Descriptive Essay On The Mountains
Going and taking micro adventures to the mountains which were fairly close to my house was a
bit of a semi common thing, however going with only friends of mine was a thing I didn t do at
all. When the suggestion to go up by my friend Alex was made, Jesse and I quickly agreed to go
along with this plan. We then proceeded to make our way to the mountain and as we were driving
up I decidedto chime in and make a suggestion, saying We should climbup from the base of the
waterfall everybody else quickly agreed since that seemed to be a nice little leisure activity for a
group of teenagers. With the weather slowly warming melting the snow on the mountains
causing water flow the scenery was just gorgeous, with many rocks having a bright reflective
look caused by the sun and water interacting. This scenery was just perfect for a climb up the fall.
As we climbed we all took notice of just how pretty the mountain was. Seeing trees, rocks, water
spiders, and many other things we don t see every single day. As we continued up the mountain
we eventually got this amazing area with some more reflective brown gorgeous rocks that were
similar to a bunch of tiny steps. With all the water running down the rocks my dark brown
Sperry s I decided to wear started to show why they were called boat shoes this is because they
were quite good at sticking to surfaces without slipping. Even though highly unorthodox with
my shoes for some reason they seemed to work quite well except for coming untied more times
than I would have enjoyed. As we continued to climb we took a few group pictures as well as
making a fair amount of jokes to help ease our minds off of the physical work we were putting
into climbing up this mountain. After we climbed up for about fifteen minutes much of the
rocks that had places for our feet to go into and cradle providing full support were gone and
being left with solely smooth rocks that if you wanted you could slide down with relative ease.
So the rate at which we were scaling these rocks had to slow, however not terribly but our speed
was crippled by being a little more cognizant and careful. Never the less we continued to climb up,
eventually a few more these rocksteps showed up and of course we

Alien Abductions Essay
The Psychology Behind Alien Abductions
Alien abductions are no longer things of science fiction novel and movies. In the late 1940s, UFO
and alien sightings became a nation wide phenomenon. With the reported sightings and abductions,
came mass media, but also heavy criticism. If nothing else, these descriptions illustrate that the
AAE is a dynamic, elaborate, and involved experience, rich in contextual detail, with considerable
perceptual, psychological, cognitive, and physical concomitants (p. 255). Over the course of
seventy years, scientists have delved into the mindset of these victims and uncovered the
underlying causes of the reported experiences. Extensive research has been conducted to determine
the psychological aspects of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donald Spence believes that this may be the case in his article Abduction Tales as Metaphors . The
alien narrative is a substitute for the cultural crisis Robert Thoreau describes as a less empowered,
more alienated, and less predictable citizens (Spence 177). Most abductions have the similar traits
of powerlessness and uncertainty, while powerful beings degrade their bodies and leave them
traumatized (177). When contrasting modern day abductions and mid twentieth century ones,
Spence found that the narratives are also reflective of our times. Early aliens were generally
characterized as a jovial creatures, while modern day extraterrestrials are described as malevolent
creatures. The stark contrast is a subliminal metaphor for the cultural atmosphere of the time. The
early Kennedy and Eisenhower years marker great progress within the American society and
stability. As the political and cultural climates have changed, the tales of little gray men turn into an
ominous fight for freedom.
Deciphering the actual cause of reports alien abductions may never be solved, but many
psychologists have theories. While Spence believes the alien abduction phenomenon is a metaphor
for our society, psychologist Roy Baumeister believes reports are made by masochists. A person
who is sexually gratified by pain, degradation, etc., that is self imposed or imposed by others. Dr.
Baumeister believes the reports stem

Essay Emperor Charles V
Emperor Charles V (CHARLES I, King of SPAIN). Born at Ghent, 1500; died at Yuste, in Spain,
1558; was a descendant of the house of Hapsburg, and to this descent owed his sovereignty over
so many lands that it was said of him that the sun never set on his dominions. Charles was the son
of Philip, Duke of Burgundy, by Joanna, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella, and Burgundy was the
first heritage to which he at his led, on his fathers death in 1506. As he was a minor at that time, his
aunt, Margaret of Austria, undertook the regency for him. William of ChiГЁvres, his father s chief
counsellor, had charge of the prince s household; Adrian of Utrecht, the Humanist and professor of
theology at Louvain, who undertook his education,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not till the autumn of 1517 that he effected this purpose, and the Spanish opposition had
mean while been silenced. But the power left in the hands of ChiГЁvres, and the Burgundians
provoked the uprising in Castile known as the War of the Communidad. It was a movement of
the cities. In Castile the discontentment of the ruling classes was joined to that of the
handicraftsmen and labourers, in Valencia the movement was exclusively one of mechanics and
the proletariat. The rebellion failed because the commercial cities of Southern Castile took no
part in it, and because Charles, acting upon his own judgment, placed Spaniards, instead of
foreigners, in positions of authority. In 1520 Charles left Spain to take possession of the
German Empire to which he had been elected. The French king, Francis I, had been his rival for
the dignity; Leo X thought that his interests in Italy were endangered by Charles election. The
Kingdom of Navarre was already a matter of contention between France and Spain, while France
and the Netherlands wrangled over the original Dukedom of Burgundy as well as Tournai,
Flanders, Artois, and some lesser territories. War had not broken out over these questions, and
nothing indicated that Charles would be a warlike prince; but he had broken the alliance with
France made under ChiГЁvres. The Holy See opposed the election of Charles even more
vigorously than France. As King of Aragon, Charles was heir to the Kingdom of Naples, a papal
fief; the

Mountain Man Light Case Summary
DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mr. Chris Prangel
FROM:Merik Ducker Section AE1 Group 8
DATE:September 22, 2015
SUBJECT: Product Launch: Mountain Man Light
INTRODUCTION
The memorandum will analyze the proposed new product launch of Mountain Man Light
(MMLight) for Mr. Chris Prangel, the future owner of the Mountain Man Beer Company (MMBC).
More specifically, the memorandum will consider the advantages and disadvantages of launching
MMLight, as well as a cost volume profit analysis of the proposed new product launch. The
memorandum will conclude with recommendations for Mr. Prangel s consideration.
MMBC S GOALS AND BRAND IMAGE MMBC has retained leadership among premium lagers
in West ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, MMBC should deploy grass roots marketing like social media for the launch of MMLight
to avoid costly broadcast marketing and to appeal to the anti corporate attitudes of the younger
demographic revealed in the marketing focus group.
On Premise Location and New Customers To further decrease the likelihood of cannibalization
and to diversify its location offerings and customer base, the memorandum recommends that
MMBC launch MMLight into on premise locations (such as bars and restaurants). Industry
observers remark that the crucial consumer segment for beer companies are younger drinkers
ages 21 27 years who are not yet loyal to a brand of beer. Women and younger drinkers typically
prefer light beer. These groups frequently visit on premise locations and represent an exciting
market for MMBC. For questions or concerns, please feel free to e mail mducker2@illinois.edu or

United States V Julius Steinnberg And Julius Rosenberg And...
In early March of 1951, the case United States v Julius Rosenberg, Ethel Rosenberg, and Morton
Sobell argued whether the Rosenbergs planned execution should forgo or be rescinded for
violating the Espionage Act of 1917 and being guilty of starting the Korean War. In the late 1940 s
and early 1950 s the Cold Warwas ongoing, with the United States and the Soviet Unionentrenched
in an ongoing battle over the supremacy of the west. Paul Frazier, an author for the Magazine of
History in Bloomington states, One of the most intriguing aspects of the Cold War relationship
between the Americans and the Soviets was the development of vast networks of spies and
counterspies (Frazier). The United States and the Soviet s relationship establishes an early conflict
between the two nations, further affecting future diplomatic relations. Julius Rosenberg s sympathy
towards the Soviets and anger towards the United State s current position on the world s economic
stage ultimately led to his act of traitorous espionage. Michael Browning, a writer for the Palm
Beach Post newspaper states, What united the Rosenbergs was a belief in communism,
strengthened by the Depression and Russias fight against Hitler during World War 2 , (Browning).
The United States depression and Julius s admiration for Russia s fight against Hitler motivated
him to turn against his home nation during a time of crisis. To conclude, Cold War tensions and
Julius s appreciation for Soviet life and government illustrates

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Bone Disease
The Effects of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too
much bone, too little bone, or both. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a
fall, or worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation).
Osteoporosis means porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb,
when osteoporosisis taking place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in
the healthy bone. Bones that are osteoporotic have lost density, and contain abnormal tissue
structure. When bones lose this density, they weaken and are more likely to break. Osteoporosis
is often called a silent disease because one can t feel bones weakening. Breaking a bone is... Show

Smoking can lead to lower bone density, and higher risk of fracture, and this risk increases with
age. Over four units of alcohol a day can double the risk of a hip fracture. The risk of vertebral
and hip fractures in men increases greatly with heavy alcohol intake, particularly with long term
intake. Low body weight and weight loss is associated with greater bone loss and increased risk
of fracture. Some young females, particularly those training for elite athletic competitions,
exercise too much, eat too little, and consequently experience amenorrhea, which makes them at
risk for low bone mass and fractures. Middle aged and older men and women with annual height
loss 0.5 cm is at an increased risk of hip and any other fractures. Falls contribute to fractures
ninety percent of hip fractures result from falls. A third of people over age sixty five fall annually,
with approximately ten to fifteen percent of falls in the elderly resulting in fractures. Almost sixty
percent of those who fell the previous year, will fall again. Use of anxiolytics, sedatives,
neuroleptics, and antidepressants has been shown to increase risk of

Theme Of Love Medicine By Louise Erdrich
In Love Medicine , family is of major importance. Before the book even starts, there is a family
tree between two families emphasizing the importance of family. Family is someone close
someone considers to be related. Family isn t always blood related and blood relatives could mean
less to someone than close friends considered family. Theme is a main idea or subject of a talk or
piece of writing. In Louise Erdrich s, Love Medicine the theme would be that we need family to
escape and escape from and knowing your heritage is important.

Stealing sacred linen fits what I know of that blood... (Erdrich 62). Nector judges Marie based on
her family heritage and treats her like scrum at first. He assumes she is stealing valuables from the
nuns at the church and decides he is going to attack her and be a hero for returning the stolen goods .
Family and names are of great importance throughout the stories.
The reason for this theme was to push that family is important. Most people aren t as close to
their families anymore. More people don t care or think about their family anymore, only
thinking about themselves. It also is to show that your actions affect others. If a child does
something bad it makes the child seem bad and also the rest of the family bad. It gives a bad
reputation to everyone. These days, people don t seem to either know or care that they re not
only making themselves bad, but their family name a bad image. It also is to show that you re

represents family because learning to cook is an important skill in Honduran culture. It lets you
spend time with your mom and grandmothers and the bond you create while cooking is like no
other. There are so many other places to learn about the culture there.
Another thing to do other than learning about the culture is appreciating God s creation in this
little country. There are plenty of places to visit and explore in the country. The beaches are
crystal clear and so beautiful. You can see all the creatures swimming around in their
environments. Snorkeling and scuba diving would be great things to do at the beach, especially
because West Bay Beach, Roatan has the world s second largest coral reef. Another incredible
and interesting thing to visit and explore is a volcano in Amapala. Honduras is full of fun and
incredible things to do. In conclusion travelling is a great way to explore the world and oneself.

Enslavement Disrupted the African’s Authentic Culture Essay
There was a misconception that African people did not have any culture and they were not
civilized. But they had a culture that was similar to that of the Europeans and other races. However
it was interrupted when the Europeans decided to take them from Africa and transplant them in
America as slaves. As a result, their authentic cultures were drastically changed from the way of
life in their native Africa to life in the plantation society of the Americas. In this essay, I will
attempt to show how the conditions of enslavement disrupted all dimensions of the African s
authentic culture. To aid in my analysis, I will be using the Reid Culture Conflict Model as a guide

According to him, for every transaction of the government, as far as my slender observation
extended was conducted by the chief or elders of the place (191). The political system also
consisted of judges and senators in addition to the chiefs and elders. Surprisingly there were no jails

Adultery was sometimes punished with slavery or death .... (191). Africans did not have a high

The economic system of rural Africa was based mainly on agriculture. Equiano indicates that
Agriculture is our chief employment; and everyone, even the children and women are engaged in it

addition to farming, the women had additional roles. Equiano says When our woman are not
employed with the men in tillage, their usually occupation is spinning and weaving cotton, which
they afterwards dye and make it into garments (192). Africans also manufactured items. According
to Equino, of course we have few manufactures. They consist for the most part of calicos, earthen

The Conflict Between Israel and Palestine Essay examples
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has tight roots in history, stretching thousands of years
back to when the Israelites first forged their way into the land, then known as Canaan. It came to
its peak in 1948, the year Israel declared its independence (Beinin). Ever since then, the volatile
area of Palestine has become a battle ground for war, terrorism, and politics. The two nations have
attempted to make agreements, but so far, none of them have succeeded in creating long lasting
peace. Since it is unlikely that neither Israelnor Palestine would completely give up their land to the
other nation, a compromise needs to be forged between the two. The conflict between Israel and

These restrictions have not completely closed off trade into Gaza, however. With heavy border
control on the surface, traders have turned to smuggling goods through subterranean tunnels that
burrow into Egypt. It is estimated that around 15,000 jobs are found in the tunnels, smuggling
anything from weapons and cement, to food and cigarettes. These jobs are very much high risk,
however, with cave ins increasingly common. (Myre) If Israel dropped their blockade and opened
up more trading opportunities for the people of Gaza, there would be a significant decrease in
accidents in these smuggling tunnels, and their economy would be better off. Above all else, it
would express to the Palestinians of Gaza that Israel was prepared to trust them. The second step in
ending this violent conflict in the Middle East is for Israel to lift their occupation and settlement on
the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. If Palestinians and Israelis had settled for the terms outlined in
the original United Nations partition plan in 1947, history might have taken a very different path.
This plan would have split the land into two different states, an Arab state, and an Israeli state.
Jerusalem and Bethlehem, for their religious significance to many cultures, would have become
international regions. (Beinin) Due to the likelihood of further Jewish immigration, this

We might describe Wuthering Heights as romance because it is a love story, it can be a work of

the novel is described as hybrid. There are two parallel love stories, in the first half of the novel
Bronte concentrate on the love of Heathcliff and Catherine but in the second half there was a less
dramatic love story between little Catherine and Hareton. The love story of Heathcliff and
Catherine is rooted in their childhood and is marked by the refusal to change. Catherine and
Heathcliff were identical in sharing their perception. Catherine declares, famously, I am Heathcliff,

and Ben and Jerry s with its effort to Lick Global Warming and employ other eco conscious
practices (Rottkamp 1). While these strategies have shed light on being friendly to our planet,
the fact remains that the large portion of our population simply is not embracing it. One major
problem as far as companies using green marketing and why it isn t working is that the relatively
vague definition of green marketing leaves a lot of room for loopholes. Green marketing, by
simply being defined as the marketing of products that are assumed to be environmentally safe,
allows companies to take advantage of this idea even if their products are not the best example of
green ones (McClendon 1). Most companies also don t practice what they preach in such

of the Canadian Pacific Railway. As discussed during the course, in the mid 1920 s Canada was
part of a transition moving from Great Britain to the United States of America and this is a great
example to illustrate. Great Britain owned the Canadian Pacific Railway although managed in
Canada and the automobile company; General Motors of Canada was a subsidiary of a United

behind the United States but this helped to create factory jobs that would drive the Canadian

The Consequences Of Civil Disobedience
The meaning of civil disobedience has been disoriented throughout the years. Unfortunately, civil
disobedience is often confused with simply violating laws that you do not like (docsoffredom.org).
On the other hand, true civil disobedience lies in violating inequitable laws, but accepting the
consequences that come with it. Peaceful resistance can positively impact a free society and bring
about reform people desire, but only in the form of true civil disobedience. For example, the Civil
Rights Movement won desegregation for many African Americans. Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi
and his non violent acts of civil disobedience helped to ensure India s independence from Britain.

example of true civil disobedience are the protests against the Dakota pipeline, which had a small
taste of victory until President Donald Trump authorized the pipeline to continue. All of these
examples are evidence of how true civil disobedience can impact not just one society, but the entire
world, and how it will continue to do so for generations to

The Nature Of Human Activity
Archaeology, the study of the material remains of human activity, depends on certain sources of
data and the interpretation thereof. It is not always easy to distinguish explicit expressions of
theory within the archaeological reports that follow excavations. However, it is nearly impossible
to find empiricism, which is an inherently implicit element of theory and is therefore very difficult
to express outright. The most general definition is that empiricism holds that knowledge comes
through sense and experience. In archaeology, an additional facet is added to the definition: the
ability of items of the archaeological record, artifacts or data, to speak for themselves through sheer
scientific inquiry. There are many sub descriptions of empiricism. The two most common are vulgar
empiricism, which is a strictly atheoretical perspective, that is to say without theory or even outside
of theory, not to be confused with the other, empirical sufficiency, the necessity that a claim be
backed by empirical data. Though hidden under other theories, empiricism is within all
archaeological processes. It is from these shadows of theory that the archaeological community
should bring empiricism into the open and acknowledge it as a necessary part of the archaeological
interpretation process.
The word empiricism is derived from the ancient Greek word for experience, empeiria. As a
theoretical element, in its modern form, it began with the writings of Francis Bacon, Pierre
Gassendi, and

Where Wizards Stay Up Late
Where Wizards Stay up Late
Where Wizards Stay up Late, the Origins of the Internet. Katie Hafner and Matthew Lyon walk us
through the beginnings of the Internet. The authors will talk about how a computer engineering
firm produced the first prototypes of the Arpanet, and how a group of men made the Internet as we
know it today. It tells the intriguing story of how the technology for the Internet was devised. In
many respects, it is very much a behind the scenes kind of documentary.
When thinking about the Internet, one always appears to assume that the development of computer
technology has been driven by a few giants of the industry. Indeed, we always assume that it is the
big people that made it. And yet, the truth is very different. The authors show us how many of the
developments surrounding the Internet were brought about with the support and often the
leadership of the government. Indeed, it was the government funding that made a lot of these
realities possible. Thus, this is basically a case study of what the development of networking
achieved.
In the book, we encounter the process of packet switching, which is a technique in which a digital
message is broken up into smaller packets that can be routed separately through a network to their
destination. This is how the Internet was discovered.
The two authors follow the story from the conception of the idea of packet switching in the early
1960s to the creation and development of the Internet. We see how one

Was Rockefeller A Robber Baron Or A Captain Of Industry
John D. Rockefeller: Robber Baron or Captain of Industry? John D. Rockefeller could be thought
of as both a robber baron and a captain of industry because he did many things throughout his
career that would make you believe this. In my opinion, Rockefeller was more of a captain of
industry because he did a lot of philanthropic work after his retirement from the oil business.
Although, he did use illegal and very unethical tactics in order to gain his wealth, and he
completely ran his competitors out of business. He would do anything to gain more fortune for
himself. When people think of John D. Rockefeller, only one question comes to mind. Was he a

did create an oil monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for
a certain product they are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular
industry. There are some advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated
products being sold. They are also able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the
products they are selling because they can afford to have the latest machinery and technology to
help them. There are also some disadvantages. Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower
quality goods, and the lack of competition could also lead to lower quality goods. Some would
say that this is very greedy because monopolies are usually associated with robber barons, but I
think Rockefeller was an exception to this. As a captain of industry, Rockefeller was in no way
greedy with the money he made from his oil

What Is The Purpose Of The Lottery
The Lottery , a short story by Shirley Jackson, features a small town during the highly anticipated
lottery. The lottery is an annual event, organized by Mr. Summers, the jovial man who runs the coal
business. It is a highly important time, as the whole town comes to the town square on the day of
the lottery. The guidelines are quite simple: everyone takes a slip of paper out of the symbolic
black box, and the slip of paper with the black mark carved on it, is the lucky winner . But the town
s definition of the lottery is differentдёЂusually, a lottery is a valuable thing to win. But when
Tessie Hutchinson, the lucky winner gets her reward by getting stoned to death by the rest of the
villagers, it is clear that winning this lottery can t be a good affair... so what is the purpose of this
lottery? Rather than discontinuing the lottery, the town continues with it because they don t want
to upset an old tradition.
To begin with, the lottery is especially old. In support of this, on page 23, lines 280 282 it says :
Seventy seventh year I been in the lottery, Old Man Warner said as he went through the crowd.
Seventy seventh time . Old Man Warner is the oldest man in town. If he remembers participating

Comparing Madonna And Child On The Crescent Moon
Throughout history, there has been consistent production of images of the Virgin Mary, often with
or holding the baby Jesus. Though the subject matter has remained the same, the methods and
techniques of these depictions have been subject to change. Sculptures of the Renaissance featured
similar structural and visual elements, even when created in different countries, several years apart.
When Virgin and Child, a French sculpture from the 1300 s, is compared to Madonna and Child on
the Crescent Moon, a German sculpture from the 1500 s, techniques and elements typical of the
Renaissanceare found in both. Virgin and Child, from the abbey church of Saint Denis, is a French

The majority of similarities are found in their visual and formal structure due to the sculptures
shared time period of the Renaissance. Virgin and Child and Madonna and Child on the Crescent
Moon are both representational and realistic, but neither of their realism goes far enough to
become naturalism. The use of the s curve and the great attention that was given to crafting the
small details in the folds of the fabric of both sculptures is greatly indicative of the influence of the
Renaissance. The content and pose of the sculptures also share similarities. The most obvious lies in
the subjects of the sculpture: Mary holding the baby Jesus. In both sculptures, Jesus caresses his
mother s face. This act humanizes Mary and her child, and creates an emotional expression that
was unusual for religious sculptures created before that time. Though the objects depicted are not
the same, the sculptures include an additional element that is full of symbolism: the fleur de lys
and a crescent moon. The cultural and historical contexts of these pieces are where the differences
between the two returns. Virgin and Child was a religious sculpture intended for a religious space,
and served an additional purpose as a reliquary. Madonna and the Child on the Crescent Moon
becomes the opposite of Virgin and Child, serving as a haus madonna, a religious sculpture intended

Success And Sustainability Of A Business
Many entrepreneurs aspire to own or operate their own business. After deciding on the purpose and
mission of the company, one must chose a form of organization for the business to operate under.
These organizational forms include sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or a limited
liability company. Not only does this decision determine how many individuals are involved in the
ownership of the business, but it also determines what laws, regulations and guidelines must be
followed to ensure success and sustainability of a business.
Across the United States, the majority of small businesses are owned and operated by one person,
which is called sole proprietorship (Liuzzo, 2016). As the most widespread, least expensive
business to establish, many small business entrepreneurs tend to take this path to avoid the need to
hiring employees, pay for expensive locations, evade corporate taxes and to maintain complete
control of all business transactions. Evident by the 2013 tax returns, the benefits of sole
proprietorship sound appealing with approximately 24.1 million individual income tax returns
reported sole proprietorship activity, a 2.2 percent increase from 2012 (Dungan, 2016).
Although the advantages appear to be rewarding for this independent business adventure, being the
primary owner faces a number of difficulties. These disadvantages are not only hardships for the
business but they are also direct liabilities for the business owner. The owner has unlimited personal

The Worst Mistake Of My Life
June 10, 2017, just a fun summer night, or that s what me and my cousin thought it was going to

So that left us with just our grandpa. Around 6 o clock my best friend called me and invited me

important to treat Sam the same way as the other children, while also correcting behavior that
disrupts the class, as you mentioned.
2) I wanted to share a motivational video about ADHD as opposed to the negative aspects of
ADHD so I m glad you enjoyed Stephen Tonti s talk! As for things that he isn t interested in
taking him a long time to complete, I also wondered if this is a normal challenge that most people
face, but is just exacerbated for him because of his ADHD. Also, I can t help but wonder what kind
of a role personality plays in this phenomenon.
3) You brought up a great point, inattentiveness can be dangerous! Too often I see people taking
selfies while driving, and on their phones in general. I also liked your point on internal validation,
which I don t hear discussed (or written about) often enough.
Hello Kinda,
1) Great ideas on how to help Sam! Giving him an active job in the classroom would allow him to
speak and move in the class without it being disrupting to his teacher or his peers.
2) Glad you enjoyed the video. As you pointed out, Steven Tonti did a great job pointingout the
useful qualities of ADHD instead of the negative sides of the symptoms, which is usually all that
is discusses. Also, I m glad you brought up the dangers of a lack of

Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although
in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they
grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by
participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the
important values learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and
enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible
attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been
devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have
joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually
worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even
engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning
trophies

Ethical And Unethical Medical Experiments
In the fourth century B.C., the renowned Greek physician Hippocrates created the Hippocritical
Oath. This oath, a code of conduct followed by physicians from the very beginnings of medical
history, proclaims that one must do no harm to their patients or subjects. It also requires that the
person swearing this oath leads an exemplary personal and professional life (Briticanna, 2008).
Nowhere in this oath does Hippocrates even insinuate that a doctor cannot perform experiments on
a humanbeing, nor does he deem it unethical. However, a handful of doctors have crossed the fine
line that distinguishes the difference between ethical and unethical human medical experimentation.
Josef Mengele did far more than just cross that line. He conducted his experiments without any
recognition of its existence. The Angel of Death, (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum,
2015) was a cruel scientist with a sadistic mentality. He would walk through hordes of new arrivals,
searching for twins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The twins screamed in pain, both night and day, until they contracted gangrene and eventually died
(Bulow, Eva and Miriam, 2015). In another, Mengele killed fourteen sets of twins in one night with
chloroform injections straight to the heart (Lifton, 1986).
Not only would he perform radical surgeries, but he would also inject one twin with a series of
diseases and wait for the child to die. Then, the other twin would be killed in order to perform a
cross examination of the effect the disease had on the subjected body. That is not all that was
done to the body after death. Dissection of the corpses for final medical analysis is well
documented by Nyiszli and by Lifton. And, in addition to the injection of diseases, he also injected
dye as well as other unknown substances into the eyes of the children, presumably trying to change

Tullymayo Vs Causco
Cusco was the capital of the Inka Empire and most roads seem to lead to this spiritual, economic
and political crossroads. This was a small village enlarged by the founder of the Inka Empire,
Pachakuti. As a show of their power and to intimidate their captives and enemies, the Inka used
ashlar masonry (stone blocks carved on the top to cradle the rock stacked upon it) to build cities and
villages with fountains, temples, residential and administrative buildings. The city s shape was
designed using the three rivers, the Huatanay, the Tullymayo and the Chunchul. By diverting the
Huatanay and the Tullymayo with canals turning Cusco into a Puma s Tail ; by this division, the
city became two parts, the Hanan or Upper Section and the Hurin or Lower Section. The Inka
believed in a two part system that complimented one another without being equal. (Stone, p. 212.)...

The Inka organized a massive labor force from those conquered, making these mit a laborers. The
people paid their tribute or taxes by contributing their time and in return, the Inka provided them
with food, housing, and other goods; ruled more with administration than force; this allowed for
verticality relationships throughout the empire. (Lecture 2) Outside the Hanan, was the Saqsa
Waman, a citadel or defensive building at the top of Cusco. Renovated and enlarged by the Inka,
it became a fortified temple as well as fortress with large stone walls and gates; moreover, it may
have held up to 1000 warriors at the height of the Inka Empire and (Stone, p. 212.) many of the
limestone blocks are up to 16 feet tall. (Lecture

Data Partition Properties And Its Structure For Preparing...
Map/Reduce is a structure for preparing parallelizable issues crosswise over gigantic datasets
utilizing a substantial number of PCs (hubs), all things considered alluded to as a group i.e. if
all hubs are on the same local network and use the same hardware) or a framework i.e. if the
hubs are shared crosswise over geologically and authoritatively conveyed systems, and use a more
heterogenous hardware. Handling can happen on data saved either in a file system unstructured or
in a database organized. Map/Reduce can exploit domain of data, preparing it on or close to the
storage resources with a specific end goal to reduce the length over which it must be transmitted.
Jiaxing et al. proposes SUDO, an advancement system that reasons about data partition
characteristics, working properties, and data shuffling. They contend that reasoning about data
partition properties crosswise phases opens up chances to reduce extravagant data shuffling. For
instance, in the event that we realize that data partitions from past computation phases as of now
have alluring properties for the following phase, we have the method to stay away from
superfluous data shuffling steps. The fundamental obstruction to reasoning about data partition
properties crosswise over processing phases is the utilization of UDFs [4]. At the point when a
UDF is viewed as a black box , which is typically the case, we must expect conservatively that all
data partition characteristics are lost subsequent to applying

Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s...
Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish Boy s Progress,
as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the lower class in the 19th
century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place, saying that each parish was required to
care for their poor within the area. Many viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking
ambition. Dickens uses irony to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated
to remain in that manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the
beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is described as
being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver
between living the life he has just been born into, and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born
into the next , presumably better, life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation
Oliver found himself in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish
surgeon who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings emphasis to
the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who is drunk and a surgeon who
is there as he has no other choice. The author again juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic
situation to the ideal situation of childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced
nurses, and doctors of profound

Freshman Year At Nazareth College Of Rochester Our...
Freshman year at Nazareth College of Rochester our volleyball team made it to the NCAA
championship hosted by our college. We competed through the regular season with a record of 29
1, easily won the first 3 matches of the NCAA tournament, and had earned our way to the finals.
The night before the championship, we had our usual team dinner, gathered to watch film of the
other team to best prepare for our contest, then headed back to our respective roomsto sleep. Sleep
was not easy that night due to the thoughts of having the chance to be a national champion the
next day. Sunday morning came, I woke up at 8 a.m. and left my dorm room to have breakfast
with the team. After roughly 45 minutes we headed down to the locker room to get ready for
our light morning practice. We waited around in our locker room till 10 a.m., then went up to
the gym for the practice, which was an hour. After that, we all showered and changed and left for
the media room by 11:30 a.m. to review game film and strategies. After a long 2 and a half hours
we met for a large lunch prepared by the coach s wife. We all ate as much as we could so we
only had to eat lightly before the 7 p.m. game. By 3:30 p.m. we all had gathered in the locker
room to prepare for the match. Guys were making jokes and goofing around trying to lighten the
anxiety of the upcoming contest. 4:30 p.m. came and most of the guys went to the trainer s room
to get stretched, heat packs, and taped up. 5:55 p.m., we left the locker room

Hospital Acquired Conditions
Common Hospital Acquired Conditions: Infections Donna Sabet Saddleback College N176 March
3, 2017 Common Hospital Acquired Conditions: Infections Of all the hospital acquired conditions
or never events identified by the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS), infections are
possibly the most frightening to consider. This holds true for lay people as well as medical
professionals, perhaps because of our perception that controlling the risk for infection is more
difficult than controlling non infectious risk for injury conditions that usually result from
preventable human error. Safety awareness and improved education can help on multiple fronts in
the fight against most hospital acquired conditions, but with infections, the... Show more content on

As such, we must evaluate our practice on an ongoing basis to ensure that we are consistently
following the best, evidenced based practice guidelines in our interventions. (Makic, Rauen,
Watson, Poteet, 2014) With respect to reducing HAIs, this means following all hospital
recommended infection control practices and utilizing all available resources to maintain the
highest possible standards of infection control. New nurses may want to consider participating on
an infection control committee as a means of keeping current on education and exploring new
knowledge. Also, we should acknowledge and appreciate the help and support of assistive
personnel, including often overlooked and underappreciated custodial staff, upon whom we rely to
help keep the hospital environment clean. It takes the entire team to fight an invisible enemy. As
primary patient advocates, nurses must motivate and inspire the other team members and daily
remind ourselves to care for each patient with the kind of persistence and diligence we would
expect from another RN, if we found ourselves on the other side of the nurse patient

Example Of The Show Satire
Two broke girls is a comedy. This show is very relaxing, and it delivers us lots of American value.
We learn lots of things from the people of this show. The one Max is humorous, a little rude. She
is like a person around our life. She always tries her best to help her friends. From her, we know
that we should be willing to help others who are in trouble. The other one Caroline was a rich
girl before, but she is broke. She doesn t be disappointed to her life, and she still have confidence in
her life. She also tries her best to make her life better, and she helps Max to manage their cupcake
career and encourage Max to achieve their dreams. From her, we know we should keep optimistic
psychology like Caroline in our life, and do everything by our own abilities.... Show more content

From it, we learn about lots of American culture easily. Instead of most of our books which are
too boring, the funny show can attract our attention so that we can remember many things
occasionally. The show includes many American customs. Such as, what should we do on
Christmas? In the show, they often speak a word to describe their felling instead of a long
sentence. They often use some adjective, such as wonderful, terrible. In our daily life, we also
can use a simple word to express what we want to let others know. The show is very oral, so it is
very useful for us when we talk with Americans. As you know, the Americans are more outgoing
than us, so we often misunderstand their meanings. Actually, they only play a joke with us. By
the show, we know lots of oral expressions in English. It also makes us understand the foreign
literature works. In a word, the show is very useful both in our life and study. SECTION4 Opinion:

Basketball Is More Than Just A Sport

Senior Project Basketball is more than just a sport Dwayne Wade was born January 17, 1982 in
Chicago, Illinois. Most people see Wade as just an NBA star who has a lot of money, but most
people don t know the full story of what he has been through in his life and how he got to the
NBA. When Wade was born, his parents separated a short while after and custody was given to
his mother. Then because of the crime in Chicago and financial issues Wade had to move with his
father. This is where Dwayne Wade began to play basketballand found out that he was really good
at it. He was a star on his high school varsity basketball team then moved up to the college and
was unable to play for his first two years because of his grades. For these two years that Wade
couldn t play he still practiced with the team and continued to work on and improve his game. In
2003 Wade entered the NBA draft and was selected to play with the Miami Heat where he made
himself an All star and still is an all star today. People who play basketball are affected in many
positive ways by it. African Americans that come from low income families and dangerous
neighborhoods often play basketball. Young African Americans see playing basketball as a ticket to
a better life and a cheaper education. Black students receive more athletic scholarships than any
other race. In 2008 African Americans received twenty three percent of all athletic

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On The Mountains Going and taking micro adventures to the mountains which were fairly close to my house was a bit of a semi common thing, however going with only friends of mine was a thing I didn t do at all. When the suggestion to go up by my friend Alex was made, Jesse and I quickly agreed to go along with this plan. We then proceeded to make our way to the mountain and as we were driving up I decidedto chime in and make a suggestion, saying We should climbup from the base of the waterfall everybody else quickly agreed since that seemed to be a nice little leisure activity for a group of teenagers. With the weather slowly warming melting the snow on the mountains causing water flow the scenery was just gorgeous, with many rocks having a bright reflective look caused by the sun and water interacting. This scenery was just perfect for a climb up the fall. As we climbed we all took notice of just how pretty the mountain was. Seeing trees, rocks, water spiders, and many other things we don t see every single day. As we continued up the mountain we eventually got this amazing area with some more reflective brown gorgeous rocks that were similar to a bunch of tiny steps. With all the water running down the rocks my dark brown Sperry s I decided to wear started to show why they were called boat shoes this is because they were quite good at sticking to surfaces without slipping. Even though highly unorthodox with my shoes for some reason they seemed to work quite well except for coming untied more times than I would have enjoyed. As we continued to climb we took a few group pictures as well as making a fair amount of jokes to help ease our minds off of the physical work we were putting into climbing up this mountain. After we climbed up for about fifteen minutes much of the rocks that had places for our feet to go into and cradle providing full support were gone and being left with solely smooth rocks that if you wanted you could slide down with relative ease. So the rate at which we were scaling these rocks had to slow, however not terribly but our speed was crippled by being a little more cognizant and careful. Never the less we continued to climb up, eventually a few more these rocksteps showed up and of course we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alien Abductions Essay The Psychology Behind Alien Abductions Alien abductions are no longer things of science fiction novel and movies. In the late 1940s, UFO and alien sightings became a nation wide phenomenon. With the reported sightings and abductions, came mass media, but also heavy criticism. If nothing else, these descriptions illustrate that the AAE is a dynamic, elaborate, and involved experience, rich in contextual detail, with considerable perceptual, psychological, cognitive, and physical concomitants (p. 255). Over the course of seventy years, scientists have delved into the mindset of these victims and uncovered the underlying causes of the reported experiences. Extensive research has been conducted to determine the psychological aspects of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donald Spence believes that this may be the case in his article Abduction Tales as Metaphors . The alien narrative is a substitute for the cultural crisis Robert Thoreau describes as a less empowered, more alienated, and less predictable citizens (Spence 177). Most abductions have the similar traits of powerlessness and uncertainty, while powerful beings degrade their bodies and leave them traumatized (177). When contrasting modern day abductions and mid twentieth century ones, Spence found that the narratives are also reflective of our times. Early aliens were generally characterized as a jovial creatures, while modern day extraterrestrials are described as malevolent creatures. The stark contrast is a subliminal metaphor for the cultural atmosphere of the time. The early Kennedy and Eisenhower years marker great progress within the American society and stability. As the political and cultural climates have changed, the tales of little gray men turn into an ominous fight for freedom. Deciphering the actual cause of reports alien abductions may never be solved, but many psychologists have theories. While Spence believes the alien abduction phenomenon is a metaphor for our society, psychologist Roy Baumeister believes reports are made by masochists. A person who is sexually gratified by pain, degradation, etc., that is self imposed or imposed by others. Dr. Baumeister believes the reports stem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Born at Ghent, 1500; died at Yuste, in Spain, 1558; was a descendant of the house of Hapsburg, and to this descent owed his sovereignty over so many lands that it was said of him that the sun never set on his dominions. Charles was the son of Philip, Duke of Burgundy, by Joanna, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella, and Burgundy was the first heritage to which he at his led, on his fathers death in 1506. As he was a minor at that time, his aunt, Margaret of Austria, undertook the regency for him. But the power left in the hands of ChiГЁvres, and the Burgundians provoked the uprising in Castile known as the War of the Communidad. It was a movement of the cities. In Castile the discontentment of the ruling classes was joined to that of the handicraftsmen and labourers, in Valencia the movement was exclusively one of mechanics and the proletariat. The rebellion failed because the commercial cities of Southern Castile took no part in it, and because Charles, acting upon his own judgment, placed Spaniards, instead of foreigners, in positions of authority. In 1520 Charles left Spain to take possession of the German Empire to which he had been elected. The French king, Francis I, had been his rival for the dignity; Leo X thought that his interests in Italy were endangered by Charles election. The Kingdom of Navarre was already a matter of contention between France and Spain, while France and the Netherlands wrangled over the original Dukedom of Burgundy as well as Tournai, Flanders, Artois, and some lesser territories. War had not broken out over these questions, and nothing indicated that Charles would be a warlike prince; but he had broken the alliance with France made under ChiГЁvres. The Holy See opposed the election of Charles even more vigorously than France. As King of Aragon, Charles was heir to the Kingdom of Naples, a papal fief; the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. United States V Julius Steinnberg And Julius Rosenberg And... In early March of 1951, the case United States v Julius Rosenberg, Ethel Rosenberg, and Morton Sobell argued whether the Rosenbergs planned execution should forgo or be rescinded for violating the Espionage Act of 1917 and being guilty of starting the Korean War. In the late 1940 s and early 1950 s the Cold Warwas ongoing, with the United States and the Soviet Unionentrenched in an ongoing battle over the supremacy of the west. Paul Frazier, an author for the Magazine of History in Bloomington states, One of the most intriguing aspects of the Cold War relationship between the Americans and the Soviets was the development of vast networks of spies and counterspies (Frazier). The United States and the Soviet s relationship establishes an early conflict between the two nations, further affecting future diplomatic relations. Julius Rosenberg s sympathy towards the Soviets and anger towards the United State s current position on the world s economic stage ultimately led to his act of traitorous espionage. Michael Browning, a writer for the Palm Beach Post newspaper states, What united the Rosenbergs was a belief in communism, strengthened by the Depression and Russias fight against Hitler during World War 2 , (Browning). The United States depression and Julius s admiration for Russia s fight against Hitler motivated him to turn against his home nation during a time of crisis. To conclude, Cold War tensions and Julius s appreciation for Soviet life and government illustrates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More people don t care or think about their family anymore, only thinking about themselves. It also is to show that your actions affect others. • 11. Enslavement Disrupted the African’s Authentic Culture Essay There was a misconception that African people did not have any culture and they were not civilized. But they had a culture that was similar to that of the Europeans and other races. However it was interrupted when the Europeans decided to take them from Africa and transplant them in America as slaves. As a result, their authentic cultures were drastically changed from the way of life in their native Africa to life in the plantation society of the Americas. In this essay, I will attempt to show how the conditions of enslavement disrupted all dimensions of the African s authentic culture. To aid in my analysis, I will be using the Reid Culture Conflict Model as a guide and also drawing upon the works of Olaudah Equiano, Venture Smith,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, according to Equaino, Adultery was sometimes punished with slavery or death .... (191). Africans did not have a high tolerance for cheaters as they were penalized severely. The economic system of rural Africa was based mainly on agriculture. Equiano indicates that Agriculture is our chief employment; and everyone, even the children and women are engaged in it (194). The people planted and harvested their fruits and vegetables and hunted for their meat. In addition to farming, the women had additional roles. Equiano says When our woman are not employed with the men in tillage, their usually occupation is spinning and weaving cotton, which they afterwards dye and make it into garments (192). Africans also manufactured items. According to Equino, of course we have few manufactures. They consist for the most part of calicos, earthen ware, ornaments and instruments of war and husbandry. The Conflict Between Israel and Palestine Essay examples The conflict between Israel and Palestine has tight roots in history, stretching thousands of years back to when the Israelites first forged their way into the land, then known as Canaan. It came to its peak in 1948, the year Israel declared its independence (Beinin). Ever since then, the volatile area of Palestine has become a battle ground for war, terrorism, and politics. The two nations have attempted to make agreements, but so far, none of them have succeeded in creating long lasting peace. With heavy border control on the surface, traders have turned to smuggling goods through subterranean tunnels that burrow into Egypt. It is estimated that around 15,000 jobs are found in the tunnels, smuggling anything from weapons and cement, to food and cigarettes. These jobs are very much high risk, however, with cave ins increasingly common. (Myre) If Israel dropped their blockade and opened up more trading opportunities for the people of Gaza, there would be a significant decrease in accidents in these smuggling tunnels, and their economy would be better off. Above all else, it would express to the Palestinians of Gaza that Israel was prepared to trust them. The second step in ending this violent conflict in the Middle East is for Israel to lift their occupation and settlement on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. If Palestinians and Israelis had settled for the terms outlined in the original United Nations partition plan in 1947, history might have taken a very different path. This plan would have split the land into two different states, an Arab state, and an Israeli state. There are two parallel love stories, in the first half of the novel Bronte concentrate on the love of Heathcliff and Catherine but in the second half there was a less dramatic love story between little Catherine and Hareton. The love story of Heathcliff and Catherine is rooted in their childhood and is marked by the refusal to change. Catherine and Heathcliff were identical in sharing their perception. There is some debate about this concept, including the history of green marketing, the problems with green marketing so far, the effectiveness of marketing schemes like Sunchips and Toyota, and the strategies that could be used to increase the ability of green marketing. • 23. The Nature Of Human Activity Archaeology, the study of the material remains of human activity, depends on certain sources of data and the interpretation thereof. It is not always easy to distinguish explicit expressions of theory within the archaeological reports that follow excavations. However, it is nearly impossible to find empiricism, which is an inherently implicit element of theory and is therefore very difficult to express outright. The most general definition is that empiricism holds that knowledge comes through sense and experience. In archaeology, an additional facet is added to the definition: the ability of items of the archaeological record, artifacts or data, to speak for themselves through sheer scientific inquiry. There are many sub descriptions of empiricism. The two most common are vulgar empiricism, which is a strictly atheoretical perspective, that is to say without theory or even outside of theory, not to be confused with the other, empirical sufficiency, the necessity that a claim be backed by empirical data. Though hidden under other theories, empiricism is within all archaeological processes. It is from these shadows of theory that the archaeological community should bring empiricism into the open and acknowledge it as a necessary part of the archaeological interpretation process. The word empiricism is derived from the ancient Greek word for experience, empeiria. The authors will talk about how a computer engineering firm produced the first prototypes of the Arpanet, and how a group of men made the Internet as we know it today. It tells the intriguing story of how the technology for the Internet was devised. In many respects, it is very much a behind the scenes kind of documentary. When thinking about the Internet, one always appears to assume that the development of computer technology has been driven by a few giants of the industry. Indeed, we always assume that it is the big people that made it. And yet, the truth is very different. The authors show us how many of the developments surrounding the Internet were brought about with the support and often the leadership of the government. Indeed, it was the government funding that made a lot of these realities possible. Thus, this is basically a case study of what the development of networking achieved. In the book, we encounter the process of packet switching, which is a technique in which a digital message is broken up into smaller packets that can be routed separately through a network to their destination. This is how the Internet was discovered. The two authors follow the story from the conception of the idea of packet switching in the early 1960s to the creation and development of the Internet. • 35. The Worst Mistake Of My Life June 10, 2017, just a fun summer night, or that s what me and my cousin thought it was going to be. Little did I know, that was going to be the worst mistake of my life. My dad was out of town for a rock concert and my grandma was gone to help my Great grandpa because he had cancer. So that left us with just our grandpa. Around 6 o clock my best friend called me and invited me and my cousin over for a BBQ. He came to pick us up and i was told to be home around 12. As we all sat around the picnic table outside laughing and having a good time, my friends parents went around taking everyone s keys away, including the ones that weren t drinking. Even though no one would be able to get me home when i was supposed to, that didn t stop me from drinking. Beer after beer and a few shots of liquor here and there. I got a little too carried away and completely disregarded the time. One oclock started to approach and we realized that we were going to be in BIG trouble if we didn t get home. We sat there trying to figure out what we were going to do because we didn t want to have to call our grandpa. It was around 1:30 when we finally made a decision, but we never expected that, that one decision would change our lives. We knew we had to get home before my grandpa would wake up and see that we still weren t at home. So we took it upon ourselves to walk home. We didn t really think anything of it because my house was only a few blocks from my friends, but we seemed to have forgotten ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many composers prior to the 1920s gained their fame and fortune through music and their creativity in composing. John Milton Cage, Jr. was born in Los Angeles on September 5th in 1912. Cage was the son of John Milton Cage, Sr., an inventor, hence the creativeness yet to come through his music. In 1928, Cage graduated from Los Angles High School with the intent to pursue a degree in writing. He also experimented with tape recorders, record players, and radios, finding the music around him in the simplest objects, otherwise not considered instruments by the typical composer or musician. After realizing his makeshift instruments were not what he needed, he began brainstorming ideas for new instruments. Pieces such as Imaginary Landscape No. 4 and Water Music were just a few examples of his creativity in music. For Imaginary Landscape No. 4 Cage used twelve radios played at once to create this composition. Water Music was created by combining shells and water to form a masterpiece. Cage used unimaginable items such as kitchen gadgets, metal sheets, various common objects, and even silence to create a discovery no other composer had considered before. It was astounding to see that these rhino are being affected by poaching and habitat loss. For me, personally the poaching was the most horrific thing that I never wanted to see happen to a rhino. The thing that really bothered me was the poaching had dramatically declined the rhino population in the 50s and 60s. Many people, who poached the rhino, literally left them to die and they care about the repercussion of the situation. They caused the population of the rhinos to decline and they not think about the affect it had to the ecosystem and they continue not to care. As long as they are able to get what they want, they do not care about the global effects this has. Throughout the research that as done about black rhino, we learned that black rhino are poached for many different reasons, as some was discussed for Chinese medicine or Jambaya handle or as an aphrodisiac. • 39. Argumentative Reflection For Student Learning For Children... Hello Czarina, 1) I like that you mentioned that students learn when they are having fun and when they are interested in the lesson; this seems especially important for children with ADHD. It is certainly important to treat Sam the same way as the other children, while also correcting behavior that disrupts the class, as you mentioned. 2) I wanted to share a motivational video about ADHD as opposed to the negative aspects of ADHD so I m glad you enjoyed Stephen Tonti s talk! As for things that he isn t interested in taking him a long time to complete, I also wondered if this is a normal challenge that most people face, but is just exacerbated for him because of his ADHD. Also, I can t help but wonder what kind of a role personality plays in this phenomenon. 3) You brought up a great point, inattentiveness can be dangerous! Too often I see people taking selfies while driving, and on their phones in general. I also liked your point on internal validation, which I don t hear discussed (or written about) often enough. Hello Kinda, 1) Great ideas on how to help Sam! Giving him an active job in the classroom would allow him to speak and move in the class without it being disrupting to his teacher or his peers. 2) Glad you enjoyed the video. As you pointed out, Steven Tonti did a great job pointingout the useful qualities of ADHD instead of the negative sides of the symptoms, which is usually all that is discusses. • 40. Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning trophies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Ethical And Unethical Medical Experiments In the fourth century B.C., the renowned Greek physician Hippocrates created the Hippocritical Oath. This oath, a code of conduct followed by physicians from the very beginnings of medical history, proclaims that one must do no harm to their patients or subjects. It also requires that the person swearing this oath leads an exemplary personal and professional life (Briticanna, 2008). Nowhere in this oath does Hippocrates even insinuate that a doctor cannot perform experiments on a humanbeing, nor does he deem it unethical. However, a handful of doctors have crossed the fine line that distinguishes the difference between ethical and unethical human medical experimentation. Josef Mengele did far more than just cross that line. He conducted his experiments without any recognition of its existence. Not only would he perform radical surgeries, but he would also inject one twin with a series of diseases and wait for the child to die. Then, the other twin would be killed in order to perform a cross examination of the effect the disease had on the subjected body. That is not all that was done to the body after death. • 43. Data Partition Properties And Its Structure For Preparing... Map/Reduce is a structure for preparing parallelizable issues crosswise over gigantic datasets utilizing a substantial number of PCs (hubs), all things considered alluded to as a group i.e. if all hubs are on the same local network and use the same hardware) or a framework i.e. if the hubs are shared crosswise over geologically and authoritatively conveyed systems, and use a more heterogenous hardware. Handling can happen on data saved either in a file system unstructured or in a database organized. Map/Reduce can exploit domain of data, preparing it on or close to the storage resources with a specific end goal to reduce the length over which it must be transmitted. Jiaxing et al. proposes SUDO, an advancement system that reasons about data partition characteristics, working properties, and data shuffling. They contend that reasoning about data partition properties crosswise phases opens up chances to reduce extravagant data shuffling. For instance, in the event that we realize that data partitions from past computation phases as of now have alluring properties for the following phase, we have the method to stay away from superfluous data shuffling steps. The fundamental obstruction to reasoning about data partition properties crosswise over processing phases is the utilization of UDFs [4]. At the point when a UDF is viewed as a black box , which is typically the case, we must expect conservatively that all data partition characteristics are lost subsequent to applying ... • 44. Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s... Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish Boy s Progress, as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the lower class in the 19th century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place, saying that each parish was required to care for their poor within the area. Many viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking ambition. Dickens uses irony to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated to remain in that manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is described as being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver between living the life he has just been born into, and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born into the next , presumably better, life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation Oliver found himself in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish surgeon who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings emphasis to the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who is drunk and a surgeon who is there as he has no other choice. The author again juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic situation to the ideal situation of childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced nurses, and doctors of profound ...
