What Is The Personification In The Dream Of The Rood
Dream of the Rood 1. The speakers described in the story are referred to as the dreamer and a cross.
The cross is given huge personification inside the story as it is an inanimate object. Both speakers
view Christ as a selfless hero. They use the names such as heavens Lord, the wielder of victories, the
prince of glory, and heavens Guardian to describe him. The poet describes Christ as someone who has
won a great battle against the sins of mankind. By winning this battle he is able to rebirth into a
society that is more holy than it ever was before. This to the poet is something so mighty that it alone
has the power to buy true happiness and peace for all of mankind. 2. Word structure and style of the
poem leaves a flowy, serene feel throughout the story. The use of personification in terms of the cross
and the mass amounts of imagery brings out an outworldly presence. The inner thoughts of the
dreamer can be easily confused with reality and leaves the reader wondering what is actually
happening and what isn t. Riddles add to the flow of the poem by providing a fantasy feel. The

The wanderer inside this poem is perceived as such because he has lost everything and is searching for
a new place to start over. He wonders endlessly from place to place to find what he used to have in his
life. The wanderer is looking to rebuild his life because he has lost his structure. I believe this is
relevant to the universal situation that many people face going through life. There are many times
when we lose things or people that mean the world to us and we have to start over. It s important to
not take what is right in front of us for granted. We will all eventually passed away so it s important to
be content rather than wondering endlessly for what we don t have or else we will die unhappy and

Weddings, A rite of passage
A rite of passage is a public ceremony that marks, recognizes, celebrates or is believed to actually
cause a change in a person and her or his status, usually brought about or related to increasing age
(Peoples, Bailey). Almost every culture has rituals that signal a change in life. Marriage is one of the
most common rites of passage in any culture. Weddings and marriage ceremonies are clear transitions
from adolescence to adulthood. Some form of marriage is known to have existed in all human
societies. Its traditional function in most of these societies has been to stabilize sexual relations and to
unite a man and a woman in order to provide care for the young. In addition, marriage has linked and
allowed for economic exchanges between different kin groups and has served as the primary coming
of age ritual for women (Nelson). In America we are known for throwing lavish ceremonies and
expensive parties to celebrate the union between two people. I ve attended quite a few weddings and
participated in one during my lifetime thus far. Most weddings in the American culture follow the
same itinerary.
Before a wedding ceremony is thought of or takes place the couple preparing for marriage usually
separate from their families and begin to make a home together. During the separation phase from
each of his or her families an engagement occurs. A typical engagement consists of the man

Characteristics Of The Leopard
The Leopard
Long ago, the leopard and the Ethiopian, his white hunting companion, lived in a place called the
High Veldt. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any animal
they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe and zebra.
One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within the shadows
of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe and the zebra. The
prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged that the leopard and
Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they needed to up their game,
so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion to give him spots so he could
blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the leopard s plain coat; both of them
were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra.
This retelling of Rudyard Kipling s How the Leopard Got His Spots is a fanciful fable which portrays
the cunning nature of the leopard. Besides its stealthiness and competitiveness, this spotted wonder
possesses several other traits which display God s originality in creating it. In order to understand the
significance of the leopard, one must understand its physical characteristics and behavior, unique
habitat and hunting strategies, and extreme threats to its existence.
It s helpful to understand the taxonomy and naming

Analysis Of This Boy s Life
Tabula rasa. A phrase originating from Latin that is translated to clean slate. John Locke, a
philosopher, coined this term to coincide with his theory that each human is born without any pre
existing traits or views of the world. To those who share Locke s conception, one could understand
how easily Tobias Wolff conformed to the negative impacts he had grown up with. He is the
equivalent of an unwritten book with the potential for success and academic achievement but tainted
with abandonment and neglect. The antagonists Roy, Dwight, and even his own mother are the sources
of false power and manhood he obtained which has an influence on his actions. Even with all of these
influences, the young and naive Jack (a name Tobias Wolff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

of financial issues, he understands why his mom can t see him but like any child who wants someone
to care and love for them, they are still frustrated that they will be missing crucial relationship
developments which were seen in I understood, but understanding not make me miss her less. (99).
Another reason that leads to his actions, which is also the reason he wanted to strip the importance of
his receival of the name Tobias and call himself Jack instead, is his father who blatantly abandoned
him and his mother for a luxurious life. Wolff s father, in summary, was a man who married a
millionaire and moved to Paris with Jack s older brother, Geoffrey, because he had a promising future.
As wealthy as he was, the cowardly man refuses to pay his legal pittance. Jack witnesses the effects of
the lack of financial support on his mother. This anger leads him to confidently say We were barely
making it, and making it in spite of him. My shedding the name he d given me would put him in mind
of that fact. (9) The relieved diction seen with the term shedding can only allow readers to infer that
removing his assigned name was a way to disassociate his burden of a father to him and his mom.

The Science Of Human Cloning
The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The
announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half
decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute,
Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure
used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from
the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning
has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists,
physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from
multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to
its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased
potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists.
A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary
goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing
diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including
transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. Another possible scenario would be the
supposition that a person would become sick with a disease that

Delano s Genius In Benito Cereno, By Herman Melville
Adam Mandel 6 October 2014 L204 Delano s Genius The story of Benito Cereno is written by
Herman Melville, yet is narrated by the captain of the Bachelor s Delight, Amasa Delano. By using an
in story narrator, Melville seems to divorce himself from the action, and any opinions he may have
about the characters. The reader is forced to watch the events unfold through the eyes of Delano, and
this deceives the audience into thinking Delano is a senseless, aloof sailor. However, Melville actually
believes Delano to be a genius and uses his multiple narrator storytelling style to hide this from the
audience. Many might argue that Captain Delano was not a bright man. He did not jump on the
strange occurrences on the Bachelor s Delight, and Babo fooled him on more than one occasion.
However, Delano did notice the strange happenings: At this moment the young sailor s eye was again
fixed on the whisperers, and Captain Delano thought he observed a lurking significance in it, as if
silent signs of some Freemason sort had that instant been interchanged (Melville 54). ... Show more

captured Babo. This secured a great deal of gratitude by Cereno, and the possibility of a large payday

Title:
What is the effect of temperature, pH, and substrate concentration on Enzyme activity?
Purpose:
Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in cells. They break down molecules called
substrates. Each enzymes have only one substrate that breaks down. Enzymes are produced in the cells
of the body and affect the rate of almost all the chemical reactions which take place in living
organisms. The rate of enzymes activity is influenced by temperature, pH, and substrate concentration.
The purpose of this lab was to determine the affects of enzyme activity under specific temperature
changes, pH values and substrate concentration. Since heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jackson Pollock Summary Expressionism
Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter, and the main pressure in the back of the abstract

repute and notoriety. Jackson Pollock s greatness lies in developing one of the most radical summary
patterns inside the records of contemporary artwork, detaching line from colour, redefining the kinds
of drawing and painting, and locating new method to explain pictorial space. Jackson Pollock was
born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, LeRoy Pollock became a farmer and later a land surveyor

Ancient Greek Culture And Its Impact On Modern Society
The ancient Greeks, or also called the Hellenes, had a more westernized culture compared to other
surrounding cultures in their time. Much of ancient Greek culture has influenced our culture today in
America. They have influenced modern society through their religion, architecture, theatre, literature,
society, language and sports. An important aspect of ancient Greece culture was their religion. The
ancient Greeks created Greek Mythology to help convey natural occurrences and changes of nature
because they were not advanced enough to explain why these things happened.1 They created many
narratives and myths based on this religion and their gods. Today we see and use many aspects of their
religion in modern culture. Many names for our planets and constellations come from Greek
mythology names. Some cities in the United States use the names of Greek gods and goddesses. The
zodiac signs used in horoscopes today are based on their mythology.
Ancient Greece architecture, well known for their different types of columns, the Doric order, the
Ionic order, and the Corinthian order.2 The Doric columns appeared stout, they had smooth and round
capitals, and a square abacus that connected the capitals to the entablature. The Ionic columns had a
small base and a double curve at the top of the stone column.3 The Corinthian columns are the most
ornate out of the three types of columns. This column weighed more than the others and was not used
as often by the Greeks. These columns helped

Prehensile Tailed Skink
(Corucia zebrata)
The prehensile tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) is an endemic tropical squamate that is found inhabiting
all major islands of the Solomon archipelago in the Southwest Pacific. It is considered to be one of the
largest known skinks and has many common names such as Solomon Island skink, giant skink,
monkey tail skink, Solomon Island prehensile tailed skink, or simply, Corucia. And just as the
common name indicates, C. zebrata possesses the interesting adaptation of a prehensile tail (Vosjoli,
1993). The Latin name, zebrata, is indicative of their zebra stripe ornamentation. The genus Corucia is
monotypic and only consists of C.z. zebrata and a subspecies population, C.z. alfredschmidti, also
known as the Northern prehensile tailed skink that inhabits Bougainville Island in the Solomon islands
(Harmon, 2002). There is an unfortunate small amount of information known about this species in the
wild, but what has been studied and is known, has led to the belief that this is somewhat of an unusual
and ecologically unique species among the Scincidae (Hagen, Evolution and Ecology of the
Prehensile Tailed Skink, 2011).
Physical Description and Adaptations Corucia zebrata have been shown to exhibit some degree of
sexual dichromatism and dimorphism, however the differences are not highly distinctive between the
sexes in allowing for easy interpretation (Vosjoli, 1993). C. zebrata have large cylindrical

Aspects Of Attomicroscopy
Attomicroscopy
As explained in the previous section, this approach is a promising way for generating isolated electron
pulses last only few tens of femtosecond and hundreds of attosecond. This approach has striking
advantages over the conventional compression techniques[51, 52, 97, 116], which can be summarized
as follows: (I) The generated electron pulse duration is limited only by the gating laser pulse duration
which could be in the order of attosecond time scale[20]. But, the nanostructure system where the
photon electron coupling takes place should has a broadband response over the spectral bandwidths of
the gated pulse. (II) The extreme phase and synchronization stability ( 1 fs) can be achieved between

The temporal evolution of the electrons in the presence of the evanescent field can be described by a
time dependent Schrödinger equation including a light matter coupling Hamiltonian with a classical
electromagnetic field, whose solution can be found self consistently by solving the Lippmann
Schwinger equation (Eq. (4) in ref (160)). Expanding the electron wave function in a basis of
momentum eigenstates corresponding to gaining or losing a certain number of photons, the Lippmann
Schwinger equation can be solved, and the expansion coefficients are given in a recursive manner (Eq.
(9) in ref (160)). With the expansion coefficients, the probabilities of electrons gaining/losing L
photons can be computed from[160]

The Importance Of Artifice In Society
Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret that
artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own
ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive
others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As illustrated
by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to become so
ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the entertainment
industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more likely to be
disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has seen more
abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that newspapers skew
reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior motives.
Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in society, and
their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within the United
States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to expose this
behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery remains essential
for success in media and politics. Artifice generated through the media plays a pivotal role in the

The And Of African Americans
To break this question down it s simply asking How can something you believe in or know change
your perspective plan ideas or intentions that we have? To what extent mean the limit of something. A
concept is a general notion plan idea or intention; conception. An idea of something formed by
mentally combining all its characteristics or particulars; a construct. And finally shaping our
conclusions means change how we see things. The knowledge question would be how badly does
what we already know change how we see the world. I agree that what we already know and have
general ideas of can change how we see things. Like with the AOK history. The concept of history can
change the way Caucasians or African Americans view slavery. White people may view slavery as a
good thing or a bad thing and view black people as equals or not. They may feel horrible about what
their people has done to African Americans in the past and become sympathetic to them.White people
may feel guilty. African Americans may not be as understanding to white people. White people were
responsible for slavery.Slavery was cruel and brutal. It broke up families, limited life choice and
resulted in the death of many African Americans. They were dehumanized by Caucasians which is
something that black people still suffer from today. Things like police brutality and white privilege
plays a huge part in this. Majority of white police officers use excessive and/or unnecessary force

The Hero Archetypes In Homer s The Odyssey
Homer s The Odyssey shows many archetypes throughout this tale of adventure. There is bravery,
death, leadership monsters, and slaughter all circling around the archetypes in the epic. The Odyssey
was set down in writing around 8th century B.C. The story is told by Homer. Odysseus is his main
character The archetype Odysseus plays is the hero. Other archetypes in The Odyssey are the monster
and the father figure. Modern readers gain insight about Ancient Greek culture from the use of
archetypes in Homer s epic, The Odyssey.
The hero archetype is very important in this story. It is the main one and Odysseus represents it. The
hero always tries to defend the greater good at all costs. An example when Odysseus was a hero, was
when he saved his men from the the Cyclops. Odysseus s plan was to escape and to also hurt the
cyclops. After completing his plan, Odysseus said, Cyclops, if ever mortal man inquire how you were
put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye (p. 574). Another
characteristic of the hero archetype is leadership. Odysseus showed leadership when he had to ...

One of the monsters are Polyphemus. He is a cyclops that wants to eat Odysseus and his men. He is a

Polyphemus said, We Cyclops care not a whistle for your thundering Zeus or all gods in bliss; we have
more force by far (p. 567). Polyphemus doesn t care, since he s a monster, and eats some of the men.
Another monster in The Odyssey is Scylla. She s destructive because, She made her strike, whisking
six of my best men from the ship (p. 585). Charybdis also fits into the monster archetypes. She was a
giant whirlpool and When she vomited, all the sea was like a cauldron seething over intense fire, when
the mixture suddenly heaves and rises (p. 584). A less intense archetype is the Father

friends of mine, that have nice businesses, and they can t borrow money. They can t get money from
the banks they just can t get any money because the banks won t let them borrow because of rules and

The University Of Southern Mississippi
Please accept this personal statement as a part of my application for the doctoral program in criminal
justice starting the fall semester of 2016. The University of Southern Mississippi is my ideal location
for the achievement of a doctoral degree. I would like to demonstrate my knowledge, experience, and
research ability in the field of criminal justice and correctional studies. Having majored in the
discipline as a former graduate student, I want to further my education to assist and promote future
changes in criminal justice and correctional policy. I am looking forward to the opportunities your
program has to offer and I believe my background and perspective in criminal justice will help enrich
the program, as well.
A wide range of diversity in the field of criminal justice studies is of great importance. As a second
year graduate student, I was given an opportunity to work closely with U.S Probation and Pretrial
Services as an intern. This internship allowed me to further my knowledge in correctional studies and
provided the necessary resources to complete my master s thesis. I was also exposed to various
policies and procedures pertaining to probation practices while gaining a vast amount of knowledge
assisting with investigations, liaisons between state and local agencies, and the intricacies of offender
case management. Furthermore, I was able to form close relationships with employees of the agency
who have assisted in my current career endeavors.

S. Marcenscens Research Paper
I was given unknown 18, after the gram stains and biological tests I concluded that unknown 18 is
Serratia marcescens. S. marcenscens is a rod shaped, motile, gram negative bacteria, it was first
isolated in 1819 by Italian pharmacist, Bizio. The S. marcenscens first isolated came from polenta that
was taking on an unusual bright red color. Initially S. marcenscens was believed to be nonpathogenic
and was commonly used as a biological marker because of its unique red color (Merlino, 1924). It was
not until the 1950 s that S. marcenscens was discovered to be pathogenic in humans (Wheat et al,
1951). S. marcenscens is an adaptable bacteria found in many different environments including water,
soil, gastrointestinal tracts of many animals, but grow particularly well on starchy food sources
(Petersen and Tisa, 2013). S. marcenscens when first isolated it was believed to be non pathogenic, but
S. marcenscens is responsible for nosocomial human infections, plant infections, insect and nematode
infections, among many more (Petersen and Tisa, 2013). S. marcenscens is opportunistic and is known
to cause nearly every possible infection imaginable including, urinary tract infections, upper
respiratory infections, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wheat at the Stanford University Hospital recorded eleven cases of S. marcenscens causing an
infection in humans in just six months (Wheat et al, 1951). The number of infections caused by S.
marcenscens has been increasing since then (Hejazi and Falkiner, 1997). According to Petersen and
Tisa (2013), there are many factors that make S. marcenscens such a ubiquitous and adaptable
microorganism. S. marcenscens produces and excretes many proteins and compounds that allow it to
adapt to its ever changing environment, including proteases, LPS, hemolysin and many more
(Petersen and Tisa, 2013). These diverse compounds and enzymes excreted by S. marcenscens play a
crucial role in how S. marcenscens interacts with its numerous different hosts and

The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the
overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is
lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected
into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight
gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow
is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet.
The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to
Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space.
However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One
of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the
amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice
caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a
response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely
fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground,
2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and

Speech About Mermaids
Splash, Splash, Splash. The sound of the whales and dolphins. Ever since I was little I dreamt of this
job and now I finally have it. Congratulations! Exclaimed the professor as he handed my my diploma
a few years ago. I remember it in my head like it was yesterday. A marine veterinarian. I love animals,
especially aquatic ones. I had visited an aquarium when I was younger and fell in love with whales.
No animals need tending to. I walk around the facility talking to guests and watching the whales swim
so gracefully around the enclosure. So beautiful swimming around flipping their tails without a care in
the world. Being who I am, my job is incredibly difficult. I love the animals and get attached easily.
When one dies and I can t save it, I lose part of my family.
When I was young, I wished I was a mermaid. I could swim around with the animals all day and heal
them because I understood. Do you want to ride my mermaid to prom, I asked my mother at age 5.
Even though it doesn t make any sense. First of all mermaids are in the water and secondly why to
prom?
The animals can t talk, we have to guess and it makes it challenging. They can t say what hurts or how
to heal them. They look their happy selves all the time.
We need more technology, I often think. I have never voiced it though. People are always talking
about how much it has improved, but I don t see it. Sure phones have improved, but why isn t there
any technology to heal animals? So many more creatures are

Urban Disparities
One of the reading that illustrates the concept of the different disparities found in rural and urban areas
is the findings of Capitman et al. (n.d.) in its residents. The chapter, named Racial/Ethnic Caner
Disparities: Conceptual Frameworks, presents the different barriers racial/ethnicities face when it
comes to seeking health care services in regard to cancer diagnoses, treatment, and prevention. As the
Capitman et al. (n.d.) stated economic, political and cultural exclusion have been attributed to ethnic
and social class differences in accessing good quality health care and services. According to Unite For

As Capitman et al. (n.d.) illustrates with cancer disparities in racial/ethnic groups, induvial and
cultural factors influence how individuals participate in disease prevention and self care activities.
Other factors include availability of health care professionals, mal distribution of health care
resources, and accessibility to social services (Capitman et al. n.d.). Looking at social and physical
environments in general can tell you a lot about how big a difference we see in health disparities in
both urban and rural areas. As noted by Unite for Sight, urban environments tend to be more highly
diverse socioeconomic status with more exposure to health related risk (chronic diseases) while rural
dwellers are more significantly poorer and poor health behaviors (smoking etc.). Furthermore, rural
areas have a higher proportion of uninsured and individually insured residents with limited access to
health care facilities. In urban areas even if with high prevalence of individuals without health
insurance or citizenship they deal with a system where individuals have access to preventive and
routine health care while the other portion of the populations utilize safety net emergency room care
(as cited Unite for Sight n.d.). In general, we see in urban and rural health that there is a difference
between health care access, usage, geographic distribution of providers and

wife dies. He himself did not kill because he said I killed when I was drunk (Clint Eastwood)
meaning that he was almost all the time drunk when he encountered people. In this movie he

Teen Pregnancy New Mexico
Teen pregnancy has always been an issue and even with the decrease in the last few years New
Mexico continues to be the highest ranked state (The office of adolescent health). Teen pregnancy is
an issue because the proper information is not being given to sexually active teens. Not only can teens
become pregnant from being sexually active but they can get sexually transmitted diseases as well.
Teens between the ages of 15 to 19 are not informed of the emotional and physical support needed if
they become pregnant. Teens that become pregnant at a young age generally don t finish high school
making it even harder to support themselves and their new responsibilities of being a parent. There are

New Mexico is a state that encourages abstinence until marriage as the best way to prevent sexually
transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies ( New Mexico ). When looking up Teen Pregnancy in
New Mexico the first website that pops up is a website from the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services: https://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescent health topics/reproductive
health/states/nm.html. This website shows teen pregnancy rates in New Mexico from 1998 until 2011.
The statistics found are answers to many questions about the sexual health of teens. This site has
several links that lead to answers to many questions teens and parents may have about sexual health.
Although many teens are sexually active they feel embarrassed looking up or asking questions about
sex. This is an issue with no specific repair but a good way to assist the issue is to raise awareness.
Many teens need to be taught the information to make an informed decision before becoming sexually
active. In schools teens are taught to be abstinent until marriage as well as to use protection if they are
going to be sexually active. Using protection is not stressed enough in schools and at home seeing the
teen pregnancy rate in New Mexico being ranked number one in the fifty states. In 2011 New Mexico
had 3,494 births to females under the age of 20 (The office of adolescent health). Raising awareness
cannot just be a job for one source teens need to be told the same information from all the sources they
come in contact with. Many teens need to be aware of the affects on their education and finances when
becoming pregnant. Teens that do become pregnant are scared and do not know the resources that are
provided whether they decide to keep the baby or not. Many teens don t know that there are many
contraceptives that you do not have to have a parents consent to buy or be prescribed. Condoms are

Hypostatic Union Sociology
The hypostatic union described the integration between Jesus humanity and divinity in a single
individual. Jesus, is not only considered the incarnate son, he is also considered to be the Second
Divine Person. Within the hypostatic union, there are two aspects that help in understanding this
union. These are the ontological and physiological aspects.
The ontological aspect focuses on the Second Divine Person. Jesus assumed the human nature as his
own. With this close union between Jesus human nature and the divine Son, his human identity is
made clear. Jesus human nature allows him to exist as the immaculate human manifestation of the
eternal the Son. St Thomas describes it as the Word himself as it were, becomes a human being by

Steps for Determining a MS DRG
There are four steps in determining the MS DRG. The first step is the pre MDC assignment. This was

Christian Suppositions
The Great commission is to reach with world with the Gospel. The Christian understands the world
through suppositions; God exists, the truth exists, a man can know and understand truth (Towns 2008,

do not know they hold these suppositions. If we understand the way in which they think we can more
ably show them Christ. Christians are separate from the world, but human none the less, and as such
are called to be compassionate and empathetic witnesses to the individuals around them. Dare I say,
even sympathetic to the plight of humanity. One way in which that is possible is through secular
literature. We can look into the face of personal

Technology Negative Essay
Defined as the purposeful application of information in the design, production, and utilization of
goods and services, and in the organization of human activities , technology has many applications in
today s world (WebFinance, Inc.). Whether the newest cellular device, video gaming console or tablet,
or even some new vaccine or cure for a disease, technology is meant to make humans lives easier,
faster, less stressful, more enjoyable and ultimately better, and make society a better place.
Technology grows with humans and their needs and wants. When humans needed some sort of way to
protect themselves, gather resources more easily, and farm, humans developed stone tools and
weapons to use. Windmills, steam engines, use of petroleum, and the harnessing of electricity made
life easier, faster and less stressful whether that energy is used for textiles, metallurgy, agriculture, or
transport, the harnessing of wind, steam, petroleum and electricity truly helped society grow and the
individual prosper. Later, militaries had better weapons to fight with and technology to use (radar,
sonar) to use against their opponents, and hospitals had pharmaceuticals, anesthetics, antiseptics, and
better examination techniques (X Rays, radiation therapy, blood transfusions). While it can be useful,
many question the usefulness and application of technology that seemingly does not help society and
the individual and instead are a detriment. After World War II, some questioned the

Creation Theology Paper
Creation happened at the beginning of time. In cultures all around the world, there can be found
explanations of how people came to be and how the world they live in was formed. Creation theology
is a bit different. It explains how Christians believe the God of the Bible formed the world and how
that impacts them today. A belief that most Christians hold that can be traced back to the Apostle s
Creed is that God the Father is maker of heaven and earth . This can be translated in different ways
however, and this paper will try and explain some of the different ways that the Biblical account of
Creation can be understood. Creation can also be linked to other beliefs of the church, especially to
Christ himself. The Biblical Creation of the world will be recognized in this paper by being
capitalized, creation will reference the beginning of the world and nature will be used to describe what
has been created like the plants, animals, and humans. In this paper, I will explain the different parts of
Creation theology and connect Creation to other parts of Christology.
Creation Theology The story of how the world was created has been told in different ways since the
beginning of time. Nature clearly points out to humans that there is a God (Williams, 2007). This can
be called natural theology which uses nature to prove that there is a God (McGrath, 2008). The world
is very complex with many different parts of it interwoven and dependent on each other. It is very

The s Leadership Style During World War II
William Frederick Halsey, Jr., was the South Pacific Fleet Admiral during World War II, His passion
for naval aviation helped save the community and provide national support from the American people
back home. He was the major source of moral during the war for the American people, and always
produced results whenever and wherever it was needed. Although Halsey s leadership style has been
disputed more often than not, his decisions and role as Fleet Admiral during World War II served
greatly in the American victory over Japan. HALSEY HELPED TIP THE BALANCE OF POWER IN
THE PACIFIC DURING THE EARLY STAGES OF WORLD WAR II DURING 1942 1943, AND
ESTABLISH THE IMPORTANCE OF AVIATION AS A COMMUNITY IN THE NAVY. William
Halsey was raised with the influence of the Navy from birth. He was born on October 30th, 1882 in
New Jersey into a military family. His father was an officer in the Navy, and a distant relative, Captain
John Halsey, served as an English privateer during Queen Anne s war 1703 1713. Halsey was
essentially born into the navy, and was influenced by the service at such a young age. His boldness
outspoken nature was first demonstrated at an early age when he had trouble receiving admission into
the United States Naval Academy, and did not want to accept no for an answer. What distinguished
Halsey was the determination that he exhibited to get there...he immediately started writing letters to
anyone who might help, including one plea to President William McKinley. His

In this report, the model of the Pioneer s operation manual was 8850MP model, which is the top range
car stereo head unit of Pioneer. The price in retail store is around AUD 800 and the unit contains many
high technology features, such as ipod compatibility and Bluetooth. Surprisingly, the operation manual
looks like a cheap heater or a fan operation manual. It used black and white color which shows bad
quality pictures, and the pictures are also very small to see. Moreover, it seem like the writers want to
used less pictures as possible to describes the operational function, which is definitely too little to

On the other hand, compare with O2 mobile phone operational manual (see appendix E) which also
has high technology features and selling at the same price. It can see much difference between them.

Cruise Ship s And The Canadian Arctic Essay
Cruise Ship s and the Canadian Arctic
Cruise ship tourism is on the rise, by the end of 2016 nearly 24 million people will have taken a cruise
( Cruise Industry Outlook, 2016). The cruise ship industry has experience a 68% increase in demand
since the mid 2000 s. Therefore, it is not surprising then, that the cruise ship industry had an global
economic impact of 119.9 billion in 2014 ( Cruise Industry Outlook, 2016). As more individuals turn
to cruises to fulfill their vacation needs, and arctic cruises are gaining in popularity due to melting sea
ice caused by climate change the issue of sustainability must be discussed, particularly the
environmental, economic and cultural impact that these enormous floating hotels will undoubtedly
have on the people and environment of Canada s Arctic.
The 1960 s marked the beginning of cruise tourism ( Brida, et.al, 2013). However, it wasn t until the
70 s and 80 s that the cruise industry began to experience moderate growth. All of this changed
however in 90 s when cruise tourism took root in Europe, Asia and Oceania and 3.8 million people
worldwide embarked on ocean adventures ( Brida, et.al, 2013). Although the industry has experienced
continual growth since the 90 s, and cruises are consistently ranked as one of the top preferred
vacation type by holiday goers, the cruise tourism industry is still relatively small in relation to other
forms of international tourism (Brida, et.al, 2013).

Toxic Waste And Hazardous Waste
Toxic wastes are a big problem what we are still facing today around the world. Most of this toxic
waste is affecting our water that people need to survive with. Drinking water is now dangerous in
certain parts of the world, and water is very essential to living. If they can t have drinking water, how
do we expect them to have water to clean them as well? With the toxic wastes being a big controversy,
we as a whole need to stand up and fix this problem for everyone. People only want to take control
when it is hitting home, with their neighbors and family and friends. What few have failed to realize, it
has been in our homes as well.
There is a difference between toxic waste and hazardous waste that many people don t know about.
People just categorize all negative aspects of waste as hazardous, even though neither one is good for
yourself or the environment. Toxic waste is when only the negative is digested or absorbed, then in
can be harmful to the body. This includes things that can cause birth defects, injuries, or death to
living organisms. While hazardous waste is when it is a solid, liquid, or gas that contains one or more
of these properties; reactive, can be ignitable, can corrode, or has toxicity and which may have to be
handled, stored, transported, and disposed of in a controlled manner.
According to the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, hazardous waste is described as
a waste that has substances in it that can make it harmful to human health

  • 2. What Is The Personification In The Dream Of The Rood Dream of the Rood 1. The speakers described in the story are referred to as the dreamer and a cross. The cross is given huge personification inside the story as it is an inanimate object. Both speakers view Christ as a selfless hero. They use the names such as heavens Lord, the wielder of victories, the prince of glory, and heavens Guardian to describe him. The poet describes Christ as someone who has won a great battle against the sins of mankind. By winning this battle he is able to rebirth into a society that is more holy than it ever was before. This to the poet is something so mighty that it alone has the power to buy true happiness and peace for all of mankind. 2. Word structure and style of the poem leaves a flowy, serene feel throughout the story. The use of personification in terms of the cross and the mass amounts of imagery brings out an outworldly presence. The inner thoughts of the dreamer can be easily confused with reality and leaves the reader wondering what is actually happening and what isn t. Riddles add to the flow of the poem by providing a fantasy feel. The Wanderer 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wanderer inside this poem is perceived as such because he has lost everything and is searching for a new place to start over. He wonders endlessly from place to place to find what he used to have in his life. The wanderer is looking to rebuild his life because he has lost his structure. I believe this is relevant to the universal situation that many people face going through life. There are many times when we lose things or people that mean the world to us and we have to start over. It s important to not take what is right in front of us for granted. We will all eventually passed away so it s important to be content rather than wondering endlessly for what we don t have or else we will die unhappy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weddings, A Rite Of Passage Lauren Gray Professor Watters Anthropology 310 11 October 2014 Weddings, A rite of passage A rite of passage is a public ceremony that marks, recognizes, celebrates or is believed to actually cause a change in a person and her or his status, usually brought about or related to increasing age (Peoples, Bailey). Almost every culture has rituals that signal a change in life. Marriage is one of the most common rites of passage in any culture. Weddings and marriage ceremonies are clear transitions from adolescence to adulthood. Some form of marriage is known to have existed in all human societies. Its traditional function in most of these societies has been to stabilize sexual relations and to unite a man and a woman in order to provide care for the young. In addition, marriage has linked and allowed for economic exchanges between different kin groups and has served as the primary coming of age ritual for women (Nelson). In America we are known for throwing lavish ceremonies and expensive parties to celebrate the union between two people. I ve attended quite a few weddings and participated in one during my lifetime thus far. Most weddings in the American culture follow the same itinerary. Before a wedding ceremony is thought of or takes place the couple preparing for marriage usually separate from their families and begin to make a home together. During the separation phase from each of his or her families an engagement occurs. A typical engagement consists of the man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Characteristics Of The Leopard The Leopard Long ago, the leopard and the Ethiopian, his white hunting companion, lived in a place called the High Veldt. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra. This retelling of Rudyard Kipling s How the Leopard Got His Spots is a fanciful fable which portrays the cunning nature of the leopard. Besides its stealthiness and competitiveness, this spotted wonder possesses several other traits which display God s originality in creating it. In order to understand the significance of the leopard, one must understand its physical characteristics and behavior, unique habitat and hunting strategies, and extreme threats to its existence. It s helpful to understand the taxonomy and naming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of This Boy s Life Tabula rasa. A phrase originating from Latin that is translated to clean slate. John Locke, a philosopher, coined this term to coincide with his theory that each human is born without any pre existing traits or views of the world. To those who share Locke s conception, one could understand how easily Tobias Wolff conformed to the negative impacts he had grown up with. He is the equivalent of an unwritten book with the potential for success and academic achievement but tainted with abandonment and neglect. The antagonists Roy, Dwight, and even his own mother are the sources of false power and manhood he obtained which has an influence on his actions. Even with all of these influences, the young and naive Jack (a name Tobias Wolff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (99). Another reason that leads to his actions, which is also the reason he wanted to strip the importance of his receival of the name Tobias and call himself Jack instead, is his father who blatantly abandoned him and his mother for a luxurious life. Wolff s father, in summary, was a man who married a millionaire and moved to Paris with Jack s older brother, Geoffrey, because he had a promising future. As wealthy as he was, the cowardly man refuses to pay his legal pittance. Jack witnesses the effects of the lack of financial support on his mother. This anger leads him to confidently say We were barely making it, and making it in spite of him. My shedding the name he d given me would put him in mind of that fact. (9) The relieved diction seen with the term shedding can only allow readers to infer that removing his assigned name was a way to disassociate his burden of a father to him and his mom. • 8. The Science Of Human Cloning The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute, Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists, physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists. A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. Another possible scenario would be the supposition that a person would become sick with a disease that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Delano s Genius In Benito Cereno, By Herman Melville Adam Mandel 6 October 2014 L204 Delano s Genius The story of Benito Cereno is written by Herman Melville, yet is narrated by the captain of the Bachelor s Delight, Amasa Delano. By using an in story narrator, Melville seems to divorce himself from the action, and any opinions he may have about the characters. The reader is forced to watch the events unfold through the eyes of Delano, and this deceives the audience into thinking Delano is a senseless, aloof sailor. However, Melville actually believes Delano to be a genius and uses his multiple narrator storytelling style to hide this from the audience. Many might argue that Captain Delano was not a bright man. He did not jump on the strange occurrences on the Bachelor s Delight, and Babo fooled him on more than one occasion. However, Delano did notice the strange happenings: At this moment the young sailor s eye was again fixed on the whisperers, and Captain Delano thought he observed a lurking significance in it, as if silent signs of some Freemason sort had that instant been interchanged (Melville 54). ... • 14. Ancient Greek Culture And Its Impact On Modern Society The ancient Greeks, or also called the Hellenes, had a more westernized culture compared to other surrounding cultures in their time. Much of ancient Greek culture has influenced our culture today in America. They have influenced modern society through their religion, architecture, theatre, literature, society, language and sports. An important aspect of ancient Greece culture was their religion. The ancient Greeks created Greek Mythology to help convey natural occurrences and changes of nature because they were not advanced enough to explain why these things happened.1 They created many narratives and myths based on this religion and their gods. Today we see and use many aspects of their religion in modern culture. Many names for our planets and constellations come from Greek mythology names. Some cities in the United States use the names of Greek gods and goddesses. The zodiac signs used in horoscopes today are based on their mythology. Ancient Greece architecture, well known for their different types of columns, the Doric order, the Ionic order, and the Corinthian order.2 The Doric columns appeared stout, they had smooth and round capitals, and a square abacus that connected the capitals to the entablature. The Ionic columns had a small base and a double curve at the top of the stone column.3 The Corinthian columns are the most ornate out of the three types of columns. Prehensile Tailed Skink ( Corucia Zebrata ) Prehensile Tailed Skink (Corucia zebrata) The prehensile tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) is an endemic tropical squamate that is found inhabiting all major islands of the Solomon archipelago in the Southwest Pacific. It is considered to be one of the largest known skinks and has many common names such as Solomon Island skink, giant skink, monkey tail skink, Solomon Island prehensile tailed skink, or simply, Corucia. And just as the common name indicates, C. zebrata possesses the interesting adaptation of a prehensile tail (Vosjoli, 1993). The Latin name, zebrata, is indicative of their zebra stripe ornamentation. The genus Corucia is monotypic and only consists of C.z. zebrata and a subspecies population, C.z. alfredschmidti, also known as the Northern prehensile tailed skink that inhabits Bougainville Island in the Solomon islands (Harmon, 2002). There is an unfortunate small amount of information known about this species in the wild, but what has been studied and is known, has led to the belief that this is somewhat of an unusual and ecologically unique species among the Scincidae (Hagen, Evolution and Ecology of the Prehensile Tailed Skink, 2011). Physical Description and Adaptations Corucia zebrata have been shown to exhibit some degree of sexual dichromatism and dimorphism, however the differences are not highly distinctive between the sexes in allowing for easy interpretation (Vosjoli, 1993). Aspects Of Attomicroscopy Attomicroscopy As explained in the previous section, this approach is a promising way for generating isolated electron pulses last only few tens of femtosecond and hundreds of attosecond. This approach has striking advantages over the conventional compression techniques[51, 52, 97, 116], which can be summarized as follows: (I) The generated electron pulse duration is limited only by the gating laser pulse duration which could be in the order of attosecond time scale[20]. But, the nanostructure system where the photon electron coupling takes place should has a broadband response over the spectral bandwidths of the gated pulse. (II) The extreme phase and synchronization stability ( 1 fs) can be achieved between the pump and gating laser ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The temporal evolution of the electrons in the presence of the evanescent field can be described by a time dependent Schrödinger equation including a light matter coupling Hamiltonian with a classical electromagnetic field, whose solution can be found self consistently by solving the Lippmann Schwinger equation (Eq. (4) in ref (160)). Expanding the electron wave function in a basis of momentum eigenstates corresponding to gaining or losing a certain number of photons, the Lippmann Schwinger equation can be solved, and the expansion coefficients are given in a recursive manner (Eq. (9) in ref (160)). With the expansion coefficients, the probabilities of electrons gaining/losing L photons can be computed from[160] Ρ_L=∑_(N=|L|)^∞▒∑_(N`=|L|)^∞▒C_L^N (C_L^(N`) )^* exp⁡ { ((N+N`) 〖(τ⁄τ_p )〗^2)/(1+ [((N+N`))⁄2] 〖(τ_e⁄τ_p )〗^2 )}/√(1+[((N+N`))/2] 〖(τ_e⁄τ_p )〗^2 ) (1) where N and N` are possible numbers of total scattering events,C_L^N s are the expansion coefficients of the electron wave function in the basis of momentum eigenstates corresponding to gaining or losing a certain number of photons, τ the delay between the electron and gating optical pulses, τ_e the electron pulse duration, and τ_p the laser gating pulse duration. • 18. The Importance Of Artifice In Society Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret that artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As illustrated by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to become so ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the entertainment industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more likely to be disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has seen more abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that newspapers skew reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior motives. Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in society, and their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within the United States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to expose this behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery remains essential for success in media and politics. White people may view slavery as a good thing or a bad thing and view black people as equals or not. They may feel horrible about what their people has done to African Americans in the past and become sympathetic to them.White people may feel guilty. African Americans may not be as understanding to white people. White people were responsible for slavery.Slavery was cruel and brutal. It broke up families, limited life choice and resulted in the death of many African Americans. They were dehumanized by Caucasians which is something that black people still suffer from today. Modern readers gain insight about Ancient Greek culture from the use of archetypes in Homer s epic, The Odyssey. The hero archetype is very important in this story. It is the main one and Odysseus represents it. The hero always tries to defend the greater good at all costs. An example when Odysseus was a hero, was when he saved his men from the the Cyclops. Odysseus s plan was to escape and to also hurt the cyclops. The S. marcenscens first isolated came from polenta that was taking on an unusual bright red color. Initially S. marcenscens was believed to be nonpathogenic and was commonly used as a biological marker because of its unique red color (Merlino, 1924). It was not until the 1950 s that S. marcenscens was discovered to be pathogenic in humans (Wheat et al, 1951). S. marcenscens is an adaptable bacteria found in many different environments including water, soil, gastrointestinal tracts of many animals, but grow particularly well on starchy food sources (Petersen and Tisa, 2013). • 24. The Impact of Melting Ice Caps The Impact of Melting Ice Caps There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet. The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space. However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and ...
