Judging others is a Ones Personal opinion or
estimation about someone’s character or
something
Four Common Shortcuts
1-STEREOTYPE:
GENERALIZED BELIEF ABOUT A PARTICULAR
GROUP
impose own beliefs over a particular group of people
because of their race nationality and culture
For example:
-Black & white stereotype
2-Halo Effect:
if someone is good at one dimension
he/she is perceived to be good at
other dimensions as well
Drawing a general impression about an
individual on the basis of a single characteristic
For example:
•he was worst manager
•he fired people without any notice
•rude all the time
•Mean also
3-Contrast Effect:
At work place, managers usually
contrast/differentiate the employees
performance with the other employees.
1. it can arise conflicts between manager & employees. (and
between the employees as well)
2. The employees can get feel jealous with each other.
Due to which:
• They won’t get motivated anymore.
• Diminishes Enthusiasm towards work.
• They will leave their jobs, the turn over rate will get high.
4-Selective perception:
People interpret what they see on the basis of
their interest, attitudes and experiences.
In organizations, people do in this
way:
•While decoding the message to their
boss They project their own interests and
expectations
THE FACT IS:
•We don’t see reality, we interpret what
we see & call it reality
