History of Graffiti
The History of Graffiti Graffiti is a form of art involving writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or
sprayed illicitly on a wall in public places. Graffiti has also existed back in the Roman Empire and
Ancient Greek. During the time of the Catacombs of Rome, graffiti was known as inscriptions, figure
drawing that were found on the walls of ancient sepulchers or ruins. The earliest forms of graffiti
dated back to 30,000 BCE in the form of prehistoric cave paintings and pictographs using tools such
as animal bones and pigments. These illustrations were often placed in ceremonial and sacred
locations inside of the caves. In today s society graffiti is a form of art that expresses underlying social
and political messages and a whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the late 60 s there was a great amount of names on buildings and walls throughout the city.
Gang Graffiti merged its way through political slogans that reflected the social change of a nation. The
peace sign was very common around college campuses as well. Black militancy was seen with spray
painted messages of FREE HUEY and OFF THA PIG . Most neighborhoods in New York City known
as barrios, there were Puerto Rican flags painted everywhere with the expression; VIVA PUERTO
RICO LIBRE . Within the Washington Heights section of Manhattan new Graffiti writers started to
evolve. In 1971 The New York Times published an article on one of these writers. TAKI 183 was the
alias of a kid from Washington Heights. TAKI whose reals name is Demetrius and 183 was the
number of the street where he lived. He was employed as a foot messenger, so he was on the subway
frequently and took advantage of it by creating motion tags. The appearance of this unusual name and
numeral sparked public curiosity prompting the Times article. He was by no means the first writer or
even the first king. He was however the first to be recognized outside the newly formed subculture.
Most widely credited as being one of the first writers of significance is JULIO 204. FRANK 207 and

Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Ww1 Trenches
Of the numerous strategies used throughout World War 1 and 2 those in WW2 proved more effective
due to the standstill trench warfare brought, the ease with which trenches were defeated by tanks later
in the war, and the speed and efficiency widespread mechanized warfare and blitzkrieg gave to armies
in WW2.
In throughout WW1, trenches were used quite liberally along the front lines. As a strategy to prevent
advancement of the enemy s front lines trenches proved effective, however due to its widespread use
by both sides it prevented nearly any progression in the war for periods of time. The stagnation it
caused is a major reason why widespread use of the tactic was ineffectual. Dues to the long periods
troops stayed in trenches, which were quite unsanitary and muddy soldiers often contracted infectious
diseases or gangrene, pushing this tactic further into the reaches of inferior due to the harm it could
cause one s own troops. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tanks allowed a force to advance towards an enemy s lines with the protection of the armor and
playing a part in rendering trenches obsolete. The further advancement of tank technology following
WW1 cemented trench warfare s ineffectuality and obsolescence, as the vast majority of tank s flaws
were greatly improved.
The invention, improvement, and proliferation of tanks not only rendered numerous WW1 strategies
completely obsolete but gave rise to mechanized warfare. Mechanized warfare in its various forms
proved quite effective One specific type such as the highly mechanized blitzkrieg, allowed the Nazis
to very quickly and effectively overwhelm the defenses of nations during invasions prior to and early
in the Second World War. Besides Blitzkrieg, mechanized warfare in general, allowed battles to reach
a decisive conclusion quickly, meaning battles were often far shorter than in

Healthcare Law And Breaches Of Duty Of Care
This essay is going to talk about healthcare law and breaches of duty of care. Healthcare law is
generally tort law. A tort is a legal wrong that the law provides a remedy for. The person that suffers
the injury is known as the plaintiff and the person said to of caused the injury is known as the
defendant or tortfeasor. Tort law originates from the time of the norman conquest in 1066. Tort law is
a type of civil law and tortious wrongs are known as civil wrongs. Tort covers a range of things from
trespass to negligence. Negligence is the most common area of tort law that healthcare professionals
will come across.
The tort of negligence is the term used to categorise behaviour that poses substantial risks to other
people and property. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The case reached the house of lords where mrs donoghue won the case. This was probably due to the
fact that safety measures should be in place to prevent such instances from occurring. These safety

The Bolam test comes from the Bolam v Friern hospital management committee (1957) in which a
patient suffering from manic depression was recommended ECT (electro convulsive therapy). The
patient wasn t fully informed of the side effects of the treatment and the patient suffered a broken
pelvis as a result. Bolam attempted to sue on the grounds that they failed to gain informed consent and
that it was a breach of a duty of care that was owed to him and that the breach resulted in his injury.
The three above points regarding informed consent and injury are now the components of the Bolam
test. The Bolitho test modified the Bolam test and arose from the Bolitho v city and hackney health
authority case in 1998. This case tried to clarify how a two year old died following a cardiac arrest that
resulted in brain damage. The two year old was admitted to hospital due to breathing difficulties a
doctor was called but did not attend due to her bleep not working. The

Herodotus Histories As A Principle Source About Ancient...
Herodotus Histories serves as a principle source about ancient Greece. However, within in it there is
an added complexity of Herodotus own attitudes towards archaic tyrants versus what the actual
attitudes of Archaic Greeks were. As for traditions, Archaic tyrants cannot be accurately confined to
singular traits or patterns of operations. Lineages of tyrants, the Kypselids and Pisistratids, do not have
an overarching flavor, the rulers vary. Additionally, singular rulers, such as Polycrates, have variations
in their description.
A key passage from Histories that best summarizes Herodotus attitudes towards tyranny is the
beginning of Sosicles speech to the Spartans, who are considering reimplementing tyranny in Athens.
This is like the turning of the universe upside down. Earth and sky will soon be changing places men
will be living in the sea and fish on land, now that you Spartans are proposing to abolish popular
government and restore despotism in the cities... . Sosicles believes tyranny is the most backward form
of government to consider, when compared to popular government . He presents tyranny as being so
unnatural, that implementing a tyrant would overturn the rest of natural order. Two hyperbolic
statements earth and sky will soon be changing places and men will be living in the sea and fish on
land , are examples of literal switching of places. They suggests that restoring despotism would be a
reversal to something unnatural and that things are as they

Saudi Arabi A Large Amount Of Energy
Abstract
There has been an increasing growth in the development of new energy resources that can compete
with the energy demands of the growing population of the world. In this manner, a number of steps
have been taken in the major parts of the world. Solar power is been in use since a long time. With the
increasing demands of oil and gas there is a rapid decrease in the supply of these natural resources,
and hence, the authorities are looking for alternative ways to supply the power to the exceeding
population of the world. Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in terms of natural resources and
the supply of oil to other parts of the world is one of the major parts of their stable economy. This is
the reason why the authorities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unending energy into the one that can be used by them in a number of ways of the Solar Power.
The last two decades have played a major role in developing the technological factors related to solar

There are different types of technologies that are used by the human to store this energy and use is
different ways. The solar energy has a number of other impacts on the life on earth including the fossil

The First Time I Saw Edward Cullen
The first time I saw Edward Cullen, I was 13 years old. It was Easter Sunday and instead of waking up
to a basket full of sugary treats; I spent my morning helping my drunk father sober up by making two
pots of strong, black coffee. Taking care of Charlie was nothing out of the ordinary; my mother had
died during childbirth so I learned early on how to cook, clean and even pay the occasional bill.
Dealing with his growing bouts of inebriation, however, was something entirely unexpected and new.
Charlie always drank the occasional beer while watching the game on Sundays, but his sudden habit
of coming home plastered and even on some nights not coming home at all, had me concerned and
confused. Charlie and I did not have what I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m already running late so you will just have to come with me. Bella, you need to do exactly what I
say today. Am I making myself clear? My father s voice was stern and authoritative. He rarely spoke
to me using that tone, so I knew he meant business; I nodded my head and put my jacket on as I
followed him out the door. I found it peculiar when we took a taxi to the restaurant instead of Charlie s
Toyota, but upon reflection, realized my father was still not coherent enough to drive. When we
arrived and entered the lobby, Charlie pointed to a plush red velvet sofa that sat against the wall and
told me to sit down and wait for his return. I was alone in the room so I took advantage of my isolation
and meandered around, admiring the photographs that hung on the surrounding walls. They were of
famous people who had eaten at the restaurant and signed pictures to commemorate their visits. It was
apparent by the numerous photos; Volturi s was a celebrity hot spot. As I heard the noise of the crowd
floating in from the adjoining room, I wondered if any celebrities were among the diners. My curiosity
got the best of me and I foolishly decided to take a quick peek. I attempted to remain cool as I strolled
casually into the room, but my shoe caught on the plush carpeting, causing me to lose my balance and
topple straight into a table. To make matters even worse, I managed to knock over a glass of wine as
well. As I surveyed the damage caused by my mishap, I

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy created by
Albert Ellis. REBT was one of the first types of cognitive therapies and was first called rational
therapy. In 1959 the name was changed to Rational Emotive Therapy and did not get its current name,
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, until 1992. REBT is based on believing that feeling upset is not
caused by an event but rather our beliefs toward the event that upsets us. When people have irrational
beliefs about external or internal effects problems occur. The objective of REBT is to help individuals
modify illogical beliefs and negative thinking to transcend psychological problems and mental
distress. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the client explains what has happening they can then think about all the things they said to
themselves, the B step. When this is all completed the client then can see and begin to understand their
irrational thoughts. With the irrational thoughts laid out in front of the client, the therapist can begin
asking questions like, are these thoughts true to the best of my knowledge? and does it help me to
think like this. When these questions are answered some irrational thoughts should come to surface
and those can be changed into rational thinking and therefore change thoughts from unhealthy to
healthy, from irrational to rational. Once rational thoughts have been realized the therapist should
challenge the client to begin examining their interpretation of negative events that occur in their life in
hopes that rational thoughts occur rather than irrational ones. Because of the clear structure in the
ABC model, REBT is a very effective therapy in many ways in that it is a short and effective form of
therapy that can work well in individual sessions as well as group sessions. REBT is used in all
aspects of therapy, in couples counseling, it is used to work out differences between the couple or at
least become less troubled with them. In family counseling, REBT is used to teach family members to
take the blame off of others and that they re responsible for changing their own

The Life and Writing of William Faulkner Essay
The birth of the modernist movement in American literature was the result of the post World War I
social breakdown. Writers adopted a disjointed fragmented style of writing that rebelled against
traditional literature. One such writer is William Faulkner, whose individual style is characterized by
his use of stream of consciousness and writing from multiple points of view. World War I had a more
profound effect on society than wars prior. With new deadly weapons, like poison gas, high death
tolls, and the first occurrence of total war, shocked the world, tearing people between the modern and
the tradition. Traditional society was torn down by the destruction of the war. As with most literary
movements, writers reflect the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His actually education only goes as far as one year at the University of Mississippi. After leaving
Oxford and living in New Haven, Connecticut for a few years, Faulkner joined the British Royal
Flying Corps. He never served active duty, as the war ended before his training did. Faulkner returned
home and began writing poetry. But his early writing was more of the traditional style a mix of
Shakespeare, Victorian, and Edwardian. It wasn t until a trip to New Orleans in 1925 that he began to
fiddle with his writing style, after a friend encouraged him to write more Southern based prose. His
style also grew as he began reading James Joyce, a high modernist writer, and Sigmund Freud, and
also took a trip to Europe the center of modernist writing. With these influences, Faulkner began
writing novels about Southern society, with an emphasis on the psychology of the characters. For
example, in his novel The Sound and the Fury, Faulkner writes from four different points of view; the
first three sections are of each of the three brother s point of view, and the last section is omniscient.
His writing also plays with chronology, not always following a specific timeline. The disjointedness of
time is very prominent in As I Lay Dying. About the death of a mother, the 59 inner monologues and
fifteen characters make the book more about the characters psychology rather than a

Krishna And Dionysus Similarities
The gods that people worship, devote themselves to, and even kill for are more alike than different.
Being humans, religious sects clash in debates, in the classroom, in our city halls, and on the
battlefield. They only question what is different between their beliefs rather than question what may
be extremely identical. Jesus, Krishna, Zoroaster, Dionysus, Mithra, and others were all birthed by the
will of their respective god. They showed their holiness by performing unimaginable acts that seem
like magic. They died and were resurrected to ascend to the heavens. That leaves the important
question of what else is related.
Krishna and Jesus birth
The Virgin Mary was told she would give birth to the only begotten son of God. Similarly, Dionysus

Krishna angered the nature gods who then flooded the land. He told the villagers to take their cattle to
a mountain. He then lifted the mountain with his finger to save the villagers. Jesus healed the sick and
could supposedly raise the dead like the young girl shown in Mark 5:42: Immediately the girl stood up
and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished (NIV).
Dionysus was able to bring people back from the underworld like his mother, and Horus was able to
bring his father Osiris back to life. Dionysus was the wine god who had enough power to make wine
without water when Jesus could turn water to wine. A guard tried to prevent Zoroaster from entering
the King s palace when he made a ball of fire and held it in his hand; consequently, the guard was
amazed and let him pass. All of the stories have the basic homogeneous motive, which is to prove to
people that they are in fact incarnations of God or the Gods. If they in fact did do these things, then
one of some of them must be wrong because they can t all be incarnations of God. That is true unless
they are a retelling of the same basic story with different cultural additives that influenced ways the
stories were

Corrupt Politics, President s Escape And More For New...
Corrupt politics, president s escape and more to New Ukraine.
Introduction
Ukraine made the news a lot in the past year, but for anything Ukraine discovered or made. In the past
year the country has been in crisis due to the events that started off as a riot for Ukraine becoming a
part of EU and leading to annexation of Crimea and war in east part of the country. Ukraine has been
ruled by corrupt politicians and oligarchs and has been strongly influenced by Russia. These two
countries always had close ties, because of their past as Soviets countries, they share a common
language and are currently in pre war status right now (McMahon, 2014). This past year has been
rough with crisis and has affected areas like: social, cultural and economic. Ukrainian government has
failed its purpose to protect and make improvements in the best interest of the country, and now
thousands of people lost their homes and thousands have died, with hundreds being killed directly at
the request of former President Victor Yanukovych, who now has escaped and currently staying in
Russia with a political support from their side (Babich, 2014). The question now is; with everything
that s happening inside the country, should Russia be allowed to invade and destroy cities and squares,
while the peace agreement and sanctions are attempting to stop this chaos? No, but the aid from
countries like Germany and United States of America is not significant and influential enough to stop
Russia from military

My Passion For Football
Ever since I could walk, I can remember being involved in some kind of sport. Whether it was
recreational or competitive, I wanted to be involved in it. As the years went on, my passion for
athletics narrowed to one particular sport, football. What drew me to this particular sport are its three
main characteristics: physicality, mental prowess, and the intangibles. These assets are required for not
only a person, but a team to be successful.
The physical aspect of the game of football separates those who are truly dedicated and motivated
from those who aren t willing to sacrifice their body. That sacrifice doesn t just mean throwing my
body into a collision. It entails the preparation, not just the performance. This takes place in the
weightroom and on the practice field. There are days when lifting and conditioning aren t the most fun
activity, just like going to school. But, to excel in both areas requires the dedication to work and
prepare when it s not convenient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have to know what every teammate is doing on any given play. I also have to figure out what the
defense s plan is. In a way, football is like a game of chess, full of calculated risks and strategy. My
experience at my position has taught me how and when to take those risks, and when it is best play it
safe. The analytical aspect of football is the most crucial and unseen characteristic of the game.
The last main characteristic, intangibles, can be described most accurately with the word passion.
Passion is what fuels every effort towards success on the field. It is what gets me up early in the
summer to workout, or to run and extra sprint when my body aches not to. It s why I ve spent
countless hours studying film on opponents. When I have a passion for something, I want to do
everything in my power to perform at the best of my

Actions for Wrongful Birth and Wrongful Conception
Actions for wrongful birth and wrongful conception Actions for wrongful birth and wrongful
conception frequently raise moral, ethical and philosophical issues. Legal judgments have often been
contradictory and on occasions have arrived at their conclusions without addressing all the pertinent
issues. Actions for wrongful conception or wrongful birth are variants of clinical liability and
negligence. The initiative to bring an action lies with the parents. This is different for actions for
wrongful life where the action is brought by the child who alleges injury in utero or has a preventable
congenital condition. There has only been in one such case in English law McKay v Essex Area
Health Authority, and the Court of Appeal rejected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second is for the costs associated with raising the resultant child. Whilst the costs associated with
a child s upbringing are also foreseeable their award has posed a greater dilemma for the courts. A
child resulting from a pregnancy arising from a doctor s lack of care would appear to have a tortious
claim to such damages. The concept of compensating for a healthy child has led to moral and policy
concerns. In the Canadian courts some years ago this matter was aired in Doiron v Orr the judge
awarded damages for mental anguish related to the pregnancy but there would be no liability for the
cost of bringing up an unsought child. A range of views has developed from never awarding damages,
always doing so or doing so in a graded fashion by offsetting the benefits of parenthood with the
economic costs. In an action for unwanted pregnancy in Udale v Bloomsbury Area Health Authority
there was an award for pain and suffering along with loss of earnings following a negligently
performed operation. However an award for the economic costs of bringing up a child was rejected. In
his judgment Jupp J felt that the joy and love of a child should be set against economic loss. There was
a different view in Emeh v Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Area Health Authority where the
Court of Appeal awarded damages which included the cost of rearing a child. The court rejected the
policy objections cited in Udale.

Macbeth Analysis Act 5
Macbeth Act 5 Analysis
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow...(5.5.2)
After learning that Lady Macbeth has died, Macbeth evaluates his own indifference to the event. To
Macbeth, death seems merely as the last act of a very bad play, an idiot s tale full of pomposity and
drama ( sound and fury ), but without meaning ( signifying nothing ). Murdering King Duncan and
seizing his throne in retrospect seem like scenes from a script Macbeth was never capable of playing.
To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow along with the other phrases from this layer of bardisms
conveys the mechanical rate of time as it carries this poor actor from scene to scene. The last syllable

Book Report on Apology Essay
Book Report on Apology
In the Apology , Socrates tackles his accusers against certain accusations made against him in the
Court of Law of Athens, Greece. The nature of the accusation that has caused him to stand trial is such
that Socrates is an evil doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in
heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to
others (Plato. The Republic and other plays. pg 449. Doubleday publishing; New York 1989). Socrates
begins with first identifying the type of accusers he has, which consist of those who are in direct
contention with him, the primary accusers, since they are the ones who contrived the accusations.

pg 454). He then explains that if he was corrupting others, he too would have been corrupted long ago
and there would be no good left. Also he rebuttals the charge of not believing in Gods while believing
in higher divinities. The charge, he shows how ludicrous was indeed in nature since how can anyone
believe in flute playing and not the flute player (Plato, pg 457). How can one believe in spiritual and
divine agencies, and not in spirits or demigods? But ultimately Socrates defense is his self lessness.
He attributes his deeds to his duty towards God. He makes it clear that the obligation to truth is far
more closer to God than any other social one that is marked by malice. His poverty, his unchanging
and impartial ways that he followed all his life to search for the truth and when having found it, give it
to others without taking into consideration what the government in power would say or do about it in
itself is an evidence and a virtue that rises above all others to prove him innocent. His defense is
simple and artless because it is the truth, within which some more properties emerge. One of these can
be identified as the simplicity of truth and the other is its universality. Truly, although several impugn
Socrates of wrong doing and misguiding the youth, he was not the first or the last one tried on such a
charge. This points to the nature of truth to be unchanging. Despite all the advances a society may
claim to having

The Total Economic Burden Of Pain
About 41% of American adults suffer from chronic pain. The total economic burden of pain in 2010 is
estimated to range from $560 to $635 billion. Of these, lost productivity alone cost between $299 to
$335 billion; which approximates the yearly cost of heart condition and exceeding the total cost of
cancer and diabetes. On a per person basis, the incremental cost of all US health care expenditures in
2010 is $8233, moderate and severe chronic pain accounted for $4516 (55% of total) and $7726.20
(93.8% of total) respectively (Gaskin et. al. 2012). American workers with neck or back pain costs

Traditionally, spinal problems are believed to always have specific patho anatomic diagnoses just like

emerging businesses and creating viable options in the long run. Strategic direction is the course of
action which leads to achieve goals of an organization strategy (WebFinance, Inc, 2014).

Dual Tasking And Cognitive Tasks
Dual tasking is the simultaneous execution of two tasks, (McArdle, 2015) these tasks include two
elementary cognitive tasks (ECT), or secondary tasks. ECTs are basic tasks which require a small
number of mental processes (Caroll, 1993.) Dual tasking is the combination of two ECTs. Main
cognitive functions, utilised in ECTs, are affected during the process of dual tasking specifically in
executive function and attention. Executive function includes complex mental processes such as:
problem solving, planning and dual tasking as shown in a study by Zelazo (2002.) Attention includes
mental processes such as the ability to concentrate on people; actions, objects and restraint from
impulsive actions. This cognitive function, along with executive ... Show more content on

This refers to focusing on one task until it is completed, rather than sharing attention to another task
and simultaneously trying to complete both (Jayne, 2006.) Patients inflicted with PD, which are
subject to dual task conditions, are seen with an increase in festinating steps and a worsened state of
bradykinesia. In other words; an increased amount of shuffling steps and a slower pace of gait (Brauer,
et al. 2011.) Furthermore, patients with the disorder whilst dual tasking demonstrate: increased
variability in step length and width, leading to asymmetry in gait, and frequent motor blocks compared
to walking alone (Yogev, Plotnik, Peretz, Giladi, Hausdorff, 2007; Spildooren, et al. 2010; Bloem,
Valkenburg, Slabbekoorn, Dijk, 2001.) Therefore, it can be argued that gait present in PD worsens
once a patient is subject to dual tasking

Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic experts recommend that children be screened for braces by the time they turn 7. This is
the recommended age because the child s permanent first molars (upper and lower) should already be
in: Furthermore, the child s four front upper and lower incisors may be in or about to erupt. At
Pediatric Dentistry of Central Florida, we know the importance of a healthy, vibrant smile. For this
reason, our patients receive an orthodontic evaluation at each routine visit.
Issues That May Affect the Teeth and Jaw
Some of the issues that may lead to the need for braces include variances in jaw development and
tooth eruption patterns as well as habits like thumb/finger sucking, pacifier use and/or prolonged
bottle use.

Potential benefits of early treatment include the ability to guide jaw growth, correct oral habits that are
harming the teeth, lower the risk of a trauma occurring to protruding front teeth, enhance your child s

In some cases, early orthodontic treatment may actually prevent a future problem from developing,
decrease the amount of time that treatment is necessary when the child is older, make future any
treatment less complicated or avoid the need for future treatment altogether. Moreover, there are
situations when an orthodontist must address issues as the face and jaws are still forming. With the
benefit of early, routine orthodontic evaluations at Pediatric Dentistry of Central Florida, you provide
your child with his or her best chance for a healthy, vibrant smile.
Early Treatment is Not Always Necessary
Conversely, there might be problems that early treatment cannot address or a problem that does not
warrant immediate treatment. In these cases, orthodontic treatment may be delayed until the child s

Characteristics Of Machiavelli
To be an efficient ruler they must possess the ability to project beast like attitude, with this correlated
with this is the justification of a ruler for breaking his word, this idea only applies if doing otherwise
will place a ruler at a disadvantage within his society. These two characteristics are inevitable and
imperative to rulers if they hope to be successful. For a ruler, presentation is key to leading a
successful society. They must learn to be Half man, half beast. Machiavelli points this out in The
Prince through an allegory, Chiron is a centaur who was a teacher to other princes. He demonstrated
the need for rulers to develop both characteristics, that of a man and beast. This idea is essential
because Machiavelli thought of men by nature as deceptive liars, who would take advantage of a ruler
and his power if they sensed a submissive attitude (P.54). This could be a consequence of not
exhibiting that beast like quality, which could later place not only the ruler, but society as a whole at a
disadvantage.
Isaiah Berlin, author of the article A Special Supplement: The Question of Machiavelli , further
justifies this concept by explaining: The pagan world that Machiavelli prefers is built on recognition
of the need for systematic guile and force by rulers, and he seems to think it natural and not at all
exceptional or morally agonizing that they should employ these weapons wherever they are needed
(P.35). Because the book was written in the 16th century when

writings are, Causation of Law 1959, Concept of Law 1961, Law liberty and Morality 1963, Of Laws
in General 1970, and Essays on Bentham 1982. This article focuses on one of his highly appreciated
work, Concept of Law 1961. The book analyses on the law, morality and fear or threat through which
the author is attempting to classify the question as to whether the law can be conceptualized as the
forceful orders or the moral commands. Prof. Hart is of the opinion that all laws need not be classified
as coercive or moral commands, there need not be any logical connection between the Laws, and
morality or between the laws and coercion. He is of the opinion that by classifying all laws as either
moral commands or coercive orders will be misleading and mischaracterizing the purpose and
function for which the law was originally created. Different laws have different applicability as it is
drawn from several sources and there exists a purpose for which a law will be created. Laws are made
to curtail the actions of man, and to prohibit him from various kinds of actions. These are called duties
which a person has to do as he is bound by the law to do it. In case of breach of this duty, the law
imposes a punishment which a person has to undergo to keep an order in the society. The

if they ever went into foreclosure, they could be secure in knowing that they would still have a place

be incorporating some socialism factors of government into our federal government. I consider this a
sensible solution because our federal government has a double security system that prevents our

Essay Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Numbers do not exist. They are creations of the mind, existing only in the realm of understanding. No
one has ever touched a number, nor would it be possible to do so. You may sketch a symbol on a paper
that represents a number, but that symbol is not the number itself. A number is just understood.
Nevertheless, numbers hold symbolic meaning. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about
the significance, implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a
change to double digits? Is zero a number or a non number? Or, the matter this paper will address:
Why does the number three hold an understood and symbolic importance?
My interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I offer what I call the Utility Based Approach, which attempts to explain the prominence of
three by noting its usefulness in telling fairy tales. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that
three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale
whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex
mental capabilities.
Background/Historical Context
Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that
happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number
that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is
not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three
starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum
of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized consciously or
subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid. Indeed, this idea could be what gave
rise to the spiritual significance of three.
Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken Bassett outlines in
his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most

Examples Of Social Hierarchy In Northanger Abbey By Jane Ayre
Social hierarchy and the patriarchal society are explored in Jane Austen s novels. She shows us how
society and class order affected women in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Men were
deemed superior over women. There were many differences that reflect the members of a particular
social class and gender modes of conduct, upbringing, manner, education, and morality. Austen shows
the injustice of inheritance laws and the psychological vulnerability of the women in her novels.
Northanger Abbey portrays the volatility of patriarchal power.

CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Problem Background
The Malawi financial scoping survey on micro, small, and medium enterprises (2012) shows that
Malawi has close to 760, 000 small business owners generating annual revenue of about US$2billion,
but 60 per cent of whom do not use financial services. The small business owners in Malawi are
relatively young with an average age of 31 years, with 70 per cent of them having just primary
education. The MSME sector creates employment for just over a million people. The 2012 MSME
survey established that 59% of MSMEs were excluded from financial services, as opposed to 31% that
are formally served by some sort of financial system, with the balance relying on informal services.
Only 22% are banked. Over three quarters do not borrow funds, primarily because they doubt their
ability to repay loans. Of those who borrow, informal credit systems tend to be the primary source of
credit. The survey establishes that the smaller the business in terms of number of employees the less
likely that the owner has or uses banking services to manage the finances of their business. In
recognition of the role that SMEs play in the economy, the Government of Malawi has made the
development of SMEs a priority MSME policy (2007).
Small and medium enterprises play an important role in providing employment, improving people s
livelihood and in the overall economy. It is therefore imperative that the MSMEs explore other

Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few

Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing himself in opposition to the great masses of humanity as

however, before he could actively pursue Miss Baker, he acknowledges, there was one little matter he

Analysis Of The Death Of Venice By Thomas Mann
Tadzio as an Illuminator
In Thomas Mann s Death In Venice, Tadzio is likened to the sun and thus represents an illuminating
force for knowing what is truly good and just and by consequence represents a higher truth. This quest
for knowledge on what is good becomes apparent as Aschenbach becomes more and more infatuated
with Tadzio, not in a romantic sense, but rather a sense of seeking what he believes is right, a platonic
relationship which ultimately sparks Aschenbach s demise. Aschenbach s motives are somewhat
muddled as he enters the second half of his life and seeks to find what is true. To do this he decides to
take a vacation to Venice where he meets Tadzio. After being a rather stoic and cold person, this all
melts away as he basks in Tadzio s presence as one would in the sun. Tadzio as a representation for
light is why Aschenbach is so drawn to him, because he believes that the child could be the
illuminating figure for him. While Tadzio himself is not the higher truth personified, he does act as the
ray of light for seeing what Aschenbach s wants in his life, what he sought after since the beginning of
the story. Examples of this relationship and its representations include how Tadzio is likened to Helios
who is the sun giant in Greek mythology, the imagery associated with sun and Tadzio, such as Tadzio
rising from the sea and how ever present he is in the environment around Aschenbach, how Tadzio is
described as Aschenbach s Mirror and image suggesting that

friend. We spent 12 to 16 hours together on the pod making sure the inmates had what they needed
and on occasions we to protect each other. We both came from two totally different backgrounds. But
despite that we worked extremely well together. After reading chapter

Planned Parenthoods
October 20th, 2015 the U.S House voted to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood due to their
harvesting of body parts of aborted babies and fetal tissue, among other parts for scientific research
and selling to third party companies to distribute. The companies they sold to used the parts as they
wished for research and supposedly for ingredients in cosmetic wear. Center for Medical Progress, an
anti abortion group, released the videos of them secretly meeting with director of Texas Planned
Parenthoods who teaches the methods for abortions for the state, whom explained that they perform
abortions to gather intact fetal specimens. Many types of people claim that such an issue is so morally
corrupt that the company should be defunded federally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even on the patient consent form, patients at Planned Parenthood sign a form that says I agree to give
my blood and/or the tissue from the abortion as a gift to be used for education, research or treatment.
for scientic research on diabetes, Parkinson s disease, Alzheimer s disease, cancer and AIDS. A
professor of University of Wisconsin Madison s law, medicine and public health, explains that it
makes sense that money is involved in the procurement of tissue and organs, even if that involves fetal
specimen. The professor, R. Alta Charo says, It s been going on for 50 or 60 years; it s ordinary
practice, she says. There is good reason for it. We want to help the people who are living or may be
living in the future. But according to Eric Ferrero, vice president of communications at Planned
Parenthood Federation of America, says the research has advanced vaccines, treatments for life
threatening diseases, and goes toward finding cures for specific maternal and infant health conditions.
The National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act even allows for reasonable payments associated
with transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, or storage of human fetal
issue. This law doesn t define reasonable payments , so violations can be difficut to prove. Most
Planned Parenthood facilities and any abortion provider don t have control over how fetal tissue is
ultimately used and many women (patients) are uninformed of the possibilities of how their donation
is used in the consent forms. Research to develop skin cosmetics and anti aging products has also
benefitted from the collecting of fetal tissue (non medical) and there isn t a standing law that prevents

Outline the Structure of the Main Tissues of the Body.
P2: Outline the structure of the main tissues of the body.
In this assignment I m going to talk about the structure of the main tissues which are found within the
body as well as what their role is in the terms of two named organs of the body. Tissues are a
collection of similar cells that group together to carry out a specific function within the body. There
are four different types of tissue found in the human body which include; epithelial tissue; connective
tissue; muscle tissue and nerve tissue.
The first type of tissue found in the human body is epithelial tissue. These types of tissue are found
covering the whole surface of the body, lining of cavities, hollow organs and tubes. The cells a very
closely packed and are arranged in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transitional epithelium is also composed of several layers but is constructive of pear shaped cells
instead. This type of tissue is stretchy, meaning it can contract and expand. It is usually found lining
the urinary bladder as it allows for stretching as the bladder fills up.
The second type of tissue found in the body is connective tissue. They lie beneath the epithelial tissue
helping to connect different part of the internal structure, the cells are more widely separated from
each other then in epithelial tissue. The intercellular substance known as the matrix is found in
considerably large amounts. Within the matrix there are usually fibres which may be a jelly like
consistency or dense and rigid depending on the type, function and positioning of the tissue. Theses
fibres form a supporting system for cells to attach to. The major functions of connective tissue are to
transport materials, give structural support and protection. The types of connective tissue that will be
explained are blood, bone, cartilage, bone, areolar tissue and adipose tissue.
Blood is made up of straw coloured plasma, the matrix, in which various types of blood are carried.
Plasma is mainly water where substances are carried such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, nutrients
such as glucose and amino acids, salts, enzymes and hormones. Also there is a combination of
important proteins which help with blood clotting, transport,

Family Life Revealed In Taoist Writings
Have you ever heard of Taoist Writings? Taoist Writings were initially created to provide guidance to
wise rulers or those who wished to live wisely. Through the poem, Tao Te Ching, I learned that the
culture centuries ago believed that life happens to you and nothing you do can change it. Therefore,
they preferred to sit back and accept their fate. In this poem, there are fundamentals that we still in
modern times live by. For instance, we both believe family is the most important thing in our life. A
quote from the poem that proves they held this value, In family life, be completely present (Mitchell
414). A concrete example from modern times that proves we have this value is Thanksgiving. On
Thanksgiving, we get together with our family to celebrate. It is believed that without a family it is
difficult to live happily since there is no one to cherish and appreciate you. Without a family, you can
not share your happiness. Therefore, I believe that we share this fundamental with the people back
when Tao Te Ching was written. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the poem, it, speaks of the ideal where people act without doing anything. A quote
from the poem that proves they held this value is, Therefore the Master acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything (Mitchell 414). In modern day, you will find that this ideal is not
respected or preached. In America, we believe that you will achieve nothing if you don t apply hard
work and dedications. Those who take the initiative, are the ones who succeed. A personal example
would be my sisters. My sister is getting her masters in political science and has done multiple
internships so she can get somewhere in life. Due to the reasons mentioned above, you can see how
this is an idea that we do not

My Home Country Korea Has A Reputation For Its Intense...
My home country Korea has a reputation for its intense education system. When I was in high school,
I used to go to school at 7am, finish class at 4pm, and have self study time in school until 10pm. The
main reason I needed to study that long was because of math and especially Calculus. Calculus took
more than half of the math course and therefore was a crucial subject. Experiencing Korean Calculus
course is not an experience most students here in Miami can have, so I would like to introduce what is
what like, how it was different from MTH 151, and what I learned through the experience.
First, to give a brief explanation about Korean Calculus, the material I learned was mostly the same to
that of MTH 151, starting from limits to anti derivatives. However, Korean Calculus has more
challenging problems than just calculations. Calculation problems are used to get a grip of the
mathematical concepts, but the real problems are integrated questions. These are math questions that
have mixtures of different math concepts, such as derivatives combined with matrix. In addition to the
basic concepts, teachers teach advanced equations outside of textbooks that are useful when solving
integrated problems and tips on solving specific hard questions that come up frequently in tests.
After experiencing both Korean and American math, the biggest difference I noticed was the level of
intensity. On the one hand, Korea is very harsh when it comes to math. Basically, the amount of math

The Case of Phar Mor Inc
ACCT 525
October 31, 2012
Case Summary
The case of Phar Mor Inc was one of the biggest pre Enron frauds that have been uncovered. Phar Mor
Inc established in 1982 Phar Mor was a small little known discount drugstore. Phar Mor became well
known for offering medications at a 25 40% discount rate compared to your normal pharmacy store
prices. Phar Mor s first six years of existence seemingly were fraud free and saw the company grow at
a decent pace for their field. By 1987 Phar Mor almost had 100 stores and was expanding even more
rapidly at this point.
The first hint of fraud came up and was discovered being a billing type scheme ... Show more content

At the time of discovery Phar Mor was overstated by over a $150 million dollars and had no other
choice but to file bankruptcy.
Could SOX have prevented the Phar Mor fraud? How? Which specific sections of SOX?
During the time period that the Phar Mor fraud took place it was one of the most elaborate frauds of
the 1980 s so could SOX prevented the fraud? The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar
Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long
run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being
detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most
important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows
Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked
with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing
final audits of the company.
Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for
Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. Phar Mor had 3 former
employees of the audit firm who worked for them which allowed them the knowledge to know that the

Savannah State University Research Paper
Savannah state university visitation rules states that overnight visitors of the opposite sex are
prohibited. The visitation rules also state that visitation hours are from 12 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the
week and from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. during the weekends. When I first got to savannah state during the
week of welcome in the sessions that were held for the freshmen we were told that we are adults now
and it was time for us to start acting as responsible adults. We were also told that our parents wouldn t
be here to baby us, to tell us what to do, or what time to get up for classes. I understand that the
university has to have rules and regulations. However, what I don t agree with is how are we supposed
to act like adults when we are still being treated as children. I personally don t feel as though we
should have rules and limitations on who can come visit us, or what times they can come and go. We
should have an open campus as far as visitation goes, but to a certain extent. The reason why I say to a
certain extent is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as we would if we purchased our own living space. If we had purchased our own place to stay
wherever that would be I m sure that there will be rules that we would have to abide by as well, which
is fine but if we didn t abide by those rules we would most likely be kicked out and that s how our
campus visitation rules should be regulated. Also if the school can trust the upper classmen housing
with no visitation limitations then they should at least try to trust the freshmen housing with no

Statement Of Purpose In Financial Engineering
From childhood, I have been passionate about mathematics and problem solving. Given the
quantitative focus of engineering, I pursued my undergraduate studies in civil engineering. During my
years in college, I used my elective courses to explore subjects from different disciplines. Of these, I
developed a deep interest in finance, particularly the financial markets and trading. To know more in
finance, I later enrolled in CFA level 1, participated in virtual stock market competitions, did an
internship in equity research and started trading with some personal funds.
To further my passion for financial markets, I took up a job as a derivatives trader, trading commodity
futures on Chicago mercantile exchange(CME). As a trader, I received intensive ... Show more content

The Importance Of Voter Participation In Canada
Elections are the most vital mechanism for a democracy since it is the role of the citizens to elect the
representatives of their government. As one of the most established democracies, Canada had been
experiencing decreasing participation in its elections. In 2008, voter turnout in Canada hit its lowest
point at an average of 58.8%, keeping in mind that the average voter turnout in Canada has been
70.7% (Canada, 2017). Even though there may not be one coherent explanation, there are a few
predictors that could justify the decline in Canada s voter turnout. Firstly, political interest is essential
in motivating citizens to participate in politics, and the least informed citizens are the less motivated
they are to participate. Secondly, personal barriers such as age, gender, race, language and socio
economic status play a major role as a determinant for the participation in elections. Finally, Canada s
current electoral process the system in which citizens use to cast their votes is a factor that may deter
participants from voting because of its cited weaknesses. For instance, the current system has brought
into question its lack of democracy and representation. Therefore, while participation in federal
elections is essential to a functioning democracy, there has been a decline in voter turnout due to lack
of political interest, personal barriers, and the electoral process.
Political interest is a highly important motivator for the participation in federal elections.

Written On The Banks Of The Arun By William Wordsworth...
The hustle and bustle of modern day prevents people from truly contemplating the meanings of their
life. People nowadays have little time to become one with nature and detach themselves from
technology. Two poets who captured the beauty of connecting with nature are Charlotte Smith and
William Wordsworth. Smith in her piece Written on the Banks of the Arun describes in a cold and
melancholy manner what she experiences near the Arun bank. Meanwhile, Wordsworth in his piece
Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey describes in a peaceful tone his feelings while
sitting near the Banks of the Wye. Both Smith and Wordsworth pieces contain similar underlying
meaning, symbolism, imagery, and setting.
First, the intention of Smith and Wordsworth are to emphasize the beauty of nature and the
pleasantness one feels when secluding themselves in the arms of Mother Nature. The natural scenery
give Smith comfort since she expresses that it allows her to be alone and simply contemplate life. The
bank of Arun in a sense is her safe haven because it permits her with the calming rise and fall of the
waves to also release unwanted thought and welcome new thoughts. Smith emphasizes her enjoyment
of the solitude she experiences when surround by nature. Similarly, Wordsworth explains that the only
thing keeping him sane while enclosed in the busy city was the memories of the landscape. Nature has
transformed his way of thought and has made him realize that it nature is connected to

Slavery In Haiti
Haiti, the second largest island in the Caribbean founded in 1749 surrounded by Dominican Republic,
Cuba, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Haiti has thrived and been replenished upon multiple occasions due
to hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires. Though Haiti sought independence as early as 1804, Haiti was
never truly independent. Haiti continues to endure much death, hardship, economic and social
problems while they struggle to establish and maintain a stable democratic government (Ngcheong
Lim, 2005 p 17).
Dating back to 1697 when the France and Spain divided Hispaniola in efforts to gain control. This
caused much chaos; the Haiti Revolution was a pivotal aspect demolishing slavery and it still affects
Haitians today from patterns established under the French colonial rule. While Haiti is considered a
developing country with many resources, it does not provide a sufficient standard of living for its
citizens causing them to migrant to other countries such as Cuba, United States of American, and
Dominican Republic.
The 2010 earth quake was a horrific event dismantling Haiti and leaving people without shelter, food,
and resources. Many Haitians migrated to Dominican Republic to obtain a better standard of living.
Those who stayed behind suffer substantially, and only wish that the development of Haiti could be ...

Graffiti has also existed back in the Roman Empire and Ancient Greek. During the time of the Catacombs of Rome, graffiti was known as inscriptions, figure drawing that were found on the walls of ancient sepulchers or ruins. The earliest forms of graffiti dated back to 30,000 BCE in the form of prehistoric cave paintings and pictographs using tools such as animal bones and pigments. During the late 60 s there was a great amount of names on buildings and walls throughout the city. Gang Graffiti merged its way through political slogans that reflected the social change of a nation. The peace sign was very common around college campuses as well. Black militancy was seen with spray painted messages of FREE HUEY and OFF THA PIG . Most neighborhoods in New York City known as barrios, there were Puerto Rican flags painted everywhere with the expression; VIVA PUERTO RICO LIBRE . Within the Washington Heights section of Manhattan new Graffiti writers started to evolve. In 1971 The New York Times published an article on one of these writers. TAKI 183 was the alias of a kid from Washington Heights. TAKI whose reals name is Demetrius and 183 was the number of the street where he lived. He was employed as a foot messenger, so he was on the subway frequently and took advantage of it by creating motion tags. The appearance of this unusual name and numeral sparked public curiosity prompting the Times article. He was by no means the first writer or even the first king. He was however the first to be recognized outside the newly formed subculture. Most widely credited as being one of the first writers of significance is JULIO 204. Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Ww1 Trenches Of the numerous strategies used throughout World War 1 and 2 those in WW2 proved more effective due to the standstill trench warfare brought, the ease with which trenches were defeated by tanks later in the war, and the speed and efficiency widespread mechanized warfare and blitzkrieg gave to armies in WW2. In throughout WW1, trenches were used quite liberally along the front lines. As a strategy to prevent advancement of the enemy s front lines trenches proved effective, however due to its widespread use by both sides it prevented nearly any progression in the war for periods of time. The stagnation it caused is a major reason why widespread use of the tactic was ineffectual. Dues to the long periods troops stayed in trenches, which were quite unsanitary and muddy soldiers often contracted infectious diseases or gangrene, pushing this tactic further into the reaches of inferior due to the harm it could cause one s own troops. ... The further advancement of tank technology following WW1 cemented trench warfare s ineffectuality and obsolescence, as the vast majority of tank s flaws were greatly improved. The invention, improvement, and proliferation of tanks not only rendered numerous WW1 strategies completely obsolete but gave rise to mechanized warfare. Mechanized warfare in its various forms proved quite effective One specific type such as the highly mechanized blitzkrieg, allowed the Nazis to very quickly and effectively overwhelm the defenses of nations during invasions prior to and early in the Second World War. • 5. Herodotus Histories As A Principle Source About Ancient... Herodotus Histories serves as a principle source about ancient Greece. However, within in it there is an added complexity of Herodotus own attitudes towards archaic tyrants versus what the actual attitudes of Archaic Greeks were. As for traditions, Archaic tyrants cannot be accurately confined to singular traits or patterns of operations. Lineages of tyrants, the Kypselids and Pisistratids, do not have an overarching flavor, the rulers vary. Additionally, singular rulers, such as Polycrates, have variations in their description. A key passage from Histories that best summarizes Herodotus attitudes towards tyranny is the beginning of Sosicles speech to the Spartans, who are considering reimplementing tyranny in Athens. This is like the turning of the universe upside down. Earth and sky will soon be changing places men will be living in the sea and fish on land, now that you Spartans are proposing to abolish popular government and restore despotism in the cities... . Sosicles believes tyranny is the most backward form of government to consider, when compared to popular government . He presents tyranny as being so unnatural, that implementing a tyrant would overturn the rest of natural order. Two hyperbolic statements earth and sky will soon be changing places and men will be living in the sea and fish on land , are examples of literal switching of places. They suggests that restoring despotism would be a reversal to something unnatural and that things are as they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was Easter Sunday and instead of waking up to a basket full of sugary treats; I spent my morning helping my drunk father sober up by making two pots of strong, black coffee. Taking care of Charlie was nothing out of the ordinary; my mother had died during childbirth so I learned early on how to cook, clean and even pay the occasional bill. Dealing with his growing bouts of inebriation, however, was something entirely unexpected and new. Charlie always drank the occasional beer while watching the game on Sundays, but his sudden habit of coming home plastered and even on some nights not coming home at all, had me concerned and confused. Am I making myself clear? My father s voice was stern and authoritative. He rarely spoke to me using that tone, so I knew he meant business; I nodded my head and put my jacket on as I followed him out the door. I found it peculiar when we took a taxi to the restaurant instead of Charlie s Toyota, but upon reflection, realized my father was still not coherent enough to drive. When we arrived and entered the lobby, Charlie pointed to a plush red velvet sofa that sat against the wall and told me to sit down and wait for his return. I was alone in the room so I took advantage of my isolation and meandered around, admiring the photographs that hung on the surrounding walls. They were of famous people who had eaten at the restaurant and signed pictures to commemorate their visits. It was apparent by the numerous photos; Volturi s was a celebrity hot spot. As I heard the noise of the crowd floating in from the adjoining room, I wondered if any celebrities were among the diners. My curiosity got the best of me and I foolishly decided to take a quick peek. I attempted to remain cool as I strolled casually into the room, but my shoe caught on the plush carpeting, causing me to lose my balance and topple straight into a table. REBT was one of the first types of cognitive therapies and was first called rational therapy. In 1959 the name was changed to Rational Emotive Therapy and did not get its current name, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, until 1992. REBT is based on believing that feeling upset is not caused by an event but rather our beliefs toward the event that upsets us. After the client explains what has happening they can then think about all the things they said to themselves, the B step. When this is all completed the client then can see and begin to understand their irrational thoughts. With the irrational thoughts laid out in front of the client, the therapist can begin asking questions like, are these thoughts true to the best of my knowledge? and does it help me to think like this. When these questions are answered some irrational thoughts should come to surface and those can be changed into rational thinking and therefore change thoughts from unhealthy to healthy, from irrational to rational. Once rational thoughts have been realized the therapist should challenge the client to begin examining their interpretation of negative events that occur in their life in hopes that rational thoughts occur rather than irrational ones. Because of the clear structure in the ABC model, REBT is a very effective therapy in many ways in that it is a short and effective form of therapy that can work well in individual sessions as well as group sessions. REBT is used in all aspects of therapy, in couples counseling, it is used to work out differences between the couple or at least become less troubled with them. Writers adopted a disjointed fragmented style of writing that rebelled against traditional literature. One such writer is William Faulkner, whose individual style is characterized by his use of stream of consciousness and writing from multiple points of view. World War I had a more profound effect on society than wars prior. With new deadly weapons, like poison gas, high death tolls, and the first occurrence of total war, shocked the world, tearing people between the modern and the tradition. It wasn t until a trip to New Orleans in 1925 that he began to fiddle with his writing style, after a friend encouraged him to write more Southern based prose. His style also grew as he began reading James Joyce, a high modernist writer, and Sigmund Freud, and also took a trip to Europe the center of modernist writing. With these influences, Faulkner began writing novels about Southern society, with an emphasis on the psychology of the characters. For example, in his novel The Sound and the Fury, Faulkner writes from four different points of view; the first three sections are of each of the three brother s point of view, and the last section is omniscient. His writing also plays with chronology, not always following a specific timeline. The disjointedness of time is very prominent in As I Lay Dying. Being humans, religious sects clash in debates, in the classroom, in our city halls, and on the battlefield. They only question what is different between their beliefs rather than question what may be extremely identical. Jesus, Krishna, Zoroaster, Dionysus, Mithra, and others were all birthed by the will of their respective god. They showed their holiness by performing unimaginable acts that seem like magic. They died and were resurrected to ascend to the heavens. That leaves the important question of what else is related. At this they were completely astonished (NIV). Dionysus was able to bring people back from the underworld like his mother, and Horus was able to bring his father Osiris back to life. Dionysus was the wine god who had enough power to make wine without water when Jesus could turn water to wine. A guard tried to prevent Zoroaster from entering the King s palace when he made a ball of fire and held it in his hand; consequently, the guard was amazed and let him pass. Introduction Ukraine made the news a lot in the past year, but for anything Ukraine discovered or made. In the past year the country has been in crisis due to the events that started off as a riot for Ukraine becoming a part of EU and leading to annexation of Crimea and war in east part of the country. Ukraine has been ruled by corrupt politicians and oligarchs and has been strongly influenced by Russia. These two countries always had close ties, because of their past as Soviets countries, they share a common language and are currently in pre war status right now (McMahon, 2014). This past year has been rough with crisis and has affected areas like: social, cultural and economic. Ukrainian government has failed its purpose to protect and make improvements in the best interest of the country, and now thousands of people lost their homes and thousands have died, with hundreds being killed directly at the request of former President Victor Yanukovych, who now has escaped and currently staying in Russia with a political support from their side (Babich, 2014). The question now is; with everything that s happening inside the country, should Russia be allowed to invade and destroy cities and squares, while the peace agreement and sanctions are attempting to stop this chaos? No, but the aid from countries like Germany and United States of America is not significant and influential enough to stop Russia from military ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. My Passion For Football Ever since I could walk, I can remember being involved in some kind of sport. Whether it was recreational or competitive, I wanted to be involved in it. As the years went on, my passion for athletics narrowed to one particular sport, football. What drew me to this particular sport are its three main characteristics: physicality, mental prowess, and the intangibles. These assets are required for not only a person, but a team to be successful. The physical aspect of the game of football separates those who are truly dedicated and motivated from those who aren t willing to sacrifice their body. That sacrifice doesn t just mean throwing my body into a collision. It entails the preparation, not just the performance. This takes place in the weightroom and on the practice field. There are days when lifting and conditioning aren t the most fun activity, just like going to school. The analytical aspect of football is the most crucial and unseen characteristic of the game. The last main characteristic, intangibles, can be described most accurately with the word passion. Passion is what fuels every effort towards success on the field. It is what gets me up early in the summer to workout, or to run and extra sprint when my body aches not to. Legal judgments have often been contradictory and on occasions have arrived at their conclusions without addressing all the pertinent issues. The second is for the costs associated with raising the resultant child. Whilst the costs associated with a child s upbringing are also foreseeable their award has posed a greater dilemma for the courts. A child resulting from a pregnancy arising from a doctor s lack of care would appear to have a tortious claim to such damages. The concept of compensating for a healthy child has led to moral and policy concerns. In the Canadian courts some years ago this matter was aired in Doiron v Orr the judge awarded damages for mental anguish related to the pregnancy but there would be no liability for the cost of bringing up an unsought child. A range of views has developed from never awarding damages, always doing so or doing so in a graded fashion by offsetting the benefits of parenthood with the economic costs. In an action for unwanted pregnancy in Udale v Bloomsbury Area Health Authority there was an award for pain and suffering along with loss of earnings following a negligently performed operation. However an award for the economic costs of bringing up a child was rejected. In his judgment Jupp J felt that the joy and love of a child should be set against economic loss. • 17. Book Report on Apology Essay Book Report on Apology In the Apology , Socrates tackles his accusers against certain accusations made against him in the Court of Law of Athens, Greece. The nature of the accusation that has caused him to stand trial is such that Socrates is an evil doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to others (Plato. The Republic and other plays. pg 449. Doubleday publishing; New York 1989). Also he rebuttals the charge of not believing in Gods while believing in higher divinities. The charge, he shows how ludicrous was indeed in nature since how can anyone believe in flute playing and not the flute player (Plato, pg 457). How can one believe in spiritual and divine agencies, and not in spirits or demigods? But ultimately Socrates defense is his self lessness. He attributes his deeds to his duty towards God. He makes it clear that the obligation to truth is far more closer to God than any other social one that is marked by malice. His poverty, his unchanging and impartial ways that he followed all his life to search for the truth and when having found it, give it to others without taking into consideration what the government in power would say or do about it in itself is an evidence and a virtue that rises above all others to prove him innocent. His defense is simple and artless because it is the truth, within which some more properties emerge. One of these can be identified as the simplicity of truth and the other is its universality. Truly, although several impugn Socrates of wrong doing and misguiding the youth, he was not the first or the last one tried on such a charge. This points to the nature of truth to be unchanging. Characteristics Of Machiavelli To be an efficient ruler they must possess the ability to project beast like attitude, with this correlated with this is the justification of a ruler for breaking his word, this idea only applies if doing otherwise will place a ruler at a disadvantage within his society. These two characteristics are inevitable and imperative to rulers if they hope to be successful. For a ruler, presentation is key to leading a successful society. They must learn to be Half man, half beast. Machiavelli points this out in The Prince through an allegory, Chiron is a centaur who was a teacher to other princes. He demonstrated the need for rulers to develop both characteristics, that of a man and beast. This idea is essential because Machiavelli thought of men by nature as deceptive liars, who would take advantage of a ruler and his power if they sensed a submissive attitude (P.54). This could be a consequence of not exhibiting that beast like quality, which could later place not only the ruler, but society as a whole at a disadvantage. Isaiah Berlin, author of the article A Special Supplement: The Question of Machiavelli , further justifies this concept by explaining: The pagan world that Machiavelli prefers is built on recognition of the need for systematic guile and force by rulers, and he seems to think it natural and not at all exceptional or morally agonizing that they should employ these weapons wherever they are needed (P.35). This article focuses on one of his highly appreciated work, Concept of Law 1961. The book analyses on the law, morality and fear or threat through which the author is attempting to classify the question as to whether the law can be conceptualized as the forceful orders or the moral commands. Prof. Hart is of the opinion that all laws need not be classified as coercive or moral commands, there need not be any logical connection between the Laws, and morality or between the laws and coercion. He is of the opinion that by classifying all laws as either moral commands or coercive orders will be misleading and mischaracterizing the purpose and function for which the law was originally created. Laws are made to curtail the actions of man, and to prohibit him from various kinds of actions. These are called duties which a person has to do as he is bound by the law to do it. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex mental capabilities. Background/Historical Context Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). • 33. Examples Of Social Hierarchy In Northanger Abbey By Jane Ayre Social hierarchy and the patriarchal society are explored in Jane Austen s novels. She shows us how society and class order affected women in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Men were deemed superior over women. There were many differences that reflect the members of a particular social class and gender modes of conduct, upbringing, manner, education, and morality. Austen shows the injustice of inheritance laws and the psychological vulnerability of the women in her novels. Northanger Abbey portrays the volatility of patriarchal power. Prejudice in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice The main theme of the Merchant of Venice is of Shylock, a Jew, and Antonio, a Christian taking part in a deal involving the Jew lending the Christian a sum of money. The bond they make is that if Antonio cannot pay Shylock back, Shylock can take legally a pound of Antonio s flesh as payment. The other plots in the play consist of Jessica, Shylock s daughter eloping with Lorenzo, another Christian and Antonio s friend Bassanio, who is courting a rich lady, Portia of Beaumont who are both of course Christian. CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION 1.1 Problem Background The Malawi financial scoping survey on micro, small, and medium enterprises (2012) shows that Malawi has close to 760, 000 small business owners generating annual revenue of about US$2billion, but 60 per cent of whom do not use financial services. The small business owners in Malawi are relatively young with an average age of 31 years, with 70 per cent of them having just primary education. The MSME sector creates employment for just over a million people. The 2012 MSME survey established that 59% of MSMEs were excluded from financial services, as opposed to 31% that are formally served by some sort of financial system, with the balance relying on informal services. Only 22% are banked. Over three quarters do not borrow funds, primarily because they doubt their ability to repay loans. Of those who borrow, informal credit systems tend to be the primary source of credit. The survey establishes that the smaller the business in terms of number of employees the less likely that the owner has or uses banking services to manage the finances of their business. In recognition of the role that SMEs play in the economy, the Government of Malawi has made the development of SMEs a priority MSME policy (2007). Small and medium enterprises play an important role in providing employment, improving people s livelihood and in the overall economy. It is therefore imperative that the MSMEs explore other cheaper means of finance e.g. equity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So writes Nick Carraway in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing himself in opposition to the great masses of humanity as a perfectly honest man. The honesty that Nick attributes to himself must be a nearly perfect one, by dint of both its rarity and its cardinal nature; Nick asserts for himself that he is among the most honest people he has ever encountered. • 39. Analysis Of The Death Of Venice By Thomas Mann Tadzio as an Illuminator In Thomas Mann s Death In Venice, Tadzio is likened to the sun and thus represents an illuminating force for knowing what is truly good and just and by consequence represents a higher truth. This quest for knowledge on what is good becomes apparent as Aschenbach becomes more and more infatuated with Tadzio, not in a romantic sense, but rather a sense of seeking what he believes is right, a platonic relationship which ultimately sparks Aschenbach s demise. Aschenbach s motives are somewhat muddled as he enters the second half of his life and seeks to find what is true. To do this he decides to take a vacation to Venice where he meets Tadzio. After being a rather stoic and cold person, this all melts away as he basks in Tadzio s presence as one would in the sun. Tadzio as a representation for light is why Aschenbach is so drawn to him, because he believes that the child could be the illuminating figure for him. While Tadzio himself is not the higher truth personified, he does act as the ray of light for seeing what Aschenbach s wants in his life, what he sought after since the beginning of the story. Examples of this relationship and its representations include how Tadzio is likened to Helios who is the sun giant in Greek mythology, the imagery associated with sun and Tadzio, such as Tadzio rising from the sea and how ever present he is in the environment around Aschenbach, how Tadzio is described as Aschenbach s Mirror and image suggesting that ... In this assignment I m going to talk about the structure of the main tissues which are found within the body as well as what their role is in the terms of two named organs of the body. Tissues are a collection of similar cells that group together to carry out a specific function within the body. There are four different types of tissue found in the human body which include; epithelial tissue; connective tissue; muscle tissue and nerve tissue. The first type of tissue found in the human body is epithelial tissue. These types of tissue are found covering the whole surface of the body, lining of cavities, hollow organs and tubes. Transitional epithelium is also composed of several layers but is constructive of pear shaped cells instead. This type of tissue is stretchy, meaning it can contract and expand. It is usually found lining the urinary bladder as it allows for stretching as the bladder fills up. The second type of tissue found in the body is connective tissue. They lie beneath the epithelial tissue helping to connect different part of the internal structure, the cells are more widely separated from each other then in epithelial tissue. The intercellular substance known as the matrix is found in considerably large amounts. Within the matrix there are usually fibres which may be a jelly like consistency or dense and rigid depending on the type, function and positioning of the tissue. Theses fibres form a supporting system for cells to attach to. The major functions of connective tissue are to transport materials, give structural support and protection. The types of connective tissue that will be explained are blood, bone, cartilage, bone, areolar tissue and adipose tissue. Blood is made up of straw coloured plasma, the matrix, in which various types of blood are carried. Through the poem, Tao Te Ching, I learned that the culture centuries ago believed that life happens to you and nothing you do can change it. Therefore, they preferred to sit back and accept their fate. In this poem, there are fundamentals that we still in modern times live by. For instance, we both believe family is the most important thing in our life. A quote from the poem that proves they held this value, In family life, be completely present (Mitchell 414). The main reason I needed to study that long was because of math and especially Calculus. Calculus took more than half of the math course and therefore was a crucial subject. Experiencing Korean Calculus course is not an experience most students here in Miami can have, so I would like to introduce what is what like, how it was different from MTH 151, and what I learned through the experience. First, to give a brief explanation about Korean Calculus, the material I learned was mostly the same to that of MTH 151, starting from limits to anti derivatives. However, Korean Calculus has more challenging problems than just calculations. Calculation problems are used to get a grip of the mathematical concepts, but the real problems are integrated questions. These are math questions that have mixtures of different math concepts, such as derivatives combined with matrix. In addition to the basic concepts, teachers teach advanced equations outside of textbooks that are useful when solving integrated problems and tips on solving specific hard questions that come up frequently in tests. The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing final audits of the company. Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. • 49. The Importance Of Voter Participation In Canada Elections are the most vital mechanism for a democracy since it is the role of the citizens to elect the representatives of their government. As one of the most established democracies, Canada had been experiencing decreasing participation in its elections. In 2008, voter turnout in Canada hit its lowest point at an average of 58.8%, keeping in mind that the average voter turnout in Canada has been 70.7% (Canada, 2017). Even though there may not be one coherent explanation, there are a few predictors that could justify the decline in Canada s voter turnout. Firstly, political interest is essential in motivating citizens to participate in politics, and the least informed citizens are the less motivated they are to participate. Secondly, personal barriers such as age, gender, race, language and socio economic status play a major role as a determinant for the participation in elections. Finally, Canada s current electoral process the system in which citizens use to cast their votes is a factor that may deter participants from voting because of its cited weaknesses. For instance, the current system has brought into question its lack of democracy and representation. Therefore, while participation in federal elections is essential to a functioning democracy, there has been a decline in voter turnout due to lack of political interest, personal barriers, and the electoral process. Smith in her piece Written on the Banks of the Arun describes in a cold and melancholy manner what she experiences near the Arun bank. Meanwhile, Wordsworth in his piece Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey describes in a peaceful tone his feelings while sitting near the Banks of the Wye. Both Smith and Wordsworth pieces contain similar underlying meaning, symbolism, imagery, and setting. First, the intention of Smith and Wordsworth are to emphasize the beauty of nature and the pleasantness one feels when secluding themselves in the arms of Mother Nature. The natural scenery give Smith comfort since she expresses that it allows her to be alone and simply contemplate life.
