Since the beginning of Prohibition, the general public disregarded the legislation as hogwash. People of all classes, races, or beliefs flocked to
speakeasies in droves to drink illegal alcohol that was either produced illegally or smuggled in from other countries by land or sea.
Smuggling alcohol was a very lucrative business for the unscrupulous. In order to ease the transportation, smugglers switched from beer and wine to
hard liquor because it was more concentrated easier to hide. Since illegal liquor production was a black market, producers did not have to worry about

One night he made a remark about the sister of Frank Galluciano, and Galluciano slashed Capone's face with a pocketknife, leaving three large

intentions were taken advantage of and twisted into a multimillion dollar industry. That would give birth to one of the largestorganized crime
syndications, as well as to the rise of a man who for short time would control the largest organized crime syndications in the country, and his own
bravado would bring him to his knees.

(Sandbrook, 2012) states in an age when individual freedom is all, it comes as something as a shock to reflect that in the world's most prosperous and
dynamic country the prohibition of alcohol lasted for almost fourteen years. During this time, it allowed the gangs of Chicago to assert the influence
and power on not only the people but politicians and the government. It also created a cultural identity, we celebrate these individuals in movies and
song. When they should be vilified for the horrible blood baths that were so public and out of control. It seems that not only did Al Capone and his

Valentine's Day massacre was one of those times. February 14, 1929, 7 members of the North Side gang, led by Bugs Moran, were lured into a Chicago

A crackdown on racketeering in Chicago forced Capone to move his business to Cicero, where he with the help of his brothers, infiltrated the
government and police departments. The three brothers shared leading roles in the government and Capone would kidnap opposing election
workers and threaten voters with violence. He eventually won office in Cicero. Capone had always prided himself on keeping his temper,
however, when his friend Jack Guzik was assaulted by a thug, Capone himself tracked him down and shot him dead in a bar. Due to a lack of
