Question one of my survey simply asks how the target
audience would like their magazine contents to be laid out.
Almost 60% of the reply’s I got back stated that the audience
preferred a house theme including something interesting to
draw the eye such as a mind-blowing image that immediately
catches you’re attention.
Question two asks how the audience would like their magazine
cover laid out. There was a tied response between ‘Large image
with small text’ and ‘Just something that draws you in as a person’
Analysing this has helped me to understand that many people love
large images, but at the same time, Would prefer an image that
that stands out to them. This means I have to think of many ways to
cater to the audiences preferences.
Questions four to six simply ask how the audience likes their lay
out. I want to create a house style and to do that, I need a base
and colour scheme. The audience wants a magazine that
doesn’t beat around the bushes, they want pure rock but with
a presentation that is unique. This is where my Ideas are
beginning to form in my head.
Now, those who I have asked between that ages of 11-18 say
they like some rock songs, but are not a huge fan of the genre
as a whole. So I later on decided to ask those over google plus
who are over 18, it proves that the more mature generation
understand the music and listen to it for both the words,
meaning and the beat of the music itself.
Question seven askes what the favourite band is of the
audience asked. Many of the older target audience go with the
classics such as Guns N Roses. Some of the younger generation
go for Linkin Park and Evanscence. This proves that I have a
wide range of artist to look at in order to capture my audience.
For the audiences that do not like rock, this magazine will not
be aimed at their tastes as their opinion on what should be in it
does not matter. I have also learned through gaining answers
from this questionnaire, that there is a wide majority of
audiences 12+ that much prefer easy listening such as Hip
hop…which asks more questions than answers considering it
can be a rather violent genre. There are many in the world who
show an appreciation for instruments, so If I was to include a
musical spread, I would add the things that show an
appreciation for those instruments.
