Internship Report On Skid Internship
Final Report
In all honesty, I did not know what to expect when heading into this internship. I knew my boss on a
personal level being that he is my brother–in–law but I only had brief experiences working
alongside him and his employees. The very first day Derek, my employer made his expectations
loud and clear he was to have 110% and nothing less. The first week on my internship I was
assigned to sorting through seemingly endless amounts of red iron and tin among other things with a
skid steer. Overtime I went from having very little familiarity with the piece of equipment to having
spent days maneuvering through the mud and sand that was behind the shop. One day as I was
riding I was reminded of a time in Mr. Fritt's Concrete class where the class took turns learning to
operate a skid steer belonging to OSUIT it was very satisfying to realize how far I had come.
The next week I received even more practice on the skid steer as I was told I was to spend quite a bit
of time mowing a couple of different locations with a brush hog and for the next few days that was
the mission. I spent many hours on something that may have seemed meaningless to many and learn
to take pride in it. Mid way through the week I went to my first real site. The facility was owned by
a company called Archrock. I only spent a day there but in that little bit of time I was hit with a
wealth of knowledge about compressors. I understood what the pipeline is about and how it has
brought convenience to every

ABSTRACT This paper will identify some prerequisites for brake actuation circuit design,
describe three basic types of brake actuation circuitry, and will point out some common problems to
be avoided in brake actuation circuit design for off–highway vehicles and equipment. It will deal
only with the actuation of service brakes (as opposed to parking brake). Service brake selection,
pneumatic, and vacuum powered brake systems are beyond the scope of this paper.

The designer needs to know the minimum, nominal, and maximum volume of fluid required.
Different types of actuation operate in different ranges of volumetric displacements.
1
Input Pedal Force Input pedal force is generally expressed as a maximum force allowed to
generate the desired maximum brake line pressure. Again, there are governing agencies that make
recommendations to assist in identifying this value. BRAKE ACTUATION CIRCUITS The system
designer can accomplish brake actuation in different ways. The use of a direct means of actuation,
such as hydraulic pressure to apply the brakes is but one method of brake actuation. Another type of
actuation is reverse modulation or negative braking as it is referred to in the European community.
Reverse modulation uses hydraulic pressure to release a spring apply brake. Maximum torque is
produced when hydraulic pressure is absent either intentionally or due to system failure. The subject
of reverse modulation requires further detailed explanation beyond the scope fo this paper. Also
beyond the scope of this paper are pneumatic and vacuum boosted hydraulic circuits as it is felt that
the trend is clearly away from them toward full hydraulic circuits. This paper will discuss three
broad categories of hydraulic pressure actuation circuits, these are:
cylinder bore closing off the compensating port, see Figure 1 (E). This completely seals the
hydraulic system.

Common Forms Of Low Rise Construction Used For Domestic...
P1 Understand common forms of low rise construction used for domestic and commercial properties
Steel frame:
Steel frame structures are made as the name suggest from steel, the material is strong and flexible.
When weight is added it bends without cracking. Another characteristic of steel is that its plasticity
or ductility, meaning that when force is added it won't crack however it will lose shape therefore
giving warning for people to evacuate the building. A disadvantage of steel is that is loses strength
when subject to fire. Studies have shown that it can loose up– to half its strength when subject to
fire, therefore making it imperative to cover the steel with boards or spray on.
Steel construction is used in
High rise building because of its strength, light weight and the speed in which it can be constructed.
Industrial buildings and warehouse buildings because of the ability to create large span spaces at a
low cost
Temporary structure as its quick to set up and remove.
Steel fabrication: this is when steel is cut to the desire length generally on site and then weld them
together to create the final building. This is generally labor intensive however it can reduce time.
Bolted steel construction: this is when the main bulk of the construction is pre made at the workshop
then bolted into place on site. This tends to be the preferred methods as it saves time and money as
well having the right working conditions.
Advantages of steel structures

My Statement Of Purpose In Mechanical Engineering
I was born in a family of sociologist, economist, zoologist and mathematician as they are
respectively my mother, uncle, aunt and grandfather. Amid these intellectuals, my uncle, a
mechanical engineer is the most renowned. A Fulbright scholar and pioneer of "Renewable Energy
Research" in Nepal, growing up he was my role model; I was his favorite kid among others too. My
uncle once said "We engineers are the problem solvers and our service is commensurate to the
number of people we solve the problems for." His altruism was compelling and I have been inspired
eversince. Having had introduced to Mechanical Engineering by him, it became a motivation for me
to ensure it with machines and vehicles. I was fascinated on how a machine with so many
components could be arranged with such a perfect sync to produce a desired result. Thus, my
determination, strong academic forte in mathematics and physics, my curiosity towards learning
about machines and the desire to emulate my role model was the reason I singled out Mechanical
engineering for my under–graduate study. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On The Move Reflection
On the Move My family and I depended on my father for a paycheck every month to pay for bills
and groceries, but one month the paycheck never came. My father had lost his job from Caterpillar
in Decatur, Illinois. When it happened, I was in third grade, and I had no worries, didn't care about
how I looked, and made sure that I was doing well in school. My younger brothers were in
kindergarten and preschool at the time, were six and three years old, and only cared about the toys
they wanted from the store. My mother was a stay at home mother, and tended to the house and all
of our needs at home when it occurred. My father had lost his job, my family lost the paycheck that
paid for everything.
I had no idea my father lost his job until I got home from school that day. When I walked in, I saw
my father sitting upon his chair, in the family room, with bloodshot eyes. I was amazed– I never saw
my father cry before. I always thought that he was this extremely tall man who could care less about
what other people thought of him, who could do almost anything, who loved my mother, my
brothers, and I so dearly. I asked him what was the matter, but all he did was tell me to go to my
room and do my homework. Then, I went and asked my mother why my father was acting the way
he was, all she said was, "Your father and I will tell you and your brothers later." It wasn't until
dinner when my mother and father told my younger brothers and I what had happened. My brothers

Growing up on the family farm, riding with Dad or Grandpa in the combine, tractors, and trucks was
my brothers' and my favorite thing to do. The only thing that could get better is if we could operate
the equipment just like them. When I was twelve years old I was given the job of stalk chopping a
farm that was far away from home, all went well, until one weekend an accident occurred. The farm
I was stalk chopping was one–hundred and eighteen acres about ten miles east of our home farm in
Island Grove, Jasper County. I had shredded stalks here before, just never without someone opening
up the whole property. I started my day by packing a lunch and heading out to the field. That day

He tried to back the tractor out of the ditch and to no avail, couldn't get it to move. We get into the
truck and rode in silence till he dropped me off at the beef farm to help Dustin till dark.
I was to help Dustin with loading the manure spreader while cleaning out and re–bedding the cattle.
When I got there it was about dark and I was still shaken up from the accident. He told me it would
be fine and that to get the cattle done, he needed me at peak performance. So that is what I did. I got
into the skid loader and filled the spreader and continued to clean out the barn. Between loading
Dustin I added the new sawdust to the pen and moved the cattle back into their pen. By the time I
got the final pen finished we quite and headed home for the day.
The next morning Dad, Jake and I loaded up the chains to go and pull out the tractor and chopper.
Once there Jake takes the 8320 John Deere front wheel assist with a disk and rolling harrow behind
it to the 3294. My Dad and I brought the pickup truck with chains across the field. We chained the

Prior to this, there were even excavators whose arms and its mechanism for digging were run by
cables, running along pulley systems. Excavators have a wide variety of uses and can be customized
to fit the desired job. The customization of an excavator involves changing of the bucket or adding
hydraulic attachments. The standard bucket can be changed with various sizes of different types of
buckets (ditch/trench cleaning) and other attachments include augers, hammers, vibratory
compactors, dozers, breakers, grapples, thumbs, clamshells, wood clippers, brush cutters and
concrete crushers. Excavators are used in digging of trenches, holes for foundations beams, general
construction or even demolition of old buildings, sewage works, road widening works, pipe laying
and rock breaking and dragging; resources mining which include overburden, removal in coal
mining, gravel collection; forestry works which entails timber handling and prune off work; metal
recycling which involves slag handling and scrap handling; brush cutting with hydraulic
attachments, general grading and landscaping. To assist in understanding the basis of operation of
the excavator, an article on hydraulics was used. This article gave a general understanding of the
principles governing the transmission of pressure due to hydraulics and its widespread application.

Subject: Expanding Production
Date: September 29, 2010
Since beginning 40 years ago, Pleasure Craft INC. has been successful in both the domestic and
international marketplace. Currently producing two products, snowmobiles and personal watercraft,
both of which have become mature markets and thus giving little room to grow, two options have
been determined to further the growth of Pleasure Craft INC.. First being to start production on
outboard motors. This option allows Pleasure Craft INC. to remain in a familiar market, utilizing
current contacts and sales tactics. The second option draws upon Pleasure Craft INC.'s experience

As Pleasure Craft Inc. has publicly held debt; we determined the cost of debt to be the yield to
maturity on the outstanding debt on the outboard motor project, so using a financial calculator we
establish the YTM to be equal to 2.4827%. Because this is a Semi– annual compounding, rd = YTM
* 2 = 4.9654%; for the cost of equity (Rf + β (Rm – Rf)): 12.8420%. The WACC is the discount rate
of the projects WACC = rd * (1– Td) * D/V + (re * E/ V) = 4.9654% (1– 35%) * 30% + 12.8420% *
70% = 0.0996, so the WACC is determined to be 9.96% for outboard motors project. The NPV of
this project is positive and equal to $35,630,973.63, the IRR for the outboard motors has calculated
to be 8%. From these calculation we can know the project's beta is lower than project front– end
loader project and the risk is lower also; from the decision rule the NPV > 0 and IRR > R, so we
choose the outboard motor project.
The Front End Loader Project
The front–end loader project would require that the company would produce small front–end
loaders and sell its product to construction companies, farmers and ranchers through retail
establishments and to the military and municipal government directly. This is a completely new
business venture for the Pleasure Crafts INC. It will draw upon its strengths in small–engine
manufacturing. However, to make the final

energy, and transportation (Company, n.d.). The Caterpillar name is global when referencing
construction equipment. Caterpillar is a global leader within the industry of farm and construction
equipment. Caterpillar ensures brand recognition by renting out construction equipment. Who has
never been stuck in a construction zone somewhere with only the equipment with "CAT" on it as the
only site to see? Furthermore, even if the equipment and construction zone is not actively under
construction by the Caterpillar headquarters, the Caterpillar name is actively reaching potential
customers. Caterpillar maintains the strategy of recognition everywhere when doing business.

During my career at Caterpillar I have had numerous opportunities to lead multimillion dollar
projects. One of which involved the development of a system to improve the safety of operators as

Speech On Focus Puller
Think you'll be able to pull focus without measuring for it? Think again, because you will not be
able to do so.
If we were to ask you the reason why the 1st assistant camera (AC) is also known as the "Focus
Puller", what would you say? It is because a follow focus puller knows how to shoulder that single
responsibility when it comes to keeping a subject in focus which is so amazingly valued, that there's
an entire job, in fact a career solely devoted to it.
There's no denying the fact that focus pullers and camera assistants have a lot more to do than just
spinning a disc which is attached to a lens for 12 hours a day, but this single act deserves the
applause being the most remarkable contribution that one makes to a film.
Today we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Measuring for focus should be the utmost goal because focus is set as well as decided upon through
distance. Without getting into lens optics, you're basically giving instructions to the lens which light
rays you want focused on the film or sensor plane at a certain distance.
Do you think your eyes you can do wonders the way tools do? Never! Your eyes will never be as
precise as your tools. Well, if you strive hard, you can achieve an exceptional level at guessing
distances, but don't you forget that not a single person will ever as exact as a dependable tape
measure? Keep in mind that guessing the distance and knowing the same are two different entities
when it comes to pulling focus.
Even until now it seems to be the most trusted way to keep a subject in focus. As far as the back
focus on a camera is set in the right way, you will not have a subject standing at 8 feet out of focus
when the lens is set to 8 feet. As simple as that!
Before the arrival of crisp monitors of digital cinema cameras and much enhanced monitoring of
contemporary film cameras, distance marks had a lot to do with how effectively you pulled focus.
With no monitor to support on, no peaking at all – it was your tape measure, your eyes, and last but
certainly not least, the

A. Skid Steer Newer skid steers range in price from $30 to $50 thousand and can usually be resold
quickly. This equipment is compact, and can be transported in pickups, or small equipment trailers.
B. Backhoe Backhoes are typically targeted by professional thieves, as they require full–sized trucks
or trailers to transport. New backhoes cost approximately $70 to $90 thousand dollars. C. Forklift
Forklifts are in high demand for most warehouses, and can be moved on equipment trailers or
flatbed two trucks. Mobile forklifts are simpler to steal, as they are manufactured for easy transport.
D. Welders, Generators, and Compressors This category of equipment is easy to steal because they
are often portable, and trailer–mounted. An accurate scope of the theft of these items is difficult to
access as they are often mounted on other items, and serial numbers are not included on reports.
GPS and Effective Equipment Management In 2014, only 23% of reported stolen equipment was
recovered. Although theft accounts for the highest number of equipment losses when compared to
other risks, the risks can be substantially reduced when fleet managers take certain precautions,
including GPS tracking and effective equipment management. A. Prompt Theft Discovery and

Reflection Of The Movie Mivtza Savta
Mivtza Savta
The movie Mivtza Savta is based on a true story and follows the story of three brothers: Alon
(Krembo), Benni, and Idan. The brothers grew up in Kibbutz Asisim in the Negev, but have since
left the Kibbutz. Alon has returned to live in the Kibbutz because of his stationing in the Israeli
Army. They all live their lives and work in their jobs until their grandmother Haya dies. This is also
the moment where the most touted line of the movie is said: "savta Haya meta". It is then that
Dvora, the Kibbutz secretary informed the brothers that the Kibbutz will not take care of the
arrangements for the funeral and it is up to the brother to bury their grandmother. This is the subject
the movie revolves around: how to bury savta Haya in a day so that Elon can execute his newly
approved military plan "makat shemesh" that he has been working on for so long. Before I can
summarize the rest of the movie, it is important to know the characters. Alon is the oldest brother.
He is in a classified position in the Israeli Army. Since he left the Kibbutz when he grew up, he lives
there as an external resident (toshav huts). He receives the name Krembo, an Israeli snack only
available in the winter, by stealing all the Krembos from the Kibbutz Kitchen. In order to avoid
punishment, even though everyone knew it was him, he ate 500 Krembos in half an hour. Krembo is
the brains behind the operation of burring grandmother Haya. He conducts the mission as a military

Will it do the actual? Is the first question to ask, secondly, what year is it also? How many hours
does it placed on it? May the resale be on that backhoe when your ready to market it. Good
questions must. When about to buy one, you will have to consider the scale or the width for the
machine. You need to make without it fits inside the garage, in gates or even in driveways or alleys.

Caterpillar Company Analysis Essay
Caterpillar Inc. Caterpillar Incorporated is the world's largest producer of construction and mining
equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines. Caterpillar's headquarters are

machinery, engines, and financial products. The machinery segment includes the design,
manufacture, marketing, and selling of all kinds of machinery such as; tractors, forestry and mining

As reported in The Globe and Mail on March 22, 2012, Raymond James analyst Theoni Pilarinos
points out that Caterpillar's latest figures, while still impressive, show a moderate decrease in sales
growth. Machinery sales in February fell to 21 percent from 27 percent in January, while engines
sales growth decreased to 13 percent from 22 percent. This somewhat troubling trend also extended
to Caterpillar's global operations. In the Asia/Pacific region, growth slowed from 31 percent in
December 2011 to 20 percent in February 2012 (CBS News March 20, 2012).
This drop in sales may suggest that Caterpillar has reached its' peak and is likely to come back down
to Earth, along with their stock price. It is never smart to invest in a company that has likely reached
their peak, since there is nowhere to go but down. Investors should be wary of this news and should
probably hold off on buying Caterpillar's stock until the price inevitably comes back down due to
the slow sales growth.
Financial Ratios Potential investors examining Caterpillar's stock's value will see that Cat
outperforms the competition in almost every area concerning stock valuation. Earnings per share is a
measure of a company's net income relative to the number of shares of common stock outstanding.
Caterpillar's earnings per share of 7.40 dominated the industry in 2011. The second best EPS in the
industry was 3.91, posted by CNH Global.

Earth Moving Equipment
Introduction
Earth moving equipment are the machines human make to replace the hard work from the human;
the machines made by humans to perform digging; grading; leveling; removing; etc to earth moving
from one side to the other side. There is Bulldozer, excavator, grader, loader, roller, forklift, tractor,
bobcat, and truck, etc.
Earth moving equipment is replacing the hard tough work; back break jobs to easy jobs for the
workers. Machines do a lot better than the human force. They can do a big job in the short time. So
the time can be save and finish the job earlier, leading to the economic affect. They run by the power
machines, so they do not need a lot of people in the same task. Most of the equipment can be used at

The special task of this machine is digging.
In the early age when the human tools are just the picks, shovels. With the basic tools, men must
work very hard to tackle the job. Now the machines are in place after time to time to refine, the
excavator 322B appears to help. This unit is used to replace the manpower by machine, with the
circle rate very fast; it can do the job better on the field. It can dig or pick up a huge amount of dirt
and ship it aside. It can break the rock to the small pieces to level the surface in a limit time. The
machine can handle a job equal to 200–man power in daily work.
This machine was built to counteract the need of huge digging job around the field. It operates with
the other earth moving machines such as dump truck, loader, etc
We can see this machines every where: around the field, in the habour, in city, on the side of the
road. Perhaps it is busy digging sand, breaking down rock, digging the drain lines, and lifting a
piece of concrete. Really, it is a great machine.
The machine is run by tracks. The speed is up to 5.5 km/hr. The huge arm attaches to the body of the
unit. With the hydraulic system, the arm can stretch out, fold in, lift high in the sky, and dig deep
into the surface of the earth. With the special basket located on the tip of the arm, it can dig deep
into the ground, pick up soil then swing around to unload to the truck located

Personal Narrative Essay On A Skid Loader
Thunder cracked across the sky, which at that point was not good. We had just started baling square
bales and if they got rained on that wouldn't be good. They aren't small bales either they're around
850 pounds. I hopped in the skid loader and realized that it had the bucket on it. So I pulled it
around the corner to get the pallet forks on it (which also work very well for picking up large bales).
I took the bucket off at the pull of two levers and put the pallet forks on at the push of the same two
levers. I took off to go get started picking up the bales, but as you probably already know skid
loaders don't go very fast. I got on the field and started to pick up the bales and dropping them over
the fence. I got five over then it started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hopped in the skid loader and went around back and put the bucket back on it, while my mom and
sister hopped in the Kawasaki gator. We went to the field that it broke in and scooped a bucket load
into the back of the gator then drove it back to a spot in the horse pen so they could have food. We
did this five or so times, then scooped one more load into the gator, and put the rest in the skid
loader. By that time that spot was full so we were putting it into a much smaller spot that I directed
my sister into. Next she dumped the hay. As she was backing up, she shook the bucket one more
time pointing it straight down. At that time the 500 lb bucket jumped off the skid loader and fell
plummeting towards the ground. Leaving a 4 inch indent in the ground, then falling back on my
foot. Luckily it bounced back off my foot rather than staying on and us having to lift it off. My sister
jumped out of the skid loader and questioned, "Are you ok?" I managed to blurt out, "Go get mom."
She ran up and got mom while I rolled around on the ground in pain. Mom and my sister came
down in the car to pick me up and put me in the backseat. They took me up to the house to look at
my foot (my mom was an occupational therapist), and we decided to go to the E.R. in Mason City.

Training Is A For A New Position
Training is something that every company is familiar with, which usually takes place when an
employee joins the organization. Some companies tend to have more extensive training while others
lack depth due to a lack of skills in the realm of training. Either way, training is not uncommon to
have with an organization. In the case study, Jim had applied for a new position in his company as a
backhoe/front–end–loader. Even though Jim has never operated a back hoe before he applied for the
position and much to his surprise landed the job. On Jim's first day, his training consisted of learning
how to check the hydraulic fluid and was told that the machines are fool proof. Although that may
be the case, Jim still was lacking with how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Jim would have a valid reason for his lack of skills due to no training, it still wouldn't fix
the situation. It is difficult to guess why the company provided so little training to Jim. It is a
possibility that the experience other crew members have had with a backhoe that they believed it
would be just as easy for Jim and that he would pick up on it quickly. It is also possible that the
company is used to hiring people with experience on the different types of heavy machinery and
have never had a demand for in–depth training. It is unclear as to why Jim's company decided to
hire him with his lack of experience. The fact that Jim did not know how to even turn on the
machine should have been a red flag for the hiring committee. This is unacceptable by any company.
It is even more unacceptable when heavy machinery is involved and someone could potentially be
injured or hurt. Jim took matters into his own hand and decided to dig the best way he thought was
possible. Although it is admirable that he used his critical thinking skills, it cost the company more
money to fix the problems that he was continually causing by digging too deep and breaking the
water lines along with gas lines. Thankfully Jim decided to go out of his way and seek advice from
an expert. It did not cure Jim's poor digging skills but it did enlighten him and gave him new skills
and techniques to focus on. Even with that being said Jim realized really quick that he was not cut

Case Study on Komatsu Limited
I. Background of the Study
Komatsu had its origin 1894 when the Takeuchi Mining Company was founded. A major expansion
occurred in 1917 when the Komatsu Iron Works was established to manufacture mining equipment
and machine tools. The name Komatsu came into existence in 1921 when iron works separated from
the mining company to become KOMATSU ltd. Despite a name that means "little pine tree",
Komatsu produces line up of big equipment. The company is the world's second largest
manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, after Caterpillar Inc.

and compact construction equipment. The company has operations in more than 100 countries, some
60 subsidiaries, and a sales network consisting of 4,000 dealers. Its Ansan Parts Center acts as a hub
for global parts distribution. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, a Doosan Corp.
subsidiary, holds a 39% stake in the company.
2. Employee
Komatsu had history of good labor relation. Statistics shown that from 1976 to 1981 labor
productivity rose compared to Caterpillar. This high productivity labor force was absolutely one of
the assets of Komatsu.
3. Managerial Philosophy/Leadership Style * As early as 1921, Mr. Takeuchi, founder of Komatsu
stated his two management perspectives; "overseas orientation" and "user orientation". * In 1963,
when Mitsubishi–Cat joint venture entered Japan, Yashinari Kawai planned to make his company a
competitor of world's standard. He set the goals; acquisition of the necessary advanced technology
from abroad and the improvement of product quality within the company. He and his son Ryoichi
Kawai conducted negotiations with USSR and China and developed relations with high officials. *
In mid–1980's, where Caterpillar was on its unprofitable year, Chairman Ryoichi Kawai stated that
Komatsu's success today doesn't mean success for tomorrow. He believes that a company must
always be innovative.

The Implementation Of Employee Resistance
processes, machinery capabilities, space utilization, holding inventory storage and their accounting
systems among others (Bartlett, 1991, p. 5). Further internal competition was realized by the
employees whose roles would be directly impacted by the changes needed. Employee resistance was
a result of a failure to implement the strategy. The implementation phase was too abrupt and overly
ambitious, resulting in the employee's inability to effectively engage in the new processes and
strategic intent (Bartlett, 1991, p.6). The organization had focused too much of their time on the
strategic intent of the organization rather than on how the changes would impact employees (Pryor,
2007, p.6). As employees are "the active ingredient in the implementation equation" there should
have been a considerable amount of energy focused on how the changes would affect employees
(Pryor, 2007, p. 6). Strategic intent is something which is not easily obtained in the near–term but
realizable in the long–term. Accordingly, the fast pace of change would not result in effective
implementation of the strategy. Further, internal employee challenges may be a result of the
organization failing to "sell" the destiny and direction components of their strategic intent. Perhaps
these components were easily understood by leadership but not effectively communicated down the
line to other personnel. A key component of strategy implementation is based on communication of
purpose. "The elements that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Focus Puller
A lot of productions reduce their budget by excluding the focus puller, which is another term for
camera assistant (AC). They don't realize that they're making a mistake by doing so. When the
Director of Photography (DP) is anxious about the grips, the lights as well as composition, would
you want to leave them also dealing with the duties of lenses and filters?
It's important for you keep in mind that not every project will need a camera assistant, and it's a fact
that corporate events, reality TV, and documentaries stay alive every so often without having to use
a devoted focus puller. Well, there are some situations in which you can't afford a remote focus

Working with film? Then you will certainly need a professional assistant camera (AC).
If there is any drawback of film over digital it's that it seems a whole lot easier for one to waste a
great amount of money when working with film. Pulling focus is a game that one cannot achieve in
the blink of an eye and loading magazines is a main opportunity to damage some stock, and last but

Don't consider anyone else, unless you have the right experience working with film on your own.
Hire a pro who's already worked with various film cameras and knows their fine points.
Is Hiring a Focus Puller Important?
A focus puller or the 1st AC (assistant camera) plays a very important role as this person is the one

Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd
1. During the two decades following WWII, Caterpillar management focused on an aggressive
growth strategy aimed at anchoring its position as a leading producer of construction machinery on a
global scale. This strategy was directed by four underlying policies. (Exhibit 1) Caterpillar's goal in
competing in a global market was to seek new markets and increase its revenues. High R&D
and high capital intensity of Caterpillar's business, and homogenous customer needs favored the
adoption of an aggregation strategy. Caterpillar had recognized that due to its industry focus and
worldwide product standardization policies, there were significant potential savings through
economies of scale and scope to be exploited by international ... Show more content on

Financial returns are discussed in question 4. 2. * Caterpillar's strategic goal after WWII was to
aggressively expand and become one of the leading producers of construction machinery on a global
stage. Caterpillar's strategic goal for creating CML was to gain access to the Japanese and Far East
markets, which top management viewed as key in becoming a top global competitor. Access to this
market would have been impossible due to government regulations and other non–market factors
such as outcry from local producers and protectionist groups. By partnering with MHI, Caterpillar
gained a partner that allowed it to navigate the non–market factors in Japan and gain access to the
regional market, thus fulfilling its strategic goal of global expansion. In selecting a partner,
Caterpillar was looking for a Japanese company that shared its cultural values, its conservative
approach to business, and its management style. MHI, under the leadership of Mr. Makita,
demonstrated such shared valued. MHI had expertise in metal work, development of large scale
machinery, and had access to plant capacity. This overlap in technology and capabilities increased
the absorption capacity between the two partners. Further, the similarities in organizational size,
operations, and culture made MHI a good fit for Caterpillar. Since MHI had no previous experience
in development of construction machinery, it would be dependent on Caterpillar's

Designing A More Productive Manner During Construction...
In order to perform any task in a more productive manner during construction, equipment must be
used. Depending on the scope of work and the size of the job more than one piece of machinery may
be used; the model, size, and people operating the equipment will differ too. The equipment,
personnel, area, and project factors may be different for every job but they all share a common
factor, risk. This factor aids contractors to determine the type of equipment to choose and the
supplier to provide the equipment for the project as well.
Choosing the right equipment for the project is a major risk the contractor must be able to handle.
They must analysis and completely understand the project; such as understanding the type of soil to

Each specific area in construction uses various types of equipment, every piece of equipment has a
different purpose. The contractor must determine for each project and the scope of work assign what
equipment to use, and whether to buy or rent the equipment. For example, if a contractor specializes
in concrete work and it is a job that they perform regularly, it would benefit them owning the
necessary equipment; such as mixer and pump. This allows them to have the availability of the
equipment when it is required. However they are responsible for all the maintenance on the
equipment and inspecting it frequently, in order to keep it operating properly (pg90). If these
services are not performed regularly the contractor risk the equipment being damaged or not
performing to the norm. They also must be aware of the operating cost and depreciation value of the
vehicle; in order to receive funds from some of the equipments retained market value (pg 92) . Now
in a job that requires a special type of equipment, one not familiar with the contractor, renting may
be the best option. In renting the risk factor is also there, the supplier may not have the equipment
available for the time being requested or may be too far of a distance from the job site.
Thus location of the project site also has some effects to the project, it can determine the delivery
and mobilization risk factors. Not only can location affect the time of the availability of the
equipment, but as well the

  • 4. Internship Report On Skid Internship Final Report In all honesty, I did not know what to expect when heading into this internship. I knew my boss on a personal level being that he is my brother–in–law but I only had brief experiences working alongside him and his employees. The very first day Derek, my employer made his expectations loud and clear he was to have 110% and nothing less. The first week on my internship I was assigned to sorting through seemingly endless amounts of red iron and tin among other things with a skid steer. Overtime I went from having very little familiarity with the piece of equipment to having spent days maneuvering through the mud and sand that was behind the shop. One day as I was riding I was reminded of a time in Mr. Fritt's Concrete class where the class took turns learning to operate a skid steer belonging to OSUIT it was very satisfying to realize how far I had come. The next week I received even more practice on the skid steer as I was told I was to spend quite a bit of time mowing a couple of different locations with a brush hog and for the next few days that was the mission. I spent many hours on something that may have seemed meaningless to many and learn to take pride in it. Mid way through the week I went to my first real site. The facility was owned by a company called Archrock. I only spent a day there but in that little bit of time I was hit with a wealth of knowledge about compressors. I understood what the pipeline is about and how it has brought convenience to every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will deal only with the actuation of service brakes (as opposed to parking brake). Service brake selection, pneumatic, and vacuum powered brake systems are beyond the scope of this paper. PREREQUISITES Although we are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The designer needs to know the minimum, nominal, and maximum volume of fluid required. Different types of actuation operate in different ranges of volumetric displacements. 1 Input Pedal Force Input pedal force is generally expressed as a maximum force allowed to generate the desired maximum brake line pressure. Again, there are governing agencies that make recommendations to assist in identifying this value. BRAKE ACTUATION CIRCUITS The system designer can accomplish brake actuation in different ways. The use of a direct means of actuation, such as hydraulic pressure to apply the brakes is but one method of brake actuation. Another type of actuation is reverse modulation or negative braking as it is referred to in the European community. Reverse modulation uses hydraulic pressure to release a spring apply brake. Maximum torque is produced when hydraulic pressure is absent either intentionally or due to system failure. The subject of reverse modulation requires further detailed explanation beyond the scope fo this paper. Also beyond the scope of this paper are pneumatic and vacuum boosted hydraulic circuits as it is felt that the trend is clearly away from them toward full hydraulic circuits. This paper will discuss three broad categories of hydraulic pressure actuation circuits, these are: cylinder bore closing off the compensating port, see Figure 1 (E). This completely seals the

  • 9. Common Forms Of Low Rise Construction Used For Domestic... P1 Understand common forms of low rise construction used for domestic and commercial properties Steel frame: Steel frame structures are made as the name suggest from steel, the material is strong and flexible. When weight is added it bends without cracking. Another characteristic of steel is that its plasticity or ductility, meaning that when force is added it won't crack however it will lose shape therefore giving warning for people to evacuate the building. A disadvantage of steel is that is loses strength when subject to fire. Studies have shown that it can loose up– to half its strength when subject to fire, therefore making it imperative to cover the steel with boards or spray on. Steel construction is used in High rise building because of its strength, light weight and the speed in which it can be constructed. Industrial buildings and warehouse buildings because of the ability to create large span spaces at a low cost Temporary structure as its quick to set up and remove. Steel fabrication: this is when steel is cut to the desire length generally on site and then weld them together to create the final building. This is generally labor intensive however it can reduce time. Bolted steel construction: this is when the main bulk of the construction is pre made at the workshop then bolted into place on site. This tends to be the preferred methods as it saves time and money as well having the right working conditions. Advantages of steel structures Very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Statement Of Purpose In Mechanical Engineering I was born in a family of sociologist, economist, zoologist and mathematician as they are respectively my mother, uncle, aunt and grandfather. Amid these intellectuals, my uncle, a mechanical engineer is the most renowned. A Fulbright scholar and pioneer of "Renewable Energy Research" in Nepal, growing up he was my role model; I was his favorite kid among others too. My uncle once said "We engineers are the problem solvers and our service is commensurate to the number of people we solve the problems for." His altruism was compelling and I have been inspired eversince. Having had introduced to Mechanical Engineering by him, it became a motivation for me to ensure it with machines and vehicles. I was fascinated on how a machine with so many components could be arranged with such a perfect sync to produce a desired result. • 15. On The Move Reflection On the Move My family and I depended on my father for a paycheck every month to pay for bills and groceries, but one month the paycheck never came. My father had lost his job from Caterpillar in Decatur, Illinois. When it happened, I was in third grade, and I had no worries, didn't care about how I looked, and made sure that I was doing well in school. My younger brothers were in kindergarten and preschool at the time, were six and three years old, and only cared about the toys they wanted from the store. My mother was a stay at home mother, and tended to the house and all of our needs at home when it occurred. My father had lost his job, my family lost the paycheck that paid for everything. I had no idea my father lost his job until I got home from school that day. When I walked in, I saw my father sitting upon his chair, in the family room, with bloodshot eyes. I was amazed– I never saw my father cry before. I always thought that he was this extremely tall man who could care less about what other people thought of him, who could do almost anything, who loved my mother, my brothers, and I so dearly. The only thing that could get better is if we could operate the equipment just like them. When I was twelve years old I was given the job of stalk chopping a farm that was far away from home, all went well, until one weekend an accident occurred. The farm I was stalk chopping was one–hundred and eighteen acres about ten miles east of our home farm in Island Grove, Jasper County. As Pleasure Craft Inc. has publicly held debt; we determined the cost of debt to be the yield to maturity on the outstanding debt on the outboard motor project, so using a financial calculator we establish the YTM to be equal to 2.4827%. Because this is a Semi– annual compounding, rd = YTM * 2 = 4.9654%; for the cost of equity (Rf + β (Rm – Rf)): 12.8420%. The WACC is the discount rate of the projects WACC = rd * (1– Td) * D/V + (re * E/ V) = 4.9654% (1– 35%) * 30% + 12.8420% * 70% = 0.0996, so the WACC is determined to be 9.96% for outboard motors project. The NPV of this project is positive and equal to $35,630,973.63, the IRR for the outboard motors has calculated to be 8%. From these calculation we can know the project's beta is lower than project front– end loader project and the risk is lower also; from the decision rule the NPV > 0 and IRR > R, so we choose the outboard motor project. The Front End Loader Project The front–end loader project would require that the company would produce small front–end loaders and sell its product to construction companies, farmers and ranchers through retail establishments and to the military and municipal government directly. • 56. Personal Narrative Essay On A Skid Loader Thunder cracked across the sky, which at that point was not good. We had just started baling square bales and if they got rained on that wouldn't be good. They aren't small bales either they're around 850 pounds. I hopped in the skid loader and realized that it had the bucket on it. So I pulled it around the corner to get the pallet forks on it (which also work very well for picking up large bales). I took the bucket off at the pull of two levers and put the pallet forks on at the push of the same two levers. I took off to go get started picking up the bales, but as you probably already know skid loaders don't go very fast. I got on the field and started to pick up the bales and dropping them over the fence. I got five over then it started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hopped in the skid loader and went around back and put the bucket back on it, while my mom and sister hopped in the Kawasaki gator. We went to the field that it broke in and scooped a bucket load into the back of the gator then drove it back to a spot in the horse pen so they could have food. We did this five or so times, then scooped one more load into the gator, and put the rest in the skid loader. By that time that spot was full so we were putting it into a much smaller spot that I directed my sister into. Next she dumped the hay. As she was backing up, she shook the bucket one more time pointing it straight down. At that time the 500 lb bucket jumped off the skid loader and fell plummeting towards the ground. Leaving a 4 inch indent in the ground, then falling back on my foot. Luckily it bounced back off my foot rather than staying on and us having to lift it off. My sister jumped out of the skid loader and questioned, "Are you ok?" I managed to blurt out, "Go get mom." She ran up and got mom while I rolled around on the ground in pain. Mom and my sister came down in the car to pick me up and put me in the backseat. They took me up to the house to look at my foot (my mom was an occupational therapist), and we decided to go to the E.R. in Mason City. They gave me some crutches and we took ... • 62. Training Is A For A New Position Training is something that every company is familiar with, which usually takes place when an employee joins the organization. Some companies tend to have more extensive training while others lack depth due to a lack of skills in the realm of training. Either way, training is not uncommon to have with an organization. In the case study, Jim had applied for a new position in his company as a backhoe/front–end–loader. Even though Jim has never operated a back hoe before he applied for the position and much to his surprise landed the job. On Jim's first day, his training consisted of learning how to check the hydraulic fluid and was told that the machines are fool proof. Although that may be the case, Jim still was lacking with how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Jim would have a valid reason for his lack of skills due to no training, it still wouldn't fix the situation. It is difficult to guess why the company provided so little training to Jim. It is a possibility that the experience other crew members have had with a backhoe that they believed it would be just as easy for Jim and that he would pick up on it quickly. It is also possible that the company is used to hiring people with experience on the different types of heavy machinery and have never had a demand for in–depth training. It is unclear as to why Jim's company decided to hire him with his lack of experience. The fact that Jim did not know how to even turn on the machine should have been a red flag for the hiring committee. This is unacceptable by any company. It is even more unacceptable when heavy machinery is involved and someone could potentially be injured or hurt. Jim took matters into his own hand and decided to dig the best way he thought was possible. Although it is admirable that he used his critical thinking skills, it cost the company more money to fix the problems that he was continually causing by digging too deep and breaking the water lines along with gas lines. Thankfully Jim decided to go out of his way and seek advice from an expert. It did not cure Jim's poor digging skills but it did enlighten him and gave him new skills and techniques to focus on. • 66. The Implementation Of Employee Resistance processes, machinery capabilities, space utilization, holding inventory storage and their accounting systems among others (Bartlett, 1991, p. 5). Further internal competition was realized by the employees whose roles would be directly impacted by the changes needed. Employee resistance was a result of a failure to implement the strategy. The implementation phase was too abrupt and overly ambitious, resulting in the employee's inability to effectively engage in the new processes and strategic intent (Bartlett, 1991, p.6). The organization had focused too much of their time on the strategic intent of the organization rather than on how the changes would impact employees (Pryor, 2007, p.6). As employees are "the active ingredient in the implementation equation" there should have been a considerable amount of energy focused on how the changes would affect employees (Pryor, 2007, p. 6). Strategic intent is something which is not easily obtained in the near–term but realizable in the long–term. Accordingly, the fast pace of change would not result in effective implementation of the strategy. Further, internal employee challenges may be a result of the organization failing to "sell" the destiny and direction components of their strategic intent. Perhaps these components were easily understood by leadership but not effectively communicated down the line to other personnel. A key component of strategy implementation is based on communication of purpose. "The elements that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Depending on the scope of work and the size of the job more than one piece of machinery may be used; the model, size, and people operating the equipment will differ too. The equipment, personnel, area, and project factors may be different for every job but they all share a common factor, risk. This factor aids contractors to determine the type of equipment to choose and the supplier to provide the equipment for the project as well. Each specific area in construction uses various types of equipment, every piece of equipment has a different purpose. The contractor must determine for each project and the scope of work assign what equipment to use, and whether to buy or rent the equipment. For example, if a contractor specializes in concrete work and it is a job that they perform regularly, it would benefit them owning the necessary equipment; such as mixer and pump. This allows them to have the availability of the equipment when it is required. However they are responsible for all the maintenance on the equipment and inspecting it frequently, in order to keep it operating properly (pg90). If these services are not performed regularly the contractor risk the equipment being damaged or not performing to the norm. They also must be aware of the operating cost and depreciation value of the vehicle; in order to receive funds from some of the equipments retained market value (pg 92) . Now in a job that requires a special type of equipment, one not familiar with the contractor, renting may be the best option. In renting the risk factor is also there, the supplier may not have the equipment available for the time being requested or may be too far of a distance from the job site.
