Sasak is a native of the island of
Lombok. As with other ethnic
groups in Indonesia, Sasak tribe
comes from the descendants of
Austronesian that migrated from
mainland Asia approximately 5,000
years BC and lived in areas in
Southeast Asia to the South Pacific
Islands. Sasak tribes using the Sasak
language as their language.
Most of Sasak people are Islam.

Ayam Taliwang
Lombok’s sasak people enjoy spicy food such
as ayam taliwang which is roasted chiken
served with peanut, tomato chilli and lime
dip. Pelecing is a spicy sauce used in many
dishes made with chilli, shirmp paste, and
tomato. A local shrimp paste called lengkare
is used on the island of lombok.

lower are hard to notice. Whereas,
those which are 7 on the Richter
scale causes serious damage over
large areas.
