Uses of Stablon 12.5mg tablets:
Stablon (Tianeptine Sodium Tablets) is an antidepressant and is
used in the treatment of mild, moderate or severe depression.
It is also used for pain, asthma, anxiety, and other conditions, but
there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
Tianeptine is chemical that affects brain chemicals. It seems to
affect mood when used in low doses. In higher doses, it works like
an opioid and can cause addiction and other serious side effects. It
can also cause withdrawal symptoms.

Recommended Adult Dosage
For adult patients, the recommended dose of
Stablon (Tianeptine Sodium Tablets) is one tablet (12.5 mg)
three times daily (one in the morning, one at midday and one
in the evening), taken before or during main meals.
The dose should be reduced to two tablets dailyfor patients over
70 years of age. Tianeptine is not recommended for use in
children or adolescents under 18 years of age, as its safety and
efficacy have not been evaluated.

Recommended Adult Dosage
Administration In The Event Of Kidney And Liver Damage:
The dose should be reduced to two tablets per day for
patients who suffer from renal insufficiency. No reason is
present to adjust the dose for alcoholic patients,
irrespective of whether liver cirrhosis has developed.
If treatment with Tianeptine is to be terminated or
interrupted, the dose should be gradually reduced over a
period of 7 to 14 days.

Contraindications
➔
Stablon Tablets are contraindicated in patients with a known
hypersensitivity to Tianeptine Sodium or any component of the
tablet.
➔
There should be an interval of two weeks between the end of
treatment with a MAO inhibitor and the beginning of treatment
with Tianeptine Sodium (Stablon Tablets) , and at least 24 hours
is required when replacing tianeptine with a MAOI.
➔
Stablon is contraindicated in children and adolescents under 15
years old.

Storage Instructions
Stablon (Tianeptine Sodium Tablets) have to be
stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20°C
to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with excursions permitted
between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines away from
children and pets.

Warnings
Depression is associated with an increased risk of suicidal thoughts,
self-harming and suicidality (suicidal behaviour). This risk persists
until a significant remission has been obtained.
Patients with a history of suicidal behaviour or those expressing
significant suicidal thoughts before starting the treatment face a
higher risk of the onset of suicidal thoughts or suicidal behaviour,
and must be closely monitored during treatment.
If general anaesthesia is necessary, the anaesthetist should be
informed of the treatment, and the drug discontinued 24 or 48 hours
prior to surgery.

Warnings
In an emergency, surgery may be performed without an intervening
wash-out period; peroperative monitoring should be performed.
As with any psychotropic drug, this medicinal product should not be
taken with alcoholic beverages or medicines containing alcohol.
As with all psychotropic agents, if the treatment is to be
interrupted, the dosage should be gradually reduced over a period
of 7 to 14 days.
If there is a history of drug dependence or alcohol dependence, the
patients must be kept under very close surveillance in order to avoid
any increase in dosage. Do not exceed the recommended doses.

Warnings
This medicinal product contains sucrose. Its use is contraindicated in
patients with fructose intolerance, glucose and galatose malabsorption
syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (rare inherited diseases).
Stablon is contraindicated in children and adolescents under 15 years old
and should not be used in adolescents aged 15 to 18 years old.
Suicidal type (suicide attempts and suicidal thoughts) and hostile
type (mainly aggressiveness, opposition behaviour and anger)
behaviour has been observed more frequently during clinical studies in
children and adolescents treated with antidepressants compared to
those treated with placebo.

Driving And Using Machines
Some patients may experience reduced alertness during
treatment with Tianeptine Sodium (Stablon Tablets).
Before you drive a vehicle, use tools or operate machines, or
carry out other activities that require concentration, make sure
you know how Tianeptine affects you.

Metabolism And Nutrition Disorders:
Common: Anorexia.
Not known: Hyponatremia
Psychiatric Disorders:
Common: Nightmare.
Uncommon: Drug abuse and dependency, in particular in subjects less
than 50 years old with a history of alcohol or drug dependency.
Not known: Cases of suicidal thought or behaviour have been
reported during treatment with Tianeptine therapy, or shortly after
discontinuation, Confusional state, hallucination

Stablon Tablets Overdosage
Clinical experience with overdoses of Tianeptine(the maximum
dose was 2250 mg in a single dose) have shown signs and
symptoms that included: confusional state, seizures,
drowsiness, dry mouth and shortness of breath, mainly when
Tianeptine Sodium (Stablon Tablets) was combined with alcohol.
In all cases stop treatment and monitor the patient closely.
Gastric lavage, Cardiac,respiratory, metabolic and renal
monitoring should be done. Symptomatic treatment of any
clinical manifestations, especially assisted ventilation and
correction of metabolic and renal disorders

Stablon Tablets During Pregnancy
Tianeptine Sodium (Stablon Tablets) has been classified as
Pregnancy Category C.
Animal data is reassuring but clinical data is still insufficient.
In consideration of this data, it is preferable not to use
Tianeptine during pregnancy whatever the term. If initiation or
continuation of treatment by Tianeptine proves to be vital
during pregnancy, the pharmacological profile of the
molecule should be taken into account when monitoring
the newborn baby.
