2. Front cover page analysis
The masthead is
a large and bold
font to attract the
audiences eye.
Even though the
font is in black,
the white
background makes
it more known.
The selling line and
cover lines is placed
next to the artist to let
the audience know what’s
to be announce inside
the magazine.
The colour scheme
makes the magazine
more formal and for an
older audience, the hints
of pink plays with the
audience’s mind. The
hints of pink could relate
to Nicki Minaj- she inflict
girly elements at times.
The image of Nicki Minaj is a
long mid-shot. She is looking
directly at the audience which
makes it interactive and personal
and making the audience want to
pick it up and read/buy. Her
facial expression has slight
attitude to it, which reflects on
how people know her for. The
company has used Nicki Minaj
because at this moment in time
she is very well-known, which
could potentially make them
money.
The fact that her head is in front of the
masthead, makes it seem that the magazine
is well known. The way she is flashing her
body and posing in her underwear, gives
the magazine more sex appeal which
means more money.
3. Front cover page analysis The masthead is Bold and wide
font to grab attention. The
masthead is short and snappy to
grab their audiences attention
and to make it easier to
remember.
The image of Drake is placed in
the centre of the page to give
direct view between him and the
audience and because he is well-
known. His eye contact makes it
more personal which would make
the audience want to pick it up and
buy it. His black top and snap-back
blends well with the colour
scheme, as well as his chain which
blends with the white font.
The colour scheme is black to
compliment Drakes’ clothing, which is
also black. The black snap-back and
shirt makes him look formal and ready
for anything that comes his way (his
eye contact helps him with that). The
striking bold yellow standouts against
the black background because it’s
bright and neon, which could be reason
why they have use yellow. The yellow
helps the magazine be heard and
alarms the target audience. The colour
scheme is quite mature for an older
audience but also slightly playful.
Those are all colours that go well
together and have great dominance just
like Drake’s pose. The colour scheme
reminds me of a bumblebee, they are
small creatures but are deadly, which
could be what Drake is trying to
represent.
Eye contact Drake is giving the audience eye contact. By
doing that, it will engage the audience and make them want
to pick up the magazine and buy it. Al well as eye contact,
Drake is a well-known rapper/singer so by him being on
their cover, a lot of fans would instantly buy the magazine or
have interest.
The subheading is bold and
stands out, so the target
audience is able to see it. The
word ‘unstoppable’ is used to
describe Drakes music status.
4. Contents page analysis
The contents font stands
out so that it is clear and
the viewers are able to
know what page contains.
The contents page
has also included the
masthead, to keep in
the brand identity and
the reminder of what
magazine it is.
The layout of the
contents page is set out
neatly and has a clear
structure, which makes it
better for the audience to
locate the information
they want to know. The
headings are set in a
columns and each topic is
highlighted in black to
divide the difference with
each headline and page
information.
Even though there is only
one image, its inn a
wider scale which draws
attention to the image. It
also gives insight on
what's to come inside the
magazine.
The text is simple because it doesn’t need to be dramatic and draw as
much attention as the image does.
5. Contents page analysis
The contents page has
included a small column
to address the view in
the input of the
magazine. Its in a
smaller font compared
to the others to lessen
the importance. There
is also a image of the
front cover and a web
address to give the
audience extra
information on their
magazine and to also
seem professional.
The other two
columns contain
images and
information based on
‘what's to come’
inside the magazine.
Each heading is in
bright shades of
red, to draw attention
and to divide the
difference within each
topic.
The contents page
also includes the
name of the magazine
which strings in the
brand identity and
makes it professional.
The images are in a
wide scale which
highlights it
importance and
something visual
for the audience.
6. Double page spread analysisThe bold font makes it
easier to be noticed and
acknowledged. The
bright pink lipstick
bounces off nicely from
the pastel coloured
background.
The baby pink background
makes it seem more child-
like and able to reach a
younger target audience but
also could mimic Minaj’s
personality.
The scale of Nicki
takes up most of the
page, which could be a
metaphor for power
and domination. Her
quirky taste in clothing
compliments really well
with the rest of the
colours going on in the
page.
The interview questions
and answers and
positioned into columns
which makes it easier
for the readers to read.
the questions are bold to
make it able to
distinguish the
difference between the
questions and answers.
The presentation of the double page spread is laid
out in a way to make it able for their target audience
to read; the colours make it more interactive and
because the artist is Nicki Minaj (a well-known
rapper) it will draw in more people that will want to
know all about her-both female and male.
7. Double page spread analysis
A variety of images
on the top row,
giving the double
page more to see
and doesn’t pollute
the page with too
much information.
The red dress stands out
from the black and white
page. From the heading, the
dress could connote her
dangerous, wild and
passionate side.
The black stripes
makes the page more
diverse and adds more
detailed. Including the
stripes could
symbolise how she
separates her fun and
quirky side from her
formal one.
The heading is quite suttle
and small, which doesn't
really grab the audience’s
attention. This could reflect
on how known she really is
in the celebrity world.
However it highlights her
name in blue to show
acknowledgement of who
she is.
Overall it’s a great layout, the columns are in straight rows to
make it easier for the audience to read. Because of the colours,
it makes it seem more formal and appealing to an older
audience. The blank space near her legs questions what else to
write about her, because of how popular and well-known her
sister is, she might have felt left in the dark (which could reflect
on the poses at the top).
