1. Causes and Consequences of Global Warming
Causes and Consequences of Global Warming Our planet earth has been experiencing
increased temperatures as indicated by scientific research since the mid 20th century, a
phenomenon we now refer to as global warming. Earth receives a continuous flow of solar
radiation which passes through the atmosphere and warms the earth. With increase in
temperature the earth sends heat energy back to the atmosphere and some of this heat is
absorbed by atmospheric gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxides, ozone,
halocarbons and water vapor. These gases occur naturally in the atmosphere forming a
blanket over the earth and they retain the infrared radiation from the earth keeping it
warm[i]. This green house gases keep the earth’ s average temperature warm enough to
sustain the life plants, animals and humans. Global warming refers to the rise in the average
temperatures of the earth’ s surface and the oceans (especially in the recent times). Global
warming has been mainly attributed to anthropogenic causes. There are many natural
causes for the warming and cooling processes of the earth such as variations in solar
luminosity, volcanic eruptions and radiative forcing as a result of variations in atmospheric
composition particularly in the green house gases. Green house gases naturally have a mean
warming effect on the earth.. Place an order with us to get a customized paper similar to this
