Wieliczka is a small town in Poland founded in 1290, known for its salt mine which has been operating since prehistoric times. The salt mine now functions as a tourist attraction, with underground corridors and over 2,000 chambers including Crystal Caves and the Mikołaj Kopernik Chamber containing a salt sculpture of the famous astronomer. About a million tourists a year visit the 3 km underground tourist trail consisting of 20 chambers.

museums of Europe The museum was made by Alfons Długosz, of
the artist and the professor.
