2. What is Animation??
• Collection of images rapidly displayed to
provide visual change over time.
• There are three types of animation:-
– 2D Animation
– 2 ½D Animation
– 3D Animation
3. 2D Animation
• x and y axes of the screen
• Simple and Static ,not changing their
position on the screen
• Examples are
-Powerpoint Animation
-Flash Animation
-Analog computer Animation
4. 2 ½D Animation
• Z axis is added to an image through
shadowing and highlighting.
• But image itself still rests on the flat x and y
axes in two dimensions.
5. 3D Animation
• x ,y and z axes are consider
• Creation of front, back, sides, top, and
bottom to move towards or away from the
viewer
• Examples are
-Motion Capture
-Cel Shaded Animation
6. Animation Techniques
• Cel animation
• Computer animation
• Kinematics animation
• Model animation or stop motion animation
7. Cel Animation
• Cel derived from the clear celluloid sheets
that were used for drawing each frame
• Divided into different frames
• Process of Tweening
• After the process, pencil frames are made,
checked and at last animated movie is
prepared.
9. Computer Animation
• Same as Cel Animation
• But concentrate on color values, edge
detection and layering so that image can
blend or produce more effect.
10. • The screen is blanked to a background color, such
as black.
• Then a goat is drawn on the right of the screen.
Next the screen is blanked, but the goat is re-
drawn or duplicated slightly to the left of its
original position. This process is repeated
11. Kinematics Animation
• Kinematics is the study of the movement
and motion of structures that have
joints,such as walking man.
• Software like
-Curious Lab’s Poser(3-D Program)
-Lightwave and Maya
• Morphing
12. Model animation or stop motion
animation
• alter the scene, shoot a frame, again alter
the scene and shoot a frame and so on, to
create the animation.
• claymation, this is a type of stop-motion
animation using figures made of clay or a
similar malleable material
14. File Formats
• It includes Director(.dir and .dcr)
• AnimatorPro( .fli and .flc)
• 3D Studio Max( .max)
• SuperCard and Director(.pics)
• CompuServe GIF89a(.gif)
• Flash( .fla and .swf)
