Teleconference on Education and Transform or Change
them into positive impact so that Media can inform,
Educate, Entertain and persuade people in a more
Responsible Manner.
Today’s Children are Growing
up in a rapidly changing digital
age that is far different from
that of their Parents and
Grandparents.

Teleconferencing is a part of technology.
The Media play a dominant role in the
Learning Process.
Education and Media are integral part
of Learning.
Media is Everywhere, it has become a
Part of in our daily Life.

Society.
What is Media ?
The Word Media comes from the Latin Plural of Medium.
Media may refer to Communications.
Communication Tools are used to
Store and deliver information or data.
Media are Instruments of Communication which reach
Large number of People and Pupils with a Common
Message.
WHAT IS MEDIAEDUCATION?
The Media is the most powerful entity on earth. They
have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make
the guilty innocent.
Media Education is the process
through which the individual
become media literate – able to
critically understand the nature,

ROLE OF PRINT MEDIA
IN EDUCATION
The role of Print Media in the process of
Education is of special importance.
Print Media Like: Newspapers, Journals
and Magazines are the basic oldest channels
of communication between one source to
other.
Print Media are being printed in every
regional language to facilitate, the readers
to get information and knowledge in ones
own mother tongue.
Dr. Francis Arackal said, “Newspapers are common
man’s university”.
Through newspapers, we
can get News, information,
and we can learn our
National Language, and
English Newspapers are
very helpful to learn the
English Language.

learn by Articles, Features,
Interviews, Short Stories, and
we can get very nice literature

informal education is available in the
Books.
In spite of modern technology, still
this medium is popular for the
learning.
Mostly students depend upon this
medium to learn the Education.
ROLE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA IN
EDUCATION
ROLE OF RADIO
Radio is also playing an important role
in Education.
Many Personalities, Scholars, Professionalists come in
radio as a chief guest, by live calls, we take a lot of
information and learned by this way.
Talk shows about Politics, Finance and other Programs
are the source of Informal Education.
It will help the students to increase
their speaking skill.
Television is the powerful media that
will reach all sorts of people.
It is a source of Informal Education.
ROLE OF TELEVISION
TV does play an important role in shaping a person’s life,
both Professionally and Personality .
TV provide to learn so many things like:
Politics , Business, Finance, Nature,
different Languages Learn Through
Dramas and Movies, Cooking etc.
Different News Channels help to update our Knowledge.
Film is also a source of informal education
we can know about different cultures, and
other societies norms, Values, Civilizations
and way of living by Films .
ROLE OF FILMS
Film is playing an important role for learning different
languages. Film delivers a moral lesson to the viewers. Its
depend upon viewers, how that they perceive.
In a dramatic way, films tell us a current
situation of the World. Like: Terrorism,
Corruption, Social evils etc.
Many historical films tell us the old history
of the Nations.

The Internet has a significant
potential for providing children and
youth with access to educational
information, and can be compared
with a huge home library.
ROLE OF INTERNET
Regardless of gender, race, age,
geographic location, language or
any disability, internet gives an
equal chance to all to progress in
the field of Education.
ONLINE LEARNING
Online learning has assumed the role of
an important media for imparting
Distance Education.
The most important advantage of online
distance education is to earn a degree
from one’s home or work place.
It helps to understand the entire syllabus without the help of a
Teacher.
We can get knowledge and information through charts, maps,
graphs, moving images , slides and video clippings and even
audio recordings via Internet.
The advent of mobile devices have changed the
learning methods of students. Students store all
their notes in mobiles and study from it
because it’s easy and convenient.
ROLE OF MOBILE DEVICES
TELECONFERENCING
Teleconferencing means telephone meeting
among two or more participants through a
Telecommunication Medium.
It is a generic term for linking people
between two or more locations by
Electronics.
Teleconferencing consists of a live
real time session between multiple
participants with the ability to hear
and see each other as well as share
data and applications.
“Teleconferencing is an aggregation of audio conferencing,
video conferencing, and data conferencing, and includes
multiple participants in a live real-time session.”

AUDIO CONFERENCE
It involves transmission of voice
only which are amplified at each
end by the speaker system.
AUDIO-GRAPHIC CONFERENCE
It employs voice plus graphic display
capability. The most frequently used
graphic supplement is a facsimile machine,
which transmits electronically and
reproduces at remote location anything
that can be written/typed on paper.
VIDEO-CONFERENCE
Combines audio and video to provide voice
communications and video images. Can be
one-way video/two-way audio or two-way
video/two-way audio.
It can display anything that can be captured
by a TV camera.
COMPUTER CONFERENCE
Uses telephone lines to connect two or more
computers and modems. Anything that can
be done on a computer can be sent over the
lines.
It can be synchronous or asynchronous.
IGNOU
IGNOU has established basically a system which
consists of one way video and two way audio
teleconferencing networks.
It has also been called by several names. Like:
“Talkback Network”, “Interactive Narrowcasting”
or “Interactive Television Network”.
There are three basic component of this system.
These are:
 The Teaching End (Studio and uplink earth station),
 The Receiving End (The class room/conference hall),
 The Space Craft or Satellite.
ADVANTAGES
Save Time: Content presented by
one or many sources is received in many
places simultaneously and instantly.
Lower Costs: Costs (travel,
meals, lodging) are reduced.
Accessible: Through any
origination site in the world.
Larger Audiences:
More people can attend.
Adaptable: Useful for institutions to
discuss, inform, train, educate or present.
Flexible: Receive site can be
located anywhere.
Security: Signals can be encrypted
(scrambled) when it is necessary.
Unity: Provides a shared sense
of identity.
Timely: For time-critical
information, sites can be linked quickly.
Interactive: Dynamic; requires
the user's active participation.
LIMITATIONS
Initial cost of equipment’s are very high
Difficult for Complex
Interpersonal Communication
Socializing is less than a
face-to-face Meeting.
True dialogue among the participants is impeded by
the unfamiliar often intimating Technology.
CONCLUSION
We can rightly conclude that the effect of media
is vast on the life of each and every individual.
Media has opened a new dimension and gave a
new meaning to Education.
With the on-going development of information and technology in
the society, media has given particular attention to the need of
education and cultural diversity and promoted media
consciousness among individuals.
Education has become more entertaining like never
before.

  • 4. Teleconferencing is a part of technology. The Media play a dominant role in the Learning Process. Education and Media are integral part of Learning. Media is Everywhere, it has become a Part of in our daily Life. INTRODUCTION They form a person and Transform Society.
  • 5. What is Media ? The Word Media comes from the Latin Plural of Medium. Media may refer to Communications. Communication Tools are used to Store and deliver information or data. Media are Instruments of Communication which reach Large number of People and Pupils with a Common Message.
  • 6. WHAT IS MEDIAEDUCATION? The Media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent. Media Education is the process through which the individual become media literate – able to critically understand the nature, Techniques and Impacts of Media messages and production.

  • 11. ROLE OF PRINT MEDIA IN EDUCATION The role of Print Media in the process of Education is of special importance. Print Media Like: Newspapers, Journals and Magazines are the basic oldest channels of communication between one source to other. Print Media are being printed in every regional language to facilitate, the readers to get information and knowledge in ones own mother tongue.
  • 12. Dr. Francis Arackal said, “Newspapers are common man’s university”. Through newspapers, we can get News, information, and we can learn our National Language, and English Newspapers are very helpful to learn the English Language. ROLE OF NEWSPAPERS
  • 13. ROLE OF MAGAZINES Through magazines, we can learn by Articles, Features, Interviews, Short Stories, and we can get very nice literature by Magazines. Different types of magazines having different and versatile knowledge of over all the world.
  • 14. ROLE OF BOOKS Book is the best source of Education. A lot of material of formal and informal education is available in the Books. In spite of modern technology, still this medium is popular for the learning. Mostly students depend upon this medium to learn the Education.
  • 15. ROLE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA IN EDUCATION
  • 16. ROLE OF RADIO Radio is also playing an important role in Education. Many Personalities, Scholars, Professionalists come in radio as a chief guest, by live calls, we take a lot of information and learned by this way. Talk shows about Politics, Finance and other Programs are the source of Informal Education. It will help the students to increase their speaking skill.
  • 17. Television is the powerful media that will reach all sorts of people. It is a source of Informal Education. ROLE OF TELEVISION TV does play an important role in shaping a person’s life, both Professionally and Personality . TV provide to learn so many things like: Politics , Business, Finance, Nature, different Languages Learn Through Dramas and Movies, Cooking etc. Different News Channels help to update our Knowledge.
  • 18. Film is also a source of informal education we can know about different cultures, and other societies norms, Values, Civilizations and way of living by Films . ROLE OF FILMS Film is playing an important role for learning different languages. Film delivers a moral lesson to the viewers. Its depend upon viewers, how that they perceive. In a dramatic way, films tell us a current situation of the World. Like: Terrorism, Corruption, Social evils etc. Many historical films tell us the old history of the Nations. PAZHASSI RAJA
  • 19. The Internet has a significant potential for providing children and youth with access to educational information, and can be compared with a huge home library. ROLE OF INTERNET Regardless of gender, race, age, geographic location, language or any disability, internet gives an equal chance to all to progress in the field of Education.
  • 20. ONLINE LEARNING Online learning has assumed the role of an important media for imparting Distance Education. The most important advantage of online distance education is to earn a degree from one’s home or work place. It helps to understand the entire syllabus without the help of a Teacher. We can get knowledge and information through charts, maps, graphs, moving images , slides and video clippings and even audio recordings via Internet.
  • 21. The advent of mobile devices have changed the learning methods of students. Students store all their notes in mobiles and study from it because it’s easy and convenient. ROLE OF MOBILE DEVICES
  • 22. TELECONFERENCING Teleconferencing means telephone meeting among two or more participants through a Telecommunication Medium. It is a generic term for linking people between two or more locations by Electronics. Teleconferencing consists of a live real time session between multiple participants with the ability to hear and see each other as well as share data and applications.
  • 23. “Teleconferencing is an aggregation of audio conferencing, video conferencing, and data conferencing, and includes multiple participants in a live real-time session.” DEFINITION OF TELECONFERENCING
  • 25. AUDIO CONFERENCE It involves transmission of voice only which are amplified at each end by the speaker system. AUDIO-GRAPHIC CONFERENCE It employs voice plus graphic display capability. The most frequently used graphic supplement is a facsimile machine, which transmits electronically and reproduces at remote location anything that can be written/typed on paper.
  • 26. VIDEO-CONFERENCE Combines audio and video to provide voice communications and video images. Can be one-way video/two-way audio or two-way video/two-way audio. It can display anything that can be captured by a TV camera. COMPUTER CONFERENCE Uses telephone lines to connect two or more computers and modems. Anything that can be done on a computer can be sent over the lines. It can be synchronous or asynchronous.
  • 27. IGNOU IGNOU has established basically a system which consists of one way video and two way audio teleconferencing networks. It has also been called by several names. Like: “Talkback Network”, “Interactive Narrowcasting” or “Interactive Television Network”. There are three basic component of this system. These are:  The Teaching End (Studio and uplink earth station),  The Receiving End (The class room/conference hall),  The Space Craft or Satellite.
  • 28. ADVANTAGES Save Time: Content presented by one or many sources is received in many places simultaneously and instantly. Lower Costs: Costs (travel, meals, lodging) are reduced. Accessible: Through any origination site in the world. Larger Audiences: More people can attend. Adaptable: Useful for institutions to discuss, inform, train, educate or present. Flexible: Receive site can be located anywhere. Security: Signals can be encrypted (scrambled) when it is necessary. Unity: Provides a shared sense of identity. Timely: For time-critical information, sites can be linked quickly. Interactive: Dynamic; requires the user's active participation.
  • 29. LIMITATIONS Initial cost of equipment’s are very high Difficult for Complex Interpersonal Communication Socializing is less than a face-to-face Meeting. True dialogue among the participants is impeded by the unfamiliar often intimating Technology.
  • 30. CONCLUSION We can rightly conclude that the effect of media is vast on the life of each and every individual. Media has opened a new dimension and gave a new meaning to Education. With the on-going development of information and technology in the society, media has given particular attention to the need of education and cultural diversity and promoted media consciousness among individuals. Education has become more entertaining like never before.
