An Intentional Infliction Of Emotional Distress
Question Presented Does Samuel Taylor, the former member of the Local 718 Teamsters Union,
have a cause of action against Ronald Murray, Local 718 business representative, who repeatedly
harassed Taylor for about four months and intentionally inflicted emotional distress which resulted
in Taylor s loss of twenty pounds, extreme nervousness, loss of his union membership and his job?
Brief Answer Probably yes. Under Massachusetts law, a plaintiff has a claim for an intentional
infliction of emotional distressif all of the following elements are satisfied: (1) the defendant
intended, knew or reasonably have known that his conduct will result in the emotional distress;
(2) the defendant s conduct was extreme and outrageous, beyond all possible limits of decency
and utterly intolerable in a civilized community; (3) the defendant s conduct is the cause of the
plaintiff s distress; and (4) the plaintiff s emotional agitation was so severe and of a nature that no
reasonable person could withstand. Here, Murray intended to inflict emotional distress by
harassing Taylor so he would cooperate with the union, it was of extreme and outrageous manner,
when he threatened Taylor s and his wife s life, and caused the emotional agitation so severe,
which no person could be reasonably expected to endure, and as a result, Taylor withdrew his
membership, quit his job,

Elements Of Christianity And Moganism In Beowulf
Beowulf, an Anglo Saxon literary work, encompasses elements of both Christianity and paganism.
Originally a polytheist group, the Anglo Saxons began to embrace monotheism after learning about
Christianity. Although they embraced monotheism, elements of paganism and polytheism still
lingered in their society as they tried to adapt to their new belief. A combination of Christianityand
paganism in Beowulfis the result of the unknown poet s view of the change in beliefs in Anglo
Saxon society. Regarding the poet, Mr. H. L. Rogers states, The past fascinated him, but his faith
told him that Godruled over the race of men in those days, as He still does (22). Many think that
Beowulf is a pagan poem because of its references to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Satan, an outcast also, can never approach God s throne room either. Only someone who is worthy
and righteous can approach the throne room; and because of their actions, Satan and Grendel are
not worthy of it. Like Satan, Grendel is an enemy of both God and men.
Christian elements are displayed through Beowulf s prayer and decision to fight Grendel
weaponless. When Beowulf comes to Heorot to defeat Grendel, he tells Hrothgar that he is not
afraid of Grendel and that whichever one death fells/ must deem it a just judgment by God
(Beowulf Poet, 440 1). Additionally, before the fight with Grendel, the poet skillfully inserts,
And the Geat placed complete trust/ in his strength of limb and the Lord s favor (669 70).
Beowulf s specific mention of the Lord and the Lord s favor indicates that Beowulf is a believer
in God as opposed to polytheism (Rogers 347). However, the poet s ambiguous description of
whether Beowulf is a Christian or a pagan can be attributed to his need of safety in a changing
Anglo Saxon society where he could not, without grave risk of incongruity apparent to both poet
and audience, be represented too dogmatically as a practicing and believing Christian (Rogers
347). As Beowulf prepares to fight Grendel, he decides not to use weapons and proudly exclaims
twice that May the Divine Lord/ in His wisdom grant the glory of victory/ to whichever side He
sees fit

The Transformation of Hal in Shakespeare s Henry IV Essay
The Transformation of Hal in Henry IV
In Shakespeare s Henry IV, the character Hal, the Prince of Wales,
undergoes a transformation that can be characterized as a redemption.
Shakespeare introduces Hal, in the opening act as a renegade of the Court. His
avoidance of all public responsibility and his affinity for the company of the
Boar s Head Tavern, have caused serious concern for the King, because Hal is
heir to the throne. The King realizes that to keep order, a ruler and his heir
must prove to be both responsible and honorable; from the outset Hal possesses
neither quality. The King even testifies to his own advisor, that he would have
rather traded Hal for Hotspur, the son of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a plea to his father, Hal
vows that he will redeem his tarnished identity at the expense of Hotspur,
saying I will redeem all of this on Percy s head, (3.2.137). However, the
act of redemption does not only occur as the result of realization and
motivation. Redemption needs for these ideas to be put into action. At the end
of Act 5.4, using his realization and motivation as a basis for his actions, Hal
consummates his transformation, by physically saving his father from Douglas
and defeating Hotspur in a single combat at the Battle of Shrewsbury. Thus, the
Prince of Waleshas performed, what he had originally promised to do in his
opening soliloquy, to redeem his reputation. The phases of, realization,
motivation and action, mark important facets in Hal s transformation. However,
Hal s redemption occurs only as the product of all three phases, and as a result,
it causes a significant change in the character of the Prince.
The first phase of Hal s transformation is marked by realization. Hal
realizes that his life of truancy must end. This realization in turn, provides
him with a basis for redemption, which is marked by Hal s soliloquy at the end
of Act 1.2. However, Hal s soliloquy is not the result of a striking
realization. Rather, it is apparent that Hal has given much thought to his

Sebastian has already made the soup part, we have to just chop up the vegetables and put it in
the pot. Oy, Lily, what vegetables do we need for this again? Baldroy asked, scratching the back

cabbage, celery, onions, and green beans. It s really healthy and delicious once we get it done..
Baldroy just looked at me with a dumbfounded face. Wha, we need all that?! Can t we just use a
flamethrower? It probably works the same way without vegetables. I mentally sighed. Bard was
being an idiot. Can you get them from the cellar please? I asked, ignoring his previous statement.

Becoming An Oral Surgeon
As a surgeon you have to have a controlled arrogance. If it s uncontrolled, you kill people, but you
have to be pretty arrogant to saw through a person s chest, take out their heart and believe you
can fix it. Then, when you succeed and the patient survives, you pray, because it s only by the
grace of God that you get there. Mehmet Oz. One never considers themselves able to accomplish
something great until they meet someone great who has already acquired insight of the world
from the other side, the side where all of the talented men dwell. A young girl does not grow up

the walls of her small town. I had already had my fair share of adventure, having more surgeries
than my mother had by the time I was three months old. I had what specialists call Van der
Woude Syndrome. Basically, I was the 1 in 100,000 babies in the world who happened to have
this genetic disorder. A key characteristic of Van der Woude Syndrome is a cleft lip. With that
being said, I had many surgeons in my lifetime, but one man stuck out. Maybe it was because it
was one of the biggest surgeries I had, or maybe, just maybe it was because God had put him in
my path to inspire me for greatness. I cannot honestly say that I remember the first time I met Dr.

Essay On Latino American Discrimination
Latino American Discrimination Have you ever given mind to why it is important for us as
human beings to protect one another and to share the same rights we have. Furthermore,
receiving fair share of pay in jobs or labor from working the same hours as to a white or black
person. Finally, to feel that as human beings that have the right to live away of their countries
without being segregated, discriminated or even ignored from public needs. Well, in this paper I
will talk about the whole process of the discrimination and some of my personal experiences with
the topic. Latin culture is a growing number in the U.S.A. from the past to our modern era. Most of
the U.S.A. is inhabited by Latino families, such as, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Costa Ricans, and
Mexicans. Over seventeen percent of people living in the United Statesare Hispanic and Latin based
families. These families are found in all states, but mainly reside in Florida, Texas, Arizona, or
even New Mexico. However, there is a slight problem in our modern day life and it is
discrimination of Hispanics and Latino Americans. Hispanic families and Latino families are

action and stop this discrimination toward my fellow Latinos by demanding Latino American
civil rights from the White House as so did Martin Luther King Jr. Also try to spread the word of

I would express to him the benefits of receiving the needed nutrients through food. Obtaining
nutrients through a healthy diet is always going to be the best option.
3. Why does Brian have trouble sleeping, especially when he restricts his diet?
There are a few different reasons to why Brian could be having trouble sleeping based on his
diet. One of the reasons could be that because he consumes so many calories on some days that
because he s so full he may be suffering from heartburn, uncomfortably full or sleep apnea. When
Brian fasts he is not taking in any carbohydrates that is one of the main cofactors, which helps
tryptophan and serotonin, reach the brain. These two hormones are responsible for help an

The Replacement And Fortification Of Micronutrients
The replacement and fortification of micronutrients in Milo, an iconic Kiwi drink, has gotten
people increasingly interested in the fortification of food products. The fortification of foods is
when the manufacturer or government has decided to add vitamins and micronutrients that humans
benefit from. This includes things such as iron, which helps you metabolize proteins for creating
red blood cells and haemoglobin, helping us stay alive. There are ongoing discussions and debates
on this topic, whether it is good or bad to fortify products. People who consume fortified foods are
presumably benefiting from these products rather than a pure source. Governments can mandate or
make fortification voluntary, but the manufacturers can do so if they feel they need to.

All Saints Day in Guatemala
All Saints Day, which is celebrated in Guatemala, is a day of celebrating loved ones who have
died. This day, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, originated in Mexico centuries ago. 1
It is a day of joy and not of sorrow. This is the when people pray for help from the saints who
have passed on. They also pray that those who have died without becoming saints will become
saints. Fancy decorations, food, and fun are all joined together to help celebrate this day in
Guatemala. The home is one of the places that is beautifully decorated. An alter is set up with
pictures of their loved ones, candles, flowers, bread, fruit, atole and aguardiente. Atole is a drink
that is made of corn flour and water; while aguardiente is liquor made from sugar cane. The
people continue their rituals and before dawn they place flowers above the doors of their home
to welcome the spirits of their deceased loved ones.2 This adds to the beautiful decor of the
home. Next, comes the decorations at the grave side. People clean the tomb stones, paint them,
and then decorate them with many colorful flowers. Flowers like lilies, chrysanthemums, and
flor de muerto (a strong marigold) are used to decorate.3 At the tops of the graves are placed
wax paper wreaths.4 The cemeteries on this day turn into a massive color display. After the
wreaths are placed, it is time to eat.5 The families have picnics there in the cemeteries by the

The Nature Of Beauty And The Balance Of Life
I stroll through the low lying grass and hear the rushing of the water down the rocks. The sun
glistens on the river following the waterfall. This impeccable beauty of the sun on the water
reminds me how to live my life. Like the water, and the things within it, I should follow the
natural flow. By doing this, beauty will behold me. For if I resist the flow of life it would be like
paddling up stream, which is a task no one enjoys. I must let everything happen and offer no
resistance, then, like the water, the sunwill shine upon me and I will have lived a beautiful and
fulfilling life. As I sit on a rock at the bank of the river I look around and see that everything is
starting bloom. It is spring and the trees are beginning to sprout flowers. The grass is poking out
of the ground with its vibrant green color, and the animals are all coming out to play. Soon enough
all of this will change when autumn comes. This change is the elegance of life; mono no aware.

Robert Frost Metaphors
Robert Frost is a poet who typically writes poems of saddened tone with losses being a
significantly recurring motif. After seeing his wife and four children die before him for various
reasons and unsuccessfully attempting several endeavors, Frost lived this life of depression, which
he translated into many of his poems such as Goodbye and Keep Cold, Dust of Snow, Oven Bird,
and Nothing Gold Can Stay. Throughout his poems, Frost utilizes various rhetorical strategies, such
as metaphors and allusions to present the theme that one must learn to treasure his or her valuables
and loved ones while they still exist. Outside of his poetry, Frost had a profound passion for

When an orchard is located near the outskirts of a large farm property, the farmer probably does
not preserve it as proficiently as he or she would with the trees closer to the heart of the farm.
The speaker s orchard lies at the edge of the dark... so young in the bark... at the end of the farm
(1,2,4). The physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has
forgotten or rejected the orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer
puts it in his critical essay, On Goodbye and Keep Cold. Furthermore, the statement at the edge
of the dark implies that the speaker is interacting with the orchard late at night when it is dark
and cold as if he or she had other important business outside of the orchard during the day; the
speaker waited for a later time to deal with the orchard. With that being said, Frost wants his
readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an orchard which provides fruit for those
living in the farm out in the distance. This relates to Frost s theme that one must learn to treasure
his or her belongings while they still exist. If the speaker continues to reject the orchard, the
orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also pertains to Frost s extended
metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. Out of experience, Frost indirectly informs his
readers that it is wise for one to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones as they still

Property Rights And The Rights
1.0Introduction
Property rights and the right to own a property is a basic human right. Article 17.1 of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that Everyone has the right to own property alone
as well as in association with others and that No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property .
The need for property rights due to the complexity of property is highly important and because of
this the Torrens system was created.
1.1 Aim of Report
The aim of the report is to satisfy the requirements outlined by the assignment brief, to gain a
thorough understanding of the need for property rights and the Torrens TitleSystem. Whilst

The evidence of ownership is the issue of a Certificate of Title containing the name of the owners of
the property. The certificate of title which can be found when conducting a title search provides
proof of ownership, property information and any rights to the land. For example, mortgages,
easements, encumbrances (if any) would be on the certificate of title.
2.1 History of Torrens Title System
Before the creation of the Torrens Title System, purchasing and selling land was overly
complicated and the ownership would have to be proven through providing a collection of deeds
clearly stating the history of ownership and both the buyer and seller would have to check
ownership. The Torrens Title System was introduced on January 27, 1858. Alongside many
contributors, Sir Robert Richard a politician in South Australia at the time, helped create and
establish the system as a result of necessity. The necessity sprung as result of the need for land
reform in South Australia as the then title system was deemed well below a satisfactory standard.
2.2 Wide Spread Adoption
Since its introduction and adoption in Australia, it has led to influencing many Nations around the
world and has been introduced in New Zealand, Canada, Africa and some states in the USA. The
basic principles of the system have also been utilised in other systems around the world, England,
Israel, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand

The Influence of TV Advertisements on the Buying Behavior...
Introduction Advertisements are cost effective ways to disseminate messages with a view to
build a brand preference or to educate people (Kotler Keller, 2006). The majority of the

generally acknowledged as the most powerful advertising medium. The wide reach translates to
low cost per exposure (Kotler Keller, 2006). Over a longer period of time, the TV set has become

regarding fashion awareness among rural and urban respondents. With the population of over one
billion, India is on the threshold of becoming one of the world s foremost consumer markets. About
a quarter of this huge mass of consumers is urbanized and about three quarter are rural (Sehrawet
Kundu, 2007). Most South Asian respondents consider advertisements pleasurable, informative and
economically beneficial (Ramaprasad, 2001). One can attribute positive attitude to India being an
emerging market where anything new is fit for consumption (Saxena, 2005). Rising per capita
income, increasing expenditure, shift from lower to middle and middle to upper income group,
changing lifestyle, changing consumption pattern, and changing aspirations are the new features
of the Indian rural market (Bijapurkar, 2000). The total market size of rural is 1,23,000 crore which

URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the global address of documents and other resources on the
World Wide Web. A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) (commonly informally referred to as a web
address, although the term is not defined identically is a reference to a web resource that specifies
its location on a computer network and a mechanism for retrieving it. A URL is a specific type of
Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), although many people use interchangeably. An Internetaddress
usually consisting of the access protocol (http), the domain name(hmhbooks.com), and optionally
the path to a file or resource residing on the server where the domain name resides .
Parts of URL:
A URL is comprised of four parts. Using http://www.motive.co.nz/about/index.html as an example:
1.protocol: http://
2.domain or machine name: www.motive.co.nz
3.directory path: /about/
4.file name: index.html
The first portion (not technically part of the URL) identifies the protocol (http). This portion can
specify other protocols such as https (secure http), ftp, and so on.
The Host portion identifies the machine that runs the Web server and Web server application.
Although it is not shown in the preceding picture, this portion can override the port that receives
messages. Usually, there is no need to specify a port, because the port number is implied by the
protocol.
The Script Name portion specifies the name of the Web server application. This is the application
to which the Web server passes

Peter Elbow s The Doubting Game And Believing Game
In Peter Elbow s essay The Doubting Game and Believing Game he discusses the two types of
games that an individual can use to look for the truth in a situation. The Doubting game, is when
an individual believes everything is false, and prove each assertion wrong, and the Believing
game, is the process where an individual believes that all assertions are correct, and go over each
one separately. With both games, there are certain rules that must be followed.
Taking a look at the doubting game, Elbow writes that in order to doubt well, it helps if you make a
special effort to extricate yourself from the assertions.. (Lines 12 and 13). Additionally, placing the
assertions against one another, letting them work against each other for the pursuit ... Show more

Alexander the Great administration
Alexander governs his administration using techniques of Macedonian and Persian s. The Persian
satrap in Asia enabled Alexander to govern a large amount of territory. In India, he replaced hostile
rulers with rulers loyal to him and increased their territory. He used the Macedonia practice of
founding cities to encourage loyalty with the natives. While he allowed the Persians and Indians to
move up in his administration, he primarily used Macedonians.
Alexander took the throne of Macedonia after the assassination of his father. To secure his position
as King, he moved quickly to establish himself. Upon Philip s death, he had not settled the Greek

Asclepiodorus collected the taxes (Arr. 3.16.4). To cover all possibilities Alexander left Nicias and
Amphipolitan with garrisons. (B174) The garrisons were Alexander s watchdogs and looked out
for Macedonian interest. In this he created a checks and balances system. Alexander showed that
qualified Persians were able to compete with his Macedonians for leading positions in his
administration in Asia.
Alexander changed his standard approach to the organization of his administration in Egypt.
Alexander did not follow the Persian system. Rather, he divided the territory into four sections
watering down its concentration of power. The division between civil and military was to provide
security and prevent any one person from using the mass wealth to challenge his empire.

contains a direct link to Dong Mo Koo s study in which attitudes are created through in store

money spent by the consumer. In this study the research is conducted when consumers have

shopping experience will take precedence to emotions prior to entering the store and it is these
emotions during the shopping experience that influence time and money spent in store. The study

presents and actual link between consumers emotions influencing consumer purchasing rather than
attitudes and intentions. 3. Rankings for Image and Personality: Each of the Coles and Woolworths

The breaking point of Scobie starting to feel overly compassionate about Louise seems to be the
death of their daughter Catherine; ever since, he is not able to love anybody else, only through
pity. It is very likely that he once truly loved Louise but throughout the book, his only feeling
towards her is pity love, a term used by Greene himself, and the exceptional feeling of
responsibility for her happiness. Louise said, I ve known it for years. You don t love me. ...
That s your conscience, she said, your sense of duty. You ve never loved anyone since Catherine

It is evident he feels it his duty to make his wife happy, yet not out of love, but out of pity. His
feeling of pity then becomes extended to another woman, with whom he begins an adulterous
affair. As opposed to most literary characters, Scobie s becoming an adulterer is not brought
about by sexuality or a love of beauty. But rather it is the result of a sense of pity and
responsibility that he feels towards the helpless victims (Keerthi 124). Scobie himself does not
seem to be an overtly sexual character; he blames this on his age but it seems as though pity has
replaced any other feelings he might have ever been capable of feeling towards another human
being. During an intimate moment with Helen, he notes: He was more than thirty years older: his
body in this climate had lost the sense of lust: he watched her with sadness and affection and
enormous pity (Greene 151 2). This feeling of pity loves , that he feels for both Louise and Helen
equally, makes him certain that either of them would be doomed to eternal loneliness without him,
hence he continues to provide them both with this pity love, which simultaneously makes him

Sarah Penn Essay
Q2) Characterize Sarah Peen based upon how she is described. What adjectives would you use
to describe her? What activities help to reveal her role as a nineteenth century woman? Sarah
Penn plays the role of a classic mother and wife during the nineteenth century. Sarah was a small
woman, short and straight waisted like a child in her brown cotton gown. Her forehead was mild
and benevolent between the smooth curves of gray hair; there were meek downward lines
about her nose and mouth; but her eyes, fixed upon the old man, looked as if fthe meekness has

Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound
In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why
this is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school
of traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools
within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are
state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set
specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and
mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which
mainstream schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound
as restricted in character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these
schools following particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend
these schools. The second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will
address, is that most often teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to
teach the diversity of disabilities due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results
in more efforts needing to be made to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common
disabilities and special needs in the context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing
impairments, physical and

Cockroach
The discarded skin becomes airborne and can cause severe asthmatic reactions, particularly to
children, the elderly and people with bronchial ailments. The cockroach begins as an egg: The
female produces an egg sac which she carries or deposits in a safe place. The young cockroach or
nymph will undergo a series of molts, shedding it s external skeleton, as it grows to adulthood. The
entire life cycle may extend to a few months depending on the species and environmental factors,
such as, access to food and moisture, adequate shelter and warm temperatures. Even the cleanest

The presence of cockroaches is often detected by their damage, smell or by the fecal matter
(called frass ) they deposit. These are clues which can aid in diagnosing a cockroach problem.
Cockroaches may use such things as glue or paste (especially from animal based materials),
starch and certain color dyes as foods. As a result, items such as stamps, envelopes, bindings of
older books, draperies and occasionally wallpapers may show signs of feeding. The size of the
mandible marks and the apparent degree of vigor with which they feed are indications of the type
of roach which did the damage. The size and shape of fecal droppings are also clues to the
cockroach species involved.
The most important aspect of cockroach damage derives from their habit of feeding and
harboring in damp and unsanitary places such as sewers, garbage disposals, kitchens,
bathrooms, and storage areas indoors. Filth from these sources is spread by the cockroaches to
food supplies, food preparation surfaces, dishes, utensils, and other surfaces. Far more food is
contaminated by cockroaches than they are able to eat. Diseases transmitted as a result of these
habits were discussed earlier. These same habits are why people are so disgusted and repulsed by
the mere presence of cockroaches. For many people, personal disgust and the social stigma
attached to cockroaches produce a complete lack of tolerance for any cockroaches in their home or
elsewhere.

Dendrite Vs Neuron
In our human brains, there are about one billion nerve cells, called neurons. They transport
information from one part of the brain to the other part of the brain. Which mean neurons are
passing signals to other neurons. Because of this system, we are able to have thoughts, memories
and moods. Neurons have numerous branches, called dendrite. There are branching like fibers
helps to receive information and pass it to other cells. Then on to the axon. Comparing to dendrite,
axon is a lot longer and it takes the information away from the cell body. Each neuronhas only one

Literature Review
Piaget Cognitive Constructivism Piaget s main focus of constructivism has to do with the person
and how they construct their knowledge. Piaget believed individuals must adapt to their
environment, and develops as parts of the adaptation process to the environment. According to
Piaget, the individual needs to understand the information that they are receiving in order to be able
to use it; they must construct their own knowledge (Powell, 2009). For Piaget, language
development is internal mental processes controlled by developmental processes and is done
individually, without the interventions of others (Agbenyega, 2009). As a result of mastering one
stage, children will be ready to move, learn, and develop according to the expectations of the next
stage. In regards to language development Piaget sees language as part of the cognitive
development. How children think determines when and what the child can speak. In addition
Piaget, states that children s talking abilities emerge naturally without any formal teaching by
adults, however more sophisticated vocabulary require formal education and experiences with the
language. During early stages of the development according to Piaget, words are related to schemas
of actions related to the child and those schemas will later be incorporated into exiting schemas that
will support future learning experiences. Through the process of assimilation and accommodation,

The Ten Design Principles Of Good Design
For manufactured products to be successful, they must accomplish several crucial points. These
points are highlighted in the belief system founded by Dieter Rams known as the ten design
principles of good design. Beginning at the drawing board, it is vital that designers keep all of
these aspects and margins in mind while developing their product. Brita, a company that focuses
on water filtration products, is one of the few corporations that satisfy almost all of Ram s
commandments. In particular, the Brita Sport Water Bottle follows his famous design doctrine
especially well. These design concepts contribute to all of the product s successes throughout
the years. Brita, a company that has lasted for over 40 years, has a history equipped with many
successes that have contributed to their growth. The business was founded in 1966 by Heinz
Hankammer in Germany with a clear vision in mind. His vision was a world where drinking
clean water can continuously available to everyone who seeks it (Brita, 2016). They have come
a long way since their founding in the late 60s. Not only do they sell filters but they have
progressed to the sale of faucet systems, filtered pitchers, dispensers and water bottles. Throughout
the years, the company has kept the founder s family in positions of power to ensure that their
vision is fulfilled. In fact, Hankammer s son Markus Hankammer is the company s managing
director (Brita, 2016). For the past 50 years, the business has created a brand for

Cartier is also known for giving Canada its name. He heard to guides saying Kanata, meaning
village, so by the 1550s the name Canada began appearing on maps. In 1583, Sir Humphrey Gilbert
claimed Newfoundland as the first North American English Colony under Queen Elizabeth I. In the
1700s, France and Great British fought for control of North America. In 1759, the British won and
renamed the colony the Province of Quebec. The British passed the Quebec Act of 1774, which
allowed Catholics to hold public office and worship publicly. This was not yet passed in mainland
Britain. This law also brought back French civil law and established British criminal law. The
United States tried to conquer Canada in 1812 through 1814. The US lost the battle and never
tried again. During World War 1, over six hundred thousand Canadians served. In April 1917, the
Canadian Corps captured Vimy Ridge in France and earned the reputation as shock troops of the
British Empire. By the end of the war, sixty thousand were killed and a hundred and seventy
thousand wounded. In 1916, Manitoba was the first province to allow women to vote. In 1918,
all women were allowed to vote in federal elections. In 1921, Frederick Banting made a world
changing discovery by finding insulin. Insulin has since been used to treat diabetes. He won the
Nobel Prize in 1923 for his discovery. The Great Depression, or Dirty Thirties , hit Canada hard.
This brought the need for minimum wage and a standard work week.

The Lewis And Clark Trail
In 1803, U.S. President Thomas Jefferson commissioned an expedition under the leadership of
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the American Northwest. Together, they led the
Corps of Discovery, which included men from a myriad of professions, including interpreters,
fur trappers, boat builders, gunsmiths, and surveyors. Meriwether Lewis, captain of the
expedition, had been trained prior to the expedition by the country best scientists in the fields of
botany, zoology, celestial navigation, and medicine. William Clark was elected commander in
chief because of his invaluable cartography skills, which were essential on trip. His skills helped
with mapping most of landmarks and rivers that were encountered on the expedition, and his final
map of the Lewis and Clark Trail is accurate within 40 miles and spans a distance of 8,000 miles.
Another prominent figure on the expedition was Sacagawea. She spoke Shoshone, Hidatsa, meager
French, had knowledge of edible medicinal plants as well as Native American customs, and was an
invaluable interpreter that bargained for resources from other Native American tribes. Her most
important contribution to expedition, however, was her presence, a symbol to native tribes of the
peacefulness of the traveling party. The expedition was launched for political, strategic, scientific,
and commercial aims, instead of seeking riches and Christian converts, as other expeditions in the
past have always vied, such as those commissioned by the

Under Massachusetts law, a plaintiff has a claim for an intentional infliction of emotional distressif all of the following elements are satisfied: (1) the defendant intended, knew or reasonably have known that his conduct will result in the emotional distress; (2) the defendant s conduct was extreme and outrageous, beyond all possible limits of decency and utterly intolerable in a civilized community; (3) the defendant s conduct is the cause of the plaintiff s distress; and (4) the plaintiff s emotional agitation was so severe and of a nature that no reasonable person could withstand. • 4. Elements Of Christianity And Moganism In Beowulf Beowulf, an Anglo Saxon literary work, encompasses elements of both Christianity and paganism. Originally a polytheist group, the Anglo Saxons began to embrace monotheism after learning about Christianity. Although they embraced monotheism, elements of paganism and polytheism still lingered in their society as they tried to adapt to their new belief. A combination of Christianityand paganism in Beowulfis the result of the unknown poet s view of the change in beliefs in Anglo Saxon society. Regarding the poet, Mr. H. L. Rogers states, The past fascinated him, but his faith told him that Godruled over the race of men in those days, as He still does (22). Only someone who is worthy and righteous can approach the throne room; and because of their actions, Satan and Grendel are not worthy of it. Like Satan, Grendel is an enemy of both God and men. Christian elements are displayed through Beowulf s prayer and decision to fight Grendel weaponless. When Beowulf comes to Heorot to defeat Grendel, he tells Hrothgar that he is not afraid of Grendel and that whichever one death fells/ must deem it a just judgment by God (Beowulf Poet, 440 1). Additionally, before the fight with Grendel, the poet skillfully inserts, And the Geat placed complete trust/ in his strength of limb and the Lord s favor (669 70). Beowulf s specific mention of the Lord and the Lord s favor indicates that Beowulf is a believer in God as opposed to polytheism (Rogers 347). However, the poet s ambiguous description of whether Beowulf is a Christian or a pagan can be attributed to his need of safety in a changing Anglo Saxon society where he could not, without grave risk of incongruity apparent to both poet and audience, be represented too dogmatically as a practicing and believing Christian (Rogers 347). As Beowulf prepares to fight Grendel, he decides not to use weapons and proudly exclaims twice that May the Divine Lord/ in His wisdom grant the glory of victory/ to whichever side He sees fit ... The Transformation of Hal in Shakespeare s Henry IV Essay The Transformation of Hal in Henry IV In Shakespeare s Henry IV, the character Hal, the Prince of Wales, undergoes a transformation that can be characterized as a redemption. His avoidance of all public responsibility and his affinity for the company of the Boar s Head Tavern, have caused serious concern for the King, because Hal is heir to the throne. At the end of Act 5.4, using his realization and motivation as a basis for his actions, Hal consummates his transformation, by physically saving his father from Douglas and defeating Hotspur in a single combat at the Battle of Shrewsbury. The physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has forgotten or rejected the orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer puts it in his critical essay, On Goodbye and Keep Cold. With that being said, Frost wants his readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an orchard which provides fruit for those living in the farm out in the distance. If the speaker continues to reject the orchard, the orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also pertains to Frost s extended metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. It also contains a direct link to Dong Mo Koo s study in which attitudes are created through in store activities and have a direct correlation to consumer satisfaction and store loyalty. Alain d Astous and Melanie Levesque s study reviews the pleasantness of the store to be directly related to time and money spent by the consumer. In this study the research is conducted when consumers have already entered the store and measures the consumer s emotional responses against their time and money spent. The study s main argument for this methodology is that emotions during the shopping experience will take precedence to emotions prior to entering the store and it is these emotions during the shopping experience that influence time and money spent in store. Louise said, I ve known it for years. You don t love me. ... That s your conscience, she said, your sense of duty. You ve never loved anyone since Catherine died (Greene 57). It is evident he feels it his duty to make his wife happy, yet not out of love, but out of pity. His feeling of pity then becomes extended to another woman, with whom he begins an adulterous affair. As opposed to most literary characters, Scobie s becoming an adulterer is not brought about by sexuality or a love of beauty. But rather it is the result of a sense of pity and responsibility that he feels towards the helpless victims (Keerthi 124). Scobie himself does not seem to be an overtly sexual character; he blames this on his age but it seems as though pity has replaced any other feelings he might have ever been capable of feeling towards another human being. During an intimate moment with Helen, he notes: He was more than thirty years older: his body in this climate had lost the sense of lust: he watched her with sadness and affection and enormous pity (Greene 151 2). This feeling of pity loves , that he feels for both Louise and Helen equally, makes him certain that either of them would be doomed to eternal loneliness without him, hence he continues to provide them both with this pity love, which simultaneously makes him remain in ... What activities help to reveal her role as a nineteenth century woman? Sarah Penn plays the role of a classic mother and wife during the nineteenth century. Sarah was a small woman, short and straight waisted like a child in her brown cotton gown. Her forehead was mild and benevolent between the smooth curves of gray hair; there were meek downward lines about her nose and mouth; but her eyes, fixed upon the old man, looked as if fthe meekness has been the result of her own will, never of the will of another (Freeman 308). • 32. Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why this is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school of traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound as restricted in character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these schools following particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend these schools. The second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will address, is that most often teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to teach the diversity of disabilities due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results in more efforts needing to be made to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common disabilities and special needs in the context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing impairments, physical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presence of cockroaches is often detected by their damage, smell or by the fecal matter (called frass ) they deposit. These are clues which can aid in diagnosing a cockroach problem. Cockroaches may use such things as glue or paste (especially from animal based materials), starch and certain color dyes as foods. As a result, items such as stamps, envelopes, bindings of older books, draperies and occasionally wallpapers may show signs of feeding. The size of the mandible marks and the apparent degree of vigor with which they feed are indications of the type of roach which did the damage. The size and shape of fecal droppings are also clues to the cockroach species involved. The most important aspect of cockroach damage derives from their habit of feeding and harboring in damp and unsanitary places such as sewers, garbage disposals, kitchens, bathrooms, and storage areas indoors. Filth from these sources is spread by the cockroaches to food supplies, food preparation surfaces, dishes, utensils, and other surfaces. Far more food is contaminated by cockroaches than they are able to eat. Diseases transmitted as a result of these habits were discussed earlier. These same habits are why people are so disgusted and repulsed by the mere presence of cockroaches. For many people, personal disgust and the social stigma attached to cockroaches produce a complete lack of tolerance for any cockroaches in their home or elsewhere. ...
