3. 2
This dua is quoted by Syed ibn-e-Tawus in his
book- Mahj'ul dawaat.
It is reported by Imam Hussain (as) that one one
cold and chilly night he and his father Imam Ali
Ibn-e-Abi-Talib (a.s.), were returning after
performing the tawaff at the holy Kaaba. They
caught sight of a paralysed young man crying his
eyes out in repentance. They approached him and
offered him support and consolation. That is where
they learnt about his sorry plight.
The man known as Manzil Ibn Lahiq disclosed
that he was a habitual sinner, who always mocked
and disrespected his father One day; after the man
stole his father’s money. In a fit of anger the father
invoked a curse upon him. As a result, paralysis
befell on him. The man begged his father for
forgiveness and implored him to pray for his cure.
The father, however, passed away before he could
do so.
Imam Ali Ibn-e-Abi-Talib (a.s.) wrote this dua and
gave it to the man, with instructions to recite it
4. 3
after Isha salat. Next day, fully cured, the man
came to Imam Ali and said that he had recited this
dua as advised and went to sleep. He saw the
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) in a dream. The
Prophet gently touched his body with his hand and
asked him to always recite this dua for it contains
Ism-e-Azam (the greatest name of Allah).
Whoever recites this dua regularly after Isha salat
will benefit from many blessings from the
Almighty. All legitimate desires will be fulfilled.
Poverty and sickness will be eradicated. Sins are
forgiven. Debts are cleared. Enemies become
friends. Domestic issues are eased. Disputes are
favorably settled. Prisoners are set free. Mental
worries disappear. Prosperity, sound mind and
healthy body stand by you at all times. Defects
will be hidden and the supplicant will be granted
safety from all evil.
The Almighty's Mercy and forgiveness are the main
rewards of this dua,- if recited regularly.
