2. Throughout the process and construction of making my music magazine I have learnt many new skills. Doing
this magazine really helped me expand my knowledge on the amount of work that goes into one magazine,
as well as gaining knowledge on various different programs such as adobe Photoshop. Where I learnt how to
enhance change and manipulate photos to make them appeal to an audience specific to my genre and age
range. There was a lot of technology that needed to be used throughout my production, I used the following
technology :
Canon 600 D
Lighting
Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
Internet explorer ( Google, Blogger Etc.)
Microsoft power point / Slide share
Mobile Phone
Microsoft Word
Technology
3. Canon 600 D
I used this canon SLR camera to take the photos for my
magazine which was a crucial part of my final product. By
using digital SLR camera it meant that I could srr the
photographs instantly after I had taken them meaning
that it was easy to see this aspects I needed to change
and adapt such as lighting to make the image better.
The camera had a large memory which meant I could
take loads of photos and decide afterwards which were
the best. Throughout the production I have learnt a lot
about this camera including many universal functions
such as ISO, aperture and iris, this allowed me to get the
best outcome.
4. Adobe Photoshop CS3
I used Photoshop CS3 to adjust the images before using
them in my magazine, by using Photoshop I learned how
to manipulate images by adjusting contrast and
brightness. I also used Photoshop to add text and create
my whole production. I learned how to use this
programme by researching tutorials on the internet
which were easy to use and remember for future
reference.
5. Internet Explorer
I used internet explorer to conduct my research into codes and
conventions before the production of my magazine which helped me
during the process of my magazine. I also used internet explorer to
research tutorials during the production of my magazine to learn about
how to use the camera and how to use Photoshop.
I also used the internet to constantly update my progress onto blogger,
throughout the process I learned a lot about blogger and it tuned out very
useful in recording my research, and the layout meant that I could refer to
it with ease. I would have not been as easy if it were not recorded on
technology/Blogger and would have been even more difficult if it was in
another form such as written.
6. Mobile Phone
I used my iPhone 6S to again use the internet in order to
conduct further research
I took my mobile phone to use Facebook messenger app as
well as iMessage to keep in contact with my focus group to
get their opinions and ideas for my magazine. The use of
convergence in this piece of technology meant that I could
email these screenshots to myself which made the
production process easier and quicker.
7. PowerPoint/ Slide share
I used Microsoft PowerPoint during my research to co-
ordinate the common codes and conventions of music
magazines, I put it in a PowerPoint as it was a clear and
organised way of presenting my research in a concise format
which means it was way easier to refer to at a later date.
I used SlideShare in order to embed my presentations onto
blogger. I created a SlideShare account uploaded my
PowerPoint presentations and transferred the embedding link
onto my blog in order to make it easy to navigate
8. In Conclusion
Programming Whilst making my music magazine I had to express my knowledge and understanding of different programs.
Programs such as adobe Photoshop extended Cs3 (and adobe InDesign when designing my double page spread mock up) were
used to help make my magazine as professional as possible. Adobe Photoshop Cs3 helped me enhance , alter and remove
background and filter my images to make them look as eye – catching and interesting as possible, also I could convert my
images to make them to the best quality without ruining the original quality of the images and without leaving the image
pixelated . I wanted to try a different program to see if I could handle it better so used Adobe InDesign which helped me build
up my double page spread, the program helped create separate layers and the quality of the text was so clear ,even when
zoomed in , and at the end it compressed the layers into one end product which is my magazine, also this program allowed me
to build up layers without bleeding one image into another, however I found this program took me longer to use and i found
harder to navigate therefore when creating my final construction I stayed using adobe Photoshop extended Cs3.
Photography For my photography I used a cannon camera, this was very helpful for the outcome of my photos. This was a
digital camera which allowed me to view the photos once id taken them so I knew what looked good and what didn’t . It also
meant that I could see if I needed to adjust the angle of the photo or if I needed to change anything else (my model). I learnt a
lot when using the camera such as, how to change the brightness or how to zoom in and out. Due to this being my own camera I
had a lot of understanding about the settings and which ones would work well and what wouldn’t
ICT Skills I used various different programs such as blogger and slide share which were new to me. Blogger allowed me to make
posts and create pages expressing my work in new forms of media such as uploading PowerPoint presentations onto slide share,
so I could then embed my PowerPoints like this one onto my blog.Uploading and downloading was difficult to start with and
took me a while to understand however once I got used to it, it was easy to convert files and upload them.
