2. Through the eyes
of a child
Listening to your child’s perspective
will teach you a lot. Kids are smarter
than most grown-ups think. The
children’s ideas and opinions are so
honest and pure.
Listen to your child more often.
When you do so, you are helping
him / her to grow and, to develop
positive social relationships and
interactions.
Don’t expect your child to listen to
you, if you don’t have time and
patience to listen to him / her.
3. The Aim of the Interview
Throughout the past months we spent a lot of time brainwashing
our children about the dos and don’ts. This was because we
wanted to protect them and we wanted to ensure their safety.
However:
did we have enough time to sit down and listen to their
opinions?
did we have time to listen to their worries and concerns?
did we dedicate enough time to discuss with our children the
current matters and why are we taking so much precautions?
did we have time to listen to their point of view?
Sometimes, we get too busy thinking about how we can prepare
our children for unforeseen circumstances and worrying too
much about how to keep them safe. We underestimate our
children and forget to listen to their voices.
