4.  Protective barrier
 Blocks harmful UV (sun) rays (prevents a
sunburn on our internal organs).
 Keeps out bacteria that causes infections
 Prevents injury to inner organs
FUNCTION 1

5.  Maintain a constant body temperature:
 Shivering warms us up – when we are cold
our muscles work with our skin to make us
shiver, which cause our bodies to warm up.
 Sweating cools us down– when we are too hot
our blood carries heat closer to our skin then
the sweat evaporates off of our skin carrying
the heat away with it.
