2. Тема уроку: City. Christmas is coming!!! Місто. Наближається Різдво!!!
Мета :
навчальна:
 активізувати та систематизувати вживання лексичних одиниць з теми “Місто”;
 закріпити граматичний матеріал: утворення ступенів порівняння прикметників;
 вдосконалювати навички читання , аудіювання, письма;
освітня:
 розширитиуявлення учнів про традиції святкування Різдва у Великобританії;
розвиваюча:
 розвиватитворчуфантазію, пізнавальний інтерес, ініціативу в здійсненні
мовленнєвої діяльності;
 розвиватив учнів увагу і швидкість мовленнєвої реакції;
 розвиватикомунікативні здібностіучнів , навички роботив групах.
виховна:
 виховувати позитивнеставлення учнів до вивчення англійської мови;
 виховувати культуру спілкування, доброзичливеставлення до співрозмовника,

Вид уроку: урок-змагання.
Обладнання:комп’ютер, проектор, мультимедійний екран, різдвяні прикраси, мапи
чарівного міста, тексти для читання, грошідля аукціону, картки з завданнямидля
роботив групах, різдвяна панчоха з речами та подарунками, ялинка, запис пісні “We
wish you a Merry Christmas”.
Хід уроку
I. Введенняв іншомовну атмосферу.
1. Greetings.
T: Hello, girls and boys!Hello, dear guests! I’m happy to see all of you! Look at these

pictures! How are you today? (Учні показують малюнки, зображення яких відповідає їх
настрою).
Don’t! Look at each other! Share a smile! We are going to talk about so many interesting
things today. Look at the blackboard (на дошці прикріплені хмаринки зі словами)! Read
the words after me (учні читають слова). Lookat the words again and look around (the
class is decorated) and guess what will be the topic of our lesson? Of course, it’s “City.
Christmas is coming!!!” Open your exercise-books and write down the date and the topic of
our lesson (учитель пише на дошці тему уроку).
Учитель пояснюєучням, що цей урок не зовсім звичайний і він буде спрямованийяк
на те, щоб перевірити знання учнів з вивченого матеріалу, так і на ознайомлення учнів
з новим матеріалом, що збагатить їх знання про традиції британців, зокремапро
святкування Різдва.
T: To make the lesson more interesting I have divided you into 2 teams. Your home task was
to choosethe captains and to give names to your teams.
So who is your captain? _______________And what is the name of your team?
_________________________(2 times).
Клас поділяється на дві команди для участі в конкурсах: “Stars”, “Bells”. Назви команд
вже самі по собіє традиційними символами Різдва. Кожнакоманда має свою емблему.
Учні протягом гризароблятимуть свої зірочкита дзвіночки. Після кожного конкурсу
учитель висвітлює результати на дошці, вивішуючи символкожної команди – зірочку
чи дзвіночок. Якої команди емблем буде найбільше по закінченню гри, та команда і
буде переможцем змагання.
T: Christmas is the traditional holiday for English-speaking countries. Christmas is a family

holiday. Relatives usually meet for the big dinner of turkey and Christmas pudding. And
everyone gives and receives presents. The first day of the holiday is Christmas Eve.
Christmas Eve is on December the 24th. On Christmas Eve, children hang up the stockings
for Father Christmas, because they are waiting for presents and sweets. Many people also go
to church on Christmas Eve. Christmas day is on December the 25th. On this day people
give each other gifts and wish happiness and wealth. The other tradition is to eat turkey or
chicken for Christmas dinner with roast potatoes and vegetables. The day after Christmas is
called Boxing day. Boxing day is on December the 26th. It is the day to meet friends and
relatives and exchange the presents that are traditionally given in boxes.
T: Now we are ready to start!
2. Aims of the lesson:
 We’ll revise the vocabulary and grammar on the topic “City”;
 Learn new information about celebration of Christmas in Great Britain;
 Do different interesting tasks;
 Sing popular song;
У: Для того, щоб справитись із завданням цього уроку, будемо працювати старанно,
слухати уважно, писати охайно. Отже, сьогоднізавдання на уроці такі:
Не просто слухати , а чути.
Не просто дивитись , а бачити.
Не просто відповідати , а міркувати,
Дружно й плідно працювати.
3. Warm – up.
Гра “What is this?”
T: What do we have in the Santa’s bag?
Учитель показує на мультимедійному екрані малюнки, за допомогою якихучні
відгадують, що знаходиться у Санти в мішечку.

Гра “A Magic Stocking”(“Чарівнапанчоха”).
T: You see, I’m holding a stocking in my hand. Some of you may think I’m cold and I’m
going to put it on. But you’re mistaken. Does anybody know what it is meant for at
Christmas? Yes, it is for Christmas presents. Children in Britain put their stockings by the
side of the chimney for Father Christmas or Santa Claus to put their presents in. TodayI’ll
be your Santa Claus, because I have a magic stocking with Christmas things and decorations.
You can take one of them from my stocking. But first you must guess and say, what is it?
(Учитель підходить до декількох учнів, зав’язує їм очі і пропонує відгадати, які речі
знаходяться в панчосі: candle, bell, star, present).
T: Now tell me please with what holiday do you associate all these things? Yes, you are
right. It’s Christmas.

II. Основна частина уроку.
T: Every year the people of Norway give the city of Londona present. It’s a big Christmas
tree, and it stands in Trafalgar Square. Central streets of London are beautifully decorated
long before the holiday arrives.

Todaywe’ll travel around the magic city. We’ll remember the names of some buildings and
will be able to say what there is in the street. Imagine that we live in a magic city. There are
a lot of beautiful streets in it. There is a nice Christmas tree in the center. Children, let’s go to
the center and look at it. But first you should do some tasks. Shall we start?

T: Please open your books at page 50 and look at the map! What can we see there? Yes, you
are right. We can see streets and various buildings. What buildings can we see?

P2: A museum.
P3: A shop.
Учитель пропонуєучням ще раз назвати всі будівлі (малюнки на мультимедійному

Конкурс 4
T: Culmination of Christmas is a festive supper. English people eat the baked pork head on
Christmas. The most important dish is Christmas bread («bread of Christ»). It is baked by the
special recipes and decorated with greenery. People bake festive rolls with a grain, ring, coin
and button for fortunetelling. Grain is for fortune, ring – to the married life, coin – to riches,
button – to poverty. Main toast at the festive table is «Your good health!”.
Christmas pudding! It is the special song! It is hard to believe, but once this sweet and spicy
dish was usual porridge - plum porridge. Later porridge transformed in pudding- plum-
pudding and conquered the honoured place of main dish on Christmas table. Now it is
prepared from bread crumbs, fruits, spices. Before serving up it is poured with rum and set
on fire.

T: Someone has changed this shopping list and created lots of strange new food. Can you put
the words back together correctly? Write a new shopping list.

T: Officially Advent opens a Christmas season. The traditional phrases of this period that
you can hear are «HappyNew Year! » and «Marry Christmas! ». You can also hear «Have a
happy Holiday Season!” Children write the Christmas lists to Father of Christmas (letters to
Father Christmas).
All windows are lighted up with candles, that’s why the night before Christmas is named
«Night of candles». This tradition connected with the age-old ceremony of incineration the
Christmas log. Todaypeople use a thick Christmas candle instead of log. It is a symbol of
light’s victory over darkness.

T: Father Christmas brings presents to the English boys and girls on Christmas in Great
Britain. Children write letters to Father Christmas with desires and throw them into a fire-
place. Smoke reports a list to Father Christmas. It is accepted to give each other presents in
Britain. Relatives draw lots. It is an old tradition of presents handing within family circle.
T: Santa Claus is a kind old gentleman. He is red-cheeked with a long white beard, dressed in
a red fur coat and high red cap. A «Christmas grandfather» travelled by air and came into the
houses through a flue. Once he dropped a few gold coins in a sockwhich was hanging up to
dry above a hearth. Since that time people began to hang out socks and stockings in a hope,
that anything will fall down there. До речі, діти перед тим, як піти спати, обов’язково
залишають пиріг з фаршем або печиво з молоком для Санти і моркву для північного
оленя Рудольфа. Інакше подарунків вони не побачать!

12. Фізкультхвилинка.
T: It’s Hokey Pokey time! (звучить музика)
HOKEY POKEY
Учитель показує рухи, які слід виконувати. Учні за ним повторюють.
You put your right hand in (праву руку витягують уперед),
You put your right hand out (праву руку — назад),
You put your right hand in (праву руку — вперед),
And you shake it all about (трясуть правою рукою),
You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around (повертаються навколо себе)
That what it’s all about.
У наступних куплетах словосполучення right hand замінюється на:
— left hand;
— right foot;
— left foot;

Picture dictation (диктант – малюнок)“Decorate Christmas tree”.
T: For having a nice holiday we have to decorate a Christmas tree with helping of
decorations.
Діти отримують чисті аркуші паперу і олівці. Вони слухають інструкції вчителя та

T: Please, draw a Christmas tree. It is high and green. Our Christmas tree is decorated with
many Christmas toys. A big red star is on the top, a blue snowman is on the left, a long
orange stocking is on the right, a pink present is between snowman and stocking, a yellow
ball is near the snowman, a brown reindeer is under the stocking.

Reading. Конкурс “Auction”(“Аукціон”).
Командиотримують однакові тексти, розділені на частини. Завдання дітей за 5 хвилин

14. зібрати текст. Хто зробить це першим піднімає руки вгоруі учитель перевіряє. Перше
речення текстів учитель дає.
The Christmas tree
This is the Christmas tree. It is a fir-tree. It is very big and fine. The Christmas tree is in the
children’s room. Children decorated it with many toys. We can see many red, yellow and
blue bubbles. We can see a toy fox, a toy bird, a toy dog, a toy horse, a toy car and a toy
rabbit. There are apples, nuts and many, many bright little lights on the Christmas tree.
Children like to dance and sing around the Christmas tree. They are happy and merry. Merry
Christmas to you!
T: I proposeyou to earn some money. You have to read the text again.
Кожна команда отримує 20 євро як стартовий капітал. Ціна одного речення складає
10 євро. Учитель вимовляєречення з тексту українською мовою. Команда, яка
першою знаходить речення в тексті, піднімає руки вгоруі читає речення англійською
мовою. Якщо командапомиляється, то віддає 10 євро. Команда, яка більше отримає
грошей, перемагає у конкурсі.
Речення:
1. Вона дуже велика і гарна.
2. Діти прикрасилиїї багатьма іграшками.
3. Ми можемо побачити іграшку лисичку, іграшку пташку, іграшку собачку,
іграшку коня, іграшку машинку та іграшку кролика.
4. Дітям подобається танцювати і співати навколо Різдвяної ялинки.
5. Вони щасливі і веселі.
6. На Різдвяній ялиночці є яблука, горішки і багато, багато яскравихмаленьких
вогників.
7. Різдвяна ялинка знаходиться в кімнаті дітей.

15. Підведенняпідсумківзмагання.
Нарешті всі конкурсизакінчуються, вчитель оголошує команду-переможця.
Singing a song.
T: What else do people usually do at Christmas? Yes, they sing. Carol- singing at Christmas
is a very old custom. All over the country groups of people (young and old) sing in the
streets and outside people’s houses. The center of carol- singing in London is Trafalgar
Square. I proposeyou to sing the song ”We wish you a Merry Christmas”. Now let’s sing it
for Santa.

1. Homework.
T: I hope all of you were good boys and girls and you are ready to get presents. But for this
you have to write a letter to Santa Claus. Your homework is to write a letter to Santa Claus.

Учні показують чи сподобавсяїм урок за допомогою карток. Учні по черзівиходять до
дошки і на дошці утворюють квітку зі своїхкарток. Кожен учень висловлює свою
думку про урок (що сподобалосяна уроці найбільше).

lesson, our pupils and guests too. Учитель просить двохучнів підійти до гостей з
панчохами. Гостідістають з панчох подарунки і передбачення. I am really pleased and
