Jerry Sandusky Case Study
For over thirty years Gerald Jerry Sandusky abused the trust of the residents of Happy Valley,
Pennsylvania. For over thirty years Jerry Sandusky robbed, traumatized, and manipulated over half
a dozen innocent boys. And in those thirty years numerous individuals knew and remained silence,
and watched Jerry violate these children. Jerry used his organization, second mile, as a shield to
lure in his victims, showered them with gifts, attention and special trips to Penn State esteemed
football facility. On those trips, numerous times concluded with inappropriate molestation and
even penetration. Protected by the fame and success of Penn State s football team Sandusky s
crime were thrown under the rug for decades. Numerous officials discrediting victims and
witnesses and the school handing out settlements like candy to keep it out of the media. Just in
2013 Penn State paid 26 Sandusky victims a $60 million settlement. With the shield of the football
program, coaches, school administrators and local law enforcement Sandusky was able to
continue his grotesque deeds. Until the two year grand jury investigation which concluded with
the indictment on 52 charges of child molestation in 2011 that led to the arrest of Sandusky.
Sandusky charges were eventually dropped to 48 and cover a period of 15 years from 1994 to
2009. Although there were earlier incidents that were discredited and due to statute of limitations,
Sandusky eluded those charges. According to a NY Times article

Sleep Disturbance And Day Time Sleepiness
which his characterized by snoring, sleep disturbance and day time sleepiness. There is a close
relation between OSA and hypertension; as many as one third of hypertensive patients and above
80% of those with resistant hypertension have OSA.
Alcohol Higher intake of alcohol increases the blood pressure. Reducing alcohol leads to fall in the
systolic blood pressure.
Stress Psychological or environmental stress play a part in the causes of hypertension. Direct effects
of situations such as poverty, unemployment and poor education (stressors) are involved, as are
other aspects of lifestyle that are linked to hypertension.
Exercise Physical activity increases blood pressure, but people who exercise regularly have lower
blood pressures. Such people, however, also may have a healthier diet and more sensible drinking
and smoking habits.
Other dietary factors Vegetarians generally have lower BP than non vegetarians. Reducing a meat
rich diet with vegetable products reduces blood pressure. Caffeine and caffeinated drinks also
increases blood pressure and must be avoided.
THE VARIOUS BODY MECHANISMS THAT CAUSES AND INFLUENCES HYPERTENSION
The various mechanisms that cause and influences hypertension are actually built into us for good
reasons: we need them to keep our blood pressure from falling too low. But when they go somewhat
awry, they cause high blood pressure. And when that happens, we need treatment for hypertension,
ironically aimed at the same mechanisms.

Analysis of the Arab Spring Essay
In late 2010, a Tunisian named Bouazizi set himself on fire in protest against the poor economic
situation in which he was living (CNN, 2011). Other Tunisians soon took the opportunity to resist
their government and possible overthrow the leadership of Ben Ali. They took it as their
responsibility to fight for the common good. Simple demonstration against the Tunisian
government soon went ahead to an extent that Ben Ali had to leave the country. The events that
followed the departures of the Tunisian president were the least expected. The revolts in Tunisia
spurred citizens of other Arab nations to revolt against their governments. By the end of the years
2011, the Arab spring had claimed the presidency of three long serving presidents and... Show more

reforms were, however, hampered by the police and security agencies.
Most individuals who were involved in the protests were led by the belief that it was through the
protests that they could better their lives. The majority of the Egyptian citizens have felt down,
trodden and despised over the recent years by their governments. Most governments were revolts

stayed in power for more than 40 years. Removing him from powered through democratic means
had borne no fruits since most presidential elections had been marred by instances or rigging and
corruption. He had therefore instituted himself as a president for life. One aspect of Mubarak s
governments was that it was dictatorial. Besides, the people surrounding Mubarak were so
powerful that talking negatively about the president could easily lead an individual into trouble.
The government of Mubarak initiated several techniques aimed at restoring normalcy and
preventing protests. In Cairo, for example, the city remained under several days of curfew. During
this time, the regime, aided by the Peninsula Shield Force, carried out brutal crackdown on the
protesters. For example, Doctors would be detained for treating

What Is Formative And Summative Assessment
Introduction
Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its
implementation (Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of
Ireland today. Education and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left
behind. The relationship between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of
the assessment. One cannot thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the
other is equally as effective.
In this assignment I will explore the types of assessment, particularly formative and summative
assessment which are used worldwide in the classroom. As well as the history of assessment in
Ireland, the newest junior cycle programme and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that formative assessment is effective in all educational settings (Paul Black,
1998).One major difference between formative assessment and summative assessment is the way in
which formative assessment uses student involvement as an integral pillar. Without student
involvement in the assessment process, formative assessment is not reaching its full potential.
Many research papers have shown that student motivation is dramatically increased when students
are involved in both their own learning and in the learning of others (Pintrich de Groot,
1990).Teachers, however, do not have a sit back role in formative assessment. They are still crucial
to the proper use of this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying
attainable learning goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in
formative assessment is the return of feedback to students. Many studies have shown that
substantial learning gains are the outcome of an effective and frequent feedback process from
teacher to student (Wiliam,

The Discovery Of A Fossil Specimen
After so many years of searching and excavating, my partners and I have discovered our first
hominin fossil. After all the digging, cleaning, and cataloging of hominin discoveries is complete,
we begin to start analyzing mysterious specimen #6. It looked a lot like a modern human but the
skull features is slightly different and the molars is quite large. From what we have noticed at first
sight, the incisors, canines and the premolars of the specimen are missing. Without analyzing and
measuring the teeths, it would make our job a bit difficult, but there is always alternative route to
analyze this mysterious specimen.
My partners and I shared each other hypotheses about mysterious specimen #6 that were trying to
figure it out. We observed every little feature that the specimen have and we re not were not sure
what hominin it is, we first guessed that this specimen is just another known fossil species in the
human lineage or it could be a new fossil species in the human lineage. Our main hypothesis that
were trying to find the answer is mysterious specimen #6 is a previous human species before
modern humans today, and How long does mysterious specimen #6 live? There are so many
questions about mysterious specimen #6 and were we going to get to the bottom of this by
analyzing the skull features, measuring the specimen with special tools and compare and contrast
to all hominin from the past to see anything similar and related to mysterious specimen #6.

Why We Called Total War
The assassination brought many countries involved. WW I thus erupted in 1914. Every people
of Europe got involved, helping their country to win the war. Many new advanced weapons were
created during WWI. Air plans, poison gas, throwers, machine guns, armored tanks, and
submarines were used in war. WWI also had created political chaos, leading to the society in
many changes. The Great War, it is so called total war. The reason why it called total war is
because the war involved many nations, and also, every civilian were involved, too. Due to the
eruption of the Great War is the first war, it impacted many European countries, immediately

In 1954 This Is When Vietnam Was Divided Into Two States
In 1954 this is when Vietnam was divided into two states known as the, communist North Vietnam
and non communist South Vietnam. When Vietnamese communists began attacking South
Vietnam, the United States sent out their troops to support and help. Over five hundred thousand
United States troops were fighting in care of South Vietnam. Ultimately, many Americans soon
came to believe that the US troops should be withdrawn from the Vietnam war. It became one of the
most conflict ridden and ostracized causes in U.S. history. In 1973, a break in fighting agreement
with North Vietnam was signed and U.S. forces withdrew. Just two years later, Vietnam was

The United States maintained the new leader Ngo Dinh Diem when he took control in South

The United States had been sending support to South Vietnam and facilitated them to create the

Reflection About Art
I have never been into art or liked the arts for that matter, I cannot draw to save my life and being
creative with art brings my imagination to a halt. When I saw this project, I wasn t sure what I
would use to help make the art, most people I saw were using metals, but I wanted to do something
different and that made me nervous. But I had an even harder time figuring out what I wanted to
create. I had about a million ideas in my head, but had an extremely hard time looking at things that
I found and picturing them all together becoming a sculpture.
I started out with sticks and paper garbage that I had found around my home and the places where
I walk my dogs. I didn t know what I wanted to do with them, but I felt like they were the material
I wanted to use. After I had gathered enough sticks and pieces of paper that I found on the ground
I sat down and tried to brainstorm what I could make. I came up with the idea of getting the sticks
together in a ball and gluing the trash paper on to create the look of the continents and the sticks be
a globe. I figured out very fast that the sticks would not hold together, even after I soaked them in
water. I ditched that idea and moved on to a new one.
I still had all the garbage that I found and figured I could make good use of that. After ditching
the sticks (not on the ground I put them in my green trash can so they could be picked up and
disposed of properly) I focused on the paper materials that I had picked up. I thought

Analysis Of Orwell s Why I Write
Why I Write
Some questions to consider...
What is Orwell s thesis in this essay?
The thesis of the essay is that writing was Orwell s inevitable and irresistible destiny, although
shrouded by his attempts to abandon it. It had always been inexorably and intricately woven into
his person, manifesting itself first at 5 or 6, and then ultimately impressing itself on his life with
irrevocable and fulfilling finality.
Discuss, using examples from this essay, whether or not he successfully achieves his thesis through
this piece.
Orwell successfully achieves his thesis, with the aid of several techniques Orwell employs to
demonstrate his coming to terms with writing as his undeniable fate.
Orwell conveys the transition between times of indecision and suppression of his passion to times
of expert confidence and comfort as a writer using contrasting diction at the beginning and end of
his essay. At the onset of the essay, such words as: barely, unfinished, good enough, mere, search,
etc., were used to create a sense of hesitancy and indecision. The words are airy and elusive
ephemeral in a sense and invoke in readers a sense of floating on the winds of indecision, being
blown every which way. The first two paragraphs also contain a notable number of dashes (i.e. 5),
which also suggest haphazard thoughts and allude to the times of indecision in his younger years.
Contrarily, there are 0 dashes on the last page of his essay. At the end of the essay we are trees. We

Limitations Of Video As A Learning Tool
2.1.2: Limitations of Video as a Learning Tool
Although video has become prevalent in education, some argue that the very presence of video
inhibits learning. Salomon (1984) measured sixth graders preconceptions of the ease or difficulty
when processing print or video based lessons. He discovered that lower mental effort was
extended with the television lesson, perceiving television as easy, and print as tough, thus
requiring more mental exertion. He stated, It stands to reason that when subjects face a task they
perceive to be easy relative to their abilities, their investment of effort decreases and no additional
effort expenditure is needed to perform the task that is perceived to be well mastered (Salomon,
1984: 694). Thus viewers perceive videos as less demanding and invest less mental effort into
processing the information as a result, which negatively influences their learning achievement
(Saloman, 1984). However, since Salomon s work others have conducted research to determine
what other effects could influence a learner s invested mental effort. The category and subject
matter of the content also impacted a viewer s intention to learn from the video material. Kunkel
and Kovaric (1983) discovered that learners view educational content as more serious than
entertainment, and subsequently, altered their motivation to process either information. By
analysing college students and their preconceptions of television shows produced for the Public

Suicide In Beowulf
Dante pieces together a very well fitted relationship between the sin and punishment in Canto XIII
by taking the sinners willingness to commit suicide in hopes that they will no longer feel pain, and
turning it into a pain that they will feel eternally. This punishment of the sin of suicide is portrayed
through the screaming of the sinners, the change of their physical state and loss of identity, and the
withstanding between their souls and their bodies.
As Virgil and Dante enter the second ring of the seventh circle of hell, they are in a dark forest,
surrounded by trees that display no greenery and very little signs of life. Perhaps the lack of
greenery is meant to symbolize death. Greenery in forestry implies growth and health, which doesn t

Summary 2008 Financial Crisis
The financial crisis began in early 2006 when the subprime mortgage market in the U.S. began to
display an increasing rate of mortgage defaults. These defaults lead, in late 2006, to a decline in
US housing prices after nearly a decade of exceptionally high growth. Many Americans watched as
their primary source of wealth become increasingly devalued. By late 2007, the prime mortgage
markets were showing higher than normal default rates as well.
Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs), a type of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs),
allowed these problems to spread from the mortgage market to other sectors of the economy,
having especially widespread effects on financial markets as a whole. CMOs were mortgage

These liquidity problems turned to insolvency in September of 2008, when private lending froze
completely in a number of important credit markets, such as commercial paper. As a result, non
financial businesses were unable to get access to the financing they required to function normally,
leading to problems in the real economy.
The real economy began to exhibit problems related to the financial crisis as early as March
2006, when investment expenditure on residential structures began to decline. In early 2008, this
decline spread to investment in business equipment and consumer spending on durable goods. It
wasn t until the summer of 2008 that consumer spending broadly and GDP began falling, signs
of a recession. (In December 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research, official arbiter of
business cycles dated the formal beginning of the recession as December 2007.) While the public
had been concerned about recession for much of the year, it wasn t until the fall that the economy
began to decline at more than a 6% annual rate. Congress responded by passing the TARP plan to
assist failing financial institutions. This plan was meant to decrease the severity of the recession by
treating its cause: the financial crisis.

Finding Common Ground And Interests
Finding Common Ground / Interests An overriding framework of value creation, exploration of
opportunities, interests and common goals was identified by both parties from the onset of the
negotiation. Both groups where able to find common ground through setting out all issues
processes and procedures of the negotiation, the understanding of each other s issues opens the
possibilities of collaboration and a win win (Falcao, 2010). Within all negotiations there is a
point where both parties present their positions and provide the expectations they hope to receive
from the negotiation. Collaboration provides the opportunity for both parties to frame the
requirements and limits expressed previously in the negotiation and work collaboratively to
provide solutions that would be mutually beneficial for both parties (Fisher Ury, 1981). Within
collaboration both parties require the foresight and key behaviours to ensure a successful
outcome, both parties are required to be open minded on the possibilities of value creation and
goals to ensure parties are not committed to one single answer (Fisher Ury, 1981). Negotiators are
required to be mindful that goals can be achieved through multiple routes and exploration is
required to achieve valued propositions for all parties, this may include parties making concessions

King Leopold s Ghost Analysis
King Leopold s Ghost a story of greer, terror and heroism in colonial africa written by Adam
Hochschild, reveals the hidden horror in the Congo. Hochschild conveys the exploitation of the
Congo Free State by King Leopold II of Belgium from 1885 to 1908, as well as the revolting
brutality during that period. Hochschild discloses how King Leopold II s unpleasant and atrocious
capacity of maliciousness is shown through mass killings and colonization of Congolese land. The
Ghost of King Leopold II still plagues the world while he is celebrated as a great humanitarian.
(use own words).
Part One: Walking Into Fire In the first part of Hochschild s book, he describes the actions and
desires that led King Leopold to seize the Congo Free State, the rules he broke and how he
manipulated the nations with his righteousness of combating slavery even though figured such
as George Williams and ____ began speaking out against him. Hochschild describes King
Leopold II as rude, revolting and awkward as he was growing up. His characteristics only began
to drift towards persuasive and cunning when he discovered his curiosity in the colonization of
new land. Conveniently, many European countries had no interest in colonization. When Leopold
gained power, and searched for his lovely colony, their ambivalence resulted in him creating a
colony on his own account. Leopold never actually stepped foot in Congo, he had used explorers
such as Stanley Mortan and other white men to establish the colony for him. To sneakily undergo
his objectives without other countries noticing, he created organizations in which he could operate
under. For instance, the International African Association to stop the outspread of slavery.
Leopold additionally hosted conference meetings to speak on human rights. If he was to seize
anything in Africa, he could do so only if he convinced everyone that his interest was purely
altruistic . (46) King Leopold succeeded at convincing every one of his goodwill, that he was
supported financially from the Belgian government in introducing free trade and religion in the
Congo. Overall, King Leopold had invaded the Congo to have his own land, sending Stanley

Comparing Shintoism And Feuerbach s Definition Of Religion
Throughout history, a wide variety of differing cultures and religions have developed and created
a unique way of life for the people that practice them. One in particular is a Japanese tradition,
specifically Shintoism. The primary belief is that its followers must pray to the gods or their
ancestors in times of trouble in order to reach their own personal fulfillments. This religion
demonstrates how god assists those who ask for help, or in other words, gives them some sense of
hope during rough times. A statement about religion that relates to this is Ludwig Feuerbach

they are taught that there is more to the world than just what they understand. The invisible world

Theory Of Morality As A System Of Hypothetical Imperatives...
Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System
In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant,
that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant,
categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral
system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends
and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds
that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as
the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have
moral worth, in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical
imperatives are directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of
how morality is known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the
moral purpose that hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of
what is the moral basis of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative.
To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s
distinction between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. According to Kant, a hypothetical
imperative can be contrasted with a categorical imperative in that it commands an action that is
good to some

Altruism Or Self-Interest Research Paper
Citizenship: altruism or self interest?
What does it mean to be a citizen? Or what does it mean to be a republican citizen? Every thinker
will give a different definition to the concept of citizenship through history. Sometimes their
definition will nuance just slightly. In the classical definition of citizenship, Aristotle and some
other thinkers see the citizen as an active, political being (P35). An active citizen is the one who
will get involved in the activities of her or his community. In the self govern republic, the citizen
will get involve in the political life. However, the political requires some sacrifice, at least one
has to dedicate her or his time at the expenses of his personal life. In fact, Dagger suggests states
that the citizen has to be prepared to [...] set aside their private interest when necessary for the
public as a whole (P17). Many will interpret this as a need for the citizen to sacrifice his personal
interest for others, the community. Therefore, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Dagger, the republican conception acknowledges that even the good citizens should
not forsake self interest altogether (P19). How does it work then? How can you be very active in
your community and still be able to aim your own goal? Tocqueville will explain that they go
together. He stated that paying taxes, serving on jury, obeying the laws and attending public affairs
require time [...], but such sacrifices are necessary if we want to preserve republican government
and continue to enjoy the rights of the citizens. In other words, the citizens know they have to
seek the good for their community because this will also allow them to achieve their personal
goal as well. They will participate in the government, they will participate when it comes to make
law because they want to protect their right of self govern. Also, they will obey to these laws
because this is the only way to preserve their own

Meursault s Indifference in The Stranger, by Albert Camus
In The Stranger, Albert Camus allows the main character to tell the story in order to give the reader
an experience of his own. Obviously, with a novel also comes language, which Camus incorporates
cleverly as a way to indirectly illustrate Meursault s thoughts about certain situations. Although the
novel represents a postmodern setting, the author shifts the overall meaning. In The Stranger,
Camus applies a unique literary style as a power that deflects blame from Meursault, the antiheroic
character. In order to disclaim the fault of Meursault, Camus incorporates several instances in which
he leaves a greater sense of authority to nonliving objects, while further drawing attention away
from the main character. Based on the implication of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, he covers the Arab s intentions when talking about the same blade that persists in
bringing Meursault pain. He describes the stabbing as a scorching blade [that] slashes at [his]
eyelashes and stabs at [his] stinging eyes (59). The moment that the blade brings itself to Meursault
s face and slashes at his eyelashes, of course, is the point at which Meursault acknowledges that
everything is beginning to reel. Finally, under the influence of the sea s fiery breath and the sun s
scorching attitude, Meursault admits that the trigger gave when reminiscing on the death of the
Arab (59). Not until after he blames the trigger for the mishap does he use first person to describe
the negative actions, as he shoots the Arab four more times. At this point, perhaps, he realizes his
own fault within the situation as he continues to set himself in place for the remainder of part one.
The simple sentences in The Stranger reveal Meursault s emotional detachment from society, while
the more complex sentences are assigned to objects with authority. Throughout the entire novel,
Meursault s simplicity and disinterest in the world can be identified with the incorporation of his
simple statements. Especially in this particular passage, Meursault finds it unimportant to challenge
himself in a way that makes sense. Although Meursault recognizes the sensibility of walking

Millions of people use the Internet for a copious amount of reasons. Almost anything one could

From what we choose to eat to what we choose to wear, it has some effect on us. Every day,
millions of people willingly choose to get on the Internet. Carr even states that he has been
spending a lot of time online, searching and surfing and sometimes adding to the great databases
of the Internet over the past decade (Carr, 634). This raises the question: why would you partake
in something that you feel is lessening your ability? There is no simple answer to this question.
One may say that they need the Internet for research, but there are many other ways to research.
However, the Internet is the easiest and fastest way to research today. This much is already
known; even Carr agrees that the Internet is a godsend and that research that once required days
can be done in mere minutes (Carr, 634). This brings to the surface the want to use the Internet.
Somewhere, no matter how deep down it is, there is a piece of every single person that wants to
take the easy route. This incessant want to make things easier is the sole purpose of Google.
According to Carr, Google is attempting to create an artificial intelligence that is similar to a
HAL like machine that could be connected directly to our brains which is an allusion to the
science fiction movie 2001: A Space Odyssey (Carr, 639). Carr seems to believe that as we come
to rely on computers, that we will be lesser than the machines that we create, much like in 2001

A favorite quote of mine by Paul David Tripp, that has become very dear to me, is that Godwill not
protect us from that which he will perfect us through.
And while I am not claiming by any means to have arrived at some spiritual revelation of
completeness, I do feel I have a message/testimony to share with you, my family of believers. I
have prayed about this, and asked close friends to pray over this as well. I truly come to you
humbly to share what God has been speaking to my heart in this most difficult season of my life
and perhaps it will encourage, challenge and edify you as well. I want to share with you about
idols, the body and walls.
God graciously, yes, graciously and lovingly removed an idol in my life this summer. Yes, it was
a violent shattering to pieces of an idol I did not even know I had made of my husband. God very
quickly reminded me of many instances in scripture how many times He calls for idols to be
destroyed or abandoned for HIM. I have spent much time this summer reading and studying about
idolatry. Friends, God loves us too much for our hearts to become enslaved by idols that do not
satisfy and do not deserve our affection over Him!
One day, when I was literally face down on the floor in my bedroom in a puddle of tears crying
out to God, he gently reminded me of Abraham, walking his beloved son Isaac up the mountain. Do

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we
have done very little to dissolve it. Violenceagainst women is everywhere, at home, at the
workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not

Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is

is inside the cranium its what protects the brain and its soft tissue, the cranial cavity is surrounded
in a thin layer of cells. The thoracic or chest cavity houses the oesophagus, aorta, lungs, heart, and

Theme Of Women In A Streetcar Named Desire
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is about this lady named Blanche who was a
school teacher. She lost her job when she was found to have an affair with a teenage boy in her
school. After that Blanche went to stay at a hotel, but she attracted too many men and so they
kicked her out. Then Blanche went to her sister, Stella s house and lived with her and her
husband, Stanley. But, they only had one bedroom, so, Blanche had to sleep in the bed located in
the kitchen. Overtime Stanley and Stella started to notice a change in Blanche. Blanche s mental
state had started to worsen as more time went by. Even after noticing the change, Stanley had
sexual abused her when Stella was in the hospital. However, Stella still believed Stanley and she
had been forced to send Blanche to a mental asylum. Williams throughout this performance shows
men dominance over women, meaning that men were in charge and made women seem inferior
compared to men. This led to a conflict between men and women, which a feminist critic would
observe as women playing inferior and submissive role compared to men. In this play, Williams
shows masculinity as being the more stable gender. This means that women often relied on men
for their living. For example, in scene 11 when Stella is talking to Eunice, Stella says, I don t
know if I did the right thing...I couldn t believe her story and go on living with Stanley (Williams
133). Even if Stella wanted to believe Blanche, Stella had no choice

Le An Objective For Prohibition
Abstract: Lean is a conspicuous theory and application which expects the use of a wide range of
assets for any reason, other than the production of significant worth for the end client to be
inefficient, and subsequently an objective for prohibition. The theory and mindset communicated
by an arrangement of standards, supplemented by various devices and systems helps for waste

infinitely bad (48)! She reflects on the gender norms in the current time period. It is common for
women to be married and raise children, they are meant to comfort and care for others. Mrs.
Ramsay represents this belief. She encourages Mr. Ramsay when he feels down about his works,
but also questions why he needs this constant reassurance. Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not
succeed in art and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously
mentioning the marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes.
During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly
portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something
to make their life significant in the eyes of others. This is one thing Virginia Woolfmentions
throughout the novel to emphasize the desires many people have in the world today. Mr. Ramsay
reflects on being remembered through his philosophical works and research after his life has
ended. Mrs. Ramsay finds significance and importance in making memories with others to build a
memorable reputation. Lily notices this when she realizes Mrs. Ramsay wants Lily to marry Mr.
Bankes.

The Negative Aspects Of Life In Our Town By Thornton Wilder
In the play, Our Town written by Thornton Wilder there are many aspects of life discussed. There
are several aspects of the life discussed that are pleasant such as love and marriage, but there are
also some less pleasant life aspects such as death and suffering. Although the play has several
positive points and aspects of the life of the people in the town, it mostly gives a negative
message to the reader of the play. The first two acts of the play are about daily life and love and
marriage. Therefore, the reader would seem to believe that it would be a positive play rather than
having more negative moments. Even the unimportant things in the play that could have been left
out are included to make the theme more negative overall. While reading the play, there are many
parts of it that make the reader wonder why the play is so solemn and grave. In the last act of the
play, the reader sees all the death that has struck the town in the past years. One of the more
negative than positive parts in act one of the play happens when the scientific account of the town
is being given. Mr.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sociological Perspectives And Trends Of Health And Illness
M2 Use different sociological perspectives to discuss patterns and trends of health and illness in
two different social groups. D1 Evaluate different sociological explanations for patterns and
trends of health and illness in two different social groups. Introduction In this assignment I will
be writing about two sociological perspectives and discus there patterns and trends of health and
illness to two social groups. The black report was published in 1980, and it included different
facts about how health can be improved from all different backgrounds in different social
groupings. There is still a co relation between social class and infant mortality rates, life
expectancy and inequalities in the use of medical services. This report looked at the differences
between health and illness. Sociologists from this very day still use the black report to look at
inequalities of health because it was that significant and powerful. Different researches do believe
that there is a link between social class and health. It is a statistical impression and also it has
been argued that there isn t really a pattern in social class, age and peoples employment that has
had an impact on people s health inequalities. Statistical artefact is a connection that shows how
different systems have been used and measured. lower class have a much higher morbidity and
mortality rates which are compared with the higher class that only work in offices or as a doctors.

Rwanda Case Study
In December 2015, the President accepted an offer from People s Republic of China (PRC) of
military training assistance intended to support troops engaged in peacekeeping operations (PKO)
and counterterrorism efforts in Africa. Given that Rwanda ranks fifth in the world, among United
Nations PKO troop contributing countries, and also engaged in counterterrorism efforts in the
world, Rwanda will inevitably benefit from this Chinese assistance package. Therefore, on 22
November 2017, the National Defence Council will meet to review strategies to engage the PRC
on training assistance and military to military relations. The council will also assess China s
assistance and identify areas that China could support Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). Key... Show

Another important factor is that terrorist acts, violent extremism, and radicalization are active in the
region and pose a serious threat. These two endeavors, PKO and counterterrorism require a lot of
resources and commitment. So Rwanda maintains a commitment to the world s peace and security
by contributing peacekeepers to both United Nations (UN) and African union (AU), and to combat
terrorism in the region. However, to maintain the contribution of troops in terms of quantity and
quality in PKO and combating terrorism require significant financial resources that Rwanda does
not have. It is this background, the president accepted the Chinese assistance package to support
PKO commitment and counterterrorism efforts within the region and in the world. However, the
assistance offer should not compromise our national interests: sovereignty, peace and security, as
well as national unity and dignity, values and freedoms, and Rwanda relationship with the United
States of America and European Union countries. Secondly, China s assistance should adhere to
Rwanda s Aid Policy principles stated in Rwanda Aid Policy 2006 document, which align with
national priorities, enhance country ownership, and allow for mutual accountability. Rwanda s
objective is to get assistance to support PKO and counter terrorism efforts. However, the assistance
should not recede Rwanda s Aid Policy

The Game Theory And Politics
Game Theory and Politics Whenever Game theory is taught at colleges, politics is one area that is
never touched upon as an application of game theory. Though game theory in international relations
and national politics has been a studied in detail in the past, there has been a recent increase in the
popularity of this study. An increasing number of game models are extensively being used in
informed studies of arms control, preservation of international peace, disarmament policies,
environmental treaties, national politics, international trade negotiations and bargaining process
etc., with all the studies sharing the assumption that all the players in the international arena are
rational with respect to the goals they seek to advance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, governments will gain if they engage in international cooperation to limit expenditure on
military buildup. This problem of arms, and in general any problem of cooperation, can be
explained through the game of prisoners dilemma. Prisoner s dilemma was conceptualized by
Melvin Dresher and Merrill Flood in 195, and formalized and named by Albert Tucker. This
game provides a basic framework for the balance between cooperation and competition and
therefore, is used extensively in strategic decision making. Our example, arms race, can be
modeled through this game. Two governments, lets all them A and B decide whether to build
nuclear arms or not. Thus, each has two choices: build nuclear arms (denote by w) and not build
nuclear arms (denote by n) and their respective choices give them certain payoff. The following
2x2 matrix describes the model: B ABuild (W)Not Build (N) Build (W)(2,2)(4,1) Not Build
(N)(1,4)(3,3) We can see that if both countries agree to not build nuclear arms, they have a higher
payoff than they do if they both build. However, if they differ in their choices, then the country
that chooses to build will have a power advantage over the other and thus, a higher payoff. In the
above figure, if A chooses to build and if B

Biological Approach To Psychology Essay
1.0 INTRODUCTION
A lot has been said about behavioural and biological approaches in psychology i.e. the assumptions
of both approaches and how they influence disorders such as depression.
The behavioural theory states that personality is as a result of the interaction between an individual
and the environment (i.e. the society and the individual). It is focus on observable and measurable
behaviour rather than mental or emotional behaviours and different theories focus on one type of
behaviour over the other. On the contrary, the biological approach seeks to explain behaviour as a
result of interactions within the body. It is based on assumptions such as how the brain psychology
can influence behaviour and also how behaviour can be inherited ... Show more content on

These are neurotransmitter dysfunction and inherited genes.
In neurotransmitter dysfunction, the biological approach to depression explains low levels of the
neurotransmitter serotonin. This has been linked with many forms of dysfunctional behaviour such
as anxiety, excessive anger, poor social functioning and other mood disorders.
Serotonin is understood to have a variety of roles and affects brain functioning; even though it is
not known if depression is caused by serotonin levels, or whether depression causes low serotonin,
or if there is another factor causing them both.
In regards to genes, depression could be explained in terms of genetic predispositions. Research in
the area of twin and adoption studies has shown that there is a genetic link to depression. As a
result it is being advocated some individuals may have genes that predispose them to depression
and other mood disorders.
7.0 CONCLUSIONS
Behaviorism assumes that we are born as a blank slate and so equal at birth. The theorists believe
that it is the environmental factors that shape our behaviour rather than genetic or biological
differences. Behaviorism very much represents the nurture aspect of the nature nurture

Strength-Based Approach To Social Work
Introduction It is important for programs in which families attend be diverse, locally accessible
and promote social justice. This allows growth for children, youth and families to develop in the
right setting and gain strength and resilience. Everyone has a different story and having programs
that are specific to one group of people that share something in common gives those in the program
the opportunity to develop. The MilitaryFamilyResource Centre is a prime example of a program
that uses the strength based approach to help clients where they are in life. This is done by using

children, youth and families are uniquely different and programming for them need to be

The Expansion Of Modernity By Ferdinand T Г“Ељ Nnies
Most theorists agree that the expansion of modernity has resulted in the decline in the natural will
based type of community, and has paved the way for less of a need for the Gemeinschaft type of
society and the rise the Gesellschaft association, in which the individuals engage in impersonal and
contractual arrangements, rather than a meaningful, emotionally invested relationship with others.
Modernity is intrinsically disorderly because it encourages individuals to experiment, to hope, to
gamble, and to be ambitious. Its social life lacks the predictability and the certainties that
characterize societies governed by tradition. Individual creativity is exchanged for the security of
calculable social obligations and the sense of belonging that emanate from fixed social bonds
(Savage and Warde, 1993, p.150). Essentially, individuals give up a sense of belonging in order to
experience what that have not, and could not in a traditional community. They give up the security
of being a part of a group in order to gain individual creativity.
THEORIES
Ferdinand Tӧnnies is seen as the theorist with the most direct influence over later sociological
work and communities. He wanted to eliminate the spatial contexts and superiority of neither
village nor city life when analyzing communities, in attempt to identify the main features and
quality of each way of life. He coined the terms Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft, which would later
be used by one of the founders of modern sociology, Max

Essay on Comparing the Heroes in The Dream of the Rood...
The Heroes in The Dream of the Rood and Beowulf
In The Dream of the Rood, the poet has added elements of the idealized heroic death (as
exemplified in Beowulf and The Battle of Maldon) to the crucifixion. He has also eliminated
details of the story that tend to render Christ as a figure of pathos, in order to further Christ s
identification with the other glorious warriors Anglo Saxon poems.
When a hero meets his death, for example, he is usually surrounded by faithful retainers (as is
Byrhtnoth) or at least one steadfast companion, such as Beowulf s Wiglaf. The gospel clearly states
that Jesus died ignobly, in the most humiliating fashion possible, and that his disciples kept
themselves from Golgotha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can a man die honorably without treasure?
The poet does not mention that Christ dies to fulfill a prophecy, one that is unavoidable and that
he therefore calmly accepts. The notion of letting fate do its work doesn t seem to be on any of
the other heroes agendas, either. Beowulf, for example, suspects that the dragon s laying waste to
his kingdom may indeed be divine punishment but that doesn t stop him from going to its barrow
and stabbing the creature in the belly. In fact, Beowulf clearly states It is a mystery where a
courageous man will meet his fated end. . . [ll. 3063 4] .
Interestingly, in Maldon, the ones on the battlefield who are described as fated to die are always
the Vikings, the barbarians. On page 57, a Viking warrior s death is recounted thus: The fated
warrior fell to earth. Whereas Byrhtnoth s sister s son chose death in battle, on the same page.
The delineation is clear: a hero dies in battle, by choice; others let fate roll over them. The
designation fated is never applied to the valorous.
A medieval hero always seeks his own death, if by his sacrifice his kinsmen will benefit. This is
why Beowulf willingly enters the den of his third and final monster: Now the edge of the sword,
hand and hard blade, must fight for treasure. [ll. 2508 9] Treasure means security for his people;
therefore he goes, refusing all help, because it is his duty to do well by his kingdom. The Rood
poet points out

Driving Safety Procedure (360 Walk Around)
Between the months of December 2016 and January 2017 driving incidents have slightly increased.
Eighty percent of the incidents were minor fender benders. There are many other reasons that could
potentially contribute to this slight increase of incidents. However, incident free driving requires

My individual record was also undefeated as well and it was strenuous, to say the least but also
rewarding. Day two we knew was going to be the toughest competition and most stressful. It s that
day that by the end, you know basically what you are competing for. Whether it is for the
championship title or to place overall top ten. All other competition gets done by the end of the
second day and for that to happen means a profusion of matches. The first match of the day was
against a very skillful Alabama team, we won respectfully and geared up for our next match.
Giving it all I had was not enough nor was the whole team s full effort enough to defeat the
notorious club team from New York. The loss was not taken lightly so we moved on knowing
we needed to get two consecutive wins in order to make it in the top 10. At this point in time, I
was very anxious to see how strong our team really is because I really thought we had more in us
than what we put out on the mat the last match. My record was now 4 1 which was looking very
impressive. Moving into our next match I had opened up the first match knowing it was
important and I set the tone of the match I would say with a huge win over a multiple time state
champion from the Florida team. My team won that match, meaning that we were going up
against the returning champion team called Young Guns from Pennsylvania. That match was
safe to say the most adrenaline I have had in my body going at one time. The match really came
down to the final bouts of the match, making it a very grueling match to be a part of because all
that was on my mind was the fact that with a huge win here means we sealed the deal the place
top ten at the least! I and most of the team picked up very courageous wins over our opponents
bringing us to victory in the end of that match. Sleeping that night seemed impossible because there
was so much on my mind, I could not

students. In the fast development of IT, virtual laboratory become an option in engineering field.
The importance of laboratory experience in engineering education has long been recognized. The
fact is, is virtual laboratorya good substitute to replace traditional laboratory or still have some
weak point that need to be reconsidered in order to replace it? In this topic, I will discuss about the
merit and demerits of the use of virtual laboratory in engineering.

As we all know, with the development of ICT, engineering education through ODL is never a
dream and Virtual Laboratory is also one of the ODL tool. It makes no difference for students to
either conduct the experiment in a campus or doing it in their home. It is very convenient as
student do not need to go to physical laboratories to do the experiment. They can conduct it at
anywhere and anytime whenever they want.
As we all know, during the process of conducting an experiment, safety is the main concern. With
the use of virtual laboratory, there is no safe concerns as compared to real laboratory. It is very
useful especially when it comes to experiments that may cause harm to human body.
Virtual laboratory also provide educational benefits. One of it is virtual laboratory let students to
learn methodology, pedagogy and user friendly. In normal laboratory class, some student did not
really able to understand some concepts that teach in the lab. However, studies have found that
instead of using the real lab, it is easier for the students to learn difficult and complex concepts
through the virtual laboratory. Studies also found that students are more active in learning in a
virtual laboratory rather than in a real lab class. This is because virtual laboratory provides a user
friendly environment and easy to understand the concepts. Experiments can be repeated many times
and there are no inconveniences in failing the

  • 6. What Is Formative And Summative Assessment Introduction Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its implementation (Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of Ireland today. Education and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left behind. The relationship between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of the assessment. One cannot thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the other is equally as effective. They are still crucial to the proper use of this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying attainable learning goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in formative assessment is the return of feedback to students. Many studies have shown that substantial learning gains are the outcome of an effective and frequent feedback process from teacher to student (Wiliam, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without analyzing and measuring the teeths, it would make our job a bit difficult, but there is always alternative route to analyze this mysterious specimen. My partners and I shared each other hypotheses about mysterious specimen #6 that were trying to figure it out. We observed every little feature that the specimen have and we re not were not sure what hominin it is, we first guessed that this specimen is just another known fossil species in the human lineage or it could be a new fossil species in the human lineage. Our main hypothesis that were trying to find the answer is mysterious specimen #6 is a previous human species before modern humans today, and How long does mysterious specimen #6 live? There are so many questions about mysterious specimen #6 and were we going to get to the bottom of this by analyzing the skull features, measuring the specimen with special tools and compare and contrast to all hominin from the past to see anything similar and related to mysterious specimen #6. • 10. Reflection About Art I have never been into art or liked the arts for that matter, I cannot draw to save my life and being creative with art brings my imagination to a halt. When I saw this project, I wasn t sure what I would use to help make the art, most people I saw were using metals, but I wanted to do something different and that made me nervous. But I had an even harder time figuring out what I wanted to create. I had about a million ideas in my head, but had an extremely hard time looking at things that I found and picturing them all together becoming a sculpture. I started out with sticks and paper garbage that I had found around my home and the places where I walk my dogs. I didn t know what I wanted to do with them, but I felt like they were the material I wanted to use. After I had gathered enough sticks and pieces of paper that I found on the ground I sat down and tried to brainstorm what I could make. I came up with the idea of getting the sticks together in a ball and gluing the trash paper on to create the look of the continents and the sticks be a globe. I figured out very fast that the sticks would not hold together, even after I soaked them in water. I ditched that idea and moved on to a new one. I still had all the garbage that I found and figured I could make good use of that. After ditching the sticks (not on the ground I put them in my green trash can so they could be picked up and disposed of properly) I focused on the paper materials that I had picked up. I thought ... • 11. Analysis Of Orwell s Why I Write Why I Write Some questions to consider... What is Orwell s thesis in this essay? The thesis of the essay is that writing was Orwell s inevitable and irresistible destiny, although shrouded by his attempts to abandon it. It had always been inexorably and intricately woven into his person, manifesting itself first at 5 or 6, and then ultimately impressing itself on his life with irrevocable and fulfilling finality. Discuss, using examples from this essay, whether or not he successfully achieves his thesis through this piece. Orwell successfully achieves his thesis, with the aid of several techniques Orwell employs to demonstrate his coming to terms with writing as his undeniable fate. Orwell conveys the transition between times of indecision and suppression of his passion to times of expert confidence and comfort as a writer using contrasting diction at the beginning and end of his essay. At the onset of the essay, such words as: barely, unfinished, good enough, mere, search, etc., were used to create a sense of hesitancy and indecision. The words are airy and elusive ephemeral in a sense and invoke in readers a sense of floating on the winds of indecision, being blown every which way. The first two paragraphs also contain a notable number of dashes (i.e. 5), which also suggest haphazard thoughts and allude to the times of indecision in his younger years. Contrarily, there are 0 dashes on the last page of his essay. At the end of the essay we are trees. We are rooted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Limitations Of Video As A Learning Tool 2.1.2: Limitations of Video as a Learning Tool Although video has become prevalent in education, some argue that the very presence of video inhibits learning. Salomon (1984) measured sixth graders preconceptions of the ease or difficulty when processing print or video based lessons. He discovered that lower mental effort was extended with the television lesson, perceiving television as easy, and print as tough, thus requiring more mental exertion. He stated, It stands to reason that when subjects face a task they perceive to be easy relative to their abilities, their investment of effort decreases and no additional effort expenditure is needed to perform the task that is perceived to be well mastered (Salomon, 1984: 694). Thus viewers perceive videos as less demanding and invest less mental effort into processing the information as a result, which negatively influences their learning achievement (Saloman, 1984). However, since Salomon s work others have conducted research to determine what other effects could influence a learner s invested mental effort. The category and subject matter of the content also impacted a viewer s intention to learn from the video material. Kunkel and Kovaric (1983) discovered that learners view educational content as more serious than entertainment, and subsequently, altered their motivation to process either information. Many Americans watched as their primary source of wealth become increasingly devalued. By late 2007, the prime mortgage markets were showing higher than normal default rates as well. The Ghost of King Leopold II still plagues the world while he is celebrated as a great humanitarian. (use own words). Hochschild describes King Leopold II as rude, revolting and awkward as he was growing up. His characteristics only began to drift towards persuasive and cunning when he discovered his curiosity in the colonization of new land. Conveniently, many European countries had no interest in colonization. When Leopold gained power, and searched for his lovely colony, their ambivalence resulted in him creating a colony on his own account. Leopold never actually stepped foot in Congo, he had used explorers such as Stanley Mortan and other white men to establish the colony for him. • 22. Theory Of Morality As A System Of Hypothetical Imperatives... Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant, that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant, categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have moral worth, in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical imperatives are directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of how morality is known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the moral purpose that hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of what is the moral basis of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative. To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s distinction between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. According to Kant, a hypothetical imperative can be contrasted with a categorical imperative in that it commands an action that is good to some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She lost her job when she was found to have an affair with a teenage boy in her school. After that Blanche went to stay at a hotel, but she attracted too many men and so they kicked her out. Then Blanche went to her sister, Stella s house and lived with her and her husband, Stanley. But, they only had one bedroom, so, Blanche had to sleep in the bed located in the kitchen. Overtime Stanley and Stella started to notice a change in Blanche. Blanche s mental state had started to worsen as more time went by. Even after noticing the change, Stanley had sexual abused her when Stella was in the hospital. However, Stella still believed Stanley and she had been forced to send Blanche to a mental asylum. Williams throughout this performance shows men dominance over women, meaning that men were in charge and made women seem inferior compared to men. This led to a conflict between men and women, which a feminist critic would observe as women playing inferior and submissive role compared to men. In this play, Williams shows masculinity as being the more stable gender. This means that women often relied on men for their living. For example, in scene 11 when Stella is talking to Eunice, Stella says, I don t know if I did the right thing...I couldn t believe her story and go on living with Stanley (Williams 133). Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not succeed in art and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously mentioning the marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes. During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something to make their life significant in the eyes of others. Introduction In this assignment I will be writing about two sociological perspectives and discus there patterns and trends of health and illness to two social groups. The black report was published in 1980, and it included different facts about how health can be improved from all different backgrounds in different social groupings. There is still a co relation between social class and infant mortality rates, life expectancy and inequalities in the use of medical services. This report looked at the differences between health and illness. Sociologists from this very day still use the black report to look at inequalities of health because it was that significant and powerful. Different researches do believe that there is a link between social class and health. It is a statistical impression and also it has been argued that there isn t really a pattern in social class, age and peoples employment that has had an impact on people s health inequalities. This problem of arms, and in general any problem of cooperation, can be explained through the game of prisoners dilemma. Prisoner s dilemma was conceptualized by Melvin Dresher and Merrill Flood in 195, and formalized and named by Albert Tucker. This game provides a basic framework for the balance between cooperation and competition and therefore, is used extensively in strategic decision making. Our example, arms race, can be modeled through this game. Two governments, lets all them A and B decide whether to build nuclear arms or not. Thus, each has two choices: build nuclear arms (denote by w) and not build nuclear arms (denote by n) and their respective choices give them certain payoff. The following 2x2 matrix describes the model: B ABuild (W)Not Build (N) Build (W)(2,2)(4,1) Not Build (N)(1,4)(3,3) We can see that if both countries agree to not build nuclear arms, they have a higher payoff than they do if they both build. However, if they differ in their choices, then the country that chooses to build will have a power advantage over the other and thus, a higher payoff. It is focus on observable and measurable behaviour rather than mental or emotional behaviours and different theories focus on one type of behaviour over the other. The Expansion Of Modernity By Ferdinand T ÓŚ Nnies Most theorists agree that the expansion of modernity has resulted in the decline in the natural will based type of community, and has paved the way for less of a need for the Gemeinschaft type of society and the rise the Gesellschaft association, in which the individuals engage in impersonal and contractual arrangements, rather than a meaningful, emotionally invested relationship with others. Modernity is intrinsically disorderly because it encourages individuals to experiment, to hope, to gamble, and to be ambitious. Its social life lacks the predictability and the certainties that characterize societies governed by tradition. Individual creativity is exchanged for the security of calculable social obligations and the sense of belonging that emanate from fixed social bonds (Savage and Warde, 1993, p.150). Essentially, individuals give up a sense of belonging in order to experience what that have not, and could not in a traditional community. They give up the security of being a part of a group in order to gain individual creativity. THEORIES Ferdinand Tӧnnies is seen as the theorist with the most direct influence over later sociological work and communities. The Heroes in The Dream of the Rood and Beowulf In The Dream of the Rood, the poet has added elements of the idealized heroic death (as exemplified in Beowulf and The Battle of Maldon) to the crucifixion. He has also eliminated details of the story that tend to render Christ as a figure of pathos, in order to further Christ s identification with the other glorious warriors Anglo Saxon poems. When a hero meets his death, for example, he is usually surrounded by faithful retainers (as is Byrhtnoth) or at least one steadfast companion, such as Beowulf s Wiglaf. The gospel clearly states that Jesus died ignobly, in the most humiliating fashion possible, and that his disciples kept themselves from Golgotha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How can a man die honorably without treasure? The poet does not mention that Christ dies to fulfill a prophecy, one that is unavoidable and that he therefore calmly accepts. The notion of letting fate do its work doesn t seem to be on any of the other heroes agendas, either. Beowulf, for example, suspects that the dragon s laying waste to his kingdom may indeed be divine punishment but that doesn t stop him from going to its barrow and stabbing the creature in the belly. In fact, Beowulf clearly states It is a mystery where a courageous man will meet his fated end. . . [ll. 3063 4] . Interestingly, in Maldon, the ones on the battlefield who are described as fated to die are always the Vikings, the barbarians. On page 57, a Viking warrior s death is recounted thus: The fated warrior fell to earth. Whereas Byrhtnoth s sister s son chose death in battle, on the same page. The delineation is clear: a hero dies in battle, by choice; others let fate roll over them. The designation fated is never applied to the valorous. A medieval hero always seeks his own death, if by his sacrifice his kinsmen will benefit. This is why Beowulf willingly enters the den of his third and final monster: Now the edge of the sword, hand and hard blade, must fight for treasure. [ll. 2508 9] Treasure means security for his people; therefore he goes, refusing all help, because it is his duty to do well by his kingdom. The Rood poet points out ... The results that were achieved this tournamentwe re tremendous, we placed the highest any North Carolina club wrestlingteam has ever placed at Dual Team Nationals. My individual record was also undefeated as well and it was strenuous, to say the least but also rewarding. Day two we knew was going to be the toughest competition and most stressful. It s that day that by the end, you know basically what you are competing for. Whether it is for the championship title or to place overall top ten. All other competition gets done by the end of the second day and for that to happen means a profusion of matches. The first match of the day was against a very skillful Alabama team, we won respectfully and geared up for our next match. Giving it all I had was not enough nor was the whole team s full effort enough to defeat the notorious club team from New York. The loss was not taken lightly so we moved on knowing we needed to get two consecutive wins in order to make it in the top 10. At this point in time, I was very anxious to see how strong our team really is because I really thought we had more in us than what we put out on the mat the last match. My record was now 4 1 which was looking very impressive. Moving into our next match I had opened up the first match knowing it was important and I set the tone of the match I would say with a huge win over a multiple time state champion from the Florida team. My team won that match, meaning that we were going up against the returning champion team called Young Guns from Pennsylvania. That match was safe to say the most adrenaline I have had in my body going at one time. The match really came down to the final bouts of the match, making it a very grueling match to be a part of because all that was on my mind was the fact that with a huge win here means we sealed the deal the place top ten at the least! I and most of the team picked up very courageous wins over our opponents bringing us to victory in the end of that match. Sleeping that night seemed impossible because there was so much on my mind, I could not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As we all know, during the process of conducting an experiment, safety is the main concern. With the use of virtual laboratory, there is no safe concerns as compared to real laboratory. It is very useful especially when it comes to experiments that may cause harm to human body. Virtual laboratory also provide educational benefits. One of it is virtual laboratory let students to learn methodology, pedagogy and user friendly. In normal laboratory class, some student did not really able to understand some concepts that teach in the lab. However, studies have found that instead of using the real lab, it is easier for the students to learn difficult and complex concepts through the virtual laboratory. Studies also found that students are more active in learning in a virtual laboratory rather than in a real lab class. This is because virtual laboratory provides a user friendly environment and easy to understand the concepts. Experiments can be repeated many times and there are no inconveniences in failing the ...
