Information for Potential Trainers

Join SafeGuard’s Training Team.
SafeGuard’s Training for Children and Adult Services is a training program designed
to be responsive to the current needs of those providing services and supports for
children, youth, adults and families. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of service
providers through the deliver of evidence-informed training therefore enhancing
services for children, youth, families and adults.
SafeGuards is looking to contract with trainers, topic and curriculum experts for the
following programs and services:
1) Classroom Training (Training Topics produced 2-5 times/year across Ontario)
2) In-Service Training (Training produced for agencies upon request)
3) Webinars and Videoconferencing
General Information
Individuals are chosen based on topic relevance, experience, expertise, training skills
and education. Topic areas must relate to the current needs of staff and clients that
are served by SafeGuards. Our primary training markets are the sectors served by
our five association partners:
• Association for Native Child and Family Services (ANCFSAO),
• Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO),
• Ontario Association of Residences Treating Youth (OARTY)
• Ontario Association of Child, Youth and Young Parent Resources (ONTCHILD/YPRO)
• Community Living Ontario
We also provide training to other organizations providing services and supports to
children, youth and adults for example: trauma, child welfare, special services at
home, respite, autism, FASD, young offenders, addictions services, harm reduction,
education, etc. SafeGuards’ recognizes that this is a diverse population and
therefore we accept proposals that may be targeted to particular groups and/or
levels of education and experience.
If you would like to be considered for work as a Trainer please submit a proposal
with all the information outlined in the “Application”. Please note you are welcome to
submit for more than one area or topic.

2. GUIDE FOR PROPOSALS: TRAINING
1. General Information
a) Please include your name and contact information. If more than one trainer,
list who is to be the primary contact.
b) Include the name of the primary contact person on each page
c) Identify the training delivery types that you would like to be considered for:
_ Classroom in various locations across Ontario
_ In-Service Training at agency locations
_ Videoconference
_ Webinar
2. Qualifications
a) Attach a Resume which includes: experience, education, work and training,
experience, any relevant research and/or publications. People who have
been previously contracted by Safeguards should include an up-dated
resume.
b) Two references specific to related work/training that can be contacted.
c) Biography: 100-120 words that would be used in promotional materials.

3. Training Title
a) Please include the suggested title of your training(s).
4. Rationale for Training (approximate length: 250 words)
a) Describe identified Training Needs/Rationale for the proposed training.
b) List expected Training Outcomes: What can the participant expect to learn?
c) What is the expected impact on the participant’s workplace or clients served?
5. Proposed Training (approximate length: 250-400 words)
a) Outline of Proposed Training which should also include:
- Models/theories your training is based on and support why this training
would meet evidence-based practice/practice-based evidence.
- Agenda with approximate time devoted to each section of training.
- Presentation style, format, adult education methods, titles of any
DVD/film.
b) Indicate the level of this training and who would benefit from this training i.e.
- Introductory, Intermediate or Advanced,
- Front-line, Clinical Director, Supervisor etc.
- Child and Youth worker, Social Worker, psychologist etc .
- Type of workplace
- Level of experience or any pre-requisites required:
6. Training Requirements
a) Suggested number of participants in training and maximum.
b) Suggested timeframe for training i.e. number of hours or days)
c) Months available to provide training
d) Audio Visual requirements that you need and you can supply.
e) Additional Audio Visual requirements that you would need.

3. SAFEGUARDS IN-SERVICE TRAINING
SafeGuard’s provides in-service training to agencies across Ontario. We respond to
requests from organizations who wish to have existing training produced in-house or
customized to meet their needs. Safeguard’s coordinates the training and pays
trainers a training fee and covers related expenses.
Please indicate if you are interested in being considered as a Trainer for In-Service
Training under Item 1. c) above.
If yes, please complete information required within the submission and list any
additional topic areas that you are qualified to train in. We will contact you to
discuss additional topics at a later date.
