NEBOSH National General Certificate in
Occupational Health and Safety
Course Overview
The NEBOSH National General Certificate
in Occupational Health and Safety (NGC)
is the mostly widely recognised health
and safety qualification in the UK. The
NGC offers an excellent grounding in the
essentials of health and safety.
This qualification meets the academic
requirements for Technician membership

can be built upon with other NEBOSH
qualifications. It is ideal for people who

level of health and safety responsibility.
This qualification is the most requested
health and safety qualification by potential
employers in the UK.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate

International General Certificate in

Santia Health, Safety, Environmental Management and Asbestos Training
Training for Non-Licensed
or Notifiable Non-Licensed Work
with Asbestos Material
Most asbestos work must be undertaken by a licensed
contractor and the decision as to whether or not the job
is licensable is based on risk. A contractor may be exempt
from needing a license to work with asbestos, but some
types of non-licensed asbestos work require notification to
the Health and Safety enforcement authority. These works
are known as Notifiable Non-Licensed Work (NNLW).
All non-licensed and notifiable non-licensed work with asbestos must be carried out with
the appropriate controls and training in place, in order to protect those doing the work, and
those in the area, from the health risks that exposure to asbestos causes.
Topic content
Topic content includes Equipment and
Material Sheets and specific tasks from
HSG 210 Asbestos Essentials Task Manual.
This course can be delivered on client
premises, at Santia House in Cardiff or
at a conference venue located for your
convenience. This course can only be
delivered in-company if suitable practical
facilities are available at the clients
premises.
• Equipment and Material Sheets
• Specific tasks from HSG 210 Asbestos
Essentials Task Manual
• Task specific training
• Use of RPE and PPE
• Decontamination procedures
• Disposal of Asbestos waste
Training for Non-Licensed or Notifiable
Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos
Materials is not sufficient training for
carrying out licensed work.
Delegates are awarded a UKATA certificate
after successful completion of the course.
Who is the course for?
This training is designed for people who
intend to carry out work with asbestos
(that doesn’t require a license) and who
may knowingly disturb lower risk asbestos
containing materials. Workers in this
scenario should already have received
approved asbestos awareness training.
The Health and Safety Executive advise that
training for non-licensed and or notifiable
non-licensed work should be job specific
and Santia’s experience in this area enables
courses to be designed to meet this advice.
Aim
To allow candidates to undertake non-
licensed asbestos works in accordance with
the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
and the associated Code of Practice.

include asbestos; Reasons why asbestos
fibres cause ill health effects; How to
protect yourself and work safely in buildings
that may contain asbestos products;
Procedures to be followed if exposure is
suspected and Legislative guidelines.
Electrical Safety Awareness

at all employees to ensure that there is a
general understanding of electrical safety
issues and requirements in the workplace.
Specifically the course will provide
employees with the knowledge of what the
hazards are regarding electricity and what
precautions should be taken to prevent
electrical shock.

is designed to provide a basic level of
information and knowledge to candidates
regarding the classification, recognition

work with hazardous substances should
attend this awareness level training as a
starting point.

Recommendations
“Santia has trained over 450 of our
managers on IOSH Managing Safely and
non-accredited courses at all our sites,
empowering staff to better manage risk
in the workplace, with the result that our
injury numbers have reduced and we have
seen a decrease in the severity of those
injuries. We use Santia because they have
proven themselves to be able to deliver
a large amount of training to a fairly tight
timescale, and have been happy to modify
course content to personalise it to STFC.”
Matthew Dickson,
Group Leader, SHE Group. The Science and
Technology Facilities Council
“Whilst the NEBOSH Certificate is very
detailed and comprehensive with an
extremely large volume of information
to take in, the course tutors impart the
information in a friendly and informative
way. They are able to bring in their own
experiences to the delivery of the course
which enhances the experience. They also
give practical advice on how to approach
the exams.”
John Gunson, NEBOSH Certificate

“I use Santia for much of my own training
and the training of employees, because the
customer service, training delivery, course
notes and facilities are all excellent.”
Trevor Bamber

“I just wanted to pass on my personal
thanks to the trainers, for all your hard
work, humour and positive approach to
getting me through the NEBOSH course.
The approach and interaction coupled with
real world examples from first class trainers
with an in depth working knowledge of the
subjects made all the difference to making
this course a success.”
Ian Lloyd-Graham,
Health and Safety Coordinator Dyson Ltd
“I have been working with Santia Training
for the past 7 years and have always
found all the team at Santia extremely
professional and accommodating at all
times, from the initial call to enquire
about a single course and checking the
syllabus of a certain module through to
multiple bookings and the complicated
management of mass training.
The advice, guidance and support when
offered has always been first class.
Santia has always shared my goal of
delivering the right course at the right level
to the right people in the organisations I
have worked for.
The courses which I have booked through
them for myself and my colleagues have
been delivered to the highest of standards
and the response I get from my colleagues,
from director level to first-line operative
level, is that the courses are delivered in
a way that makes information digestible
and they really felt that the trainers used in
each case have been ‘experts’ in their field
which has in turn led to easy and seamless
application at the ‘coal-face’.
I would highly recommend Santia
Consulting Ltd, they are without doubt
one, if not THE best of the best training
providers out there and I look forward
to working with them for many years to
come.”
Kris Dower,
Amey PLC and GEOamey PECs Ltd
‘The facilities, the tutors and all the support
available makes for an excellent learning
experience. The additional access to the

extra, the information is really easy to find
and incredibly useful to look at in your own
time.’

These works are known as Notifiable Non-Licensed Work (NNLW). This course can be delivered on client premises, at Santia House in Cardiff or at a conference venue located for your convenience. This course can only be delivered in-company if suitable practical facilities are available at the clients premises. • Equipment and Material Sheets • Specific tasks from HSG 210 Asbestos Essentials Task Manual • Task specific training • Use of RPE and PPE • Decontamination procedures • Disposal of Asbestos waste Training for Non-Licensed or Notifiable Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos Materials is not sufficient training for carrying out licensed work.
