2. Mise en scene refers to the arrangement of everything that appears in the framing, from lighting,
décor, setting, costume, props, actors, camera angles and framing. In our thriller we have
intentionally used a white ribbon on the main characters hair as it’s a symbol for innocence, it
shows how vulnerable she really is. Also, during the flashback scenes we changed the lighting so
that it was clear to the audience that these scenes have already taken place. Furthermore, one of
the best things I like about our location is how well it fits in with our thriller, the snow adds to the
ghostly effect of our main character who is dressed in white.
Moving on, our group have used the sound from the jack
in a box, to play over our thriller to give it a childish
theme, the jack in a box has been used to represent how
the main character is being wound up by people, it shows
her anger, when she can’t take it anymore the jack in a
box explodes with a bang, letting the audience know this
girl is coming for revenge.
Our flashback scenes have taken place at a school, which shows that the characters are students. I
think that overall we have used mise en scene very well, as the message of our storyline is pretty
clear.

3. VENGEANCE
Vengeance refers to revenge or a harmful action against a person
or a group. Our move title name pretty much sums everything up
about what’s going to happen in our thriller, the main character is
bullied and ends up taking revenge against everyone that took part
in her being bullied. We initially were going to have a Korean title
that flashed into English, but due to complications we were unable
to do so in the end.

4. PRODUCTION COMPANY
Our production company is very important to whether or not our
audience will like our thriller, because we are doing a Korean
remake it only made sense that we would also use a Korean
production company that would guide us and help give us the
right cinematic release so that people who are Korean or
interested in Korea , will be able to hear about it and spread the
word. The production company we used is called 19 Productions
and is a small independent company.

5. GENRE?
Film genres are different categories that will depict what a movie will be about .Movie posters
usually make it clear to what the film genre could be, making it easier for consumers to decide
whether they want to watch it or not. There are many examples of genres and here are a few:
• comedy
• horror
• romance
• action
• fantasy
Film genres tend to also have subgenres, in which a movie will have other references of genres
for instance a romantic comedy. Vengeance is horror thriller with psychological elements, we
established it will be a horror as well because throughout the movie our main character will kill
her peers that bullied her in the most violent way as possible. Vengeance also has
psychological elements in terms of the girl using a jack in a box which is a childish toy and the
fact that she has come back as a ghost and taken this persona of having her full face covered
with her long black hair. I think that because we have selected so many different genres it will
appeal to loads of different people, however it wouldn’t be suitable for children considering it
may be too frightening for them.

6. ROUGH CUT FEEDBACK
Once we gathered all our clips, we had to put them together to make a
rough cut. A rough cut doesn’t have to include sound or effects, its really
just bringing clips together to get an idea of what your thriller is going to be
about. Once we met our rough cut deadline, Dan (our media teacher)
viewed our thriller and gave us feedback. During this event, we filmed what
he had to say and posted it on our blog, after listening to Dan’s feedback he
gave us some good criticism that helped our final thriller. I found that Dan’s
feedback helped our audience understand our storyline better, because
from viewing our rough cut he couldn’t understand what was going on,
so our group filmed new scenes and added effects to improve it.

7. So far we have reached our audience through a cinematic release, with
250 DVD’s being sent out and an online release through Vimeo, our
group are hoping that our thriller will become viral and that it gains
popularity. We are hoping to soon post our title opening for Vengeance
on Youtube, so that its gets better recognition. As our group were
unable to attend the cinematic release at an Islington cinema, our
group got feedback from two girls, who gave us insight to how it would
appeal to the consumers
