2. Counselling And Advising
Counselling- is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to
one (client) and helping them to find ways to deal with emotional issues.
Advising is a piece of suggestion provided by anyone.

5. Individual counseling –a process which is usually one on
one basic between a willing client and a professional
counsellor aimed at helping a client to deal with his or
her problems.
6. Advantages of individual counselling
.It improves self awareness
.It enables better communication
. It ensures confidentially
. Promotes a good therapeutic relationship between the client and a counselor
Disadvantages of individual counselling
. There is no peer interaction
.It is more expensive than other types of counselling
.Clients lack support from fellow mates
. Some clients find it difficult to focus on themselves and express their emotions
7. Peer counselling – is an interactive
relationship between age groups to influence
positive change. It is facilitated by a peer who
has received training in basic skills.
8. Advantages of peer counseling
Gives the ability to talk to others and avoid being the center of attention.
It is free of charge.
It helps to reduce certain problems.
Provides knowledge, experience, emotional or practical to help each other.
Disadvantages of peer counseling
• There is less of personal focus as well as privacy.
•Not a professional service.
•Less confidentiality.
9. Group counselling – usually comprises of six to eight
members who meet face to face with a group of
counsellors and talk about what most concerns them.
10. Advantages of group counselling
It helps to develop healthy coping skills.
It is cheaper than individual counselling.
It provides a safety net
Disadvantages of group counselling
•It may enhance rejection.
•There may be personality conflicts.
•Less confidentiality
