The Price to Become Green
It has been stated in the past that there is not a significant difference between the price of green and
non–green products and materials. Therefore, there is no significant difference between the price of
normal homes and zero carbon homes. It is believed that green buildings are considered to be
expensive as usually all kind of new modern building methods tend to be more expensive, according
to my questionnaire this is also true. I noticed that 60% of the people I interviewed thought that zero
carbon homes were to be ridiculously expensive. However, it would be beneficial to have a zero
carbon home as the increased initial costs offset the decreased operating costs. This is the reason so
many people prefer to have zero carbon homes, as there energy bills will be lower then before. In
2003, The Californian Sustainable Building Task Force carried out a study and according to this
study 20% of investment into green building will elaborate 10 times more saving. Meaning there is
no significant difference in prices, so a zero carbon building can be just as expensive as a
conventional building. It is evident that after this study was carried out the United Kingdom also
decided that they would try to become even more sustainable then they already are. In 2013 the
Nottingham City Council decided that they would put solar panels on the roofs of homes, this would
cost them 7,000 for each home but would generate over 300 million, which would be used to
improve the homes around

Personal Narrative: Master Bedroom Renting
On January 11, 2017, I signed a new lease for 4807 Coachmans Dr. #8 Orlando, FL 32812. I signed
it in good faith that you would keep your word and fix the master bedroom toilet, which was never
properly fixed, and the kitchen light, both of which has not worked for 170 days as of February 1,
2017. I had asked you to please get these 2 issues taken care of by January 31, 2017; your reply was
that you would contact your handyman. You told me when we first met that if I do right by you, you
would do right by me. That has not worked out well for me. I have paid my rent on time every
month and a couple of months I paid a month in advance. I even paid an extra $100 (rent increase
for January 2017), which I legally didn't have to pay, since there was no lease covering this month,
and I was, therefore, a tenancy–at–will and not bound by any agreement to pay that extra amount.
May I remind you that on February 3, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One was the master bedroom toilet; you reminded me that I have a 2–bathroom unit and should use
the second bathroom. You even asked me to turn off the water supply to the toilet. I pay for a
2bed/2bath unit and expect to have full use of both, not to have to turn the water supply off and on
every time I use the toilet. I have had company a few times during this 170 day period, the running
water disturbed my guests and it was a major inconvenience for all of us to share the second
bathroom. Due to health issues it has been extremely difficult for me to keep turning the water
supply off and on. Carmella what you have basically said is you have expected me to pay my full
amount of rent on time each month, but you have also expected me to live with a running master
bedroom toilet or toilet for 170 days. It would have been different if you had gotten the toilet fixed
in a timely fashion. Would you live with no master bedroom toilet for 170days? I think

Air Force Materials Report : Jp 8 And Aviation Fuels
Air Force Materials Report: JP–8 and Aviation Fuels
The United States Air Force exists to provide a service to the rest of the world. It's a global service
that extends out from the United States and touches every continent around the world. It has been
used to bomb evil off of the face of the Earth, drop care to those in need, and transport the strongest
fighting forces in existence around the globe. It is airpower. However, as refueling airmen like to
say, "Without us, pilots are pedestrians." (ONE) In other words, if it weren't for the fuels that power
the aircraft, the United States Air Force would grind to a disappointing halt.
The fuel that powers nearly all United State Air Force aircraft is known as JP–8, or jet propellant–8.

Chemistry:
Most aviation jet fuels are derived from Kerosene. Kerosene molecules can have varying numbers
of carbons. It can have as little as 12 or as many as 15. This means the chemical formula can be
anywhere from C_12 H_26 to C_15 H_32. (FOUR). From these basic chemical structures stem
those that form JP–8, Jet–A, and other jet fuels. Jet–A is the lowest grade of fuel made from
kerosene molecules. Typically available only in the United States to civilian aircraft, Jet–A varies
from 8 to 16 carbon atoms per molecule. Jet–A1 fuel is nearly identical to Jet–A, except that it is
manufactured to a higher standard as Jet–A, and is therefore available worldwide. Jet–A1 also
contains between 8 and 16 carbon atoms per molecule. JP–8, also commonly known as NATO F–34
by other nations, is Jet–A1 with a package of additives specifically designed for military aircraft.
These additives allow static dissipation, corrosion reduction, lubrication, anti–icing, and sometimes
anti–oxidation and metal deactivation (FIVE).
A majority of corrosion inhibition and lubrication in JP–8 is due to dilinoleic acid. Dilinoleic acid is
a polar molecule. Its formula is C_36 〖H_64 O〗_4 (SIX). The polar groups found in dilinoleic
acid naturally adhere to metal surfaces, such as those found in an aircraft engine. This creates a
natural film between moving parts in the engine, thus increasing lubrication

The Meaning Of Art : What Is Art?
Regardless of taste, art has been a part of our lives for as long as humanity has existed. For
thousands of years, individuals have been creating, scrutinizing, and enjoying art. Many will ask the
question: "What is art?" Humanity has faced this question for many centuries. For instance, how are
we able to distinguish between fine art and a sculpted piece. I think one of the easiest distinctions to
make between these different forms of art is the artist and the artist's overall objective. The
connection between the message of the artist and what he/she accomplishes through the medium can
classify artwork. Many people assume fine art is made for an elite society. However, individuals are
not required to understand the meaning behind art in order to enjoy it. Phenomenal art immediately
captures the human eye. Whether the artist is trying to evoke emotion, a particular idea, or
something beyond human comprehension. The most important thing is how well the viewing
audience receives it. Inventive art pieces spark the discussion on whether those pieces are labeled as
art or not. Art is something that inspires people, something that transports us into new realities and
moves us into subconscious places we never thought existed. One might ask, "What is art?" I
believe that art does not need to represent beautiful objects or events that have taken place in the
past. Artist Pied Mondrian, for example, was a Dutch painter and an important leader in the abstract
movement of art.

Visible Light Communication Essay
1. INTRODUCTION
Visible light communication (VLC) is an upcoming technique which can be used for data
communication which uses visible light. Li–fi is a subset of OWC–Optical wireless communication
and it can be used as a complement to RF communication (Wi–Fi or cellular network).
As Lamps are the common source of room lighting, they are providing a new pathway for linking
mobiles to the Internet, with the potential for wider bandwidth and it has a quicker response time
than Wi–fi. As there are differnet sources, the speed of the transmission also varies. Ordinary lamps
can transmit the signal with the speed of 10kbit/s whereas LEDs are used to get transmission speeds
upto 500Mbit/s and with the help of powerful LEDs we can achieve the speed of 10 Gbit/s.
At the receiving side, Devices containing photodiode receive signals from light sources. In few
cases, digital camera may also be sufficient. The sensors used for receiving signals are infact an
array of photodiodes(pixels), where each one can be used as separate channel to provide multi–
channel propagation.
PLC– Power Line Communication is also like VLC, developed in the same era and is the method of
transmitting data on transmission lines meant for electric power distribution to comsumers. The basic
principle involved in PLC is that these can be operated by adding a carrier signal to the existing
wiring system. The propagation problem is a limiting fator for PLC's. Low Frequencies are
generally to carry data over

Energy Audit Paper
We all use energy in multiple ways and for many different reasons. We use energy to heat and cool
our homes, to run our automobiles, to stay connected, and illuminate our lives. The average US
residential utility customer in 2014 used 911 kWh per month, or 10,932 kWh a year (Frequently
Asked Questions, 2015). In order to find out just how and where energy is consumed within a home
one must conduct and energy audit. In this assignment an energy audit of my residential home will
be completed. My home is a single–story, detached home with 1942 sqft. It is home to two young
children and three adults. This residential audit will examine twenty different items throughout the
home that have an effect on the energy consumed. This residence is an all–electric ... Show more

Why are full spectrum LED lights better than HPS lights?
One of the most difficult and befuddling tasks of an indoor grower is to select the best light source
for the proper growth of plants. After all, it really is an important task to find a replacement for the
natural sunlight. In all other choices over items for indoor growing, people are usually able to
narrow down to a particular item but in the context of the light source, users find themselves
bamboozled. The market is replete with light sources and they only contribute to making the indoor
growers more and more perplexed. However, when acquainted with certain facts, any indoor grower
can make an informed decision about the light source that would be most suitable for your plant. ...

But as they had no option their loyalty rested with the HPS light sources. But once LED light source
was able to establish itself in the market, the loyalty of the customers gradually shifted to the
product which offered the best services viz. LED light sources.
Now, let's delve into the details of pros and cons of each of these light sources.
HPS light source provides the indoor plants with heat and light required for their growth. But the
only bad point in this regard is that it provides heat and light in excess. The additional heat and light
are harmful to the plant. An excess of heat may cause the leaves to burn and thus destroy the plants.
Hence, in order to vent out the excess and protect the plant from the damage, a ventilation system
needs to be incorporated along with HPS light sources. This makes the HPS light sources very
bulky. Moreover, as the HPS light sources provide excess heat and light, they also consume more
power. Thus it aggrandizes the cost incurred by the indoor grower while availing the facilities
offered by the HPS light sources. Also, it makes them less energy efficient.
LED light sources with their plethora of services have won the heart of a crescendo of customers.
Firstly, LED light sources are cheaper than HPS light sources which makes it economically feasible
for the consumers. Secondly, LED light sources exude just enough quantity of heat and light as may
be required by the

All 71 Refugees Crammed Into The Dark, Confined Space,
All 71 refugees crammed into the dark, confined space, hoping that soon they would see the light of

still and silent, trying to sleep through the rough journey. The rusty ventilation fan that provided
limited air supply continued to make grating sounds. This all made sleeping much more difficult.
The tiny light bulb, which provided their only source of light, continued to flicker like a mini strobe
light. In each momentary snippet of blackness, they all died a little, only to come alive again in the
next shallow burst of glimmer.

As time passed, the impatient mayor couldn't take it anymore. He impulsively pushed past the rows

yelled, "Let us out!"
The driver angrily shouted back, "This is not a 5–star luxury cruise! Shut up and wait till we get

The mayor was embarrassed by his failed attempt. He walked back with his head down.

How To Prevent Global Warming In Canada
Global warming is a concern to everybody in Canada. Unless Canadians act now, the problems will
increase and become a massive controversy for future generations. Shocking to say, but, Canada has
about 0.5 percent of the world's population, but yet contributes to about 2 percent of the total
greenhouse gas emissions. Along with that, in 2005, Canadians emitted about 747 megatonnes of
carbon dioxide equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions.
As a result of Canadians' actions, Canada is facing shifting rainfall patterns, rising temperatures,
increases in certain types of hazardous weather like heat waves, and the polar ice caps are melting,
resulting in habitat loss for animals such as polar bears.
Although, there are simple ways Canadians can prevent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be a considerable way to lessen the amount of greenhouse gases being released into the
atmosphere. When fuel is burned, sulphur combines with oxygen which construct emissions that
contribute to decreased air quality and have negative environmental effects. The government of
Canada says they would reduce the average sulphur content in gasoline by nearly 70 percent. This
means there would be reductions in air pollutant emissions from vehicles. By obtaining a car that is
well suited for the person and is eco–friendly, is one thing that makes a great difference in reducing
the effects of global warming. Generally speaking, Canadians need to take major action now in
order to lessen the effects of global warming. In the first place, Canadians are capable of saving
energy from their own home. In addition to that, Canadians are capable of researching about where
their food comes from. Furthermore, the Canadian government is adept of making strict greenhouse
gas emission regulations on cars. It is important to act now and help save the planet before it is too

Off Grid Solar Industry in India: Part of a Research...
Chapter – 6 Recommendations & Verification
In this section recommendations for establishing effective strategies to leverage the off grid solar
industry will be put forward that will be verified by relevant individuals active in the off grid solar
industry like academicians, industry specific consultants etc via a survey.
6.1 Financing off grid solar products via Companies Bill 2013 (R1)
The Companies Bill passed by the Indian Parliament in Aug 2013 is a major overhaul for corporates
since the decades old Companies Act 1956.
"The new rules make the earmarking of funds by companies for corporate social responsibility
(CSR) spending mandatory. Companies with market capitalization of more than Rs. 500 crore are
required to spend at least 2 per cent of their net profit on CSR such as social work or charity. The
companies will also have to give preference to the local areas of their operation for such spending. If
they are unable to meet CSR norms, they will have to give explanations and may even face penalty."
(NDTV 2013,p.1)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is these days widely practised by India Inc. and specially by
multinational companies. This bill that has very recently become a law opens an opportunity to
leverage off grid applications in rural areas.

Firebird Electric has been awarded OEM production for the lighting on the 2005 model two–door
B–car. This report focuses on the procedures and decisions involved in supplying the housing for
upcoming production.
HOUSING DEFINITION AND SUPPLY
Housings are fabricated through die injection molding. A resin is melted, injected, and stamped into
the die mold. The housing's function is to attach to the body of the vehicle, protect internal
components (cords, bulbs, etc.), and hold components in place so that the light functions as
designed. Each make/model has unique housing specifications with regard to size, durability, holes,
and necessary attachments to perform these duties.
As stated earlier, Firebird has the ability to produce housings in the molding division; however, of
the approximately 240 parts presently molded in Manufacturing IV, only 11 are housings. Firebird
also outsources production of housings to four central South Carolina molding firms: FPE, The
South Carolina Plastics Company (TOPCO), Central South Carolina Plastics (COPCO), and
Charleston Custom Plastics (WCP).
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: DEFINING REQUIREMENTS
The customer, internal departments, and potential suppliers contribute to designing quality into
molded parts. Due to Road–Master's strict quality requirements and just–in–time inventory systems,
nonconformance results in high costs, hinders customer relations, and endangers

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Led Lights
Everything in this world comes with its benefits and disadvantages. With this, here are some of the
advantages and disadvantages of the LED street lights. Advantages of the LED street lights include
the following 1. Lower consumption of energy Most of the LED lighting retrofits are said to
dramatically reduce the energy used. However, in the actual facts, studies have shown that lower
energy consumption is tied and limited to reduced levels of illumination. 2. Has predictable and long
lifetime The lifespan of the LED street lights is between 10 to 15 years. This lifespan in 2 to 4 times
the lifespan of the current prevalent HPS. The LED products do not fail like the other light sources
or barring catastrophic failure of the other electronic or mechanical components of the LED fixtures.
The lifetime of a product is typically set by decreasing luminous output by 30 percent. However, the
functional lifespan of any LED fixture is usually limited by the weakest link. The associated drive
electronics are projected to last for about 50,000 hours. It is very crucial to understand that there is
no LED streetlight product that has been in service for this long so that it can be used to ... Show

LEDs color rendering is more accurate The color rendering index of the LEDs is basically the ability
of the light source to reproduce colors of the objects correctly in comparison with an ideal light
source. An improved color rendering index makes it simpler for drivers to easily recognize the
objects. 4. You can quickly turn on and off Unlike the high intensity discharge lamps (HID) and
fluorescent lamps such as metal halide, mercury vapor as well as sodium vapor lamps, it takes time
to heat up once the switched in turned on. The LEDs usually come with full brightness instantly. 5.
Instant restart Unlike the metal halide, sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps, the LEDs do not
have any problem when restarting immediately that maybe due to inadvertent turn off or brief power

South Foreland Lighthouse was the first tower to successfully use an electric light in 1875. The
lighthouse's carbon arc lamps were powered by a steam–driven magneto. In 1870, the light at
Wicklow head was fitted with Wigham's patent flashing system, which timed the gas supply by
means of clockwork. When this mechanism was combined with a revolving lens in Rockabille
Lighthouse, the world's first lighthouse with a group flashing characteristic was produced. The use
of gas as iluminant became widely available with the invention of the Dalen Light by Swedish
engineer, Gustave Dalen. In 1906, Dalén became the chief engineer at the Gas Accumulator
Company.. Initially Dalén worked with Acetlyene, an extremely explosive Hydrocarbon gas. Dalén
invented something called Agamassan, which is a substance used to absorb the gas allowing safe
storage and hence commercial exploitation. Acetylene produced an ultra–bright white–light an as
the fuel of choice in lighthouse illuminations. Dalén incorporated another invention into his light.
This device allowed the light to operate only at night, conserving fuel, and extending their service
life to over a year. The AGA lighthouse equipment worked without any type of electric supply and
was thus extremely reliable. To a coastal area like Scandinavia, his mass–produced, robust, minimal
maintenance lights were a significant boon to safety and livelihood. AGA Lighthouses covered the

Introduction
A lava lamp (or Astro lamp) is a decorative novelty item, invented by British accountant Edward
Craven–Walker in 1963. The lamp contains blobs of colored wax inside a glass vessel filled with
clear liquid; the wax rises and falls as its density changes due to heating from an incandescent light
bulb underneath the vessel. The appearance of the wax is suggestive of pāhoehoe lava, hence the
name. The lamps are designed in a variety of styles and colours.
The underlying fluid mechanics phenomenon is a form of Rayleigh–Taylor instability.
The bulb is normally 25 to 40 watts. Generally it will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any tightly sealable container works, but you probably have an empty water bottle laying around
somewhere. Add oil, water, and food coloring to the bottle. Fill the bottle 3/4 of the way full with
vegetable oil, then top it off with water and about 10 drops of food coloring (or enough to make the
solution appear fairly dark). Cut an Alka–Seltzer or Airborne tablet into pieces. You can either ration
the pieces to make your lava lamp last longer or add more than one piece at a time for more
interesting effects. Add pieces of the tablet to the bottle. This will cause the mixture to bubble.
Repeat every time the bubbling stops. Unfortunately, with this type of lava lamp, the effects are
temporary. Put the cap on and tip the bottle back and forth. This will cause the tiny droplets of
colored water moving around inside the oil to join together, making bigger lava–squirt blobs. That 's
what scientists call them, anyway. Place a strong flashlight or search light under the bottle. This will
illuminate the bubbles for maximum effect. But don 't leave your bottle on top of a heated surface!
Plastic will melt and you 'll get oil everywhere.
With Mineral Oil & Alcohol

The Media Revolution : Science In The Medi Revolution
Science in the Media: Revolution Jessica Bradley NBC's show, Revolution explores what life might
be like almost 20 years after a worldwide blackout hits North America. The blackout in Revolution
was an "artificially–caused apocalyptic event occurring in September 2012" (Revolution, 2014.)
This event disabled all electricity. The blackout was originally a combat test on the Taliban, but a
malfunction of Nanites caused a worldwide loss of power. 15 years later, power becomes briefly
restored by the main characters Rachel and Aaron. Rachel explains in the episode The Song
Remains the Same that "a couple hundred quadrillion nanites about the size of a virus were
everywhere, programmed to absorb electricity and replicate" (Revolution, 2014.) Meaning that all
man–made forms of electricity would be disabled. In the show "the government has fallen, families
must survive by harvesting their own crops, and warlords and militias run rampant armed with what
was previously considered outdated weaponry" (McNeal, 2013.) This post– apocalyptic future is a
terrifying rendering of what could be if an EMP were to cause world–wide destruction. An EMP
sounds to most people like something out of a sci–fi novel, but Electromagnetic Pulses can be
created by a large number of situations. When you Google "How could all of the power in the world
shut off?" you will get mixed results ranging from 'Earth Hour', an effort to shut off all of the world's
power for an hour, to 'What if China or Russia Cut

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Light Emiting Diode And...
Light emitting diode or LED technology is a new sensation in commercial and residential lighting
applications. Every dark area that needs to be brightened and every object that needs indication is
now becoming lively with LEDs. The reason is simple, world is striving to save energy, and LEDs
are stars in field of energy efficient technology.
The dominating advantages of LED over the conventional lighting like; incandescent bulb and CFL,
makes them the best choice for every new installation and upgrade that needs to be illuminated.
Discussing some of the LED advantages that make them superior option:
Energy efficient
LED converts 80% of your electrical energy into light energy. So it does really justify for what you

They are already packaged in a way to emit focused light. This is a useful characteristic to feature
illumination like in jewelry shop. And, being a solid–state device they are difficult to damage with
shock.
These advantages show that LEDs in all the ways are best suitable choice for both indications and
illumination lighting applications. However, as every emerging technology has some issues, so LED
isn't untouched with it. The only disadvantage that LED installation has right now is high initial
cost. If you have guts to spend 1000 bucks for few LED light bulbs, then LED lighting is 100%
lucrative option. Also, low quality LED light will degrade in color more quickly than new branded
one, so always look for high quality Energy star rated LED bulb.
Application
Whether you are thinking about installing new lighting in home or upgrading the existing one,
looking to shine your favorite showcases, or adorn your backyard swimming pool with dramatic
lighting, LED is always there as an option for you. LED luminaries are actively creating enchant and
colorful environment in every possible sector like industrial, commercial, residential, security,
public places, hospitals, automobiles and electronics. LED has registered its presence in widespread

Short Story
She greeted me with, "¡Bom día!"
I replied with, "Good morning, Rayssa!"
It was the second day of camp, and the first activity on the list was lava lamps. It was just the old
colored water, oil solution with an alka–seltzer creating magnificent bubbles. Of course, we knew
how it worked, but the little ones thought it was magic.
After the science behind the homemade lava lamps was explained, their eyes lit up with excitement
and looked eager to learn more. Before moving on to the next experiment, I announced that the kids
could take home the lava lamps they had made. Initial looks of confusion appeared on their faces
followed by screams and gasps and elation.

Her life was different. Now, everything made sense. I understood why her mother said she was so
grateful to us for running a free, week–long STEM camp for 40 kids around the area. She never
thought Rayssa would even meet an American. That struck me as a peculiar statement. Why is it so
amazing to meet someone just because they are from America? I realized in such a small and
underserved town such as Pindamonhangaba, Brazil, where there is little to no traffic from outside,
meeting people from places you dream about going to must feel like a step closer to your dream.
I felt a new feeling that I had never felt before; it was similar to the feeling of accomplishment, but
not quite. A few weeks after I had returned from the amazing trip, our team coach told us he had
received an email from Leo, an adult who was involved with the execution of the camp. He said that
one of the kids from the camp was so inspired by us, he agreed to learn English; something his
father had been trying to persuade him to do for the last few years. He also now wanted to become
an Engineer and said he wanted to work harder in school. Leo had included a picture of the camper.
I recognized him because I remember sitting with him during lunch and answering his questions.

wanted to be when I grew up, where I went to school, how long do I plan on studying, and if I

Tennessee Williams ' A Streetcar Named Desire
The Presence of Light in "A Streetcar Named Desire"
A Streetcar Named Desire is a widely celebrated play that was written by Tennessee Williams.
Throughout this play, Williams uses a significant amount of references to light in order to make an
assertion about reality. In A Streetcar Named Desire, light represents the harsh reality that exists in
the world, particularly with Blanche. With the huge emphasis that was placed on light, Williams
asserts that Blanche's avoidance of light demonstrates an avoidance of her reality. The author
illuminates the harsh realities that exist in the world by using vivid imagery, purposeful
foreshadowing, and characterizing metaphors. In this instance, it was Blanche's desire to stay out of
the light in order to hide her age. This desire is quite evident because of her assertive tone when
regarding the subject of light. While trying to avoid light, Blanche initiated her own demise by being
forced to divulge her true age and appearance to Mitch. Because of this event, Blanche was forced
to face the harsh reality that she wished to evade for so long. Williams uses brilliant literary and
figurative elements in order to lead up to the inevitable event. Thus, the significance of light in A
Streetcar Named Desire is astronomical when placing it in context.
Upon evaluating this play, it is immediately clear that Blanche has an extreme distaste for light. In
the opening parts of the play, the stage directions say, "Her delicate beauty must avoid a

Advantages Of Electric Fly Killers
How effective are electric fly killers in killing flying insects?
Nowadays, there are always flying insects that are wandering around in a certain place and people
seem to be having a very hard time catching them and killing them at the same time. These flies are
a nuisance to every person because nobody would want to have flies in the house. People would find
these flying insects flying around mostly in their homes, however, they cannot seem to find the
source of this problem. This has occurred every year and yet, people could not find the source of
these problems. Some factors that could be affecting this problem is the change in weather of every
month or season, things that are dirty that may attract flies, etc. The magnitude of this problem may
increase if a solution is not implemented to solve this problem as soon as possible.
Application/Solution
There are different kinds of applications or solutions to this issue, ... Show more content on

The first one is that obviously, electric fly killers eliminate lots of flying insects right away, and it
greatly reduces the insect population around the area. There might be piles and piles of insects
within a few days, and while eventually there will be lesser insects, there is no denying that electric
fly killers play a huge impact on solving this issue. The second benefit is that similarly, electric fly
killers allow people to eliminate flying insects with few chemicals and not much personal
involvement. There is no health risk when it does not come to handling the electric fly killers, nor
there any risk of disturbing or a nest or facing an insect that people fear. Electric fly killers are out of
the way and it has limited personal involvement, so people would not need to involve in anything
when it comes to using electric fly killers. For many people, this is enough to make these devices a
popular choice for people that think of flies as a nuisance to

Introduction The methodology for this experiment required a lot of careful measurement and
calculations. The procedure consisted of many detailed steps to ensure accuracy when recording
measurements. This experiment was carried out in an enclosed, darkened room because the the
nature of the experiment requires a controlled temperature. Carrying out eight trials for each color of
construction paper was a more accurate way of collecting a large quantity of data. In this experiment
there were five groups of material (color) and eight experimental units in each group. There was a
total of forty sheets of construction paper used; eight sheets of each of the five colors. The reason for
testing five different colors was to determine a trend across the color spectrum in regards to the
amount of radiant energy each color is able to absorb.

Internal Investigation: Exploration Juan Garcia 11/17/15 Period 2 Problem/Question What is the
effect of varying pH solutions on the rate of photosynthesis on the Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera)
via The Floating Leaf Disc Assay? Background The Indian Lotus is an aquatic plant that is quite
popular among cultures as being sacred. It is often used to portray beauty as it grows from the mud
unstained and pure. It is also used today in many Asian foods. As such the growth of the Indian
Lotus is one that is very important to many cultures and societies. Knowledge of the optimum pH in
which the Indian Lotus grows can be significant due to how the pH of the environment the Indian
Lotus grows in can vary based upon pollution and other factors. Therefore in the event of high
pollution, or any situation that changes the pH of the environment botanists may be able to predict
or decipher the effect of that change on the growth of the plants in the area, specifically the Indian
Lotus. The experiment can also conclude the extent that pH affects Indian Lotus growth. It may
conclude that varying pH has a slight effect on Indian Lotus growth or even the ability to stop it
from undergoing photosynthesis completely and kill the organism. The experiment is important in
general to find how pH can affect Indian Lotus growth which can in turn affect other aspects such as
the diet of locals or lead to even a decrease in Indian Lotus which is culturally significant to cultures
and religions.

The Pros And Cons Of H1 Bulb
Introduction –
Few things are more important in a vehicle than a good set of headlights. Choosing inferior bulbs for
the sake of saving a couple of dollars is a mistake you will quickly come to regret. If your car is
designed for H1 bulbs, you should fit it with the best H1 bulbs you can find.
What Is A H1 Bulb? –
The H1 headlight bulb can trace it's roots back to Europe, where it was first introduced in 1962. The
first halogen lamp designed for use in cars and other automotive vehicles, the original H1 bulb
proved to be a controversial invention. So controversial, in fact, that it was banned in the United
States of America and would not be permitted for use in the country until 1997. Nowadays, H1
bulbs are not only a–okay in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that if you are replacing your headlights, you must purchase a total of four bulbs, a high
and low model for either side. Headlight bulbs only equipped to release one beam are called "single
filament bulbs".
Twin filament bulbs are designed to emit both low and high beams from a single source, so if your
car requires twin filament bulbs, you'll only have to spend money on one bulb for each side. While
this may seem more economical, the general consensus is that twin filament bulbs are nowhere near
as powerful as their single filament counterparts. Single filament bulbs are far more common than
twin filament models, with the latter being very rarely seen outside of H4 bulbs.
H1 bulbs, if you haven't guessed it already, are single filament bulbs. That might come as a bit of a
disappointment if you were hoping to keep costs to a minimum when replacing your headlights, but
it can actually work out more economical in the long run. Because single filament bulbs offer a
brighter and further reaching light, the risk of an accident is significantly lower than if you were
lighting your way using twin filament bulbs. This means the chances of you having to repair certain
parts of your car are significantly

Snellen Cheat Sheet
We all know that having good eyesight is fundamental to driving safely. The often quoted standard
for having good eyesight is the measure we know as 20/20. But what does 20/20 mean? To
understand that you must look at a Snellen Chart. That's the name of the collection of letters
displayed in ever decreasing sizes on the wall chart used by Ophthalmologists and doctors' to check
your vision. The chart is named after its inventor in 1862, Dr Hermann Snellen, a Dutch
Ophthalmologist.Snellen
The fractions shown at the side of the letters, 20/20, 20/30 etc., are measures of sharpness of sight or
visual acuity. August Colenbrander, M.D. (Smith–Kettlewell Eye research Institute and California
Pacific Medical Center) offers a good explanation of acuity measurement. He says: "If a subject
needs letters (or symbols) that are twice as large or twice as close as those that can just be seen by a
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Snellen fraction 20/20, the first number represents the test distance, 20 feet. The second
number represents the distance that the average eye can see the letters on a certain line of the eye
chart. So, 20/20 means that the eye being tested can read a certain size letter when it is 20 feet away.
If a person sees 20/40, at 20 feet from the chart that person can read letters that a person with 20/20
vision could read from 40 feet away. The 20/40 letters are twice the size of 20/20 letters; however, it
does not mean 50% vision since 20/20 sounds like it is one half of 20/40. If 20/20 is considered
100% visual effiency, 20/40 visual acuity is 85% efficient.
If a patient sees 20/200, the smallest letter that they can see at 20 feet could be seen by a normal eye
at 200 feet. This is the Snellen Acuity (English). In Metric Acuity, 20/20 equals 6/6. The conversion
is that 20 feet equals approximately 6 meters (actually 6.096).

Psychoanalytical Study of "A Streetcar Named Desire"
Summary: An analysis of some of the many symbols found in "A Streetcar Named Desire" by

helped him to convey the meaning of many characteristics of the protagonists in the play. It is very
debatable nowadays how much psychology can influence an author or how much the author's
psychological features can influence his work.

Colours
Blanche means white in French. White is the symbol of purity. She wears white at the beginning of
the play when she arrives at her sister's house. She thinks that by wearing this colour she will be
able to hide her impure behaviour. Blanche also prefers muted and muffled tones because she
doesn't want to call too much attention on herself.Blue is the colour Blanche chooses to wear on her
last day at Stanley and Stella's house. She mentions that she wants to die on the sea, and be buried at

In the first scene of the play Stanley calls Stella to the front door of their apartment and throws at
her a package of raw meat for her to catch and keep in the icebox. Stanley and Stella share a very

The Invention Of Thomas Edison
Thomas Alva Edison, an American inventor. He is the most famous of all Americans to make a
career of inventing; Edison was called the "Wizard of Menlo Park," which was his laboratory for
sometime, found in New Jersey. He was especially important for his electrical inventions. Like
many inventors of his era, Edison struggled to perfect a system of electrical home lighting. He
experimented with arc lighting in 1875, but became convinced that successful home lighting would
have to be incandescent; that is, use a material that would glow when an electric current passed
through it, but not burn in the process. (The History of the Light Bulb & Thomas A. Edison Papers)
He studied earlier experiments and in 1878 announced that he had the technical problems solved and
would create a practical incandescent lamp within six months. The invention of the light bulb
changed the world in many ways, including facilitating the creation of large power grids, changing
the social and economic structure of society and bringing other appliances into our homes. (Thomas
A. Edison Papers) Although many inventors had experimented with incandescent light bulbs,
Thomas Edison created the first widely distributed model in 1879. (The History of the Light Bulb)

The Light Bulb: A Luminous Invention
Light bulbs are an invention that transformed the modern world to what we know it to be today. It
was first created by Thomas Edison after countless hours of trial and error. He finally found a
combination that worked and lasted for twelve hundred hours. It relied on a bamboo filament and
was more efficient after Edison was able to remove more oxygen from the bulb. There are now four
main types of light bulbs: incandescent, halogens, fluorescent, and LEDs. Although performing one
basic task they all have advantages and disadvantages. Incandescent light bulbs are the oldest and
most common type of light bulb. Incandescent bulbs have filament made of Tungsten. Tungsten was
chosen to be the filament because it can be made very thin, put under high resistance and has a high
melting point. This allows electrons to return to lower energy states and it releases photons that are
visible to the human eye. Inside of the light bulb, manufactures have to fill bulb with a combination
of nitrogen and argon because they are less reactive than oxygen we breathe (Uva, 2011, p. 1). The
light bulb actually works due to electrical current being passed through the filament. The electrons
of the filament become excited which causes the filament to get hot and glow creating the light.
When the tungsten is heated it sublimates which caused incandescent light bulbs to get darker over
time. After being used for a certain amount of time, the tungsten wire becomes thin and breaks. This
causes the

Essay on California Space Heaters
California Space Heaters, Inc.
November 30, 2010
There is a fine line between how much safety a corporation should provide to the consumer
regarding its products vs. how much responsibility of safety should fall on the average consumer.
Take, for instance, the all too familiar McDonald's coffee episode. Does McDonald's have a
responsibility to its customers to ensure the coffee isn't hot enough to scald if spilled upon one's lap?
Or should the customer be held responsible for their own safety in regards to common sense
judgment? This is what California Space Heaters, Inc. (CSH) must consider when deciding exactly
which products to launch. Kerosene heaters are often times used in shops and garages as well as
inside homes. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A corporation that has been given such estimates from its engineering department has a
responsibility to implement a safety device. Electric start is the single most important option that
should be incorporated on all models for safety reasons. The profile of users in a shop or garage
setting differs greatly from users in a home. Users in a shop or garage are more likely to be
mechanically inclined. Additionally, safety features are arguably more important in a home than in a
shop or garage. In a home, the heater is typically closer to combustibles, including furniture,
curtains, and carpet. Due to these variables, CSH should market an indoor/outdoor heater and an
outdoor only heater. The only necessary option on the outdoor heater is the electric start, as
previously discussed. A shop or garage user will likely be more mechanically inclined and able to
adjust the wick accurately. A thermostat shouldn't be needed because the unit will less likely be near
combustibles. Overheating due to flare–ups will not be as big of an issue either because of the
surroundings, not to mention the user is more likely to notice flare–ups because the unit will only be
operating when he or she is in the garage or shop, in most cases. A removable tank would also not be
necessary since fill–up is easier outdoors.
On the other hand, the indoor/outdoor heater should have three options incorporated on the base
model. The first is the electric start option, as mentioned

Analyzing The Consumers Generating Inter Harmonic Frequencies
Alexander B. Nassif and Jing Yong [7] have proposed a method to identify the consumers
generating inter harmonic frequencies. The inter–harmonics can be measured by means of
Impedance based approach applied at the metering point. The main idea is that, the inter–harmonic
impedance of the system is much smaller than that of an inter–harmonic generating load. This
method can identify the source of each inter–harmonic component without having to rely solely on
the active power measurement and requires only an approximate value for the inter–harmonic
impedance measured at the metering point. As per references [2], [6], [7], [9] any device with
nonlinear characteristics which derive their input power from a sinusoidal electrical system may be
responsible for injecting harmonic currents & voltages into the electrical system [2, 6, 7, 9 ].
Francisco C. De la rossa [2] have described ,all possible nonlinear loads . Among them few are
Power converters such as Variable frequency drives, DC motor controllers, Cycloconverter, Cranes,
Elevators ,Steel mills, Power supplies, UPS,Battery chargers, Inverters & ARC devices such as
Fluorescent lighting, ARC furnaces, Welding machines. According to authors [2] ,[7] Even linear
loads like power transformers can act nonlinear under saturation conditions. This occurs beyond the
so–called saturation knee of the magnetizing curve of the transformer. [2],[7]. According to author

Science Fair Background Research: Is A Lava Lamp A Toy?

Science Fair Background Research
Is a lava lamp a toy? It is a household item? It is science in action. But what is the science of a lava
lamp? This study will determine how a lava lamp creates the look of floating blobs suspended in a
liquid substance. Through at–home trial it will be determined how factors such as density, viscosity
and weight effect a successful lava lamp.
History of the Lava Lamp
The lava lamp was invented in Britain in nineteen sixty three by Edward Craven Walker. The lava in
the original lava lamp was made of a weighted, wax–based liquid, that when heated by the lamp,
cycled up and down in the vertical cylinder of the lamp. The non–lava substance in the

The Price To Become Green

  • 1. The Price to Become Green It has been stated in the past that there is not a significant difference between the price of green and non–green products and materials. Therefore, there is no significant difference between the price of normal homes and zero carbon homes. It is believed that green buildings are considered to be expensive as usually all kind of new modern building methods tend to be more expensive, according to my questionnaire this is also true. I noticed that 60% of the people I interviewed thought that zero carbon homes were to be ridiculously expensive. However, it would be beneficial to have a zero carbon home as the increased initial costs offset the decreased operating costs. This is the reason so many people prefer to have zero carbon homes, as there energy bills will be lower then before. In 2003, The Californian Sustainable Building Task Force carried out a study and according to this study 20% of investment into green building will elaborate 10 times more saving. Meaning there is no significant difference in prices, so a zero carbon building can be just as expensive as a conventional building. It is evident that after this study was carried out the United Kingdom also decided that they would try to become even more sustainable then they already are. In 2013 the Nottingham City Council decided that they would put solar panels on the roofs of homes, this would cost them 7,000 for each home but would generate over 300 million, which would be used to improve the homes around ... • 3. Personal Narrative: Master Bedroom Renting On January 11, 2017, I signed a new lease for 4807 Coachmans Dr. #8 Orlando, FL 32812. I signed it in good faith that you would keep your word and fix the master bedroom toilet, which was never properly fixed, and the kitchen light, both of which has not worked for 170 days as of February 1, 2017. I had asked you to please get these 2 issues taken care of by January 31, 2017; your reply was that you would contact your handyman. You told me when we first met that if I do right by you, you would do right by me. That has not worked out well for me. I have paid my rent on time every month and a couple of months I paid a month in advance. I even paid an extra $100 (rent increase for January 2017), which I legally didn't have to pay, since there was no lease covering this month, and I was, therefore, a tenancy–at–will and not bound by any agreement to pay that extra amount. May I remind you that on February 3, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One was the master bedroom toilet; you reminded me that I have a 2–bathroom unit and should use the second bathroom. You even asked me to turn off the water supply to the toilet. I pay for a 2bed/2bath unit and expect to have full use of both, not to have to turn the water supply off and on every time I use the toilet. I have had company a few times during this 170 day period, the running water disturbed my guests and it was a major inconvenience for all of us to share the second bathroom. Due to health issues it has been extremely difficult for me to keep turning the water supply off and on. Carmella what you have basically said is you have expected me to pay my full amount of rent on time each month, but you have also expected me to live with a running master bedroom toilet or toilet for 170 days. It would have been different if you had gotten the toilet fixed in a timely fashion. Would you live with no master bedroom toilet for 170days? I think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Air Force Materials Report : Jp 8 And Aviation Fuels Air Force Materials Report: JP–8 and Aviation Fuels The United States Air Force exists to provide a service to the rest of the world. It's a global service that extends out from the United States and touches every continent around the world. It has been used to bomb evil off of the face of the Earth, drop care to those in need, and transport the strongest fighting forces in existence around the globe. It is airpower. However, as refueling airmen like to say, "Without us, pilots are pedestrians." (ONE) In other words, if it weren't for the fuels that power the aircraft, the United States Air Force would grind to a disappointing halt. The fuel that powers nearly all United State Air Force aircraft is known as JP–8, or jet propellant–8. Jet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chemistry: Most aviation jet fuels are derived from Kerosene. Kerosene molecules can have varying numbers of carbons. It can have as little as 12 or as many as 15. This means the chemical formula can be anywhere from C_12 H_26 to C_15 H_32. (FOUR). From these basic chemical structures stem those that form JP–8, Jet–A, and other jet fuels. Jet–A is the lowest grade of fuel made from kerosene molecules. Typically available only in the United States to civilian aircraft, Jet–A varies from 8 to 16 carbon atoms per molecule. Jet–A1 fuel is nearly identical to Jet–A, except that it is manufactured to a higher standard as Jet–A, and is therefore available worldwide. Jet–A1 also contains between 8 and 16 carbon atoms per molecule. JP–8, also commonly known as NATO F–34 by other nations, is Jet–A1 with a package of additives specifically designed for military aircraft. These additives allow static dissipation, corrosion reduction, lubrication, anti–icing, and sometimes anti–oxidation and metal deactivation (FIVE). A majority of corrosion inhibition and lubrication in JP–8 is due to dilinoleic acid. Dilinoleic acid is a polar molecule. Its formula is C_36 〖H_64 O〗_4 (SIX). The polar groups found in dilinoleic acid naturally adhere to metal surfaces, such as those found in an aircraft engine. This creates a natural film between moving parts in the engine, thus increasing lubrication ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Meaning Of Art : What Is Art? Regardless of taste, art has been a part of our lives for as long as humanity has existed. For thousands of years, individuals have been creating, scrutinizing, and enjoying art. Many will ask the question: "What is art?" Humanity has faced this question for many centuries. For instance, how are we able to distinguish between fine art and a sculpted piece. I think one of the easiest distinctions to make between these different forms of art is the artist and the artist's overall objective. The connection between the message of the artist and what he/she accomplishes through the medium can classify artwork. Many people assume fine art is made for an elite society. However, individuals are not required to understand the meaning behind art in order to enjoy it. Phenomenal art immediately captures the human eye. Whether the artist is trying to evoke emotion, a particular idea, or something beyond human comprehension. The most important thing is how well the viewing audience receives it. Inventive art pieces spark the discussion on whether those pieces are labeled as art or not. Art is something that inspires people, something that transports us into new realities and moves us into subconscious places we never thought existed. One might ask, "What is art?" I believe that art does not need to represent beautiful objects or events that have taken place in the past. Artist Pied Mondrian, for example, was a Dutch painter and an important leader in the abstract movement of art. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Visible Light Communication Essay 1. INTRODUCTION Visible light communication (VLC) is an upcoming technique which can be used for data communication which uses visible light. Li–fi is a subset of OWC–Optical wireless communication and it can be used as a complement to RF communication (Wi–Fi or cellular network). As Lamps are the common source of room lighting, they are providing a new pathway for linking mobiles to the Internet, with the potential for wider bandwidth and it has a quicker response time than Wi–fi. As there are differnet sources, the speed of the transmission also varies. Ordinary lamps can transmit the signal with the speed of 10kbit/s whereas LEDs are used to get transmission speeds upto 500Mbit/s and with the help of powerful LEDs we can achieve the speed of 10 Gbit/s. At the receiving side, Devices containing photodiode receive signals from light sources. In few cases, digital camera may also be sufficient. The sensors used for receiving signals are infact an array of photodiodes(pixels), where each one can be used as separate channel to provide multi– channel propagation. PLC– Power Line Communication is also like VLC, developed in the same era and is the method of transmitting data on transmission lines meant for electric power distribution to comsumers. The basic principle involved in PLC is that these can be operated by adding a carrier signal to the existing wiring system. The propagation problem is a limiting fator for PLC's. Low Frequencies are generally to carry data over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Essay On Solar Energy Why are full spectrum LED lights better than HPS lights? One of the most difficult and befuddling tasks of an indoor grower is to select the best light source for the proper growth of plants. After all, it really is an important task to find a replacement for the natural sunlight. In all other choices over items for indoor growing, people are usually able to narrow down to a particular item but in the context of the light source, users find themselves bamboozled. The market is replete with light sources and they only contribute to making the indoor growers more and more perplexed. However, when acquainted with certain facts, any indoor grower can make an informed decision about the light source that would be most suitable for your plant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But as they had no option their loyalty rested with the HPS light sources. But once LED light source was able to establish itself in the market, the loyalty of the customers gradually shifted to the product which offered the best services viz. LED light sources. Now, let's delve into the details of pros and cons of each of these light sources. HPS light source provides the indoor plants with heat and light required for their growth. But the only bad point in this regard is that it provides heat and light in excess. The additional heat and light are harmful to the plant. An excess of heat may cause the leaves to burn and thus destroy the plants. Hence, in order to vent out the excess and protect the plant from the damage, a ventilation system needs to be incorporated along with HPS light sources. This makes the HPS light sources very bulky. Moreover, as the HPS light sources provide excess heat and light, they also consume more power. Thus it aggrandizes the cost incurred by the indoor grower while availing the facilities offered by the HPS light sources. Also, it makes them less energy efficient. LED light sources with their plethora of services have won the heart of a crescendo of customers. Firstly, LED light sources are cheaper than HPS light sources which makes it economically feasible for the consumers. Secondly, LED light sources exude just enough quantity of heat and light as may be required by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout this play, Williams uses a significant amount of references to light in order to make an assertion about reality. In A Streetcar Named Desire, light represents the harsh reality that exists in the world, particularly with Blanche. With the huge emphasis that was placed on light, Williams asserts that Blanche's avoidance of light demonstrates an avoidance of her reality. The author illuminates the harsh realities that exist in the world by using vivid imagery, purposeful foreshadowing, and characterizing metaphors. In this instance, it was Blanche's desire to stay out of the light in order to hide her age. This desire is quite evident because of her assertive tone when regarding the subject of light. While trying to avoid light, Blanche initiated her own demise by being forced to divulge her true age and appearance to Mitch. Because of this event, Blanche was forced to face the harsh reality that she wished to evade for so long. Williams uses brilliant literary and figurative elements in order to lead up to the inevitable event. Thus, the significance of light in A Streetcar Named Desire is astronomical when placing it in context. Upon evaluating this play, it is immediately clear that Blanche has an extreme distaste for light. In the opening parts of the play, the stage directions say, "Her delicate beauty must avoid a ... Nowadays, there are always flying insects that are wandering around in a certain place and people seem to be having a very hard time catching them and killing them at the same time. These flies are a nuisance to every person because nobody would want to have flies in the house. People would find these flying insects flying around mostly in their homes, however, they cannot seem to find the source of this problem. This has occurred every year and yet, people could not find the source of these problems. Some factors that could be affecting this problem is the change in weather of every month or season, things that are dirty that may attract flies, etc. The magnitude of this problem may increase if a solution is not implemented to solve this problem as soon as possible. Application/Solution There are different kinds of applications or solutions to this issue, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one is that obviously, electric fly killers eliminate lots of flying insects right away, and it greatly reduces the insect population around the area. There might be piles and piles of insects within a few days, and while eventually there will be lesser insects, there is no denying that electric fly killers play a huge impact on solving this issue. The second benefit is that similarly, electric fly killers allow people to eliminate flying insects with few chemicals and not much personal involvement. There is no health risk when it does not come to handling the electric fly killers, nor there any risk of disturbing or a nest or facing an insect that people fear. Electric fly killers are out of the way and it has limited personal involvement, so people would not need to involve in anything when it comes to using electric fly killers. Internal Investigation: Exploration Juan Garcia 11/17/15 Period 2 Problem/Question What is the effect of varying pH solutions on the rate of photosynthesis on the Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) via The Floating Leaf Disc Assay? Background The Indian Lotus is an aquatic plant that is quite popular among cultures as being sacred. It is often used to portray beauty as it grows from the mud unstained and pure. It is also used today in many Asian foods. As such the growth of the Indian Lotus is one that is very important to many cultures and societies. Knowledge of the optimum pH in which the Indian Lotus grows can be significant due to how the pH of the environment the Indian Lotus grows in can vary based upon pollution and other factors. Therefore in the event of high pollution, or any situation that changes the pH of the environment botanists may be able to predict or decipher the effect of that change on the growth of the plants in the area, specifically the Indian Lotus. The experiment can also conclude the extent that pH affects Indian Lotus growth. It may conclude that varying pH has a slight effect on Indian Lotus growth or even the ability to stop it from undergoing photosynthesis completely and kill the organism. The experiment is important in general to find how pH can affect Indian Lotus growth which can in turn affect other aspects such as the diet of locals or lead to even a decrease in Indian Lotus which is culturally significant to cultures and religions. ... Choosing inferior bulbs for the sake of saving a couple of dollars is a mistake you will quickly come to regret. If your car is designed for H1 bulbs, you should fit it with the best H1 bulbs you can find. What Is A H1 Bulb? – The H1 headlight bulb can trace it's roots back to Europe, where it was first introduced in 1962. The first halogen lamp designed for use in cars and other automotive vehicles, the original H1 bulb proved to be a controversial invention. So controversial, in fact, that it was banned in the United States of America and would not be permitted for use in the country until 1997. Nowadays, H1 bulbs are not only a–okay in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that if you are replacing your headlights, you must purchase a total of four bulbs, a high and low model for either side. Headlight bulbs only equipped to release one beam are called "single filament bulbs". Twin filament bulbs are designed to emit both low and high beams from a single source, so if your car requires twin filament bulbs, you'll only have to spend money on one bulb for each side. While this may seem more economical, the general consensus is that twin filament bulbs are nowhere near as powerful as their single filament counterparts. Single filament bulbs are far more common than twin filament models, with the latter being very rarely seen outside of H4 bulbs. H1 bulbs, if you haven't guessed it already, are single filament bulbs. That might come as a bit of a disappointment if you were hoping to keep costs to a minimum when replacing your headlights, but it can actually work out more economical in the long run. Because single filament bulbs offer a brighter and further reaching light, the risk of an accident is significantly lower than if you were lighting your way using twin filament bulbs. But what does 20/20 mean? To understand that you must look at a Snellen Chart. That's the name of the collection of letters displayed in ever decreasing sizes on the wall chart used by Ophthalmologists and doctors' to check your vision. The chart is named after its inventor in 1862, Dr Hermann Snellen, a Dutch Ophthalmologist.Snellen The fractions shown at the side of the letters, 20/20, 20/30 etc., are measures of sharpness of sight or visual acuity. August Colenbrander, M.D. (Smith–Kettlewell Eye research Institute and California Pacific Medical Center) offers a good explanation of acuity measurement. He says: "If a subject needs letters (or symbols) that are twice as large or twice as close as those that can just be seen by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Snellen fraction 20/20, the first number represents the test distance, 20 feet. The second number represents the distance that the average eye can see the letters on a certain line of the eye chart. So, 20/20 means that the eye being tested can read a certain size letter when it is 20 feet away. If a person sees 20/40, at 20 feet from the chart that person can read letters that a person with 20/20 vision could read from 40 feet away. The 20/40 letters are twice the size of 20/20 letters; however, it does not mean 50% vision since 20/20 sounds like it is one half of 20/40. If 20/20 is considered 100% visual effiency, 20/40 visual acuity is 85% efficient. If a patient sees 20/200, the smallest letter that they can see at 20 feet could be seen by a normal eye at 200 feet. This is the Snellen Acuity (English). In Metric Acuity, 20/20 equals 6/6. The conversion is that 20 feet equals approximately 6 meters (actually 6.096). The "Tumbling E" Eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is the most famous of all Americans to make a career of inventing; Edison was called the "Wizard of Menlo Park," which was his laboratory for sometime, found in New Jersey. He was especially important for his electrical inventions. Like many inventors of his era, Edison struggled to perfect a system of electrical home lighting. He experimented with arc lighting in 1875, but became convinced that successful home lighting would have to be incandescent; that is, use a material that would glow when an electric current passed through it, but not burn in the process. (The History of the Light Bulb & Thomas A. Edison Papers) He studied earlier experiments and in 1878 announced that he had the technical problems solved and would create a practical incandescent lamp within six months. The invention of the light bulb changed the world in many ways, including facilitating the creation of large power grids, changing the social and economic structure of society and bringing other appliances into our homes. (Thomas A. Edison Papers) Although many inventors had experimented with incandescent light bulbs, Thomas Edison created the first widely distributed model in 1879. (The History of the Light Bulb) Light is a form of energy. When something burns it often gives off light energy as well as heat energy. The sun, for example, is a ball of burning gases which give off lots of light. The earliest form of light that humans used was the light created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Light Bulb: A Luminous Invention Light bulbs are an invention that transformed the modern world to what we know it to be today. It was first created by Thomas Edison after countless hours of trial and error. He finally found a combination that worked and lasted for twelve hundred hours. It relied on a bamboo filament and was more efficient after Edison was able to remove more oxygen from the bulb. There are now four main types of light bulbs: incandescent, halogens, fluorescent, and LEDs. Although performing one basic task they all have advantages and disadvantages. Incandescent light bulbs are the oldest and most common type of light bulb. Incandescent bulbs have filament made of Tungsten. Tungsten was chosen to be the filament because it can be made very thin, put under high resistance and has a high melting point. This allows electrons to return to lower energy states and it releases photons that are visible to the human eye. Inside of the light bulb, manufactures have to fill bulb with a combination of nitrogen and argon because they are less reactive than oxygen we breathe (Uva, 2011, p. 1). The light bulb actually works due to electrical current being passed through the filament. The electrons of the filament become excited which causes the filament to get hot and glow creating the light. When the tungsten is heated it sublimates which caused incandescent light bulbs to get darker over time. After being used for a certain amount of time, the tungsten wire becomes thin and breaks. This causes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

November 30, 2010 There is a fine line between how much safety a corporation should provide to the consumer regarding its products vs. how much responsibility of safety should fall on the average consumer. Take, for instance, the all too familiar McDonald's coffee episode. Does McDonald's have a responsibility to its customers to ensure the coffee isn't hot enough to scald if spilled upon one's lap? Or should the customer be held responsible for their own safety in regards to common sense judgment? This is what California Space Heaters, Inc. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A corporation that has been given such estimates from its engineering department has a responsibility to implement a safety device. Electric start is the single most important option that should be incorporated on all models for safety reasons. The profile of users in a shop or garage setting differs greatly from users in a home. Users in a shop or garage are more likely to be mechanically inclined. Additionally, safety features are arguably more important in a home than in a shop or garage. In a home, the heater is typically closer to combustibles, including furniture, curtains, and carpet. Due to these variables, CSH should market an indoor/outdoor heater and an outdoor only heater. The only necessary option on the outdoor heater is the electric start, as previously discussed. A shop or garage user will likely be more mechanically inclined and able to adjust the wick accurately. A thermostat shouldn't be needed because the unit will less likely be near combustibles. Overheating due to flare–ups will not be as big of an issue either because of the surroundings, not to mention the user is more likely to notice flare–ups because the unit will only be operating when he or she is in the garage or shop, in most cases. A removable tank would also not be necessary since fill–up is easier outdoors. On the other hand, the indoor/outdoor heater should have three options incorporated on the base model. The first is the electric start option, as mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Analyzing The Consumers Generating Inter Harmonic Frequencies Alexander B. Nassif and Jing Yong [7] have proposed a method to identify the consumers generating inter harmonic frequencies. The inter–harmonics can be measured by means of Impedance based approach applied at the metering point. The main idea is that, the inter–harmonic impedance of the system is much smaller than that of an inter–harmonic generating load. This method can identify the source of each inter–harmonic component without having to rely solely on the active power measurement and requires only an approximate value for the inter–harmonic impedance measured at the metering point. As per references [2], [6], [7], [9] any device with nonlinear characteristics which derive their input power from a sinusoidal electrical system may be responsible for injecting harmonic currents & voltages into the electrical system [2, 6, 7, 9 ]. Francisco C. De la rossa [2] have described ,all possible nonlinear loads . Among them few are Power converters such as Variable frequency drives, DC motor controllers, Cycloconverter, Cranes, Elevators ,Steel mills, Power supplies, UPS,Battery chargers, Inverters & ARC devices such as Fluorescent lighting, ARC furnaces, Welding machines. According to authors [2] ,[7] Even linear loads like power transformers can act nonlinear under saturation conditions.
