3. Mac Computer
I had access to the apple Mac computer because they have them in
college, the mac is what I did almost all of my coursework on and it is
what Photoshop, InDesign, word and PowerPoint is on
I learnt many shortcuts on how to do useful things on the mac, such as
screenshot (Shift+cmd+4)
Photoshop and InDesign are both made for Mac computers, and I used
them on the mac rather than a windows computer because it made it a lot
easier
I did, however do most of my blogging on a windows computer because it
was easier, I did find that it was difficult to transfer some files from mac to
windows computer, however
4. Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is what I used to create my magazine cover and
contents page, also my two mock covers (college magazine and mock
music magazine covers)
I found that Photoshop is a lot easier to use than InDesign, but that may be
because I had come across Photoshop before and had some experience
with it
I did watch many Photoshop tutorials in order to find out how to do some
things, such as change background colours
I also learnt how to link a Photoshop document with an InDesign document,
which became very helpful in creating a background for my double page
spread
5. Adobe InDesign
I used InDesign for the creation of my double page spread
InDesign was the hardest piece of technology to use for me, I found it
was very complicated and difficult
I had to go on YouTube in order to find video’s on how to insert picture
and make these images fit the boxes I made
After a bit of practise I finally figured out how to do everything I
needed and it became easier for me to use InDesign
I also learnt that fonts that you download for Photoshop also work in
InDesign which was very helpful in creating my double page spread
6. Microsoft Word and
PowerPoint
I used microsoft word and powerpoint for my coursework and
blogging, I also used slideshare to upload these powerpoint
presentations to my blog
I had used both of these and I have had plenty of practise, therefore
these were the easiest to use.
Microsoft PowerPoint is very useful in putting courswork into a
different form, making it more interesting to look at rather than just
blocks of text
7. Wordpress
I used wordpress to do my blogging
Wordpress is very useful because it is free to use and to create an
account, therefore it was the easiest to use for a media coursework blog
A good thing about wordpress is that you can go back and edit your
previous posts which is very useful as I could go back and improve
everything
I could also use previous blogs from people who have done media
studies in the past, this is good because I know what I need to aim for
and what quality my blog needed to be
I also learnt how to embed YouTube videos which means I was able to
upload the photoshop tutorials I used etc.
