Syrian Refugees Crisis Research Paper
Ryan Wallach
Syrian Refugee Crisis
Syria s civil war is a really big problem in our society right now. Many of the people living there
have been killed or forced to leave the country. The issue is starting to be an immense problem for
many European countries. Many families are leaving Syria and seeking asylum in different
countries such as: Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey. These people are wanting to make new homes in
these countries but face many overwhelming struggles. The conditions of Syria are horrible. People
are becoming sick due to lack of sanitation and kids are ill treated and famished. Most kids have
dropped out of school and many children are forced to work to support their families. These
families have decided that staying is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Unites States economy would have a positive impact if we allowed refugees to come in.
According to Studebaker, foreign born immigrants contribute almost $19,000 more in tax
receipts each decade than they consume in government benefits. This means the refugees pay
for their public services. Refugees would contribute lots of money so in return states could build
new schools and employ more teachers to teach the influx of new children. The website
benjaminstudebaker.com also stated that the Government would make a net profit of $3,000
per immigrant over the next decade for an overall gain of $30 million. So immigrants are a
positive investment for our society. Also, immigrants have to go through a 20 month process to
be admitted into the U.S. So you can assume that these refugees are going to be safe. Probably
the most important argument is that taking refugees in is the right thing to do. According to the
Jewish Journal whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saves an entire world. So America
could be the great savior and help Syrian refugees to have a good life and safe future. No Syrian
refugee has been arrested on a terrorism charge so it would be safe to say the threat is minimal.
Also, The US owes these refugees. Without the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, there would have
been no al Qaeda in that part of the world, and no al Qaeda offshoots like Daesh/ ISIL according
to AlterNet. The U.S also has accepted almost 20,000 refugees from Iraq last year so it is really
foolish to not accept Syrians but to accept Iraqis. AlterNet also concluded that the united states has
to step up and face one of the world s great humanitarian crises. Another good reason for America
to take in Syrian refugees because the need is crucial. Most Syrians are homeless and others have
been forced to flee the country. Europe is

Louise Erdrichs novel Love Medicine is a novel with many characters who are quick to judge one
specific character: June Kashpaw. Using Junes homeland, culture, family, physical descriptoion,
psychological profile and how others view her the author allows her readers to view June as a
resilient and strong woman. The author talks about June s culture and homeland to allow us to get
to know June better as a character. The importance of June s family members is relevant when the
author uses these characters to show June s past and strong mind. June s physical and
psychological profile show resiliency of a strong hearted woman. How others view June and their
opinions of her show that June is a woman who has been through many tough times and always
pushed to get though even if she hurt people on the way. Although June was criticized often
throughout the novel, it is shown that June was a woman who had endured a lot of her pain and
hurt in her lifetime however; she continued to do what she needed to do to protect

Development Of A Service Innovation
Introduction:
The aim of the report is to discuss the development of a service innovation in a hospital care setting.
Therefore the innovation being introduced in the report will focus on the pain management tool for
assessing chronic conditions in service users with dementia in hospital settings. As pain is a very
subjective experience it is important that the tool is specifically based on the individual s own way
of expressing and communicating their pain in relation to their chronic conditions.
The first section of this report will review and evaluate a body of evidence to support the
development of the pain management tool by looking at the subject of the change management
proposal, the relevant stake holders and the change agent to support the change. Secondly the report
will focus on theories and strategies to management of change by using change management model
and explaining the process of it. Thirdly the issues and experience of being a team member in the
development of the service improvement proposal will be reflected and also explore the dynamics
of the team. Lastly for the transition from student nurse to registered nurse, based on the findings
from the evaluation of personal performance further development will be discussed identifying the
leadership skills needed and design an action plan which includes outcomes and how these
outcomes will be measured.
The aim of the change is to:
Identify and recognise pain for dementia patients with chronic

Analysis Of The Movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail
In class, we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This movie is set in the time
of the middle ages (roughly 476 1453). It follows King Arthur and his knights as they search for
the Holy Grail. They look for the Holy Grail after they are told to by God. The movie at first may
seem like nonsense and a silly parody, but in reality, Monty Python and the Holy Graildemonstrates
the truth of the Middle Ages, feudal hierarchy, and other topics we have discussed in class.
In the Middle Ages, the Church was one of the most powerful forces. It was a very important
part of the people s culture and was a unifying force for them. It gave people a common belief,
protection and a sense of safety in a time of war. Many people relied on it to receive sacraments
and go to heaven, especially peasants because that was about all they had going for them. The
Church and it s matters were taken seriously and they maintained power throughout the Middle
Ages. In the movie, the power of the church is shown in many scenes. For example, in the scene
where King Arthur and his knights are trying to get into the cave but the rabbit is stopping them,
they call in the priests to give them the Holy Hand Grenade . The priests take it very seriously and
tell Arthur very specific instructions for it. He activates it and blows up the rabbit they are able to
enter the cave. This shows that they believed that the church and God had the most power and the
power to do anything. In a time of need, they turned to the Church.
The feudal system was the method of government that was used in the Middle Ages. The feudal
pyramid consisted of four levels, King at the top, Church Official and Nobles/Lords next, then
Knights, and peasants at the bottom. The King had the most power, the nobles were sometimes
vassals to the king, knights fought in the king s army, and peasants worked in the field all day
and were very poor. In one scene of the movie, peasants are seen working in the fields. They are
very dirty and have bad quality clothing which shows how little money and power they had
compared to King Arthur, who had fancy clothing and did not have to work. King Arthur then asks
the peasants who their lord is, which shows how lords or vassals

Opium War Dbq Essay
The Opium War was a major part of China s history. There were many economic issues, (the high
cost of importing opium), political issues (disobedience of Chinese ban on opium imports) and
consequences of the British victory (Britain s greater power over China) that precipitated the
Opium war, but the British victory had the greatest impact on Chinabecause the extension of
British power reduced China s autonomy and made them more dependent on Europe. The high
cost of importing opium had major consequences that weakened the Chinese economy and was a
leading cause for the Opium War. Document A is a record of the British Imports and Exports at
the Port of Canton. The average price of imported opium was ten times greater than that of Cotton
Yarn, the second highest average price import. The combined total value of imported opium alone
was over 16 million Spanish dollars, while the total value of exported items was less than 23 million

Documen F is a collection of excerpts from the Treaty of Nanking, which is the document that
ended the first Opium War. This document contains various benefits for the British such as the
ceding of Hong Kong and the payment of six million dollars for the deaths of British soldiers
during the war. This document expresses the actions of the British to extend further control over
China by acquiring from them a major port and a significant sum of money. The Treaty of Nanking
is one of many unequal treaties that the British employed to provide favorable conditions for
themselves. Document G is written by Feng Kuei Fen and articulates his discontent of British
power over China. He finds it shameful that after the British victory, China had been unable to
remove its dependence on Western information. By stating that the Chinese people are unable to
compete with European innovations, he is justifying Britain s power over

Persuasive Speech On Climate Change Day
For climate change day, I went up to the capital to listen to Governor Dayton speak about the
topic, and what is in the future. Governor Dayton talked about the goal for Minnesota to become
50% renewable energy by the year 2030. People listening had a chance to ask him questions, and
one of the questions that really made everyone agree with was, If Minnesota eventually wants to
become 100% clean energy, why are we still allowing oil companies on our land to pump oil, the
shipment of oil products through Minnesota, and the use of energy causing pollution in
Minnesota? I personally thought Dayton s response was pretty, because he addressed it very well
with the following, If we were to completely cut off the use and shipment of any oil products...

I learned more than I ever thought possible. Apparently quite a few farmers use a nitrogen based
fertilizer that causes water contamination, and ruins the environment. Throughout this whole
experience, it really surprised me how many people actually care about climate change, and how
their is a law trying to be passed right now to get rid of the only group of people in the Minnesota
government fighting for the environment. The one and only group in the government in all of
Minnesota is waiting to see if this bill will be passed in the next couple months to get rid of
them. I find that completely erratic. Along with the surprise, I also had this overwhelming
feeling of hope for the future I never had before. I am really passionate about the environment,
and climate change, and to see all these people in one room, all supporting this one thing was
truly amazing. It was the first time in forever I actually felt hope for the future. This experience
really changed the way I felt about the future like I said, and with that, I am going to see what
else I can do to help. Try and help even more, with not only doing my part, but also volunteering
with different groups who do larger parts in communities, and try to help more in that way. This
entire day showed me so much, and so many possibilities out there to help. Climate change is a
rather large issue, but there is still hope out. We all just need to do our part, and 100% clean energy
will eventually happen. There is still

The clinic has been very successful in managing patients IBD symptoms in a timely manner while
preventing unnecessary emergency department visits, and alleviating anxiety and depression
associated with the unpredictable flares, ineffective pharmacological management and potential
development of negative self image. Kurina, Goldacre and Gill (2001) stated that over 60 percent of
the studied population with IBD had anxiety and/or depression. Poor symptom management,
ineffective coping mechanisms, lack of support, and negate self imaging, are the main risk factors
associated with the anxiety in the population with IBD (Bannaga Selinger, 2015). Melissa
concurred with the above statement and indicated that the interprofessional collaborative treatment
approach at the clinic offers short wait times, multidimensional support and long term follow up for
the patients. She also stated that her role includes all categories of core competencies of an NP
(Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2010; Wilson, 2016). The NP assesses patients at the clinic,
based on the laboratory work and biopsies taken during a colonoscopy, she confirms whether the
patient has IBD and specifies the type. In cases with previously known condition she assesses the
intensity of the flare and decides upon further actions, which include medication initiation

How Does The Catcher In The Rye Existentialism
Everyday in contains a series of choices. Some choices are more impactful than others, but all
choices are important. Existentialism, prevalent through the 1940 60s, believes that living is made
through choices, and if one is not living then they are simply existing. In Salinger s fiction novel,
the Catcher in the Rye, he portrays existentialismthrough his main character, Holden, and his
experiences as a teenager. Holden is faced with many decisions throughout his time at Pencey and
since getting expelled. Salinger expresses the significance of the existentialist element of self choice
through the protagonist s habitual decisions to distance himself from the controlling nature of
society.
One of the first instances where Salinger presents the importance of choice is when Holden tells
about an instant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holden describes experiences where he has been close to having sex, but he never follows
through. He describes that he ll be necking with a girl and one thing leads to another but then, they
tell [him] to stop, so [he] stops (92). This moral decision contradicts what Holden society because
of who he is surrounded by. When Holden describes his roommate, Stradlater, he describes a similar
situation where Holden witnessed a girl telling Stradlater to stop and he wouldn t stop. Holden s
decision to not carry through with sex depicts the existentialist element of choice which society
disagrees with. This situation is repeated when Holden orders a stripper and decides not to have sex
with her. James Bryan further explains in the Psychological structures of the Catcher in the Rye
that the sexual experiences he cannot carry through with, un consciously alienates himself from
many of the people he encounters which represent society. Holden exemplifies an existentialist
through his authentic decisions which separate himself from society s

Pickup Vehicle Case Study
Car models come and go, but a few vehicles such as the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Corvette, and
Volkswagen Golf have tremendous staying power, measured in decades. At the same time, there
are some discontinued models we d like to see make a comeback, including two expected to return
in the next year or two.
1. Subaru BRAT The last time Subaru produced a pickup truck was from 2003 to 2006, with the
Baja. Decades earlier, beginning in 1978, Subaru offered the trendsetting BRAT, the first small
pickup truck with all wheel drive.
Besides its off road capabilities, the BRAT was noteworthy for its two truck bed jump seats, what
allowed Subaru to skirt a 25 percent tariff on light pickup trucks. That loophole was later closed

They also know that the true muscle car version rolled out in 1970, as a near twin to the Dodge
Challenger.
Two inches shorter than the Challenger and with its own sheet metal, the Cuda was the less costly
of the two. However, these days, a clean Hemi powered Cuda fetches many times the amount of a
similar Challenger at auction. After all, there s nothing quite as drool worthy as a Hemi Cuda
Convertible.
Don t hold your breath. Rumors of a Dodge Barracuda model have surfaced in recent years,
representing a scaled down version of the Dodge Challenger. But parent Fiat Chrysler is not awash
in cash to invest in this model nor is the market especially favorable for yet another pony car.
4. Dodge Dakota Introduced in 1986, the Dodge Dakota had a 25 year run, then canceled. The
Dakota was a trendsetting model for its time as it was the first midsize pickup truck. Its larger size
signaled the start of a movement whereby manufacturers replaced small trucks with larger models,
such as the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier.
A Ram Dakota would be the logical complement to the Ram 1500, and enable Fiat Chrysler to
match Chevrolet, Toyota, GMC, Nissan, and soon Ford with an effective 1 2 pickup punch. We
think a Dakota outfitted with the available Ram Box storage management system and an optional
diesel engine would make such a model a hit if it returned.

The Matrix And Charlie Angels
Everyone has their own movie preference. There are people who adore the hardcore action and
there are some who prefer the slow paced drama. Many individuals may not like a movie because
of the genre it is in. A genre is a categorization of certain types of movies based upon their style,
form, or content. The genre is a vital component of a filmsince it characterizes which course the
plot line will go and allows to prepare yourself for that film. Movie genre is the term used to
differentiate between various number of films. There are around five fundamental groups that are
big and prevalent i.e. Action, Horror, Comedy, Science fiction. In this essay ,I will be comparing
two films, The Matrixand Charlie Angels. I will discuss the use of cinematography, the genres of
the films, and how effective they are. I will also look at the characters, action, plot ,sound and
atmosphere created, and how these are aimed at each film s target audience.
Charlie s Angels is an action comedy film, which borrows ideas from other well known movies
such as Mission Impossible , James Bond etc. It is not very original or challenging, has a weak
and predictable plot, and is merely an update on the 1970 s television series of the same name.
The film is based on a trio of beautiful women who are hired to retrieve a man and his technology.
They achieve this by working together, using their intelligence, a series of cunning plans, combined
with an impressive display of girl power.

Parents And Children Should Not Have Vaccinations
Some critics believe parents and children should not have vaccinations. There s still a debate
going on because the medical community does not agree. Healthcare professionals believes
everyone should be vaccinated and it is very important. They believe vaccinations protect you
when traveling, prevent childhood illnesses, it s painless, and you take it once and you are
protected for life (Pros and Cons, 2015). These diseases from other countries can be brought back
into the United States and cause an outbreak of diseases. Other people believe vaccinations are
90% 95% effective, but there is still 5% that can still come in contact with the disease (Pros and
Cons, 2015). They think it doesn t capture the illness and immunity lasts longer if created by natural
circumstances (Pros and Cons, 2015). Some schools require certain vaccinations to be taken before
starting to school. Fourteen studies have been conducted by Amanda Peet, a vaccinemanufacturer,
and she believes there is no association between autism and vaccines. No real studies have ever
been done but medical professions believe this is fake (Peet, n.d). Whether or not a parent cannot
pay for vaccinations is no problem. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) distributes vaccines to
state health departments and other local agencies. These agencies distribute them to private
physicians offices, at no charge to those receiving vaccines (Vaccines for Children, 2014). The
Childhood Immunization Support Program (CISP) has

Fat taxes have been experimented with in numerous European countries. There are many benefits
such as boosting economic growth, improving health and elongating life expectancy. On the
contrary if a fat tax is implemented into a weak economy it could cause the loss of jobs due to
higher prices. These higher prices cause local consumers to begin to purchase their unhealthy
products in different states or countries, causing the loss of business for local industries. France,
Hungary and Denmark all have experimented with the enactment of a fat tax. All four countries

Energy drink producers have changed their recipe, playing a cat and mouse game with the
government and their new tax regulations. There is much opposition and debate over this, and
difficult economic times have created unrest with the residents. Still, the tax with all of this
negative feedback has survived, unlike the experiment performed in Denmark. Denmark
implanted a fat tax on food products containing more than 2.3% saturated fat. After only being in
place for one year, Denmark repealed the fat tax and got rid of an impending tax on sugar in
2012. The tax was causing the loss of jobs due to the increased cost of doing business .
Consumers began buying food products in Sweden and Germany. Many younger adults who
would frequently purchase bags of chips after school simply began buying different brands of
potato chips that merely just changed the types of ingredients to meet the governments fat tax
demands. While the tax did bring in $216 million for the government, the higher price of meat,
dairy and butter proved to be too much for the Hungarian economy to handle. With the loss of
consumers in Denmark, business owners were not able to sustain consistent sales to stay profitable.
Americans would have even less options for buying foreign food products considering our
geography, compared to that of Denmark. With mixed results it is necessary to carry out
evaluations before implementing a fat tax. The state of

Morning After Pill
There is a pill becoming readily available that would aid in reducing the amount of unwanted
pregnancies. It is the morning after pill as it is being called. This pill can be used during the first
three days after unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent the fertilization of an egg or the
attachment of a fertilized egg to a woman s uterus. The question is not necessarily in the ethical
issue of the pill itself. The problem or question lies in the issue of the pill being sold with or
without a prescription. The measure would allow girls and women to obtain this medication,
without a physician s visit or prescription and without parental consent regardless of the patient s

Not only for the individuals trying to purchase the pill but also for pharmacists. There is a
spillover effect to also consider; how the medication will be sold. Will it be put next to over the
counter drugs or condoms? Or would it be sold only behind the counter, meaning the pharmacist
still must hand then over even though no do prescription is required? These are questions that need
to be considered before making a decision.
In Summary, the pill remedies the chance of ineffectiveness of methods of contraception like birth
control and condoms without invasive surgery. The pill has the potential to reduce the number of
surgical abortions and undesired pregnancies in the United States considerably, especially if it is
provided over the counter. The pill is radically more effective the sooner one takes it after
intercourse and the great advantage of making it available over the counter as opposed to by
prescription only, is that it would give a larger number of women faster and more access to it.
Fortunately, for the women of America, the FDA has recommended making the morning after pill

Private Memoirs And Confession Of A Justified Sinner
A tragedy story portrays a noble hero and heroine downfall through use of fate, the will of gods
and hubris. The book Private Memoirs and Confession of a Justified Sinner is a tragedy because
the book narrates a story about Wringham who had involved himself in crimes. At first, evil
triumphs over good as Wringham had been filled with self righteousness and hatred and these
attitudes made him to believe that any crime was right according to his religion including murder.
The story is full of crimes like murder, horror, religious fanaticism, fantasy and folklore (Hogg
Carrey 50). The publisher of the story was popular due to his magazine articles and poetry and
he was also self educated thus he published the book with the idea that the information in the
book is strange. This idea was as a result of horrific theme matter and experimental style which he
used in the book and he knew the general public would not appreciate his book. A French writer
Gide in 1940s argued that the book was a masterpiece. The story has three categories to enable
readers to understand different ways in which the book exist like folklore and local tradition. The
first category summarizes all events which Wringham did to make readers understand why
Wringham opted for confession. The second category narrates of the shocking confession process
of Wringham who was obsessed with crime for a long period. The third section talks of finding of

we all exist in a world populated with our fellow creatures. The study of interactions between
organisms and their environments is called ecology, and in the ecology of the open ocean,
Humboldt squid stand front and center. They are hunted and consumed throughout their lives
by a wide variety of predators. The squid themselves are also voracious generalist predators,
meaning that they eat a wide variety of prey, and lots of it. And, like all animals, Humboldt
squid play the ecological role of host to numerous parasites. A single female Humboldt squid can
lay millions of eggs, of which only a few will survive to adulthood. The rest provide a high
protein buffet for any marine life that can catch them, their vast numbers creating a significant
source of food for small predators. Once they grow up, Humboldt squid are too large to be eaten
by the predators that stalked them when they were young, but there are plenty of larger predators
out there. Tuna, sharks, dolphins, and especially sperm whales love to chow down on Humboldt
squid. In fact, sperm whales in the Gulf of California live almost entirely on Humboldt squid. And
of course, humans catch and eat hundreds of thousands of tons of Humboldt squid every year. But

Becoming A Successful After Secondary Education
It is a dream for most parents to have the opportunity to watch their children full time without
having to worry about working full time, just to pay off their student debt. In the United states, out
of all of the mothers, only 29 percent of mothers are full time stay at home mothers (D Vera Cohn,
Gretchen Livingston, Wang). Cohn, Livingston and Wang study demographic and ethnic trends for
a living (Cohn, Livingston, Wendy Wang). Sadly, in contrast to the 29 percent of stay at home
mother, my friend Holly Haney, works countless hours every day and has to pay a large sum of her
check to student debt. I wish I would have been more educated on student loans. Even though it
was the cool thing to do back then, it certainly isn t anymore (Holly Haney). Like Holly, I am also
learning that in order for me to become successful after secondary education, I need to be more
educated on the dangers of having student debt , so that my future wife will be part of the 29
percent of full time stay at home mothers. By looking over the previous years, even though much
has been said about student debt, very little attention has been paid on the causes and effects of
having student debt. There are many important things to know about student debt, such as what
types of loans are available for students and the advantages and disadvantages of some student
loans. I will show what students have done to get them in financial trouble and some possible

Maleficent Theme
In the movie Maleficent, the audience comes to their own opinions about the main character
Maleficent in the film. This film also features characters like Aurora, Stefan, and Diaval which
allows the audience to see her different sides and views of good and evil through other characters
perceptions of Maleficent. This is seen throughout the film and can be seen with her relationship
between King Stefan and his daughter Aurora along with her servant Diaval. There is no easy way
to define the line between good evil. This is an overarching theme throughout the movie
Maleficent because there are different opinions on these 3 characters and the other background
characters in the film. In the first scene of the movie, we see Maleficent as a good child who is
seen as the strongest of the fairies in this film. When we see her and how the other characters
from the Moors the mythical area in which Maleficent lives, see her as a good, nice, playful, and
very fair person who looks over the Moors and those who live in it. Stefan, in the beginning,
allows ourselves as the audience to see an, even more, a clearer picture of Maleficent and how
good and magnificent she is however from what he does later in the movie to Maleficent
changes how we see her and perceive is good or evil of her. It is seen throughout this film
Maleficent isn t purely evil nor purely good. Sending the message that people are made to be both

The Age Of Digital Technology Essay
This Land is My Land, This Land is Your Land
It is an incalculable added pleasure to any one s sum of happiness if he or she grows to know,
even slightly and imperfectly, how to read and enjoy the wonder book of nature. Theodore
Roosevelt
I m a millennial, in my early 20 s, part of the largest living generation. The first generation to
grow up completely immersed in the age of digital technology. A generation that is known for
duck face selfies. A generation that is now responsible for saving our nation s parks. As for me
and so many other Americans, it s not an overstatement to say that our national parks have
played a major role in shaping my life. As a child, I was drawn to them because of their size and
beauty even at a young age I knew that these places were special. Now, as a young adult, I have
been lucky enough to deepen my understanding of myself by wandering their trails. Last year, over
350 million people visited national parks or forests. Yet, Congress continues to underfund the
National Park Service (NPS) who is responsible for upkeep, training, education, and conservation.

Fedex, An International Express Shipping Company
Page 1
Federal Express, or now known as FedEx, is an international express shipping company that
ships anything from envelopes and small packages to large freight. It was the brain child of
college student Fredrick Smith, when in 1965 at Yale a professor assigned the class to invent an
industry. At that time the only option companies had was to utilized passenger routes to ship
packages, which was not very efficient for time sensitive deliveries. Six years later after Smith
left the military he bought a small company and experienced how difficult it was to get supplies
delivered within a couple of days. Remembering the paper he had written in college, Smith
founded Federal Express in 1973. Starting with 14 small planes today it has grown into the world s
largest al cargo air fleet.
By 1980 FedEx was way ahead of the competition and the company was growing by 40 percent
per year with 1 billion in revenue. Through many international acquisitions and mergers they have
grown internationally and now delivery to over 220 countries. As the demand for express freight
shipments increased so did the need to ship and receive documents overnight. The overnight letter
service was introduced by FedEx in 1981 and is now a part of standard business practices for most
companies in America and the world. Many companies have multiple overnight deliveries and
pickups throughout the day. FedEx saw the future potential of overnight letter, package and freight
deliveries and started to

How Laughter and Music can give you overall better health
Laughter and music are very important in many people s lives. Whether it is a funny joke, seeing
something that s amusing, or starting the day listening to a favorite song, Laughter and music can
make a person feel good. Not many people realize the health benefits that come with laughter and
music; both can affect a person s health in a positive way. This research paper will explain the
ways that both laughter and music can affect the way one s mind works, how it improves the way
one functions, and how it has a positive effect on one s own health overall.

There are many health benefits that come with laughter. First of all, laughter and exercise share
many similar characteristics. When you have a good laugh you get a feeling in your stomach just
like when you ve had a really good workout. Both can boost your health, and ultimately make you
stronger. Sometimes people are faced with tough situations that we have no control over. In those
times you can either get worked up about them, or you can lighten up the situation and have a good
laugh, laughing will help you cope in those unexpected times and help you get through it. It can
make anyone feel better from a difficult situation and that is a great benefit. With that said, laughing
can decrease stress. When we are faced with anxiety, stress hormones like cortisoland epinephrine
start to get high. Lots of laughter will decrease those stress hormones and make you feel better.
According to http://www.cdc.gov/bloodpressure/facts.htm 67 million American adults suffer with
high blood pressure that s 1 of every 3 adults . Laughter can improve cardiac health; laughter can
lower the balance of high blood pressure and is known to increase blood flow. When you are
laughing that is causing your blood to circulate, and increases oxygen. This is what helps fight
against heart disease. Laughing 100 times is equivalent to 10 minutes on a rowing machine or 15

Naked Bouncing Egg Research
What could be better than making a naked bouncing egg?! Making a glowing one, of course!
This activity teaches little scientists about egg anatomy and osmosis takes just a few minutes to
set up but is seriously egg citing! I think it s a good idea for teachers to participate in this
experiment because it s a good way to have fun.
First thing you will need is your materials which is: An egg, clear glass, vinegar, highlighters, and a
blacklight.
Second you have to know how to make a glowing bouncy egg and if you don t know how I will
show you how because it s surprisingly simple the hardest part is having to wait.
To start, I took the polyester cylinder out of the highlighter and squeezed it to extract as much of
the ink as I could. The easiest way was to use my fingers, so be prepared for a little mess. Next, I
very carefully added a raw egg to each of the glasses and covered them with white vinegar. The
pink and orange solutions were very bright, but the solution with the yellow highlighter turned
almost clear when the vinegar was added. Now all I had to do was wait. I could see bubbles
forming on the surface of the egg almost immediately, but I had to wait a couple of days to see the
real results. Two days later, I checked on the eggs and found that the shells had disintegrated. I...

the water with the highlighter ink passed through the membrane into the egg and caused it to

like to be balanced on both sides. The vinegar solution was mostly water with only a little vinegar
and ink in it, while inside the membrane is protein with a little water. So the glowing water
molecules traveled from the vinegar into the egg to try to balance the concentrations. The egg

Ebay Strategic Analysis
Executive Summary
This report seeks to evaluate the major issue facing eBay with regards to its international strategy.
This will be done through the analysis of eBay s competitive environment using the Porter s 5
forces and positioning in the industry using the BCG portfolio matrix. Following which, we will
proceed to identify the sustainable competitive advantages of eBay using the resource based view
of the firm. The core competence of eBay will also be discussed. Through an overview of the
above mentioned analyses, we will propose recommendations to address the problem faced by eBay.

However, it should be noted that not all webhosting companies are able to host the colossal traffic
required by eBay. In addition, eBay would preferably choose a webhosting option that is reliable
and offers round the clock customer service since people conduct business over eBay round the
clock.
Next, there is a moderate threat of substitute services. More and more offline companies are
tapping on the vast potential of the online market through the creation of their online retail sites.
For example, if someone wants to get a Dell computer, he may choose to go to Dell s online store
to purchase it. However, the uniqueness of the online auction site is that almost everything under
the sun can be listed for sale. If a person is looking to buy something special, he can more often
than not find it listed on eBay.
Lastly, there is a great intensity of rivalry among the competitors in the industry. Because of the
potentially lucrative market in Asia, there are many competitors wanting a slice of the pie and that
includes search engine giant, Google. In China, Alibaba owned Taobao is already providing
intense competition by providing zero listing costs and providing customer service catered to the
needs of the local population[2]. In Korea, Gmarket is also providing intense competition by
continuously introducing new marketing initiatives such as the lucky lottery where buyers may be
able to purchase an item for 10% of its retail

On November 23, 1993, Doe was seen by an obstetrician, Dr. James Meserow, at the St. Joseph s
Hospital in Chicago. This was the first time Doe was seen by Dr. Meserow, but she had been
receiving regular prenatal care throughout her pregnancy. Upon giving Doe the usual check up,
he determined from a series of tests that the baby was under duress due to an issue with the
placenta. At this point, it is important to recognize that Doe is a mentally competent woman
carrying her first child, and the fetus is currently around 35 weeks. It also important to recognize
that Dr. Meserow is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Meserow informs both Doe and
her husband of the diagnosis and highly recommends either an immediate cesarean section or to
induce labor in order to prevent any further potential damage to the fetus due to the lack of oxygen
from the compromised placenta. Doe refuses both of the recommendations based on her religious
convictions that God will heal her child and keep it safe from any harm, and will, therefore, wait to
have a natural childbirth.
On December 8, 1993, 14 days after the recommendation of a cesarean section or induced labor,
Doe is examined again by Dr. Meserow, and he is still holding fast to his diagnosis. Doe
continues to state that she refuses on the grounds of religious reasons. However, Doe agrees to be

Long Duration Human Space Flight Missions
Introduction: Long duration human space flight missions are next big thing in space that have
capture our imagination for years. Highly sustainable habitats are necessary to support long
duration human space flight missions as it impractical to re supply logistics (Shaw and Weck,

missions, study of closed loop habitats are essential. Thus, it is essential to review development in

Most of the life support systems for isolated environment use physiological process. The use of bio
regenerative process is relatively new. Bio regenerative process currently in use in terrestrial
confined environment include controlled plant growth chamber in Antarctica and biosphere 2.
Plant growth has been tested in ISS but only for scientific study and not as a part of life support
system. For the future manned space mission, hybrid life support systems in which biological
components are used at the same time with physiochemical technology in a balanced mechanism
for controlling life support parameters. Hybrid life support systems are envisioned for sustainable
long term space habitats but there are concerns about the reliability of bio regenerative process
incorporated to the physiochemical systems. The optimal combination of physiochemical and bio
generative life support systems needs tradeoff among different factors. Numerous bio regenerative
technology should be tested and performance should be evaluated to characterize it. A common
study could be about food subsystem and computation of equivalent system mass. NASA have

manned mars mission have become long term set goals. This has motivated systematic examination

Narrative Essay About Being Jewish

matter what you do, you re different. Not to know that people want to kill you for what you

before it happened. In hindsight, I remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with
rolling mountains of white. Birds chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. However, off in the
distance, the white turned to grayish black and the sky, rather than the serene feeling around
Temple B nai Jehudah, was eerie. In hindsight, this was an omen of things to come. But at the
moment, I wasn t worried about any of that. I was just worried about getting to my youth group

There are numerous numbers of novels and books that offer different portrayals of the female

women, their gender role, and the definition of femininity during this time period. The first thought

women and femininity are own by men and masculinity, in short all women belong to men. While
reading her daughter, Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein it can be argued that she used

Raskolnikov begins to alienate himself from his ex colleague, Razumikhin, although at points it is
Razumikhin who supports Raskolnikov the most. It forces Razumikhin to replace Raskolnikov in
situations that should have been left to his authority. In a situation where Raskolnikov should have
reassured Dounia and Pulcheria of their safety he waved his hand weakly to Razumikhin to cut
short the flow of warm and incoherent consolations he was addressing to his mother and sister
(Part 3. 1). As Raskolnikov began to slowly move away from any form of comfortable socialization
and a growing poverty situation, his stubbornness to contain his pride and dignity eventually builds
up to the brutal murder of Alyona.
Razumikhin is in a similar financial situation as Raskolnikov. Razumikhin foils Raskolnikov in his
response to a desperate situation such as struggling poverty. He faced his struggles with a trial and
error personality. His view stood that you never reach any truth without making fourteen mistakes
and very likely a hundred and fourteen (Part 3. 1). It was in these positive outlooks that make
Raskolnikov realize how intense his isolation was becoming.

Theme Of Respect In The Oddyseyy
As Confucious once said Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from
beasts? Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about
someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect
can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also
because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like
mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of
respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own
love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and
the fit.
Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual;
without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not
only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone
you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected
because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a
formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our
nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most
circumstances), not because of love, but

and later in Europe. The hemp plant was used as a fiber and then later as a fabric, cloth, and
paper. Hemp fiber was first reported being used in Taiwan in 8000 BC to decorate clay pots
followed by its use as bowstrings by Ancient Chinese archers, and subsequently for the creation of
rope in Southern Russia. The invention of rope was an enormous technological advance which

Free Appropriate Public Education Act (EAHCA)
Following the early 1980s, litigation and court decisions had set the stage for additional special
education laws to the Education of All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA) which was
subsequently reauthorized as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This assisted
the primary confirmation of Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to every student by
covering educational costs before to after children reach school age such as the needs of children
with disabilities birth from early intervention services to lessen the potential for delays. It continued

Business Report on
The Internship (2013)
Directed by: Shawn Levy
Starring: Owen Wilson Vince Vaughn
Brief Summary
The Internship is a film revolved around two businessmen who have hit the curb with their recent
downfall in their previous company. Billy McMahon (played by Vaughn) finds a position as an
intern at Google and signs his friend Nick Campbell (played by Wilson) up. Most of the movie is
set at the Google headquarters, and the two businessmen are surrounded by youth (most of the age
of around 21) and given instructions of the course by Mr. Roger Chetty (played by Aasif Mandvi).
The interns are divided into groups, and whom, at the end of the course, only that group will be
given full time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interviewers ask the businessmen; You re shrunken down to the size of nickels and drop to
the bottom of a blender. What do you do? Billy and Nick start to rant about how it s impossible
and going off topic, in the end Nick confessing that him and Billy have been in the blender and
given up, and how they have gotten themselves out and here they are, and how if they really want
to know what happens when you take the guys out the blender, then they re hire them. The question
was probably asked by the interviewers to test the creative thinking of the two businessmen.
When Lyle and Google are considering them he points out that the goal was to find people with a
different way of thinking, as well as the fact that they have more years of sales and experience
than the age of most of the interns. As well he labels the businessmen as out of the box thinkers
who turned being stuck in a blender into an advantage. Another example of creative thinking that
the team develops throughout the movie is at the end when they persuade the pizza company to go
Google, which gets them the jobs at the end. Billy and Nick use their ways to talk to the business

Analysis Of A Night On The Town By Fats Makaye
The topic of the essay that I have selected is called A night on the town: INSPECTOR FATS
Makaye, IVORY PARK. Throughout this story, Fats Makaye has different attitudes towards his
occupation of being a police officer which include being bitter, negative, disillusioned and
demotivated, however Fats Makaye also shows a positive attitude throughout this story. Both of
these attitudes are affected or shaped by either structure or agency. The term social structure is the
complex framework of societal institutions (such as the economy, politics and religion) that makes
up a society and that organises and establishes limits on people s behaviour (school of social
sciences; department of sociology; SOCL 1014 SOCL 1009; IDENTITY AND SOCIETY; PART 1:
INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY COURSE WORKBOOK; Louise Hagemeier and Christine

independently and to make their own free choices (Barker, Chris. 2005. Cultural Studies:... Show

Makaye s attitude. Fat s negative attitude relates to specific events in his past that hinder his
future to be promoted to a higher ranking officer. Mr. Makaye blames his being witheld from a
promotion on the Apartheid system, which was once a law in South Africa until the year of
1994. Mr. Makaye states that he has not yet been promoted, because The old excuse was the
exams (Altbeker, A. 2005. The Dirty Work of Democracy. Jhb: Jonathan Ball Publishers; chapter
12: page 205). Mr. Makaye goes on to elaborate that the exam was a trick to prevent the black
police offers from been promoted to a higher ranking. The structural force in this instance is the
one of Apartheid that would in the past prevent black police officers from receiving a promotion.
Mr. Makaye uses the issue of the Apartheid system as an excuse to cover up his failure to a
promotion in the future and allows him to retain his negative

Under The Feet Of Jesus By Helena Maria Viramontes
The Power of Ethnicity How do we define power in our society? Do you we look at those with
money or those who acquire many things? According to Michael Parenti the structure of whether
or not someone is defined in the sense of powerful or powerlessness relies on their social class
and ethnicity. In the novella Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes, we see the
development of powerthrough the main characterEstrella. It is clear that although Estrella s
background as a powerless migrant workerstruggling to support her family financially she shifts
into a powerful role as an empowered young latina woman. The novella tells the story of a young
migrant worker who is faced the the responsibility to help care for her family not only financially
but in a manner of leadership as well. Throughout the story the character of Estrella changes
drastically from a timid outcast to an outspoken leader. In the beginning Estrella is portrayed as a
quiet young woman who is defined as an outsider. When looking at the character of Estrella she is
characterized in the category as powerless. One reason that we can attribute Estrella s state of
power is her socio economic circumstances. Coming from a family of five, Estrella assumes the role
as the oldest daughter as well as second mother due to her father s recent abandonment on the
family. It is because of this abandonment that Estrella resents her mother s older boyfriend Perfecto,
who in return has gotten her mother pregnant.

From the examiner s report: Many answers demonstrated a significant amount of sociological
knowledge, but failed to take note of the wording of the question, and therefore were unable to
apply the knowledge appropriately. For example, many students ignored the reference to today and
instead launched into a lengthy account of the nature of childhood in the Middle Ages, and
subsequently struggled to focus on the 6 of 8 question. Other students were able to discuss the way
in which childhood was socially constructed and the changing nature of childhood, without
explicitly discussing whether childhood today is being lost. More focused answers tended to use
Postman and Palmer to suggest that childhood was being lost, contrasting these with the views of
Opie and Pilcher that childhood remains distinct. Many made reference to the mass media without
necessarily tying it to the specifics of the question; similarly, others referred to the
commercialisation of childhood without linking this explicitly to the question. Many students
compared various cross cultural models of childhood, and in some cases contrasted these with the
experience of childhood in modern industrial societies. Relatively few students were able to
differentiate between stages of childhood, or address gender or class differences. Overall only a
minority of answers retained their focus on the issue of whether childhood is being lost in society
today. June 2014 Examine the reasons for

Activity1 The following document is intended as a general guideline for collecting, storing and
using HR data in the organisation. Two reasons why the organisation needs to collect HR data: to
inform decision making : when changing policies and procedures it is crucial to have records of

done to prevent them, discipline unsafe behaviours or creating safety checklists. to monitor costs

Argumentative Essay On Avatars
During our class discussion, I found the topic regarding avatars and what they say about us the
most intriguing. At a young age, I was an animations and video game enthusiast; online avatars
are nothing new to me and corresponds to one of my current hobby: cosplay. With cosplay, a
combination of the words costume and play, I pick certain characters from video games or
animations to essentially dress up as, and proceed to hand make the costumes from scratch. It is not
simply the putting on the costume that makes this experience valuable, it s the physical
embodiment of the character that allows you to experience the two dimensional world unknown to
reality. This process of becoming a specific character nails down every detail from the wigs,... Show

In the particular genre of videogames, Waggoner agrees to Marvin Minsky s idea that people s
differentiation between artificial and real or between outside and inside will be blurred since our
connection to the real world is [already] very thin. Waggoner understood that much of this
connection is the relationship between the online user and his/her/their connection to the avatar.
There is a tension in this relationship since the avatar is part of the user, yet still remains
separate for the avatars exist independent[ly]. However, the type of relationship present is
dependent on the user, which is why some people find themselves deeply rooted to the avatar.
This concept ties in the idea of role playing and the ability to essential become a different person.
Waggoner imposed the question whether one s identity [is] any less real than [one s] real world
identity to Morrowind, single player fantasy game, gamers and received very dynamic responses.
The responses ranged from users who isn t willing to concede that [their] virtual identity is as
significant, to users who unconsciously move from the avatar ( he ) to herself

Food Is Cheap, At Least Compared With 4 Years Ago By Dan...
Summary The article that I did was Food is Cheap, At Least compared with 4 years ago by Dan
Charles. This article is about how the global food price index is going down, and has fallen to its
lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like
grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now
since a family will be spending less money on those products. The only place where the prices are
not falling is in the meatindustry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for
beef was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That
in turn caused the producers of the beef to have expectations that the future was going to be
bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because
of these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the
market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now is that the food industry is having
harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per
acre. This has caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork,
poultry, and beef very happy. Their PPI has gone down, so they are getting their things that they
need to feed their animals cheaply. Then they are selling their animals at a very high rate, higher
than normal

We use databases to manage our customers and our portfolio.
Our External sales people use mobile information technology to keep up to date with emails and to

We also receive other sensitive data via the post. We may have been asked to sign non disclosure
agreements (NDA) particularly when it relates to company bank statements, unreleased accounts or
personal information on private individuals. Any information which is sent under an NDA is
scanned to the system into password protected files and only those who need to look at the
information have the password to. Once scanned the information is shredded to ensure it cannot be
used further. We would keep this on file in the password protected folder (which states information
under an NDA) for seven years or indefinitely.
In a similar way information gathered by email would be treated exactly the same as the paper
copies except where shredding is mentioned for obvious reasons.
3b) When following the procedures outlined in Question 3a above, are there any legal requirements
to consider?
We have to consider the data protection act when dealing with information at work as it is usually
sensitive information about individuals or companies finances. We also be bound by non
disclosure agreements. We also have to follow the seven years rule for keeping information as we
are a financial services company.
4. Why is confidentiality critical when managing information?
Confidentiality is critical when managing information because not all information is suitable for all

Why I Should Not Get Better Grades
I have a grown up surrounded by the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation professions, as
my father has held his CPA for nearly 40 years and my parents operate two successful income tax
preparation offices. While in college, I eventually chose to complete a degree in finance, wanting to
branch away from accounting while still being able to take advantage of the knowledge gained
from my upbringing. However, after having experienced multiple professions, my current
employment as a contractor in Chesapeake Energy s accounting department has inspired me to
pursue furthering my education.
As you ll see in from my transcripts, my undergraduate grades were not consistently stellar with
my average GPA being under a 3.0. While I did support myself through college with full time
employment, I do believe that I should have been able to earn better grades more consistently
while completing my undergraduate degree. My impression of that time in my life was that I
lacked the ability to manage my time and I wasn t able to focus on multiple goals. After starting
a career in real estate, I began to regret the lack of focus that I had while completing my degree. I
wanted to prove to myself that I could manage my time wisely and do well in my career while
furthering my education so, nearly two years after completing my bachelor s degree; I enrolled into
an online master s in finance degree with Kaplan University. While working 45 50 hours a week as
a mortgage underwriter, I

  • 2. Syrian Refugees Crisis Research Paper Ryan Wallach Syrian Refugee Crisis Syria s civil war is a really big problem in our society right now. Many of the people living there have been killed or forced to leave the country. The issue is starting to be an immense problem for many European countries. Many families are leaving Syria and seeking asylum in different countries such as: Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey. These people are wanting to make new homes in these countries but face many overwhelming struggles. The conditions of Syria are horrible. People are becoming sick due to lack of sanitation and kids are ill treated and famished. Most kids have dropped out of school and many children are forced to work to support their families. These families have decided that staying is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Unites States economy would have a positive impact if we allowed refugees to come in. According to Studebaker, foreign born immigrants contribute almost $19,000 more in tax receipts each decade than they consume in government benefits. This means the refugees pay for their public services. Refugees would contribute lots of money so in return states could build new schools and employ more teachers to teach the influx of new children. The website benjaminstudebaker.com also stated that the Government would make a net profit of $3,000 per immigrant over the next decade for an overall gain of $30 million. So immigrants are a positive investment for our society. Also, immigrants have to go through a 20 month process to be admitted into the U.S. So you can assume that these refugees are going to be safe. Probably the most important argument is that taking refugees in is the right thing to do. According to the Jewish Journal whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saves an entire world. So America could be the great savior and help Syrian refugees to have a good life and safe future. No Syrian refugee has been arrested on a terrorism charge so it would be safe to say the threat is minimal. Also, The US owes these refugees. Without the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, there would have been no al Qaeda in that part of the world, and no al Qaeda offshoots like Daesh/ ISIL according to AlterNet. The U.S also has accepted almost 20,000 refugees from Iraq last year so it is really foolish to not accept Syrians but to accept Iraqis. AlterNet also concluded that the united states has to step up and face one of the world s great humanitarian crises. Another good reason for America to take in Syrian refugees because the need is crucial. Most Syrians are homeless and others have been forced to flee the country. Europe is ... Therefore the innovation being introduced in the report will focus on the pain management tool for assessing chronic conditions in service users with dementia in hospital settings. • 5. Analysis Of The Movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail In class, we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This movie is set in the time of the middle ages (roughly 476 1453). It follows King Arthur and his knights as they search for the Holy Grail. They look for the Holy Grail after they are told to by God. The movie at first may seem like nonsense and a silly parody, but in reality, Monty Python and the Holy Graildemonstrates the truth of the Middle Ages, feudal hierarchy, and other topics we have discussed in class. In the Middle Ages, the Church was one of the most powerful forces. It was a very important part of the people s culture and was a unifying force for them. It gave people a common belief, protection and a sense of safety in a time of war. Many people relied on it to receive sacraments and go to heaven, especially peasants because that was about all they had going for them. The Church and it s matters were taken seriously and they maintained power throughout the Middle Ages. In the movie, the power of the church is shown in many scenes. For example, in the scene where King Arthur and his knights are trying to get into the cave but the rabbit is stopping them, they call in the priests to give them the Holy Hand Grenade . The priests take it very seriously and tell Arthur very specific instructions for it. He activates it and blows up the rabbit they are able to enter the cave. This shows that they believed that the church and God had the most power and the power to do anything. In a time of need, they turned to the Church. The feudal system was the method of government that was used in the Middle Ages. The feudal pyramid consisted of four levels, King at the top, Church Official and Nobles/Lords next, then Knights, and peasants at the bottom. The King had the most power, the nobles were sometimes vassals to the king, knights fought in the king s army, and peasants worked in the field all day and were very poor. In one scene of the movie, peasants are seen working in the fields. They are very dirty and have bad quality clothing which shows how little money and power they had compared to King Arthur, who had fancy clothing and did not have to work. King Arthur then asks the peasants who their lord is, which shows how lords or vassals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Opium War Dbq Essay The Opium War was a major part of China s history. There were many economic issues, (the high cost of importing opium), political issues (disobedience of Chinese ban on opium imports) and consequences of the British victory (Britain s greater power over China) that precipitated the Opium war, but the British victory had the greatest impact on Chinabecause the extension of British power reduced China s autonomy and made them more dependent on Europe. The high cost of importing opium had major consequences that weakened the Chinese economy and was a leading cause for the Opium War. Document A is a record of the British Imports and Exports at the Port of Canton. The average price of imported opium was ten times greater than that of Cotton Yarn, the second highest average price import. The combined total value of imported opium alone was over 16 million Spanish dollars, while the total value of exported items was less than 23 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Documen F is a collection of excerpts from the Treaty of Nanking, which is the document that ended the first Opium War. This document contains various benefits for the British such as the ceding of Hong Kong and the payment of six million dollars for the deaths of British soldiers during the war. This document expresses the actions of the British to extend further control over China by acquiring from them a major port and a significant sum of money. The Treaty of Nanking is one of many unequal treaties that the British employed to provide favorable conditions for themselves. Document G is written by Feng Kuei Fen and articulates his discontent of British power over China. He finds it shameful that after the British victory, China had been unable to remove its dependence on Western information. By stating that the Chinese people are unable to compete with European innovations, he is justifying Britain s power over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Persuasive Speech On Climate Change Day For climate change day, I went up to the capital to listen to Governor Dayton speak about the topic, and what is in the future. Governor Dayton talked about the goal for Minnesota to become 50% renewable energy by the year 2030. People listening had a chance to ask him questions, and one of the questions that really made everyone agree with was, If Minnesota eventually wants to become 100% clean energy, why are we still allowing oil companies on our land to pump oil, the shipment of oil products through Minnesota, and the use of energy causing pollution in Minnesota? I personally thought Dayton s response was pretty, because he addressed it very well with the following, If we were to completely cut off the use and shipment of any oil products... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I learned more than I ever thought possible. Apparently quite a few farmers use a nitrogen based fertilizer that causes water contamination, and ruins the environment. Throughout this whole experience, it really surprised me how many people actually care about climate change, and how their is a law trying to be passed right now to get rid of the only group of people in the Minnesota government fighting for the environment. The one and only group in the government in all of Minnesota is waiting to see if this bill will be passed in the next couple months to get rid of them. I find that completely erratic. Along with the surprise, I also had this overwhelming feeling of hope for the future I never had before. I am really passionate about the environment, and climate change, and to see all these people in one room, all supporting this one thing was truly amazing. It was the first time in forever I actually felt hope for the future. This experience really changed the way I felt about the future like I said, and with that, I am going to see what else I can do to help. Try and help even more, with not only doing my part, but also volunteering with different groups who do larger parts in communities, and try to help more in that way. This entire day showed me so much, and so many possibilities out there to help. Climate change is a rather large issue, but there is still hope out. There are several types of APNs including Primary Health NPs, Pediatric NPs and Adult NPs (Wilson, 2016; DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). The following assignment intends to explore a particular advance practice nurse (ANP) role in the current Canadian health care system. Melissa Harriott, BScN, RN, MN, NP has been interviewed to describe her advance practice role, philosophy of health, core competencies, and the nature of her practice as an ANP at the University of Alberta Hospital. The clinic has been very successful in managing patients IBD symptoms in a timely manner while preventing unnecessary emergency department visits, and alleviating anxiety and depression associated with the unpredictable flares, ineffective pharmacological management and potential development of negative self image. Kurina, Goldacre and Gill (2001) stated that over 60 percent of the studied population with IBD had anxiety and/or depression. Poor symptom management, ineffective coping mechanisms, lack of support, and negate self imaging, are the main risk factors associated with the anxiety in the population with IBD (Bannaga Selinger, 2015). Melissa concurred with the above statement and indicated that the interprofessional collaborative treatment approach at the clinic offers short wait times, multidimensional support and long term follow up for the patients. She also stated that her role includes all categories of core competencies of an NP (Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2010; Wilson, 2016). The NP assesses patients at the clinic, based on the laboratory work and biopsies taken during a colonoscopy, she confirms whether the patient has IBD and specifies the type. In cases with previously known condition she assesses the intensity of the flare and decides upon further actions, which include medication initiation /adjustment, referral to the dietitian, referral to additional diagnostic imaging, and collaboration with the IBD nurse for the further ... • 9. How Does The Catcher In The Rye Existentialism Everyday in contains a series of choices. Some choices are more impactful than others, but all choices are important. Existentialism, prevalent through the 1940 60s, believes that living is made through choices, and if one is not living then they are simply existing. In Salinger s fiction novel, the Catcher in the Rye, he portrays existentialismthrough his main character, Holden, and his experiences as a teenager. Holden is faced with many decisions throughout his time at Pencey and since getting expelled. Salinger expresses the significance of the existentialist element of self choice through the protagonist s habitual decisions to distance himself from the controlling nature of society. He describes that he ll be necking with a girl and one thing leads to another but then, they tell [him] to stop, so [he] stops (92). This moral decision contradicts what Holden society because of who he is surrounded by. When Holden describes his roommate, Stradlater, he describes a similar situation where Holden witnessed a girl telling Stradlater to stop and he wouldn t stop. Holden s decision to not carry through with sex depicts the existentialist element of choice which society disagrees with. This situation is repeated when Holden orders a stripper and decides not to have sex with her. At the same time, there are some discontinued models we d like to see make a comeback, including two expected to return in the next year or two. 1. Subaru BRAT The last time Subaru produced a pickup truck was from 2003 to 2006, with the Baja. Decades earlier, beginning in 1978, Subaru offered the trendsetting BRAT, the first small pickup truck with all wheel drive. Besides its off road capabilities, the BRAT was noteworthy for its two truck bed jump seats, what allowed Subaru to skirt a 25 percent tariff on light pickup trucks. Two inches shorter than the Challenger and with its own sheet metal, the Cuda was the less costly of the two. Don t hold your breath. Rumors of a Dodge Barracuda model have surfaced in recent years, representing a scaled down version of the Dodge Challenger. But parent Fiat Chrysler is not awash in cash to invest in this model nor is the market especially favorable for yet another pony car. 4. Dodge Dakota Introduced in 1986, the Dodge Dakota had a 25 year run, then canceled. The Dakota was a trendsetting model for its time as it was the first midsize pickup truck. Its larger size signaled the start of a movement whereby manufacturers replaced small trucks with larger models, such as the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier. A Ram Dakota would be the logical complement to the Ram 1500, and enable Fiat Chrysler to match Chevrolet, Toyota, GMC, Nissan, and soon Ford with an effective 1 2 pickup punch. We think a Dakota outfitted with the available Ram Box storage management system and an optional diesel engine would make such a model a hit if it returned. What are the chances? Slim to ... I will also look at the characters, action, plot ,sound and atmosphere created, and how these are aimed at each film s target audience. Charlie s Angels is an action comedy film, which borrows ideas from other well known movies such as Mission Impossible , James Bond etc. It is not very original or challenging, has a weak and predictable plot, and is merely an update on the 1970 s television series of the same name. The film is based on a trio of beautiful women who are hired to retrieve a man and his technology. • 12. Parents And Children Should Not Have Vaccinations Some critics believe parents and children should not have vaccinations. There s still a debate going on because the medical community does not agree. Healthcare professionals believes everyone should be vaccinated and it is very important. They believe vaccinations protect you when traveling, prevent childhood illnesses, it s painless, and you take it once and you are protected for life (Pros and Cons, 2015). These diseases from other countries can be brought back into the United States and cause an outbreak of diseases. Other people believe vaccinations are 90% 95% effective, but there is still 5% that can still come in contact with the disease (Pros and Cons, 2015). They think it doesn t capture the illness and immunity lasts longer if created by natural circumstances (Pros and Cons, 2015). Some schools require certain vaccinations to be taken before starting to school. Fourteen studies have been conducted by Amanda Peet, a vaccinemanufacturer, and she believes there is no association between autism and vaccines. No real studies have ever been done but medical professions believe this is fake (Peet, n.d). Whether or not a parent cannot pay for vaccinations is no problem. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) distributes vaccines to state health departments and other local agencies. These agencies distribute them to private physicians offices, at no charge to those receiving vaccines (Vaccines for Children, 2014). The Childhood Immunization Support Program (CISP) has ... There are many benefits such as boosting economic growth, improving health and elongating life expectancy. On the contrary if a fat tax is implemented into a weak economy it could cause the loss of jobs due to higher prices. These higher prices cause local consumers to begin to purchase their unhealthy products in different states or countries, causing the loss of business for local industries. There is much opposition and debate over this, and difficult economic times have created unrest with the residents. Still, the tax with all of this negative feedback has survived, unlike the experiment performed in Denmark. Denmark implanted a fat tax on food products containing more than 2.3% saturated fat. After only being in place for one year, Denmark repealed the fat tax and got rid of an impending tax on sugar in 2012. The tax was causing the loss of jobs due to the increased cost of doing business . Consumers began buying food products in Sweden and Germany. Many younger adults who would frequently purchase bags of chips after school simply began buying different brands of potato chips that merely just changed the types of ingredients to meet the governments fat tax demands. While the tax did bring in $216 million for the government, the higher price of meat, dairy and butter proved to be too much for the Hungarian economy to handle. With the loss of consumers in Denmark, business owners were not able to sustain consistent sales to stay profitable. This pill can be used during the first three days after unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent the fertilization of an egg or the attachment of a fertilized egg to a woman s uterus. The question is not necessarily in the ethical issue of the pill itself. The problem or question lies in the issue of the pill being sold with or without a prescription. These are questions that need to be considered before making a decision. In Summary, the pill remedies the chance of ineffectiveness of methods of contraception like birth control and condoms without invasive surgery. The pill has the potential to reduce the number of surgical abortions and undesired pregnancies in the United States considerably, especially if it is provided over the counter. The pill is radically more effective the sooner one takes it after intercourse and the great advantage of making it available over the counter as opposed to by prescription only, is that it would give a larger number of women faster and more access to it. • 15. Private Memoirs And Confession Of A Justified Sinner A tragedy story portrays a noble hero and heroine downfall through use of fate, the will of gods and hubris. The book Private Memoirs and Confession of a Justified Sinner is a tragedy because the book narrates a story about Wringham who had involved himself in crimes. At first, evil triumphs over good as Wringham had been filled with self righteousness and hatred and these attitudes made him to believe that any crime was right according to his religion including murder. The story is full of crimes like murder, horror, religious fanaticism, fantasy and folklore (Hogg Carrey 50). The publisher of the story was popular due to his magazine articles and poetry and he was also self educated thus he published the book with the idea that the information in the book is strange. This idea was as a result of horrific theme matter and experimental style which he used in the book and he knew the general public would not appreciate his book. A French writer Gide in 1940s argued that the book was a masterpiece. The story has three categories to enable readers to understand different ways in which the book exist like folklore and local tradition. The first category summarizes all events which Wringham did to make readers understand why Wringham opted for confession. The second category narrates of the shocking confession process of Wringham who was obsessed with crime for a long period. • 16. Write An Essay On Squid Research Papers we all exist in a world populated with our fellow creatures. The study of interactions between organisms and their environments is called ecology, and in the ecology of the open ocean, Humboldt squid stand front and center. They are hunted and consumed throughout their lives by a wide variety of predators. The squid themselves are also voracious generalist predators, meaning that they eat a wide variety of prey, and lots of it. And, like all animals, Humboldt squid play the ecological role of host to numerous parasites. A single female Humboldt squid can lay millions of eggs, of which only a few will survive to adulthood. The rest provide a high protein buffet for any marine life that can catch them, their vast numbers creating a significant source of food for small predators. Once they grow up, Humboldt squid are too large to be eaten by the predators that stalked them when they were young, but there are plenty of larger predators out there. Tuna, sharks, dolphins, and especially sperm whales love to chow down on Humboldt squid. In fact, sperm whales in the Gulf of California live almost entirely on Humboldt squid. And of course, humans catch and eat hundreds of thousands of tons of Humboldt squid every year. But Humboldt squid are hardly ecological victims they know how to do some damage... Becoming A Successful After Secondary Education It is a dream for most parents to have the opportunity to watch their children full time without having to worry about working full time, just to pay off their student debt. In the United states, out of all of the mothers, only 29 percent of mothers are full time stay at home mothers (D Vera Cohn, Gretchen Livingston, Wang). Sadly, in contrast to the 29 percent of stay at home mother, my friend Holly Haney, works countless hours every day and has to pay a large sum of her check to student debt. I wish I would have been more educated on student loans. Even though it was the cool thing to do back then, it certainly isn t anymore (Holly Haney). Like Holly, I am also learning that in order for me to become successful after secondary education, I need to be more educated on the dangers of having student debt , so that my future wife will be part of the 29 percent of full time stay at home mothers. By looking over the previous years, even though much has been said about student debt, very little attention has been paid on the causes and effects of having student debt. Fedex, An International Express Shipping Company Page 1 Federal Express, or now known as FedEx, is an international express shipping company that ships anything from envelopes and small packages to large freight. It was the brain child of college student Fredrick Smith, when in 1965 at Yale a professor assigned the class to invent an industry. At that time the only option companies had was to utilized passenger routes to ship packages, which was not very efficient for time sensitive deliveries. Six years later after Smith left the military he bought a small company and experienced how difficult it was to get supplies delivered within a couple of days. Remembering the paper he had written in college, Smith founded Federal Express in 1973. Starting with 14 small planes today it has grown into the world s largest al cargo air fleet. By 1980 FedEx was way ahead of the competition and the company was growing by 40 percent per year with 1 billion in revenue. Through many international acquisitions and mergers they have grown internationally and now delivery to over 220 countries. • 34. The Motif of Poverty Throughout Crime and Punishment by... Poverty is an essential motif in Crime and Punishment that enables characters to expose their isolation from society. Raskolnikov demonstrates the true effect that poverty can have on an unemployed man in the 1860s. Razumikhin is seen as Raskolnikov s foil character that reacts to his form of poverty in the opposite way of Raskolnikov towards society. The weight of being desperately pour effects Marmeledov to extensive lengths that ultimately ends in his death. Raskolnikov begins to alienate himself from his ex colleague, Razumikhin, although at points it is Razumikhin who supports Raskolnikov the most. It forces Razumikhin to replace Raskolnikov in situations that should have been left to his authority. In a situation where Raskolnikov should have reassured Dounia and Pulcheria of their safety he waved his hand weakly to Razumikhin to cut short the flow of warm and incoherent consolations he was addressing to his mother and sister (Part 3. 1). As Raskolnikov began to slowly move away from any form of comfortable socialization and a growing poverty situation, his stubbornness to contain his pride and dignity eventually builds up to the brutal murder of Alyona. Razumikhin is in a similar financial situation as Raskolnikov. Razumikhin foils Raskolnikov in his response to a desperate situation such as struggling poverty. He faced his struggles with a trial and error personality. His view stood that you never reach any truth without making fourteen mistakes and very likely a hundred and fourteen (Part 3. 1). • 35. Theme Of Respect In The Oddyseyy As Confucious once said Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from beasts? Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and the fit. Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual; without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most circumstances), not because of love, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Michael Parenti the structure of whether or not someone is defined in the sense of powerful or powerlessness relies on their social class and ethnicity. This article is about how the global food price index is going down, and has fallen to its lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now since a family will be spending less money on those products. The only place where the prices are not falling is in the meatindustry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for beef was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That in turn caused the producers of the beef to have expectations that the future was going to be bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because of these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now is that the food industry is having harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per acre. This has caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork, poultry, and beef very happy.
