James Baldwin s Remember This House By James Baldwin
James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. His essays were
mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, mostly in mid 20th century
America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book length, for instance The Fire Next Time (1963), No
Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976). An unfinished manuscript, Remember
This House, was expanded upon and adapted for cinema as the Academy Award nominated
documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin was born August 2,
1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest writers, Baldwin broke new literary
ground with the exploration of racial and social issues in his many works. He was especially well
known for his essays on the black experience in America.
Baldwin was born to a young single mother, Emma Jones, at Harlem Hospital. She reportedly never
told him the name of his biological father. Jones married a Baptist minister named David Baldwin
when James was about three years old. Despite their strained relationship, he followed in his
stepfather s footsteps who he always referred to as his father during his early teen years. He served as
a youth minister in a Harlem Pentecostal church from the ages of 14 to 16.
Baldwin developed a passion for reading at an early age, and demonstrated a gift for writing during
his school years. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he worked on the
school s magazine

First Sight Is Real
In my own opinion I will explain to you if I think love at first sight is real. I believe that love at first
glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody because of
their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go out and propose
to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad decisions and later can
harm you.
When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well now
that we are older we just assume we are okay, and safe..but we actually aren t. Ted bundy is a good
example of this, Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by many of his young female
victims, traits he exploited to win their trust. He typically approached them in public places, feigning
injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them at
more secluded locations.. The victims trusted him, because he was handsome, and well spoken, so
they wouldn t of ever thought he was a bad person. Real courage is displayed in the book beowulf. He
was a man who would fight with honor and courage. He would even disarm his weapon if his enemy
didn t have anything to fight with. He jumped in a lake to fight a giant monster at ... Show more

Both the story and the movie revolves around a knight falling in love with a beautiful maiden. I don t
think there was much jousting in the book as much as the movie, but both the story and the movie

A Comparison Of Fences By August Wilson
The set and setting of a story has a significant impact on a story s plot. The setting establishes mood,
situation, and character (Mays 164). It tells you a lot about a character by revealing the character s
personality throughout the story. Setting also creates a strong emotion throughout the story, that the
audience can understand. In the film and play Fences by August Wilson we can see the impact of
setting in both versions of the story. The setting and characterization of the play and movie changes in
certain scenes, allowing the audience to make a comparison of the two. Overall, the film does a better
job depicting set and characterization.
Wilson s description of the set itself is very significant because it gives the reader a ... Show more

The rain and thundering outside during this scene made it the more powerful; it helped the viewer
understand that something serious was happening, and allowed the viewer to empathize.
Even though Troy wasn t fair to his wife, he took care of his family as a man should. He took care of
his sons with all that he had, but the love for his family was not evident in his character, especially
with what he did to Rose. Cheating on Rose was a very selfish, and disrespectful act that showed no
love towards his family. Troy s behavior stems from the relationship he had with his father when he
was a teenager. Without him knowing, Troy was very similar to his father, which was depicted very
well in the film. Troy s father stayed right there with his family. But he was just as evil as he could be
(Wilson 905). Troy s description of his father was the same person he was. In his conversation with
Cory he says to him, like you? I go out of here every morning...bust my butt...putting up with them
crackers everyday... cause I like you? You about the biggest fool I ever saw. It s my job. It s my
responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his family (898). This scene in the
movie showed more passion. A reader can read this scene in the play with whichever tone they choose,
but in the movie, we are able to see the and feel the passion from what Troy was

The Causes And Effects Of Television Shows In America
Over the years, the universal invention that has negatively affected our society is none other than the
television. Although it wasn t always so controversial, this contraption has become something that has
in ways damaged the United States. Television came out in the 1940 s and it started as a way to
entertain people and bring people a bit of joy to their stressful lives. It wasn t such a terrible thing
when people could just indulge in one episode or two. Now, rather than using it as something to be
entertained with every now and then, people have become addicted. Television can cause deep issues
in America by giving out false information, increasing laziness, and decreasing communication in
people s households. Shows on television have many times been known to feed the people of the
United States with incorrect information on topics that are important to and concern the nation.
Whether it is a show on news, comedy, or romance, the directors of these shows seem to pay little to
no attention to the facts they release on their programs. In 2005, the medical drama called Grey s
Anatomy was first aired and since then the show has surpassed eight million views as of 2015. Except,
the show has been known by researchers to give out false information about seizure care:
In nearly 46 percent of seizure cases, characters on these shows delivered inappropriate treatments
such as holding the person down, trying to stop involuntary movements or putting something in the

Legal Representation In Court Cases
As the need for legal representation continues to grow across all segments of our population, new and
innovative types of legal representation have developed. Limited scope representation, or discrete task
representation, allows an attorney to represent a person only in agreed upon portions of his or her legal
case. California Rule of Court 3.35 specifically defines limited scope representation as a relationship
between an attorney and a person seeking legal services in which they have agreed that the scope of
the legal services will be limited to the specific tasks that the attorney will perform for the person.
This method of legal representation provides not only a way for individuals to decrease their legal
costs, but also to exert greater control over and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in a divorce, an individual might hire a California family law attorney on a limited scope
basis to handle the property division aspects of a divorce, such as the division of a spouse s pension.
However, the individual might decide to handle all of the other aspects of the divorce himself or
herself, such as custody, visitation and child support, particularly if the parties are already in
agreement on those issues. Not every type of legal matter is suitable for limited scope representation.
Some legal issues tend to be extremely complex and necessitate a degree of expertise that only an
attorney can offer. The types of cases that traditionally work well with limited scope representation
include family law matters, landlord tenant disputes, and certain consumer advocacy cases. By
engaging an attorney on a limited scope, an individual who normally could not afford to hire an
attorney has access to at least some degree of legal

The Collapse Of Washington Mutual Essay
J.P. Morgan planned to close branches of Washington Mutual that J.P. Morgan was already settled and
successful in.
Sidel, Robin, David Enrich, and Dan Fitzpatrick. WaMu Is Seized, Sold Off to J.P. Morgan, In Largest
Failure in U.S. Banking History. WSJ. Wsj.com, 26 Sept. 2008, 25 Nov. 2016.
Sidel, Enrich, and Fitzpatrick discuss what lead to the collapse of Washington Mutual back in 2008.
Leading up to the collapse of Washington Mutual, the downfall of the housing market was impacting
the mortgage portfolios of Washington Mutual. A month before the collapse the bank tried to auction
itself off, with little to no offers. Washington Mutual s customers began pulling out their deposits,
reaching $16.7 billion in just a couple days after Lehman Brothers had filed for bankruptcy protection
on September 15, 2008. Because of the overwhelming amount of deposits that had been pulled from
the bank, Washington Mutual did not have enough cash or liquidity resources to meet their obligations
and in turn proved to be an unsafe bank to do business with. The FDIC rapidly set a deadline for offers
by parties interested in taking over the bank on a Wednesday instead of the usual Friday that the FDIC
has been known to do in the past. Eventually on that Thursday, J.P. Morgan bought Washington
Mutual for $1.9 billion. J.P. Morgan was able to start business in states that they had not been apart of
before including California and Florida, where Washington Mutual had over 900 branches located.

James Hurst s Short Story The Scarlet Ibis
Imagine having a brother who is incapable of doing anything for himself. James Hurst s short story
tells the tale of a young boy in this position and the way his mindset is. In the short story The Scarlet
Ibis, James Hurst uses imagery, setting, and motif to convey Brother s feelings of guilt. By using these
literary elements, Hurst allows the readers to take a deeper look into Brother s perception towards
Doodle at the time.
Hurst uses imagery to show how Brother feels guilt for causing Doodle to die. I ran as fast as I could,
leaving him far behind with a wall of rain dividing us. Brother remembers when Doodle says Brother,
Brother, Don t leave me! Don t leave me! Brother feels guilt for leaving Doodle once before. When
Brother runs away from Doodle, he is not actually running away from him, he is running away from
the guilt which Doodle causes him to feel. Brother looks at Doodle and feels guilty for leaving him at
a time of trouble before. Hurst uses the rain as a way to symbolize guilt and sorrow. What are you
crying for They did not know that I did it for myself, that pride, whose slave I was, spoke to me louder
than all their voices. In this scene, Hurst shows the guilt in this scene using imagery by showing us
Brother crying. This is Hurst s way of showing us guilt. When Brother cries, it is because he feels
guilty of his motivation. His only reason for helping Doodle was because he was ashamed of having a
crippled brother .

up the book Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi. Persepolis is a horrifying, yet witty memoir about a young
girl, named Marji, who has grown up throughout the pre and post Islamic Revolution. Marji expresses
the element of lostness during this troubling time period. She shares her experience with the world
through a series of comic strips. The book is initiated in 1979. At this time Marji is only nine years of
age. War was beginning to erupt and everything Marji thought she knew was now questioned. Marji,
who once thought that she was destined to become a prophet, grew a strong hatred towards God.
Young, naïve Marji now had developed bomb routines.

Writing Assignment # 1: Interview a Business Owner

For my interview I decided to pick the owner of the company I work for. The owner s name is J. Kent
McNew and he is the owner of Eastern Petroleum Corporation. The company is a petroleum
distributor of gasoline primarily through gas station outlets. Eastern Petroleum Corporation is a
Maryland corporation and its corporate office is located in Annapolis, MD. Mr. McNew sells products

It also let me learn different things about the man who I work for, like where he came up with the
name and color of the company. But as I compare this interview to some of the information I ve read
in my textbook there are more advantages and disadvantages to being a corporation compared to other
business structures. The first advantage is the ownership change, it s easy to change owners of a
corporation all it takes is selling the stock to someone else. The disadvantage would be the extensive
paper work you have to file in order to start the corporation. After interviewing my business owner it
made me think about if I were to go into business what business structure would I want ,and what
would I name my business ,and what trade would I use. I decided on naming my company Whitsitt
Associates, I would have a business structure of sole proprietorship and I would have the trade of
owning a financial company. In conclusion I enjoyed this first project of interviewing the owner of my
company. It gave me a better understanding about what it takes to be a business owner; it let me get a
small taste of what life is like in business owners a shoe. It also taught me a lot of new and interesting
things I didn t know about the history of the

The River Runs Through It Essay
Paul and Norman grew up in the same household, with the same values, but from their fishing styles,
to their jobs and educations, to their social lives, their differences amount to those of night and day.
While boys, young in age and mindsets, Paul and Norman learned to fish from Mr. Maclean. This
factor had vast significance because, in this preacher s family, a clear line between fishing and religion
had no presence. Mr. Maclean taught his sons the conventional four count.
As Paul matured, he converted, from using the common four count, to something a bit more
innovative, shadow casting. The technique wasn t the only thing he altered. He also caught fish for
quality, which leaked with palpability when he told Norman he aspired to ... Show more content on

As far as his gambling goes, I never, even once saw Norman gamble. He didn t drink very often either.
Once, he went to see Paul at his office and seemed disappointed in his brother s drinking early in the

I have pondered the question, How can two people, who grew up with the same parents, at the same
time turn out so differently? I m not exactly sure as to why, but I speculate it has to do with not just
one, single, factor. I believe the answer lies in a combination of birth order, looks, and the fact that
separate people will act separately. Whether it s in the way they fish, to the jobs they choose, to the
friends and activities they surround themselves with, different people will behave differently. Since
watching this movie, I have noticed that, as Americans, we look down on uniqueness, yet embrace
independence and freedom. I almost think this movie was made in order to show the viewers the
importance of

Critical Disability In Titus Andronicus
Some say revenge is a dish best served cold, but in Titus Andronicus this dish is served piping hot and
bloody. One of the literary themes presented is critical disability study. Critical disability is when
somebody stands out from the norm. One study talks about being socially disabled and not being able
to fit in with the rest of the group in the story. Another study talks about the definition of normality,
and how those who don t fit into that category affect the story as a whole. Another story talks about
how being disabled in a certain way acts as a catalyst for a character and fuels their actions from then
on. In Titus Andronicus each of these forms of critical disability are present. Titus and Lavinia are
both crippled in a multitude of ways physically. However, there are other characters who have a
disability that cripples them; Aaron the Moor, Tamora queen of the goths, and Saturninus the Emperor.
They are crippled in different ways through their views and actions. These crippled characters are a
major part of the story. If they were not present or the things that crippled them were not present then
the story would not be viewed in the same light. Looking at physical disabilities, there is the loss of
Lavinia s hands and tongue. Before her incident she is evidently vibrant and full of life. There is one
scene where the emperor, who just said he was going to marry lavinia, hits on Tamora and even tells
Lavinia that Tamora is more beautiful and she makes a snide

the South. Lynching, just like every other method of dehumanization, was seen as the most effective

lynching s, there is not one that completely covers the history of lynching s. Because of Americas
general biases there is no reliable source that details the records of lynching s in America, prior to
1882. (chicagotribune.com) Following the Chicago Tribune s report the Tuskegee Institute produced a
report in 1892 where they began to make a systematic composition of lynching statistics. Beginning in
1912, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People kept an independent record of
lynching s. The statistics reported were primarily based on newspaper reports. Because of the sheer
size of the south and the nature of it more rural nature, its districts had not always been in close

The Movement Of Participatory Design
Abstract
This report seeks to understand the movement of Participatory Design (PD) and how it has influenced
Information Systems Design since the 1990s. Has the body of knowledge around Participatory Design
made an impact on how organisations today approach the design of information systems? Can it work
in a global context? What tools have been developed as a reaction to this movement? Can we ever
really design a system that meets the needs of all stakeholders due to those at the heart of human
centred design all providing unique perspectives? These are some of the questions we asked while
trying to understand this subject.
Having undertaken a detailed literature review of the subject we identify the key success factors

According to him Participatory Design (PD) leads to hybrid practices that can take place neither in the
user s base, nor the technology developer, but the in between region . He calls this a third space a
fertile environment in which participants can combine diverse knowledge into new insights and plans
for action.
Participatory Design was born in Scandinavia with its heart originating in Industrial Relations.
Originally it was known as cooperative design. Later when it was introduced to the US community,
the name cooperative was changed for participatory to resonate better with strong separation between
workers and managers. (Wikipedia, 2015).
PD research began in the mid 1970 s as a reaction to the ways in which computer based systems were
introduced in the workplace and to the deleterious effects these systems were having on workers
(dislocations, deskilling, etc.) (Kening Blomberg, 1998). The authors stress there were a lot of debates
taking place at the time in Scandinavia and Germany about the introduction of computers at work. The
main discussion point was that technology neglected workers interests, and it was just another
management tool to control workforce but not toimprove working conditions. Workers and their
unions were concerned that the introduction of computers would reduce their control over their
immediate work situation as well as the overall planning and administration of production (Kening
Blomberg, 1998).

Introduction Counseling is defined as the use of therapeutic strategies to help clients address personal
concerns and mental health issues (Nystul, 2016). Pursuing counseling as a career involves many
years of formal study and certification or licensure. After receiving licensure to practice as a
professional counselors it is a requirement to maintain involvement and certification in certain
associations in order to hold your license. These association often require further education and/or
professional practice in order to maintain membership in these associations. It is quite obvious that
counseling requires a large amount of commitment and passion in order to pursue it as a career and
maintain a title as a counselor. I have conducted an interview with a professional counselor in order to
further understand the experience of being a counselor. The interview that I conducted explores the
requirements of maintaining and receiving a counselling career, the experience of being a counselor,
and what characteristics or skills a professional may have. The Individual who agreed to the interview
was a counselor by the name of Susie Facio. Susie Facio, through this interview, will be giving us a
look at what influenced her to become a counselor, what her work entails on a day to day basis, and
what qualities and skills she has acquired in order to become a successful counselor.

The Problem Of India Is The Sixth Largest Nation With An...
Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 PROBLEM SUMMARY AND INTRODCTION 1.1.1 Problem
summary India is the seventh largest nation with an area of 3.287 million km2. Moreover, it is a
relatively rich and rapidly developing country; for this reason demand for electricity is growing on
significantly average at around 5% annually. In addition, one of the most fascinating aspects of solar
cells is their ability to convert the most abundant and free forms of energy into electricity without
moving parts or components. Also, they do not produce any adverse forms of pollution that affect the
ecosystem. India s rooftop solar capacity addition grew 66 percent from last year to reach 525 mega
watts. The state power grid system has supplied electricity to approximately 80% of the population
living in the state capitals and industrial centres. Based on recent studies, PV technology and
application is economically viable to be adopted in tropical countries like India where it receives more
than 7 hours of direct sunlight each day throughout the year. Hence, India now tends to move on the
new trend of solar energy. To measure the data continuously was not an easy task for earlier
technology because of lack in advancement of software technology. So, we have used LabVIEW
software for continuous measurement. It provides all the facilities in one place. The LabVIEW

Personal Reflection Of Personal Goals In The Honey Whiskey...
When I began pursuing my MFA in writing, I knew what I wanted my thesis to be, I just needed some
guidance in order to get there. I had completed my first novel, Seeking Signs, which weaves a
narrative around an Iowa crime in 1913 and won the Midwest Book Award for historical fiction from
the Midwest Independent Publishers Association in 2013. The research and writing that went into it
caused me to fall in love with the process and look for another challenge, one even more complex than
the first. Through my MFA pursuits, I wanted to hone my research skills, improve my ability to
establish vivid historical imagery, and gain a solid foothold on the voice necessary to tell my next tale.
My goals for the second novel, The Honey Whiskey Murders, began with exploring untapped research
avenues. While I had a plot in mind, I knew it was important to stay open to the unexpected places the
information took me. The research that went into the project was so entertaining, it was sometimes
difficult to force myself to sit down and write.
I read Murder and Mayhem in Clinton County, Iowa, a book published by the Clinton County
historical museum which includes a compilation of all newspaper articles covering both solved and
unsolved murders from the area dating back to the mid 1800s. The case of Homer and Rosela
Brownfield is one of many unsolved murders in my home county. The Brownfield murders made
headlines as far away as Ohio; these reports sensationalized the crime with statements

The Traditional Architectural Style in the Early 19th...
In this essay I am aim to explore Pugin s dissent from tradition through his ideas, inspiration, and his
most important works and their meaning. To dissent from tradition is to defy a stultifying tradition or
convention, which leads to new, daring styles (Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.109). The
traditional architectural style in the early 19th Century, in Great Britain was classicism, inspired by
ancient Greece and associated with democracy as well as with the French revolution (Richardson,
McKellar, Woods, 2008, p. 112). Pugin, called this classical style the new square style (Figure 4.7, in
Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.123) and argued that it lacked authenticity of Great Britain
(Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pugin found his inspiration while travelling to other European countries, particularly in Germany,
where the Roman Catholic Church was predominant. (Lűbeck, St Chad s and Religious Art, 2009).
Building without teaching and explaining is almost useless , Pugin stated, to stress out the importance
of writing about architecture. In his written works, he strongly attacked the era or Reformation and
Protestantism saying that men must learn that the period hitherto called dark and ignorant far excelled
our age and wisdom ... (Pugin, 2003(1842) pp16 17, in Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.120)
and looked down on the neo classicism of his time (Figure 4.7, Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008,
p.123). In his book Contrasts ; he called the current classic style a decay of taste . In the book, he used
plates which contrasted the Middle Ages, 14th and 15th Century, with 19th Century. In one example,
he presented the Middle Age chapel in all its glory and with a focus on the beautiful altar, while the
19th Century chapel looks more like a theatre and as though it lacks the spiritual feel (Plate 2.4.7,
Illustration book, p. 64). The former one highly resembles the St. Chad s cathedral that Pugin designed
later on in life (Introduction, St Chad s and Religious Art, 2009). The two styles of chapels also meant
different functioning while the central plan of the Protestant Church put the preacher in the middle and

The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation
The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of the
most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is infamous
for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack of unity
about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous period,
added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Articles formed a loosely
united country under a highly restricted federal government. This apparent aversion of strong central
government was rooted in the former colonists fear of a sequel to their monarchial horror that was
England. Some believe that the Articles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Five years earlier, in a letter from the Rhode Island Assembly to Congress the assembly concluded
that taxation on imported goods creates inequality between the commercial and the agrarian societies
of America (Document 1). The Rhode Island Assembly brings up the idea that state governments were
allowed to tax freely without congressional regulation, while Congress posed to levy importation taxes
geared towards the Northern, more commercial part of America. This letter speaks to the injustices of
taxation, and taxation was the main reason for Shays s Rebellion. Shays s Rebellion caused that unjust
and disorganized means of taxation further exemplifies the failure that was the Articles of
Confederation. The final reason why the Articles of Confederation created an ineffective government
is inadequate foreign affairs. Prior to the revolution, the thirteen colonies were not united as they did
not need to be they were all there for the purpose and betterment of Great Britain. As the colonists
won their independence, almost every state began producing a different type of currency, untracked
and unregulated by the new federal government. This total disunity left the states in competition over
exports with one another. This competition left the country as a whole weak, and other countries
perception of us the same. In the table that compares the value of exports to Great Britain to the

The Founding of Our Nations Government Essay
The Founding of Our Nations Government
The Articles of Confederation were extremely important in the founding of our government today. The
Articles gave us a sort of good base to start from, and was ground breaking in the shaping of our new
nation.
The Articles of Confederation were written by a Second Continental Congressional committee during
the early part of the American Revolution in 1777. A report of the proposed articles was presented to
the committee by John Dickson (committee head) just eight days after the signing of the Declaration
Of Independence.
The fear of the 13 colonies was to have a powerful central government, as they did in Great Britain.

original states except Rhode Island, collectively appointed 70 individuals to the Constitutional
Convention, but a number did not accept or could not attend. Those who did not attend included
Thomas Jefferson, Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, John Adams, Samuel Adams, and John

signed the Constitution. The delegates ranged in age from Jonathon Dayton, aged 26, and to Benjamin
Franklin at 81 years of age, who was very sick at the time.
The plan of the delegates was to remedy the defects in the Articles of Confederation, but Virginia
delegates had a new idea in mid and boldly proposed the Virginia Plan, which introduced a whole new
national government instead of the confederation. The New Jersey Plan was also presented as an
alternative, but it was based mainly on autonomous states being represented by a single chamber.
When bicameral legislation was approved it effectively made the decision for the Virginia Plan, and

Banks Are Caterers For The Economy Of A Country
Banks are caterers for the economy in a Country. From the start ofbanking two thousand years ago in

Banking system is one of the many institutions that impinges on any economy and affects its
performance for the better or the worse. In what measure a given banking system contributes to
economic development depends upon the governing policy of the Government. As a rule, banking
systems are adapted to the structure and needs of the particular economy they exist in. Indian

The Great Depression Was The Single Most Devastating...
The Great Depression was the single most devastating economic catastrophe that had resounding
effects and consequences on people all over the world. Did the various expansionary monetary
policies employed by the Fed help the US pull out of the Great Depression during the Hoover
administration? What was done differently after Roosevelt became president? Many economists and
historians have argued that the misguided monetary policies during the Hoover administration
including the mistiming of interest hike, allowance of the decrease in national money supply and
reluctance in expansionary monetary policies due to the maintenance of the gold standard were
contributive to the length and severity of the Great Depression. Several estimates from various models
have suggested that the mistakes made in the monetary policies during the same period contributed to
around 20 to 70% of the decline in real output during the Hoover administration (Fishback, 2010, pg
386). After the Roosevelt administration took control in 1933, recovery began primarily due to the
abandonment of the gold standard and the appointment of Eugene Black as the Chair of the Federal
Reserve. This argument is backed by numerous case studies, economic models, and research papers.
Researching these two questions would provide a deeper insight into some of the monetary policies
implemented today and also make sure that history doesn t repeat itself. Facts presented below

ERP Implementation on the Company s Business Processes: Budgeting
Nowadays, information and the value of information become the very important things, especially in
the business concepts. Therefore, the company is like a race against the time to manage all resources
in a single integrated database to supply real time data. They are implementing a computer software as
well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), an information system which is used to integrate and
control all company resources (Mabert 2003). There are at least three stages of the key success factors
of ERP implementation in an enterprise: the planning effort, the implementation decision, and the
implementation management. The first factor, planning effort, is all stages before ERP project
commencing such as executive support and their contribution in the project planning, team formation,
and technology issues. Implementation decision, as the second key success factor, is the strategies to
implement the project, such as the big bang approach or the phased in approach, include software
customization and re engineering. The last factor, management implementation, is all actions or
variations during the project implementation (Mabert 2003). In conjunction with the key factors of
ERP implementation mentioned above, this essay aims to discuss the benefits as well as the
disadvantages of ERP, then to analyze the role of ERP in supporting budgeting process.

Five Motivation Theories
In today s working stressful environment, motivation is necessary for more productivity. Motivation is
considered as force to achieve specific goals. In an organization a manager or leader should always
motivate his/her subordinates to perform work. There are number of motivational theories given by
social scientist. But we will focus on the five main theories which are given below:
Hertzberg s two factor theory
Maslow s hierarchy of needs
Hawthorne effect
Expectancy theory
Three dimensional theory of attribution
I will explain these theories in detail and how they can be implemented in work environment.
Hertzberg s two factor theory this theory is also known as dual factor theory or motivation hygiene
theory. In 1950, psychologist Frederick Hertzberg developed motivational theory. After the research
among various employees, Hertzberg found that below two factor influence employees satisfaction
and motivation:
Motivational factors: these factors increase satisfaction and motivation among employees. Some of
these factors are promotion, recognition of work and enjoying the work. As I mentioned these factors
increase satisfaction and motivation, but their absence does not create dissatisfaction among
employees.
Hygiene factors: In the absence of these factors, employees don t feel motivated and satisfied.
Examples of these factors are relationship with managers and co workers, salary, benefits, company
policies.

What Is The Causes Of The Roaring Twenties
The Roaring Twenties
The Era of Wonderful Nonsense was one of the biggest turning points in American history. The
political, social, and economic aspect of society had a major influence on progression and
advancement during this time period. Vast changes led Americans to reform society, and bring forth a
more preferred way of life. With this came about a new meaning of freedom and understanding of
American values.
The 1920 s was a time of mixed feelings. There were moments of bliss and moments of despair that
impacted society tremendously. After the victory of WWI a lot of tension in the United States arose.
The overwhelming change post war, was the main cause of this tension that divided society in half. It
was divided amongst those who could accept change and those who wouldn t.
Before the war America was seen as an imperial power. America had continuously expanded beyond
its borders, which led to the open door policy, Hawaii annexed, and the acquiring of the Philippines
and Puerto Rico. The open door policy allowed free flow of trade, investment, information and culture.
America did it s best to create a welcoming economic environment with caribbean countries, so that
american companies could have stable access to raw material. There was a huge global movement of
people, especially into the United States due to industrial expansion. The U.S. realized their way to
strengthen their role in the global economy was to increase foreign relations. Everything seemed well
in America until World War I.
World War I pitted the Central Powers mainly Germany, Austria Hungary, and Turkey against the
Allies mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and eventually the United States in 1917. It
ended with the defeat of the Central Powers and a ridiculous amount of slaughter, and destruction.
World War I led to the fall of four great imperial dynasties: Germany, Russia, Austria Hungary, and
Turkey. This resulted in the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. In the end Germany got blamed for all
that occurred during the war.The Treaty of Versailles, was the peace document signed at the end of
World War I by the Allies and Germany. It reassigned German s boundaries and assigned liability for
reparations. The German government

Looking For Alaska by John Green
Looking For Alaska by John Green is a coming of age story focused on a shy and friendless fifteen
year old boy named Miles Halter. He leaves his home in Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory
School in Alabama, seeking his Great Perhaps (Green 5). It is important to note that this novel is
written in two parts, before and after. Before, Miles fits in perfect at Culver Creek where he meets his
first true friends, Chip The Colonel Martin and Alaska Young. His friends help him adjust to life at the
boarding school by teaching him to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and pull pranks with the best of
them. Miles begins to fall helplessly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In after, however, the World Religions class becomes a focal point for wrestling with the suffering
following Alaska s death (Dean 24). This quote, while talking about the religion class, sums up the
before and after structure perfectly. Before, Pudge s labyrinth was navigating Alaska s changes in
character and his almost imaginary image of her, however after her death, he finds himself in a real
life labyrinth of pain and despair, which he only escapes by forgiveness. I found Miles to be extremely
relatable. For the first part of the book, he is experiencing the same things that I, and probably most
other high school students, experienced. This makes it easy to understand his thought process and
reasoning. That being said, he is a complete pushover. I would consider him to be the epitome of a
follower. This turns out to be a major problem for him when he refuses to stand up to Alaska driving
under the influence of alcohol. Having had friends try to drink and drive numerous times, I know that
no one wants to be that guy, but his unwillingness to put his foot down ended up costing him dearly.
John Green addresses a very serious problem that faces many people in today s society. Under no
circumstances should one allow another person to drink and drive, and I felt as though he taught this
lesson in the best way possible. Readers see the huge mistake that Miles and his friends made, and
will hopefully use it as a reference when put in a similar position,

You may be considering migrating (upsizing) your database to SQL Server because:
a) As the number of users increases, the file sharing mechanism of a Microsoft Access database may
result in a slower performance and increased network traffic. The client/server environment of
Microsoft SQL Server is designed for a large number of users and minimizing network traffic.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 can support databases of up to 2 terabytes in size.
b) SQL Server 2000 is an XML enabled database server that allows you to access the server through a

Modern Society Is Unethical Using The Emulation Theory
Aristotle argues that the pattern of status competition in American society is unethical using the
emulation theory. According to Aristotle, humans are the most imitative of all creatures and status
competition is a cycle of mutual emulation. Emulation is a pain which is caused by the presence of
good things that are highly valued. How emulation works is that there is the person who is doing the
emulation, the individual who is being emulated, and then relationship between the two. The second
individual provides a model for the first individual, who then decides they are similar to the model.

selling. Aristotle also stated that some people are only concerned with keeping up with their
neighbors, copying their every move. It becomes a life obsession, and that was the main idea of the
movie. Aristotle believes in order to follow the mean and be rational, one must avoid excess or
deficiency by asking themselves if they re emulating at the right times and places? Do you actually
need to consume? Are you consuming the right amount of goods? How will my emulating affect
myself or those around me? Aristotle reaches several conclusions on virtue and describes it as a state
of character, and what it means for a human to be virtuous. For example, the excellence of the eye

Tower Of Babel Analysis
The story of the Tower of Babel is one of the well known stories that can be found in the book of
Genesis. This story explains why we encounter different languages around the world. As readers
analyze this story, one can understand that it has a deeper meaning than just pertaining to be a simple
story to be read out aloud. As a matter of fact, there happen to be many questions throughout the story
that many raises to why God did that specific action in the story. If one sits down and carefully
understand the moral lesson, one can figure out easily the main purpose of having this story in the
Bible. To sum up, the story of the Tower of Babel contains numerous teachings and answers to the
questions many readers arise while reading. After studying Genesis 11:1 9, it was clear to why God
did not want the people to finish the city and the tower for a couple of reasons. First of all, God
noticed people filling their hearts with pride and arrogance which was not a good sign to be seen.
Hence, he confused everyone s language so that it could become harder for them to work together and
communicate to finish building the tower. As a result, everyone got scattered to other places and the
tower never got finished completely. In the Bible, it says, ...let us build us a city and a tower...let us
make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth (King James Version,
Gen. 11.4). In other words, God saw that people started building the tower not to worship God,

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Birth Order Book By Dr. Kevin...
Some say that people are just who they are, that a person no matter their origin or upbringing will end
up exactly how they are and ultimately who they were meant to become, but what if they were wrong?
Why am I loud and vivacious, yet my younger sister is quiet and shy, and my brother is more
protective over my youngest sister and ignores me? What makes anyone the person that they are?
Sure, the things that happen at school mold people, but the real developments happen at home. An
individual s personality is solely based upon the order and the timing of birth in relation to their
siblings, if any. A well renowned psychologist, Dr. Kevin Leman employs effective elements of
rhetoric in his book, The Birth Order Book: Why You Are the Way You ... Show more content on

Leman s use of rhetorical questions, anecdotes, and use of metaphor provides a compelling base for
his argument and helps it apply to all readers. Especially in the introduction Leman has paragraphs
filled with rhetorical questions much like this one, Do you wonder why you feel compelled to act a
certain way like you ve been programmed? Why does he ask all these questions? the reader might ask,
however that s the whole point of asking them to begin with, to get the reader curious, to get them to
wonder the possibility that his theory is valid, so his rhetorical questions are effective. Throughout the
book Leman tells of so many of his own stories I cannot begin to count them, but the stories he adds
make it sound as though the reader and he are having a conversation between friends. Again another
effective use of literary devices to preserve his hold upon the audience. Leman s identifying name for
children are little cubs. No, children are not little cubs, yet the reader can easily identify what and who
he is referring to. This use of metaphor allows the reader to feel let in on a joke. All of Dr. Kevin
Leman s rhetorical and literary devices are entered to make the audience comfortable and feel
included so that they may continue to read and eventually believe in his take on the birth order

Parent Child Relationship Essay
How Parents can Better Love Understand Their Kids
Theresa Gusler
Liberty University
CCOU 302
Abstract
This paper is about showing your children that you love them by promoting boundaries. It will explain
what kids really want their parents know and understand. This paper also gets down to the basics of
how to be a beacon of hope in this dark world. Show how to help our children maneuver through
troubling situations by giving them positive values to fall back on. Love is the common thread which
binds us together and without love, boundaries and discipline would not succeed the way it is meant
to. This paper looks at different ways to be active at home, how to have a joy filled home, and how to

Ziglar also said, A solid foundation for children involves a solid moral base meaning...you need to
practice what you preach.
You need to look for and expect good from your children, stop looking at the bad and negative things
and look for the good and positive in them and they will bloom (Ziglar, 1998, p. 51). Be specific when
you find something good in your child, tell them what it is exactly and continue to lift them up.
Being Available as an Emotion Coach
According to Gottman (1997),
We need to help our kids deal with their emotions by being their emotion coaches and we do that with
five steps 1) by being aware of their emotion, 2) recognize the emotion as a time for intimacy and
teaching, 3) listen to them and validate their feelings, 4) help label the emotion with words and 5) set
limits while finding ways to solve the problem (p.24).
In step one, the focus is on recognizing when you are feeling an emotion, you can identify the
feelings, and you are able to be sensitive to emotions in others (p. 76). Step two, when parents can use
a negative experience to bring forth bonding with their children it builds intimacy and it teaches them
how to deal with their feelings (p.93). During step three, two things take place, listening
empathetically and validating the child s feelings. Gottman suggests that this may be the most
important step in emotion coaching! Not only are you listening with your ears, but you are

Data Sheets Of Multiphase Pumps
The current study is an effort to analyse existing secondary data which includes professional journals,
industry reports, past research on related topics and data sheets of multiphase pumps (MPPs) so as to
understand the efficiencies and advantages brought in by MPPs in multiphase pumping conditions.
The study also attempts to provide a general criterion of a pump for a particular process during
production. It is understood that fluids pumped from off shore oil wells will essentially pump
multiphase fluids at all times up to separation stage. Also, oil wells undergo changes in gas volume
fraction and watercut during the lifecycle of the well including testing, installation, initial phase of
pumping, in established and operational oil wells, an aging oil well and during abandonment.
The criterion to choose a multiphase boosting solution for any oil well system is very subjective and in
most cases is dependent on the pump manufacturer or system packager data. Such a situation may
result in over dependence on the vendors and probably camouflage other available technologies or
limitations in the known technology. The study will compare both the manufacturer data sheets as well
as the available data on multiphase pump performance in oil wells across the globe. The available
literature on the subject only indicates that certain type of pump is suitable for a given application but
does not provide a generalized set of criterion for deciding up on a pump for a particular field

Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay
Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially the
science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical twins will
tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who are anxious and
there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there are those who are
highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just plain shy. It is this issue
of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of personality.
Johnny Depp, born June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky self proclaimed barbeque capital of the
world has led an interesting life filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking trait
perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this
convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their
disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another,
explanations of personality will become so much easier.
The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and their
personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with, among other
things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking, which is what
most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In understanding Johnny
Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a complete theory, it can
explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous movie star, integrates other
theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning perspectives, thus providing a fairly
reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality.
As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for secure
work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels, shifting
from place to place. This no doubt took a

Racist Mascots Research Paper
Native Americans are often offended by racist nicknames, logos, and stereotypes in sports. The
Washington Redskins and many other teams are facing this. this makes teams look ignorant. Mascots
imply that all Natives have to be a dark brown color, have big noses, and long wavy black hair.
Examples of these stereotypical mascots are the Washington Redskins, FSU, Cherokee Braves, and
any other school with a racist mascot. Native Americans find that when we use their people as mascots
we are making them look like savages. Native Americans are offended by racist nicknames, logos, and
stereotypes in sports. Using Native American images and names in professional, collegiate, and high
school sports teams does reinforce and perpetuate stereotypes.

Online Shopping Problems
Introduction
There is no doubt that traditional brick and mortar retailers like us have seen a decline in sales since
the increased growth of e commerce. After researching the topic at hand, I have identified the issues
we face, and devised several solutions to aid us in our competition with online retailers.
Issues Sears Faces
The problem is, online retail is becoming the go to for convenience and customer service while brick
and mortar stores are struggling with sales growth. This problem is not only a Sears s exclusive
problem, but a shift in the way customers are shopping today. In order to further examine this issue, I
have first compared how other large brick and mortar retailers are doing in their battles with Amazon.
Walmart, for example, has seen incredibly slow growth while Amazon, is growing on an exponential
level. According to a 2014 article by fool.com, Walmart s five year projected annual earnings growth
rate was only about 7.9% while Amazon s was 46.6% (Duggan, 2014).
Consumers are turning to online retailers for cheaper prices, a more convenient shopping experience,
fast delivery, and a new technologically advanced way to shop. Traditional retailers are in a price
battle with stores like amazon that offer the same or similar products cheaper online. Many times
customers will even go to brick and mortar stores just to see the product in person before shopping for
better deals online. Shopping online has taken customers from brick and mortar stores

  • 2. James Baldwin s Remember This House By James Baldwin James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. His essays were mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, mostly in mid 20th century America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book length, for instance The Fire Next Time (1963), No Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976). An unfinished manuscript, Remember This House, was expanded upon and adapted for cinema as the Academy Award nominated documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin was born August 2, 1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest writers, Baldwin broke new literary ground with the exploration of racial and social issues in his many works. He was especially well known for his essays on the black experience in America. Baldwin was born to a young single mother, Emma Jones, at Harlem Hospital. She reportedly never told him the name of his biological father. Jones married a Baptist minister named David Baldwin when James was about three years old. Despite their strained relationship, he followed in his stepfather s footsteps who he always referred to as his father during his early teen years. He served as a youth minister in a Harlem Pentecostal church from the ages of 14 to 16. Baldwin developed a passion for reading at an early age, and demonstrated a gift for writing during his school years. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he worked on the school s magazine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. First Sight Is Real In my own opinion I will explain to you if I think love at first sight is real. I believe that love at first glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody because of their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go out and propose to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad decisions and later can harm you. When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well now that we are older we just assume we are okay, and safe..but we actually aren t. Ted bundy is a good example of this, Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by many of his young female victims, traits he exploited to win their trust. He typically approached them in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them at more secluded locations.. The victims trusted him, because he was handsome, and well spoken, so they wouldn t of ever thought he was a bad person. Real courage is displayed in the book beowulf. He was a man who would fight with honor and courage. He would even disarm his weapon if his enemy didn t have anything to fight with. He jumped in a lake to fight a giant monster at ... • 4. A Comparison Of Fences By August Wilson The set and setting of a story has a significant impact on a story s plot. The setting establishes mood, situation, and character (Mays 164). It tells you a lot about a character by revealing the character s personality throughout the story. Setting also creates a strong emotion throughout the story, that the audience can understand. In the film and play Fences by August Wilson we can see the impact of setting in both versions of the story. The setting and characterization of the play and movie changes in certain scenes, allowing the audience to make a comparison of the two. Overall, the film does a better job depicting set and characterization. Wilson s description of the set itself is very significant because it gives the reader a ... The rain and thundering outside during this scene made it the more powerful; it helped the viewer understand that something serious was happening, and allowed the viewer to empathize. Even though Troy wasn t fair to his wife, he took care of his family as a man should. He took care of his sons with all that he had, but the love for his family was not evident in his character, especially with what he did to Rose. Cheating on Rose was a very selfish, and disrespectful act that showed no love towards his family. Troy s behavior stems from the relationship he had with his father when he was a teenager. Without him knowing, Troy was very similar to his father, which was depicted very well in the film. Troy s father stayed right there with his family. But he was just as evil as he could be (Wilson 905). Troy s description of his father was the same person he was. In his conversation with Cory he says to him, like you? I go out of here every morning...bust my butt...putting up with them crackers everyday... cause I like you? You about the biggest fool I ever saw. It s my job. It s my responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his family (898). This scene in the movie showed more passion. • 5. The Causes And Effects Of Television Shows In America Over the years, the universal invention that has negatively affected our society is none other than the television. Although it wasn t always so controversial, this contraption has become something that has in ways damaged the United States. Television came out in the 1940 s and it started as a way to entertain people and bring people a bit of joy to their stressful lives. It wasn t such a terrible thing when people could just indulge in one episode or two. Now, rather than using it as something to be entertained with every now and then, people have become addicted. Television can cause deep issues in America by giving out false information, increasing laziness, and decreasing communication in people s households. Shows on television have many times been known to feed the people of the United States with incorrect information on topics that are important to and concern the nation. Whether it is a show on news, comedy, or romance, the directors of these shows seem to pay little to no attention to the facts they release on their programs. In 2005, the medical drama called Grey s Anatomy was first aired and since then the show has surpassed eight million views as of 2015. Except, the show has been known by researchers to give out false information about seizure care: In nearly 46 percent of seizure cases, characters on these shows delivered inappropriate treatments such as holding the person down, trying to stop involuntary movements or putting something in the person s ... • 6. Legal Representation In Court Cases As the need for legal representation continues to grow across all segments of our population, new and innovative types of legal representation have developed. Limited scope representation, or discrete task representation, allows an attorney to represent a person only in agreed upon portions of his or her legal case. California Rule of Court 3.35 specifically defines limited scope representation as a relationship between an attorney and a person seeking legal services in which they have agreed that the scope of the legal services will be limited to the specific tasks that the attorney will perform for the person. This method of legal representation provides not only a way for individuals to decrease their legal costs, but also to exert greater control over and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in a divorce, an individual might hire a California family law attorney on a limited scope basis to handle the property division aspects of a divorce, such as the division of a spouse s pension. Not every type of legal matter is suitable for limited scope representation. Some legal issues tend to be extremely complex and necessitate a degree of expertise that only an attorney can offer. The types of cases that traditionally work well with limited scope representation include family law matters, landlord tenant disputes, and certain consumer advocacy cases. Sidel, Robin, David Enrich, and Dan Fitzpatrick. WaMu Is Seized, Sold Off to J.P. Morgan, In Largest Failure in U.S. Banking History. WSJ. Wsj.com, 26 Sept. 2008, 25 Nov. 2016. Sidel, Enrich, and Fitzpatrick discuss what lead to the collapse of Washington Mutual back in 2008. Leading up to the collapse of Washington Mutual, the downfall of the housing market was impacting the mortgage portfolios of Washington Mutual. A month before the collapse the bank tried to auction itself off, with little to no offers. Washington Mutual s customers began pulling out their deposits, reaching $16.7 billion in just a couple days after Lehman Brothers had filed for bankruptcy protection on September 15, 2008. Because of the overwhelming amount of deposits that had been pulled from the bank, Washington Mutual did not have enough cash or liquidity resources to meet their obligations and in turn proved to be an unsafe bank to do business with. The FDIC rapidly set a deadline for offers by parties interested in taking over the bank on a Wednesday instead of the usual Friday that the FDIC has been known to do in the past. Eventually on that Thursday, J.P. Morgan bought Washington Mutual for $1.9 billion. J.P. Morgan was able to start business in states that they had not been apart of before including California and Florida, where Washington Mutual had over 900 branches located. ... • 9. James Hurst s Short Story The Scarlet Ibis Imagine having a brother who is incapable of doing anything for himself. James Hurst s short story tells the tale of a young boy in this position and the way his mindset is. In the short story The Scarlet Ibis, James Hurst uses imagery, setting, and motif to convey Brother s feelings of guilt. By using these literary elements, Hurst allows the readers to take a deeper look into Brother s perception towards Doodle at the time. Hurst uses imagery to show how Brother feels guilt for causing Doodle to die. I ran as fast as I could, leaving him far behind with a wall of rain dividing us. Brother remembers when Doodle says Brother, Brother, Don t leave me! Don t leave me! Brother feels guilt for leaving Doodle once before. When Brother runs away from Doodle, he is not actually running away from him, he is running away from the guilt which Doodle causes him to feel. Brother looks at Doodle and feels guilty for leaving him at a time of trouble before. Hurst uses the rain as a way to symbolize guilt and sorrow. What are you crying for They did not know that I did it for myself, that pride, whose slave I was, spoke to me louder than all their voices. In this scene, Hurst shows the guilt in this scene using imagery by showing us Brother crying. This is Hurst s way of showing us guilt. When Brother cries, it is because he feels guilty of his motivation. His only reason for helping Doodle was because he was ashamed of having a crippled brother . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first advantage is the ownership change, it s easy to change owners of a corporation all it takes is selling the stock to someone else. The disadvantage would be the extensive paper work you have to file in order to start the corporation. This factor had vast significance because, in this preacher s family, a clear line between fishing and religion had no presence. Mr. Maclean taught his sons the conventional four count. • 13. Critical Disability In Titus Andronicus Some say revenge is a dish best served cold, but in Titus Andronicus this dish is served piping hot and bloody. One of the literary themes presented is critical disability study. Critical disability is when somebody stands out from the norm. One study talks about being socially disabled and not being able to fit in with the rest of the group in the story. Another study talks about the definition of normality, and how those who don t fit into that category affect the story as a whole. Another story talks about how being disabled in a certain way acts as a catalyst for a character and fuels their actions from then on. In Titus Andronicus each of these forms of critical disability are present. Titus and Lavinia are both crippled in a multitude of ways physically. However, there are other characters who have a disability that cripples them; Aaron the Moor, Tamora queen of the goths, and Saturninus the Emperor. They are crippled in different ways through their views and actions. These crippled characters are a major part of the story. If they were not present or the things that crippled them were not present then the story would not be viewed in the same light. Looking at physical disabilities, there is the loss of Lavinia s hands and tongue. Before her incident she is evidently vibrant and full of life. There is one scene where the emperor, who just said he was going to marry lavinia, hits on Tamora and even tells Lavinia that Tamora is more beautiful and she makes a snide ... Participatory Design was born in Scandinavia with its heart originating in Industrial Relations. Originally it was known as cooperative design. Later when it was introduced to the US community, the name cooperative was changed for participatory to resonate better with strong separation between workers and managers. (Wikipedia, 2015). PD research began in the mid 1970 s as a reaction to the ways in which computer based systems were introduced in the workplace and to the deleterious effects these systems were having on workers (dislocations, deskilling, etc.) (Kening Blomberg, 1998). The authors stress there were a lot of debates taking place at the time in Scandinavia and Germany about the introduction of computers at work. The main discussion point was that technology neglected workers interests, and it was just another management tool to control workforce but not toimprove working conditions. Workers and their unions were concerned that the introduction of computers would reduce their control over their immediate work situation as well as the overall planning and administration of production (Kening Blomberg, 1998). With this type of darkness it s more than just grief because if you compare a lost thing such as a toy you can replace it or have a chance to find it again but in this case you are left with a place in the ground to visit and there s no way or finding it s a lost item that will not be able to be retrieved again. Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 PROBLEM SUMMARY AND INTRODCTION 1.1.1 Problem summary India is the seventh largest nation with an area of 3.287 million km2. Moreover, it is a relatively rich and rapidly developing country; for this reason demand for electricity is growing on significantly average at around 5% annually. In addition, one of the most fascinating aspects of solar cells is their ability to convert the most abundant and free forms of energy into electricity without moving parts or components. Also, they do not produce any adverse forms of pollution that affect the ecosystem. India s rooftop solar capacity addition grew 66 percent from last year to reach 525 mega watts. The state power grid system has supplied electricity to approximately 80% of the population living in the state capitals and industrial centres. Based on recent studies, PV technology and application is economically viable to be adopted in tropical countries like India where it receives more than 7 hours of direct sunlight each day throughout the year. Hence, India now tends to move on the new trend of solar energy. To measure the data continuously was not an easy task for earlier technology because of lack in advancement of software technology. So, we have used LabVIEW software for continuous measurement. It provides all the facilities in one place. • 26. Personal Reflection Of Personal Goals In The Honey Whiskey... When I began pursuing my MFA in writing, I knew what I wanted my thesis to be, I just needed some guidance in order to get there. I had completed my first novel, Seeking Signs, which weaves a narrative around an Iowa crime in 1913 and won the Midwest Book Award for historical fiction from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association in 2013. The research and writing that went into it caused me to fall in love with the process and look for another challenge, one even more complex than the first. Through my MFA pursuits, I wanted to hone my research skills, improve my ability to establish vivid historical imagery, and gain a solid foothold on the voice necessary to tell my next tale. My goals for the second novel, The Honey Whiskey Murders, began with exploring untapped research avenues. While I had a plot in mind, I knew it was important to stay open to the unexpected places the information took me. The research that went into the project was so entertaining, it was sometimes difficult to force myself to sit down and write. I read Murder and Mayhem in Clinton County, Iowa, a book published by the Clinton County historical museum which includes a compilation of all newspaper articles covering both solved and unsolved murders from the area dating back to the mid 1800s. The case of Homer and Rosela Brownfield is one of many unsolved murders in my home county. • 27. The Traditional Architectural Style in the Early 19th... In this essay I am aim to explore Pugin s dissent from tradition through his ideas, inspiration, and his most important works and their meaning. To dissent from tradition is to defy a stultifying tradition or convention, which leads to new, daring styles (Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.109). The traditional architectural style in the early 19th Century, in Great Britain was classicism, inspired by ancient Greece and associated with democracy as well as with the French revolution (Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p. 112). Pugin, called this classical style the new square style (Figure 4.7, in Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.123) and argued that it lacked authenticity of Great Britain (Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pugin found his inspiration while travelling to other European countries, particularly in Germany, where the Roman Catholic Church was predominant. (Lűbeck, St Chad s and Religious Art, 2009). Building without teaching and explaining is almost useless , Pugin stated, to stress out the importance of writing about architecture. In his written works, he strongly attacked the era or Reformation and Protestantism saying that men must learn that the period hitherto called dark and ignorant far excelled our age and wisdom ... (Pugin, 2003(1842) pp16 17, in Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.120) and looked down on the neo classicism of his time (Figure 4.7, Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p.123). In his book Contrasts ; he called the current classic style a decay of taste . In the book, he used plates which contrasted the Middle Ages, 14th and 15th Century, with 19th Century. In one example, he presented the Middle Age chapel in all its glory and with a focus on the beautiful altar, while the 19th Century chapel looks more like a theatre and as though it lacks the spiritual feel (Plate 2.4.7, Illustration book, p. 64). The former one highly resembles the St. Chad s cathedral that Pugin designed later on in life (Introduction, St Chad s and Religious Art, 2009). The two styles of chapels also meant different functioning while the central plan of the Protestant Church put the preacher in the middle and surrounded with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation The years following the American Revolution, better known as the Critical Period, were some of the most vulnerable moments in the extensive history of the United States. The Critical Period is infamous for a post war recession, disorganization and competition of states, as well as a total lack of unity about the nation. The Articles of Confederation, ratified during the onset of this tumultuous period, added new dimension to early Americans idea of national government. The Great Depression was the single most devastating economic catastrophe that had resounding effects and consequences on people all over the world. Did the various expansionary monetary policies employed by the Fed help the US pull out of the Great Depression during the Hoover administration? What was done differently after Roosevelt became president? Many economists and historians have argued that the misguided monetary policies during the Hoover administration including the mistiming of interest hike, allowance of the decrease in national money supply and reluctance in expansionary monetary policies due to the maintenance of the gold standard were contributive to the length and severity of the Great Depression. Several estimates from various models have suggested that the mistakes made in the monetary policies during the same period contributed to around 20 to 70% of the decline in real output during the Hoover administration (Fishback, 2010, pg 386). After the Roosevelt administration took control in 1933, recovery began primarily due to the abandonment of the gold standard and the appointment of Eugene Black as the Chair of the Federal Reserve. This argument is backed by numerous case studies, economic models, and research papers. Researching these two questions would provide a deeper insight into some of the monetary policies implemented today and also make sure that history doesn t repeat itself. Vast changes led Americans to reform society, and bring forth a more preferred way of life. With this came about a new meaning of freedom and understanding of American values. The 1920 s was a time of mixed feelings. There were moments of bliss and moments of despair that impacted society tremendously. After the victory of WWI a lot of tension in the United States arose. The overwhelming change post war, was the main cause of this tension that divided society in half. It was divided amongst those who could accept change and those who wouldn t. Before the war America was seen as an imperial power. America had continuously expanded beyond its borders, which led to the open door policy, Hawaii annexed, and the acquiring of the Philippines and Puerto Rico. The open door policy allowed free flow of trade, investment, information and culture. America did it s best to create a welcoming economic environment with caribbean countries, so that american companies could have stable access to raw material. I found Miles to be extremely relatable. For the first part of the book, he is experiencing the same things that I, and probably most other high school students, experienced. This makes it easy to understand his thought process and reasoning. That being said, he is a complete pushover. I would consider him to be the epitome of a follower. According to Aristotle, humans are the most imitative of all creatures and status competition is a cycle of mutual emulation. How emulation works is that there is the person who is doing the emulation, the individual who is being emulated, and then relationship between the two. The Joneses are actually salesmen pretending to be a normal family while those around them crave the items they are selling and eventually putting themselves in a serious economic/emotional crisis. This is an example of what Aristotle means when he says emulation brings pain, because one of the characters, Frank, ends up committing suicide because he gave into status competition. He did not care about his wife s business, or the simple fact that he had bills and a mortgage to pay. Instead he kept buying things, much like the Baby Boomers, and worked his way into a debt that he could not get out of because he cared too much about his reputation and how popular he wanted to seem to his friends. The emulators, in the movie, are the individuals who set out to buy the items the family was selling. Aristotle also stated that some people are only concerned with keeping up with their neighbors, copying their every move. It becomes a life obsession, and that was the main idea of the movie. Aristotle believes in order to follow the mean and be rational, one must avoid excess or deficiency by asking themselves if they re emulating at the right times and places? Do you actually need to consume? Are you consuming the right amount of goods? How will my emulating affect myself or those around me? • 45. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Birth Order Book By Dr. Kevin... Some say that people are just who they are, that a person no matter their origin or upbringing will end up exactly how they are and ultimately who they were meant to become, but what if they were wrong? Why am I loud and vivacious, yet my younger sister is quiet and shy, and my brother is more protective over my youngest sister and ignores me? What makes anyone the person that they are? Sure, the things that happen at school mold people, but the real developments happen at home. An individual s personality is solely based upon the order and the timing of birth in relation to their siblings, if any. A well renowned psychologist, Dr. Kevin Leman employs effective elements of rhetoric in his book, The Birth Order Book: Why You Are the Way You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leman s use of rhetorical questions, anecdotes, and use of metaphor provides a compelling base for his argument and helps it apply to all readers. Especially in the introduction Leman has paragraphs filled with rhetorical questions much like this one, Do you wonder why you feel compelled to act a certain way like you ve been programmed? Why does he ask all these questions? the reader might ask, however that s the whole point of asking them to begin with, to get the reader curious, to get them to wonder the possibility that his theory is valid, so his rhetorical questions are effective. Throughout the book Leman tells of so many of his own stories I cannot begin to count them, but the stories he adds make it sound as though the reader and he are having a conversation between friends. Again another effective use of literary devices to preserve his hold upon the audience. Leman s identifying name for children are little cubs. No, children are not little cubs, yet the reader can easily identify what and who he is referring to. This use of metaphor allows the reader to feel let in on a joke. All of Dr. Kevin Leman s rhetorical and literary devices are entered to make the audience comfortable and feel included so that they may continue to read and eventually believe in his take on the birth order ... Ziglar also said, A solid foundation for children involves a solid moral base meaning...you need to practice what you preach. You need to look for and expect good from your children, stop looking at the bad and negative things and look for the good and positive in them and they will bloom (Ziglar, 1998, p. 51). Be specific when you find something good in your child, tell them what it is exactly and continue to lift them up. Being Available as an Emotion Coach According to Gottman (1997), We need to help our kids deal with their emotions by being their emotion coaches and we do that with five steps 1) by being aware of their emotion, 2) recognize the emotion as a time for intimacy and teaching, 3) listen to them and validate their feelings, 4) help label the emotion with words and 5) set limits while finding ways to solve the problem (p.24). In step one, the focus is on recognizing when you are feeling an emotion, you can identify the feelings, and you are able to be sensitive to emotions in others (p. 76). Step two, when parents can use a negative experience to bring forth bonding with their children it builds intimacy and it teaches them how to deal with their feelings (p.93). During step three, two things take place, listening empathetically and validating the child s feelings. Gottman suggests that this may be the most important step in emotion coaching! Not only are you listening with your ears, but you are

  • 48. Data Sheets Of Multiphase Pumps The current study is an effort to analyse existing secondary data which includes professional journals, industry reports, past research on related topics and data sheets of multiphase pumps (MPPs) so as to understand the efficiencies and advantages brought in by MPPs in multiphase pumping conditions. The study also attempts to provide a general criterion of a pump for a particular process during production. It is understood that fluids pumped from off shore oil wells will essentially pump multiphase fluids at all times up to separation stage. Also, oil wells undergo changes in gas volume fraction and watercut during the lifecycle of the well including testing, installation, initial phase of pumping, in established and operational oil wells, an aging oil well and during abandonment. The criterion to choose a multiphase boosting solution for any oil well system is very subjective and in most cases is dependent on the pump manufacturer or system packager data. Such a situation may result in over dependence on the vendors and probably camouflage other available technologies or limitations in the known technology. The study will compare both the manufacturer data sheets as well as the available data on multiphase pump performance in oil wells across the globe. The available literature on the subject only indicates that certain type of pump is suitable for a given application but does not provide a generalized set of criterion for deciding up on a pump for a particular field ... • 49. Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially the science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical twins will tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who are anxious and there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there are those who are highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just plain shy. It is this issue of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of personality. Johnny Depp, born June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky self proclaimed barbeque capital of the world has led an interesting life filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking trait perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another, explanations of personality will become so much easier. The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and their personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with, among other things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking, which is what most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In understanding Johnny Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a complete theory, it can explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous movie star, integrates other theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning perspectives, thus providing a fairly reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality. As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for secure work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels, shifting from place to place. This no doubt took a ... • 51. Online Shopping Problems Introduction There is no doubt that traditional brick and mortar retailers like us have seen a decline in sales since the increased growth of e commerce. After researching the topic at hand, I have identified the issues we face, and devised several solutions to aid us in our competition with online retailers. Issues Sears Faces The problem is, online retail is becoming the go to for convenience and customer service while brick and mortar stores are struggling with sales growth. This problem is not only a Sears s exclusive problem, but a shift in the way customers are shopping today. In order to further examine this issue, I have first compared how other large brick and mortar retailers are doing in their battles with Amazon. Walmart, for example, has seen incredibly slow growth while Amazon, is growing on an exponential level. According to a 2014 article by fool.com, Walmart s five year projected annual earnings growth rate was only about 7.9% while Amazon s was 46.6% (Duggan, 2014). Consumers are turning to online retailers for cheaper prices, a more convenient shopping experience, fast delivery, and a new technologically advanced way to shop. Traditional retailers are in a price battle with stores like amazon that offer the same or similar products cheaper online. Many times customers will even go to brick and mortar stores just to see the product in person before shopping for better deals online.
