• An Electronics Device which converts two Analog
Signals into one Digital Signal is Known as
Comparator.
• It is a Device used in Digital Logic Design That
Compares two characteristics like voltage and
Current and Gives output in form of a Digital Signal.
3. Example Of Comparator
• An XNOR Gate is an Example of Comparator.
• Two Electric Signals are compared in XNOR . If the
Positive Side signal is high then 1 is Obtained On
output Where as if Negative side Signal is High 0 is
obtained.
4. Types Of Comparator
• There Are two main Types of comparator;
• Identity Comparator
• Magnitude Comparator
Identity Comparator:
The comparator Having only one Output Terminal is
known as Identity Comparator.
Magnitude Comparator:
A Digital Comparator Having Three Output Terminals
for different Conditions is Called Magnitude Comparator.
5. Identity Comparator
• You want to compare two binary numbers and
know if they are identical?
• Look at the truth table. The result x=y can only be
equal to 1 if the inputs x and y are identical.
7. Odd Prime Number Detector
• The Circuit which gives odd Prime minterm Or it is the
method where minterms are compared to eliminate the
single variable.
• The Circuits that detects Odd prime number between 0 –
9 are considered earlier.
• Now the Circuit are improved by making 5bits system
which can detect Odd Prime number Between 0 - 31
8. Quine-McCluskey method
• The Quine-McCluskey method can be used to
simplify 5 variables Boolean expression represented
in canonical form.
• The Quine–McCluskey algorithm or the method of
prime implicate is a technique which is functionally
identical to Karnaugh mapping, but the tabular form
makes it more efficient for use in computer
algorithms.
