Introduction to ArtificiaI Intelligence in Higher Education
Mise en scene appeals to target audience
1. I believe there are numerous parts of my groups mise en scene that appeals to my target audience …..
COSTUME - From the innocent white ribbon , pink Mickey Mouse top and light blue matching cardigan to the dangerous white
long tight dress. As I’ve said in numerous posts these two aspects of her personality attract the wide range of social groups we
wanted our opening to appeal to.
PROPS- The one prop we chose was the jack in the box which was used to convey our main characters psychological mind frame.
This appeals to the audience because it has a double meaning a double side just like our character an innocent child-like side and
the scary unexpected side.
ACTORS – When going about choosing our characters we picked them on their overall ‘LOOK’ for example our main character
was played by Zaiba the reason for this choice was because of her long black hair and dark eye colour . She would fit perfectly in
conveying the Korean ghost seen in a variety of Korean films . This would attract the Korean part of our target audience. For the
bullies we decided on a variety of different cultures to appeal to our English based target audience as in Britain there’s a lot of
diversity.
STORYLINE- Our storyline was what I thought would really widen out our target audience – the bullying storyline is very relatable
and It’s something a lot of people have been through and can defiantly sympathize with . From teens all the way to people in
their late 30’s , males to females everyone and anyone can defiantly relate to what our main character is going through is some
form.
GENRE- Our film genre was Horror with psychological elements , based on stereotypes the horror element would appeal our
male target audience and the psychological element would attract the females and the sub genre would appeal widely to teens.
LOCATION- We had two main locations the forest in Barnet which was a big forest that had many secluded areas . On the day we
filmed the snow hadn’t melted which we thought was a interesting contrast with our main characters white dress. Second
location was in our college we used : a class room , the stairs and a dark toilet. This location we thought would make our
character more believable as a ‘student’.
FILM NAME- Vengeance is the name we chose, we thought as it was short and snappy and straight to the point . People when
seeing the name would automatically know roughly what our main character was seeking.
PRODUCTION COMPANY- Our production company is ‘19 productions’ which is a Korean company that in it’s self would draw in
Korean interest in our film.
2. We as a group did a post where we recorded our
teacher Dan giving us his feedback on our rough
cut . I believe it helped us GREATLY , without his
feedback we would have never really considered
using filters and effect on our opening . After his
feedback we really sat back and considered all
the ways in which we could take what Dan said
and add it to our work . We decided that we
didn’t have enough bullying scenes so we went
straight out found willing people to participate
in another bullying scene and then recorded it
the next day. With all these new improvements
we think it bettered our chances of appealing to
our target audience because it made our
storyline and plot clear so now the chances of
our target audience understanding it was more
likely then what it would have been if we did
nothing that Dan suggested .
3. I used FACEBOOK , VIMEO & FELLOW STUDENTS to find out
different opinions so that I could further improve my
opening . On Facebook I found out that they understood our
plot well and felt sorry for the main character as well as kind
of spooked by her . And by asking fellow students who are
roughly 17 + I found out that they like the sounds and effects
used . Overall I learnt that sound , the filters and effects and
the storyline was what hooked my target audience.
