1. Review and Improvements of
Magazine

2. In my focus group I talked with 6 people which suit my target
audience. I asked them what they liked about my ideas, and
what they disliked. I asked them to be honest, and if they
disagree with something, to help find an improved solution
together.
First of all I asked them what they thought the picture on the
front cover should be like. I told them that I was thinking of
taking a Medium Close Up shot of an actor, who would wear
jeans, sneakers, a hoodie and cap to resemble the typical Hip-
Hop and Rap fan outfit. Two people in the group disagreed with
this proposal, and together we came up with the idea to make
him dress up
In a black leather jacket and jeans, a white T-shirt and trainers.
We thought that the improved outfit would make the actor look
more like an actual artist compared to the old outfit, as ‘almost
everyone walks around wearing that’.
I then suggested a gold headline, written in a swerve font, to
represent the flow of Rap and the smoothness of Hip-Hop. My
focus group responded positive to the idea.

3. The questionnaire told me that people would either
prefer to have it in chronological order or in order
of importance. So when I asked the focus group,
they responded with the suggestion of having it in
chronological order, but to then also highlight very
important articles or pages.
I then asked the group what kind of picture would
look best on a content page. They responded with
several different ideas, but the one I liked most was
to have a picture of an artist on the street, to
represent the life style of some of the greatest
rappers, who were raised by the streets.

4. As there will be a lot of writing on the double page spread, the group
advised that I should also have a decent amount of pictures in the double
page spread, to keep the reader interested and active.
After my questionnaire I wasn’t sure to do a summary of a musical event or
if I should do an interview with some kind of underground rapper.
When I asked the focus group, some said to do the musical event and some
advised me to do the interview. In the end we came to the conclusion that
the interview would be more effective, as the reader is likely to be interested
in a new rapper, compared to an event which the reader didn’t even attend,
but can only read about it.
