• Carbohydrate are main source of energy for
the functioning and growth of body
• Sources: Rice , other cereals , tubers and
fruites
5. Protein
• Protein are mainly used for the building up of
body tissue
• Source : pulse , fish , meat, milk
6. Lipid
• Lipid are mainly used for production of energy
and contain twice as much energy as that of
carbohydrate and protein
• Source : oil , ghee & butter
7. Vitamin
• Vitamin are organic compounds that act as
factor that regulate and promote life activity
• Mainly they are fat soluble and water soluble
• Fat soluble : A , D ,E & K
• Water soluble : B complex & C
• Sources : fruits & vegetables
8. Minerals
• Minerals are also nutrients that promote and
regulate life activities
• Sources : Fruits & vegetable

• Water is an important inorganic factor in the
body
• About 70% of weight of human body is water
