When it comes to what I describe as a perfect world, I envision a place with no stress, expectations, or obligations. I imagine a world with the
financial freedom to enjoy life without living paycheck to paycheck. No money, problems, or bad circumstances. While some may agree with me,
others may have their own definitions of what they consider to be a utopia. Perhaps some individuals may like the fact that we live in a society
where we must work hard for the things we want in life, even if that means practically being a slave to society. I feel that my version of a utopia

An Island Is Its Own World
An island is its own world. It is isolated from the world, surrounded by nothing but oceans. I lived on such an island, isolated from the rest of the
world. It was wonderful there and I was happy with the way things were. Then everything changed when my family and I left our small island to a
whole new world. Everything was perfect the way they were. I was born in Guam, a small US territory in the South Pacific. I was eight and happy
with everything. The weather was always hot and humid with the occasional rain or typhoon, but I didn't mind. My neighbors were wonderful,

How big is my world? Everyone says that Holland, or Hope College, is a bubble. In someway I can agree with that statement, but I also know that
because there are other things out there, it is just a stepping–stone to find out about the world. I have been lucky enough to been able to live in a safe
world due to my parents, but I have also been given the chance to explore what is out there. Some of the ways that have given me a chance to
understand how big the world is around me are through two different roommate situations, previous experiences, and thinking big picture. Over the
past four years, I have had many different roommates, who all come with a different backstory. It is through them that I have been given the chance to
realize that my world had been bigger than theirs. My freshman year roommate was from Michigan, went to a Christian school, and was valedictorian.
My high school experience was the exact opposite, Indiana, public school, and not number 1 in my class. Our experiences were very different as
she excelled in classes like religion and cultural heritage as her school focused on those, but the science classes we took together I did a lot better.
This helped me see the world from understanding her background as she knew the more hypothetical and questioning aspect whereas I knew the facts
of what was around me. Though our experience together, I became to realize how our educational experiences shaped us into how we saw the world.

Whether we know it or not, we make use of metaphors daily in many ways to help us make sense of the world. A metaphor is defined as a figure of
speech that identifies an object or an idea that is similar to an unrelated thing. The use of metaphors and the language that they portray help to create
new insight into the universe. They not only help classify the natural world, and help interpret the scientific world, but they also set outlooks on
individuals culture and society; however, some may argue that metaphors are an impractical use of our language that only complicate things that

Art In The Modern World
Mankind has gone through many challenges and hardships to get to where they presently are. As a result, modern humans are completely different
from the first humans that walked on Earth. However, there has been a couple of things that have prevailed even after all these changes, and one of
them is art. Art has always been present in the history of humankind, from ancient civilizations to the modern society. But, what makes art so important
that it continues on through history?
The book Station Eleven, written by Emily St. John Mandel, explores the importance of art, in which it narrates the lives of various people that are
connected by Arthur, a celebrity who dies in chapter one, before and twenty years after the Georgian Flu incident. The book depicts that even though
the circumstances in the old and new world are different, people in both worlds have a desire to pursue the creation of art. The creation and final work
of art is essential in human lives because art provides a way to express one's emotions, art provides satisfaction to both the creator and viewer, and it
immortalizes the subject so that it can be remembered throughout generations. Therefore, as a result of the outcomes of art, humans will always have a
desire to create art in spite of all the circumstances.
To begin with, art is used to express one's feelings. Miranda, Dr. Eleven's author, was considerably wealthy, however, regardless of all her wealth,
she still needed an outlet to express herself, and that was her comic, Dr. Eleven. She used art to express her uncomfortableness in her new life. For

We are told from birth that all seven of us are like islands. We have no connection and no communication. Each of our islands has the SC, Superior
Class, the TC, Traditional Class and the GC or Ground Class. "The only thing you ever need to know is the information that SC has." We are told to
spread that information and only that information, and if we do not, we are warned that punishment will come.
Our world revolves around our internet, and SC is all knowing. So they give us all the information we will ever get and ever need through the

In all of history, there have been few situations that could affect a majority of the world at once. Through a series of events, one of these situations
may be the discovery of the New World. This so–called discovery of the Americas had enriching effects for Europe, and catastrophic results for
Indigenous Americans. While those from the Old World acquired wealth and curiosity, those in theNew World were being conquered and forced into
submission while dying of disease and losing crops. Those who prospered only reigned by stepping on the heads of the unknowing. Europeans, from
the Old World, were intrigued by these new continents. They could never have expected entire new landmasses, and these feelings were even more so

Americans and became allies with them. The English tried to steal the natives land, disregarding that the natives were there first. The Spanish pursued

I agree that New Worlds need to be strikingly visual in order to make an impact because at the end of the day, any art form or media needs to gain
attention and attract viewers. A strikingly visual setting, when done right can tell many stories. New World media involves a lot of fantasy as it is a
striking, and an innovate way to view one's world in the context of another world. Avatar is one example of a New World media that is strikingly
visual and has had a huge impact in the movie industry, not only because it grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide but because of the new age
