2. Options
• Plan A
• Wildlife magazine based in Hampshire in the New Forest, describing the different
animals and what can be seen there; how the community have come together in
order to protect the wildlife.
• I want my magazine to appeal to a family orientated target audience and therefore
as I often visit the New Forest with my family and have a great day out, I felt it
would be a good place to base my magazine on, as I have some primary knowledge
of what attractions are there and what people can see and do.
• Plan B
• Animal cruelty
magazine-local stories
about how animals are
treated. Local
organisations like
RSPCA; Battersea etc..
• Plan C
• Summer time
magazine- Ideas of
activities and recipes
for the summer.
• Plan D
• Clothing and make
up magazine.
3. Constraints on my idea
• Location- As my location is set in Hampshire, I will have to travel to get
pictures of the surroundings and wildlife; but this could be an issue if I
have no transport.
• Equipment- I will need a camera and tripod to capture the wildlife and I
will need a computer to type up my magazine.
• It is aimed at a specific audience- those who are interested in wildlife
which could make it hard to advertise and promote if I do not have a large
number of people interested.
• It could be too factual and lack entertainment if I do not describe and
engage the audience through my writing and fail to use many good quality
pictures.
• Copyright- The name and style of my magazine could already be on the
market which means I would have to alter my idea slightly.
4. Timings

5. Locations
Photos
• New forest- I will photograph the animals (horses) at the new forest; the
community and the nature (bushes, trees and flowers).
• Pictures of the journey up there to show the views that can be seen when
travelling by car.
• I may take a photo of Bournemouth to show the contrast between industrialized
areas and rural areas.
Text
• Collect the opinions of people living in burley and who own local shops.
6. Experts
• I will aim to talk to people in charge of maintaining the New
forest and from the New Forest District council who protect
animal welfare. I may also interview people from
organisations like the RSPCA who aim to protect animals.
8. Solutions for overcoming problems:
• Location- If I was unable to get transport to the New forest to collect pictures; I
would ask permission to take photos from the internet of the wildlife at the New
forest and also to collect opinions I would email the owners of the organisation, to
ask if they could answer a few questions over email.
• Equipment- If I was unable to get a camera from school, I would use my camera
from home even though the quality isn’t as good, but the pictures would still be a
primary source. If I could not access a computer at home I would stay after school
to use the computers available.
• My main audience will be the older generation but in order to expand the
audience I will include lots of pictures or cartoons to appeal to younger people.
• To keep the audience engaged I will use inviting and persuasive language to make
them want to visit the New forest.
9. Equipment
• Camera
• Tripod
• Notepad
• Pen
• Computer (with appropriate software).
• I will be accessing all equipment from school as I do not own a camera or
tripod and I do not have the correct editing software in order to edit at
home. This again puts time constraints on when I can go and take images
in Hampshire and so the amount of photos I capture may not be enough
to conform to a professional standard. However I can overcome this by
organising another visit and time slot to take the camera out of school.
Moreover I will have to stay in school extra hours in order to edit the
images to increase the quality.
10. Typography and Colours
• The language form that I will be using mostly is informal language to relate
to the readers idiolect and also to make it easy and engaging to read.
• However due to the location being in Hampshire, most of the readers will
most probably be from a wealthy background and so some sophisticated
vocabulary could be appealing to that type of audience.
• Lastly to appeal to an audience outside the area, I will need to include
some descriptive and persuasive language which could be done using
superlatives which can be both formal and informal.
• With my magazine, I intend to use a lot of pictures as I feel there is
nothing more persuasive than actually visualising the object, rather than
creating an image in your head from the written text.
• Colours- I want to keep the colours of the magazine natural and so mostly
green colours will be used. However the content of the magazine needs to
be kept professional and therefore I will use black text.
