The Shack is about a man, Mack Phillips, who comes face to face with the unknown. He suffers a
tragedy, nothing he thought would ever happen to him. His past relationship as a child was abusive,
not the usual loving and caring and dreamy family style. He grows out of his past relationship and
marries into a loving and Christian family. He and his two daughters and son go on a camping trip
where they will have to face the "big ugly past." At this camping trip, Mack's five–year–old
daughter is kidnapped and killed by an unknown man. After this event, Mack's relationship with

After high school, countless students are daunted to take the big leap to go to college. Upon
entrance, they are faced with another vast decision: "What is your major going to be?" It is at this
moment that all of the prospecting pathways come into play. The student has a narrowed list in
mind, and they are confronted with a choice of money or passion. Often times your genuine interests
will not bring in as much cash as you'd originally hoped, so you settle for a route to bring in the

It isn't easy pretending to love what you're studying. You may be able to work diligently and study
as much as you need, but if you're not attentive in what you are studying, it will reflect in your work.
There are entirely too many people who enter a career field simply for the pay. They don't really
care about what they are doing; it is all about the paycheck. It is difficult for people to have to make
the decision between money and their passions. Culture tells you that you have to have money to be
happy, so that is what we strive for the most. It is tremendously distressing to feel as though you
cannot be content with your life unless you have an underlying wealth. At the age most students are,
their brains are so malleable to societal standards that they tend to crack under the pressure. It is

In the United States over two million people die a year (Death). With death comes the questions
countless people wonder about. What is Death? Why did they die? Why couldn't it have been
someone else? When a loved one is lost, these questions could be circling through their heads. Death
is when someone's time on Earth has come to a close, there are numerous causes of death and people
often wonder why it has to happen. Death is a part of life that everybody has to deal with. There is
no way around it and no way to escape it. The best thing to do is to live your life to the fullest so

Death Be Not Proud By John Donne
In the poem "Death be not proud," by John Donne the poet personifies death as a person not worthy
of the respect and feat that he receives. From the words used in the poem, the reader gets the idea
that it was written a long time ago, that being said it does not take away from the meaning nor is it
hard to understand what they mean since the poet uses them in the literal meaning. The poem
constructed in a way that is looks and sounds as the though the speaker is talking to Death in person.
It sounds as though the speaker pities death, and the role that he plays in life. The speaker almost

The speaker comes off a masochist thinking that the only way he could feel the love of God it
through pain. So that speaker can be in the image he believes God wants him, the speaker wants
God to, "break, blow, burn, and make me new." The speaker uses a metaphor to compare his heart to
that of a town under the rule of another:

The speaker believes that in his heart lies another even though he only wants God to be there. The
reason he gives is that God's hold on him is to weak and hard to maintain It is almost as if the
speaker is saying if fear of God is not instilled in him, he will forever waver in his faith, which ties
back into the initial thought of wanting to be built new. His heart is forever tied to sin:

Divorce me, untie, or break that knot again
The speaker loves God a lot but says that he is married to God's enemy, which can mean sin or
anything thought of to be against God's wishes. The only way to be with Him is for God the break

Minhee pouted as she childishly defended herself. Luhan rubbed his temples in annoyance. Weeks
had past and Minhee was less annoying... or so he thought. She was arguing on how you stepped on
her shoe and it gave her the right to push you. You were at the library with Hyorin and you were tip–
toeing while taking a book. It was too high and you stumbled back. You accidentally stepped at the
foot of the person behind you. Unluckily, it was Minhee. She glared at you and pushed you out of

The authors Jacob and Wilhem Grimm let the readers imagine real–life situations that people believe
they face every day. The metaphor that they use is God, Satan and Death; these are all things that we
are faced with in our daily lives. The story "Godfather Death" is told in 3rd person omniscient.
Whereas, this story comes down to choices, these choices determine their fate. The father has 12
children that he can hardly feed and provide for, so the man is out in the street searching for the right
person to be his 13th child godfather. The man was approached by GOD, "I do not wish to have you
for a godfather," said the man. "You give to the rich, and let the poor starve." The man was
approached by Satan, "Then I do not wish to have you for a godfather," said the man. You deceive
mankind and lead them astray." Then Death comes along, "I am Death, who makes everyone equal."
"You are the right one. You take away the rich as well as the poor, without distinction. "I will make
your child rich and famous, for he who has me for a friend cannot fail" (13). In general, people
greed, selfishness and desire for power always cause them to lose everything. "What good does
