Science 7 - LAND and SEA BREEZE and its Characteristics
Evaluation Q4 - research and planning
1. Research and Planning
How I used new media technologies to accompany me in the research and planning stages.
2. Microsoft Word
I used MW in a multitude of ways throughout this
process. It helped create a plan for before the shoots
organising the location, equipment, props and people
needed as well as the date it would all come together.
Furthermore, it helped create model release forms giving
me my actors plans for the different shoots. Location
recces so people knew the locations and how to get there
and the dangers. Finally creating surveys for audience
feedback was useful with Microsoft word.
3. Collage creator
Collage creator was online software that I discovered and it
assisted in both research and planning. It originally helped
me research digipaks for inspiration when creating my own, I
put several of my favourites together in a collage. I then
proceeded to use this website to make a collection of my
own photography one used for my website and digipak and
the other to display the locations I would be using for my
video.
4. Pinterest
Pinterest was especially useful when researching my target audience and
particular themes about my genres. It allowed everything to be all in one place
and gave good visual representation, especially when I embedded some of the
boards into my blog.
Costume, hair, makeup and props were all discovered on Pinterest and it had
heavy influence on all areas of my medias.
5. Blogger
Blogger was one of the most useful parts of the process as it allowed to keep all
my progress/research/feedback in one place. After using it for a while I learnt how
to use blogger properly and how to embed other media files into my work. Being
able to incorporate new media technologies into blogger was all part of its
creativeness. Rather than having layers and layers of text. I was able to insert
things like youtube videos, certain planning documents and powerpoints to make
it more visually interesting. Not only this, but it makes my research and work a lot
more presentable and easier to work from.
6. Youtube
Youtube has been mega important throughout the entire process. It has been
used purely to find a music video firstly and its works as a great search engine to
find other videos whether its inspiration for the media projects or whether its
searching up tutorials for other software I have been using. Not only this but
youtube allowed me to upload my videos in order to broadcast them for people
to easily view so all in all youtube has been so helpful to me over these stages.
7. Premiere Pro
Premiere pro was the software I used to edit my music video. I started
with practice clips just getting to know the software and how it worked
(basic things like splitting footage and speed of footage).
As I progressed I got to better techniques some learnt from youtube and
other people which meant my video just kept on improving. As well as
my music video it was also good for doing reviews of my work and
collecting feedback too.
8. Photoshop
Photoshop was key when creating my digipak and all
around just altering images for website and digipak in
general. I started off terrible in all honesty, so I
messed around on it for a while creating practice
front covers like the one here. As I got more and
more into it the more confident I got and I taught
myself using youtube tutorials to get the kind of
effects I wanted.
9. Facebook
Facebook was very useful in getting locations and people sorted. It
allowed me to keep in contact with my actors and keep them updated
when I needed them but I also managed to get my main locations sorted
by requesting their property. We made arrangements over messenger
and it was really fast and simple which was good as I had other things to
work on too.
