What have you learnt from audience feedback?
Audience feedback is crucial when constructing a media product and creating your own marketing campaign for the following reasons. What the audience want – through audience feedback you can discover exactly what it is that an audience what to see within your media. Miss anything – Through feedback you may become aware of issues with your product that you originally did not see.Successful - you have a chance to see if your products have the effects you required them too.
Audience Feedback - DraftsOne way in which we achieved audience feedback was through the use of submitting drafts throughout the production process for audience members to look at and comment on.We made two drafts of each media product and uploaded them to social networking sights like Facebook ,twitter, YouTube and Blogger where people could make constructive comments on all three of my media products.
Movie Trailer First Draft http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=&feature=player_embedded
On the 21st of January i uploaded a first draft without music asking audience members to comment on camera shots and narrative.Audience feedback suggested that shots where’ too unsteady at times’ and ‘too blurry and out of focus’However there where comments that the narrative was ‘interesting’ and ‘enticed an audience member to think’
Movie Trailer Second Draft http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npCJWoZO3DM
On the 27th of February i uploaded a second draft of my movie trailer .This time I also uploaded the trailer to social networking sites and asked for feedback regarding the trailer.Through these websites people could easily access and comment on my film trailer
Audience Feedback -QuestionnaireAnother way in which I could learn from audience feedback was through the use of a questionnaire.A questionnaire allowed me to asked specific questions and generate reliable quantitative and qualitative data which I could later analysis.I submitted my questionnaire to selected people in person and also uploaded it to my blog where people could also download and complete it. http://matthewwrighta2.blogspot.com/2010/11/questionnaire.html
What I learnt from audience feedback questionnaire. The majority of people who like horror films we found were male and 18.Most people enjoy a horror movie with a complicated challenging story lineThe majority of people do not want to see the narrative of the movie within the film trailer. Most audience members notice a movie poster more if it is simplistic and features an eye catching imagePeople want to see the vital information (release date and title) on a poster stand out and easy to locate. We discovered people often buy fan magazines rather than purchasing ‘general’ magazines.
