STATEMENT OF NEED
A majority of poor households in Latin America and the
Caribbean are living from hand to mouth. These people are also
facing unemployment which is lowering their living conditions.
Food For the Poor Incorporation is trying its best to feed the
poor and offer services that will assist them, but they need an
extra effort to impact these people. The program will ensure
that poor people will possess the knowledge and skills required
to perform certain tasks. Additionally, the poor members will be
sponsored, educated on ways to improve their skills and will
thereby work with the organization to make affordable goods at
lower prices. These people will generate income that will boost
their living conditions. The citizens in the region will be self-
employed and employ others. In the long run, the institution
will be independent financially and will aid other programs for
the organization.

EVALUATING THE EVALUATION CONCEPT
Organizations need to adapt and assess their activities to ensure
that they are effective and will achieve the set objective. This
helps in identifying potential areas the organizations can
improve. Evaluation is the process of examining a program. It
involves accumulating and scrutinizing information about the
activities, features and what to expect from the program
(Gilbert 2020). Food For the Poor Incorporation will use
external evaluation as explained below.
Internal evaluation is a method of reviewing quality within an
institution for its assessment (Tatebe et.al 2019). This means
that the organization evaluates its operations without the
involvement of external peers. Evaluators are familiar with the
work and know the objectives of the organization. Additionally,
an internal evaluation will be less costly as compared to
external evaluation. The evaluation will also be more effective
as persons will be more willing to converse with inside
evaluators as compared to external evaluators. Internal
evaluation however may consume a lot of time as the
opportunity cost may be high. Moreover, an internal evaluation
may require skilled personnel in the field of evaluation (Tatebe
et.al 2019).
External evaluation is carried out by persons who are not
directly involved in the operation of activities being evaluated
(World Health Organization 2019). This evaluation is
speculated to be more objective as compared to the internal
evaluation since evaluators will have some distance from the
work. Additionally, the evaluators will be hired thereby
ensuring correct evaluations as per their skills and expertise.
Additionally, using an external evaluator ensures that the
evaluations are more credible. External evaluators however may
not understand the culture and the objectives of the
organization. Additionally, the persons being evaluated may
feel threatened by outsiders which may result in poor
cooperation in the process (World Health Organization 2019).
Based on the information provided above, the most appropriate
form of evaluation is the external evaluation as it will ensure
the objectivity of the project in constructing a training
institution.

Dear Mary Smith, Ph.D.:
I am a student at Ashford University, undertaking a course in
(please state university course). I am submitting the following
as an initial letter of inquiry for Food For The Poor (FFP)
Incorporation as a full proposal for the project.
This project will involve setting up a training institute that will
skill low-income earners and poor persons in Latin and its
environs. This will help curb unemployment rates in the region
and improve the living standards of people in the Caribbean.
The program will ensure that poor persons will possess the
knowledge and skills required to perform certain tasks.
Additionally, the poor members will be sponsored, educated on
ways to improve their skills and will thereby work with the
organization to make affordable goods at low prices. The
persons will generate income that will boost their living
conditions as they will be self-employed and employ others.
The organization depends on donations from friends and the
church. The funds can be directed to develop the institute which
will earn income through fees and sale of inventory such as
clothing. In the long run, the incorporation will be financially
independent and will aid other programs for the organization.
With your permission, I would like to request the approval of
the project and look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Mary M.Ware

HSO ASSIGNMENT
Food For The Poor, INC (FFP) is a global relief and
development organization that feeds millions of hungry people
in 17 countries of Latin and Caribbean America. It provides
emergency relief support, medicines, freshwater, educational
resources, care for the elderly, skills training and micro-
enterprise development support. It follows the principle that
‘education and self-help must fortify immediate relief so
recipients can learn to break the cycle of poverty.’ It supports
programs to teach beneficiaries how to develop small
businesses, advance livestock and provide agricultural support
to independent farmers.
Poverty levels of the Caribbean countries are on the rise and
this greatly affects the living standards of these people and their
families (Chapin et.al 2017). FFP is trying to solve this problem
gradually and can so help one child, one family or one
community at a time. For the organization to assist as many
people as possible, it has to increase its funding. Donations
from well-wishers and friends only assist in a small proportion.
FFP can introduce an income-generating drive that is aimed at
making surplus which will help the organization get another
source of income other than donations. This will involve setting
up small businesses around the countries where unemployed
persons can work and sell their products at affordable prices in
the market.
A great number of persons living in Florida live from hand to
mouth while others have no place to work (Powell 2019). FFP is
going to provide employment opportunities for these persons.
They will train these persons on how to make clothes from
readily available materials and skilled persons can be aided with
drawing tools and make pictures and designed objects that they
can sell in the market at affordable prices. The main purpose is
to create something out of what others consider as nothing.
Computer-educated persons can be aided with creating computer
programs that can be sold to companies. Income generated from
sales will have a part in adding more funds to the institution.
By creating an opportunity for persons to utilize their skills,
unemployed persons will have an income. Additionally, FFP
will have more room to educate the youths in alternative
sources of income generation. Income generated will increase a
share of funds the institution uses to help the poor and
disadvantaged. Moreover, they can attach their students in the
departments of skills development to improve their expertise in
many ways. This allows people to be flexible in the economy.
Jobs will be created in various countries where people will
employ others and themselves at large.
FFP will set up a training institute in Florida where they can
offer their services at an affordable price to those who are
willing and able to join. For persons who will have difficulties
in funding their education, FFP will sponsor them as they will
produce and sell their merchandise through the institution. The
institution will train persons on various ways of cleaning water,
art and craft designs, business and entrepreneurship skills,
agriculture and development aid. The institution will also work
with corporations where the students will be attached and gain
experience. All this is to help the institution fund their
strategies as they help the community.
The living standards of the people in the area will be improved
if this program works effectively. FFP will admit more persons
as they want to know various ways of earning. The training
institution will be independent and will have more funds for
expanding and training more people in Florida and other states.
The institute will fund FFP as it aims to feed poor people in
other countries.

  • 10. 3 EVALUATING THE EVALUATION CONCEPT Student’s name Academic Affiliation: Date: EVALUATING THE EVALUATION CONCEPT Organizations need to adapt and assess their activities to ensure that they are effective and will achieve the set objective. This helps in identifying potential areas the organizations can improve. Evaluation is the process of examining a program. It involves accumulating and scrutinizing information about the activities, features and what to expect from the program (Gilbert 2020). Food For the Poor Incorporation will use external evaluation as explained below. Internal evaluation is a method of reviewing quality within an institution for its assessment (Tatebe et.al 2019). This means that the organization evaluates its operations without the involvement of external peers. Evaluators are familiar with the work and know the objectives of the organization. Additionally, an internal evaluation will be less costly as compared to external evaluation. The evaluation will also be more effective as persons will be more willing to converse with inside evaluators as compared to external evaluators. Internal evaluation however may consume a lot of time as the opportunity cost may be high. Moreover, an internal evaluation may require skilled personnel in the field of evaluation (Tatebe et.al 2019). External evaluation is carried out by persons who are not directly involved in the operation of activities being evaluated (World Health Organization 2019). This evaluation is speculated to be more objective as compared to the internal evaluation since evaluators will have some distance from the
  • 11. work. Additionally, the evaluators will be hired thereby ensuring correct evaluations as per their skills and expertise. Additionally, using an external evaluator ensures that the evaluations are more credible. External evaluators however may not understand the culture and the objectives of the organization. Additionally, the persons being evaluated may feel threatened by outsiders which may result in poor cooperation in the process (World Health Organization 2019). Based on the information provided above, the most appropriate form of evaluation is the external evaluation as it will ensure the objectivity of the project in constructing a training institution. Running Head: HSO ASSIGNMENT 1 HSO ASSIGNMENT 3 HSO ASSIGNMENT Students Name: Academic Affiliation: Date:
  • 17. HSO ASSIGNMENT Food For The Poor, INC (FFP) is a global relief and development organization that feeds millions of hungry people in 17 countries of Latin and Caribbean America. It provides emergency relief support, medicines, freshwater, educational resources, care for the elderly, skills training and micro- enterprise development support. It follows the principle that ‘education and self-help must fortify immediate relief so recipients can learn to break the cycle of poverty.’ It supports programs to teach beneficiaries how to develop small businesses, advance livestock and provide agricultural support to independent farmers. Poverty levels of the Caribbean countries are on the rise and this greatly affects the living standards of these people and their families (Chapin et.al 2017). FFP is trying to solve this problem gradually and can so help one child, one family or one community at a time. For the organization to assist as many people as possible, it has to increase its funding. Donations from well-wishers and friends only assist in a small proportion. FFP can introduce an income-generating drive that is aimed at making surplus which will help the organization get another source of income other than donations. This will involve setting up small businesses around the countries where unemployed persons can work and sell their products at affordable prices in the market. A great number of persons living in Florida live from hand to mouth while others have no place to work (Powell 2019). FFP is going to provide employment opportunities for these persons. They will train these persons on how to make clothes from readily available materials and skilled persons can be aided with drawing tools and make pictures and designed objects that they can sell in the market at affordable prices. The main purpose is to create something out of what others consider as nothing. Computer-educated persons can be aided with creating computer programs that can be sold to companies. Income generated from
  • 18. sales will have a part in adding more funds to the institution. By creating an opportunity for persons to utilize their skills, unemployed persons will have an income. Additionally, FFP will have more room to educate the youths in alternative sources of income generation. Income generated will increase a share of funds the institution uses to help the poor and disadvantaged. Moreover, they can attach their students in the departments of skills development to improve their expertise in many ways. This allows people to be flexible in the economy. Jobs will be created in various countries where people will employ others and themselves at large. FFP will set up a training institute in Florida where they can offer their services at an affordable price to those who are willing and able to join. For persons who will have difficulties in funding their education, FFP will sponsor them as they will produce and sell their merchandise through the institution. The institution will train persons on various ways of cleaning water, art and craft designs, business and entrepreneurship skills, agriculture and development aid. The institution will also work with corporations where the students will be attached and gain experience. All this is to help the institution fund their strategies as they help the community. The living standards of the people in the area will be improved if this program works effectively. FFP will admit more persons as they want to know various ways of earning. The training institution will be independent and will have more funds for expanding and training more people in Florida and other states. The institute will fund FFP as it aims to feed poor people in other countries. References HSO assignment Retrieved from <https://www.foodforthepoor.org/>
