ASSEMBLAGE AND
DRAWING
2. WHAT IS AN ASSEMBLAGE?
• It is a ‘temporary’
art work resulting
from assembled
objects and found
materials usually
mounted in an
open space for
public viewing.
3. WHY ASSEMBLAGE?
• The 21st century learners are manipulative
aside from being visual learners. They
learn better when they manipulate objects
to discover new things. Manipulating
objects offer thrill and excitement to our
learners which is essential in habit
formation – the habit of learning to live
together in harmony (Father Delor’s
Four Pillars of Learning).
4. WHY ASSEMBLAGE?
• Learning is effective when the learner is
able to manipulate objects and assemble
them to make new things out of available
materials – it enhances their creativity and
develops higher order thinking skills
(HOTS). It will also lead to deeper
understanding of LIFE (sense of SELF
VALUING & RESPECT for OTHERS)
and wider perspective of humanity
(WORLDVIEW).
5. WHY ASSEMBLAGE?
• Assemblage is more on CREATING – the
process of MAKING new things from what is
existing. It promotes ART CREATION as one
of the ART COMPONENTS in GRADE 7
ART CURRICULUM. It is a form of ARTISTIC
EXPRESSION using what is available and
cheap.
• With ‘assemblage’, we give our learners the
FREEDOM to EXPLORE and DISCOVER
their own POTENTIALS, SKILLS, TALENTS,
and INGENUITY.
6. HOW TO MAKE AN ASSEMBLAGE?
Follow these:
• LOOK around you and SEE ‘new’ things
from them.
• THINK OUT OF THE BOX. Innovate and
recreate things the way you want them to
look and fit your senses. Remember that
SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE are those who
DEVIATED from the STANDARDS to
CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES.
7. HOW TO MAKE AN ASSEMBLAGE?
Follow these:
• MOUNT your assemblage in an open space
or in an area that suits to your artwork.
• DOCUMENT your work. Take photos, make
a sketch, draw or paint it.
• USE your work to INSPIRE OTHERS.
• DISPLAY right ATTITUDE in the proper use
and effective utilization of available
resources; SHOW manifestations of a
RESPONSIBLE PERSON; and PORTRAY
the characteristics of a LEARNED and
