Counselling involves individuals, couples, or families meeting with a trained professional to discuss issues and problems. There are three main types: individual counselling involves one-on-one sessions; group counselling has 6-8 members who meet with 1-2 counselors; and peer counselling involves people in similar situations supporting each other. Individual counselling ensures confidentiality and a comfortable environment, while group counselling strengthens relationships and skills. Peer counselling provides knowledge and experiences from others. Advantages are countered by disadvantages like lack of privacy, focus, and confidentiality for group settings as well as lack of structure and roles for peer counselling. Counselling overall helps address challenges and heals individuals.
