Media Portrayal of Islam Essay
Islam: suppressor of women, enemy of Western nations, and breeder of terrorists. The West has
many stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam that are due to the media, prejudice, and
ignorance. Islam is often seen as an "extremist" or "terrorist" religion. Often, the media's reports
about Islam are incorrect due to ignorance or not wanting to acknowledge its true teachings. This is
one of the reasons why Westerners are often wary of Muslims. In contrast to what the media
portrays, Islam is a peaceful religion, which does not promote violence or terrorism.
Islamic stereotypes are not new to Western culture. Problems can be traced back to the time of the
Crusades, when Christians and Muslims were vying for control of Jerusalem. At ... Show more

Although some fringe movements of other religions are quite radical and violent, extremists in the
Muslim world receive a disproportionate amount of media coverage.
Associating Islam with violence is a false impression that the Western public has long cultivated
about this religion. An example of this misconception is that Islam is a religion spread by the sword,
meaning that Muslims went from one end of the world to the other, conquering nations and forcing
the inhabitants to either convert or die. The truth is that Islam spread through the expansion of the
Ottoman empire, not that people were forced to convert or die. A modern day example of the
Islam=violence misconception is Saddam Hussein. Although Hussein is of the Islamic faith, not all
of his actions necessarily represent Islamic beliefs.
As seen from a Western perspective, Islam is a religion that refuses women the right to educate
themselves, participate politically, economically, and socially in their communities, and forces them
to wear veils as a sign of subjugation to male authority. I myself, until very recently was prone to
these beliefs. It wasn't until I participated in an alpha–beta culture game that I was able to grasp a
woman's view within a male dominated society. Islam grants women the right to be educated, to
vote, and otherwise participate socially, economically, and politically while maintaining that

Canada Goose: A Fashion Trending Brand
Canada Goose is a successful, fashion trending brand that has caught the eyes of many consumers
around the world. The company has gone through two name changes since it was established in
1957. It was first born to the name of Metro Sportswear, in Toronto, Ontario by Sam Tick. "Son–in–
law, David Reis, eventually took over the business, building it into a supplier of utilitarian down–
filled coats favoured by the public–sector workers who mostly laboured outside" (Kelly, 2014). The
company's name changed to Snow Goose, and it was David's son, Dani Reiss who later changed the
name to Canada Goose in 2000. Dani became the CEO in 2001 and while maintaining all production
within Canada, he began expanding internationally (Kelly, 2014). Dani

Culture, Tradition, Traditions, And Traditions
The literature review chapter will allow one to have a general insight about the implication of
culture, traditions, and their cognation. The level of considering culture, identity and traditions when
organizing private events; weddings and the role of modernization .......furthermore, the history of
weddings and how marriage have changed over time in the Arabic society is identified. Finally,
trends affecting marriages in Qatar are emphasized to provide a deeper understanding of the current
marital situations and the reasons behind divorce.
At the present time, the idea of culture, traditions and their transparency with evolvement in time
has come to fore. Different authors discuss separately these topics in relations to personal needs in a
diverse way. However, the apparent gap of this literature review will be identified.
As these concepts are interrelated, this literature review will provide a conceptual framework,
illustrating the chain thought behind this research, which assists in supporting the aim of this
dissertation.
2.1. A Culture
Clarke (2008) elaborated in his book that recently writers are struggling to focus on exploring the
common aspects of different culture and beliefs in relation to ethnicity, identities and the
construction of their boundaries. There are several components which are supporting these unwanted
boundaries. For instance, human's behavior, their languages, beliefs religions and not to forget the
society they are living in. Adding to that,

Canada Goose Case Study
Canada goose is a publicly trading high end luxury Canadian clothing company specializing in
outwear. Canada goose was founded in in 1957 by Sam Tick in Toronto, Canada when Sam Tick
immigrated to Canada from Poland. The Company was originally created under the name Metro
Sportswear Ltd. Ticks son–in–law join the company some years after it was created. It was during
this time that the company began to develop and expand. It was at this time that Metro Sportswear
was changed to Snow Goose, and soon after the now famous brand Canada goose was born. During
the late 170s and early 1980s Canada goose began expanding their product range they introduced
the Parka. This was due the growing need of scientist that were traveling to the coolest places in the
world for exploration and research along with this new product release came the invention of the
Down filling Machine. This machine revolutionised how down filled jackets were produced
allowing for a standardised way of filling these jackets in a controlled fashion.
Over the succeeding few decades the company enjoyed an ever growing success through its
Canadian market opening new warehouses in Winnipeg as well as its privet label and popularity in
Hollywood pop culture. Up until this point the company's success was largely based on a whole sale
business concept with their product largely being sold in Canada, Europe and the United States.
However beginning 2016 Canada goose has begun to expand their business model by opening two

Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals
There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are more obvious when
compared between different breeds of the same species. For most domesticated species, the
variations within an organism are usually descended from a single wild species. Variation arises
from natural selection, and refers to variation both within and between species. Darwin did not
believe that all domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics
disproves this.
Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the wolves. Similar trends
are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses, cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be
analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds:
landfowl (chicken, quail, pheasant) and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild
birds. Poultry indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the
behavior, evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine the traits
selected for different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds have evolved with
alterations that could be seen as adaptations to the environment.
Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism involves numerous
changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting occurrence to note is reduction in
brain size from wild to domestic animals. As

Canada Goose Persuasive Essay
In order for us to enter the luxury fashion market, I have three suggestions that would not only
improve the public perception of the brand but also increase our profit. Currently, Nunnavut Puffin
is more well known for the functionality of the jackets, rather than for our values as luxury goods.
Unlike Canada Goose and Moncler, which are perceived as luxury goods, rather than merely
outwear, we have a smaller range of products, our price range is lower, and also we lack efficient
marketing strategies. Because Canada Goose also started as an outdoor apparel company, we will be
able to transition to a luxury outwear brand if we look closely at the history of Canada Goose and
benchmark them.
First, we need to redesign our logo. Luxury outwear brands like Moncler and Canada Goose are
represented by their unique logos. When someone wears Canada Goose, you recognize the jacket he
or she is wearing because of the logo. Their marketing strategies take advantage of human
psychology that we like to show off and prove to others how much we can spend on a winter coat
that we are only wearing in winter. In order to shift ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we look at the case of Canada Goose, they sent their coats to celebrities to have their brand to be
imprinted on the American consciousness. They sponsored cold–weather film festivals where the
Hollywood crowd could cosplay for a week as snow bunnies. We know from examples from various
industries that celebrities often have a huge impact on consumers' decision because consumers
admire celebrities and want to be like them. This can be illustrated by Adidas Yeezy, an official
collaboration sneaker by Kanye West and Adidas. Taking advantage of Kanye West's fame, Adidas
successfully not only marketed their products but also acquired significant amount of revenue. If we
follow these examples and sponsor Hollywood events, we will see the effects that both Canada

Rats Impact On England
What had the greatest impact on England – Rats or Rebels? Mikail Anser 7F Rats were the cause of
a disease called 'The black death' also known as the bubonic plague, this disease killed over
1,500,000 people in England, this shows that they were a major issue due to the infectious diseases
they carried (killing many people). It was also stated that even gravediggers died as for this
infection. A reason that this was a big concern was because during the 14r h century, people didn't
have good medical knowledge meaning that people with the disease were most likely going to die.
Another dispute caused by the rats is that if people caught the virus, they'd be badly infected
meaning that they couldn't go to work or any job which leads to no income

Trumpeter Swan Research Paper
The Trumpeter Swan is an immense waterfowl with a heavy body and long neck; they can stretch to
6 feet in length and can weigh more than 25 pounds. These waterfowl can be found in North
America, Alaska, and Canada. They are known as one of the heaviest flying birds and are almost
twice as big as a Tundra Swan. The color pattern they are known for is their entirely white body and
black legs and bill. Immatures are a grayish brown with a mottled bill that is black at the base.
During migration, the Trumpeter Swan can be confused with the Tundra Swan. A few ways in which
they differ is that the juvenile swan's plumage persists until spring migration, they have narrower
heads, and are larger.
These birds once nested over most of North America but began to disappear due to human
disturbance. However, due to conservation efforts that have been focused on reintroducing the
species, they are having a healthy comeback. Trumpeter Swans inhabit ponds, lakes, and rivers; in
winter, they may even inhabit bays. Historically, they seemed to favor fresh water over salt water,
but that description no longer applies to them. They forage in shallow water and on land, and will
occasionally forage in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would migrate as far south as Texas and California. In 1960, their breeding range was also said
to stretch as far as Missouri and Nebraska. However, in the 1930s, fewer than 100 swans remained
in Canada. Their rapid disappearance started in the 1600s, when hunters began to overhunt them for
their meat, skin, and feathers. By the late 1800s, their populations were decimated. It was also
assumed that the loss of muskrats and beavers harmed Trumpeter Swan populations due to the fact
they use their dens and dams. However, due to conservation projects, the species were able to
recover by the early 2000s. They are now being reintroduced to certain areas, such as Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Ohio, and

Samuel Crawford Kennedy : A Prosperous Maritime Career
SAMUEL CRAWFORD KENNEDY appears to have gone on to have a prosperous maritime career.
Born in 1852 in Renfrewshire, Samuel fol–lowed in the footsteps of his Cook kin and his own
forefathers and went to sea. It seems to have been a straightforward career choice for Samuel in his
youth, and, in 1871, while still living under his mother's roof, he was apprenticing as a sail maker.
He likely completed his apprenticeship be–tween 1873 and 1876, serving for periods aboard the
steamships Caledonia and Karnak, and the sailing ship Lake Ontario.
In 1874, Samuel married Catherine McAdam according to the forms of the Church of Scotland at
the harbour in Troon. Catherine, who was the same age as Samuel but born in Greenock, was the

and 1882. He returned to the Inchgreen as first mate between 1882 and 1884, before signing on with
Gulf of Carpentaria.
The Gulf vessels belonged to the Greenock Steamship Company, a relatively successful undertaking
which Archibald had shares in. More cru–cial than that, however, was the fact that he had become
the company's marine superintendent about 1880. In this capacity, he seems to have pro–vided his
nephews a fast track to employment within the company and Samuel was seemingly no exception.
Samuel's half–cousin, Archibald Cook[C.1.2.1.5], was the ship's carpenter aboard Gulf of
Carpentaria. Both were aboard the ship when, skirting the southern coastline of the Australi–an
mainland, it wrecked off the Victorian coast on the 15th of September 1885. At the subsequent
inquiry by the Steam Navigation Board of Vic–toria, Samuel recounted the ship's sinking:
I went on deck on the morning of the 15th, at 4 o'clock. We were abreast of Wilson's Promontory at
about half–past 7 and signalled. The ship was then steered according to the master's orders, and
headed up for the southernmost Anser Island. When we were near the western end, between the two
islands, the master, the chief of–ficer, and myself were on the bridge. The captain ordered us to take
the bearing of the sun and I had my hand on the sun shade when the vessel struck. It was a severe

nämnda dotterbolag, bland annat Hollandsworth, LTD i London.
division. Detta skapar en

The Importance Of Human Relationship With Waterfowl
Humans have a very influential relationship with waterfowl, theres two sides to it. On one side
humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of
cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose.
Through climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most
species are un–able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of
humans' relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl
don't necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take
advantage of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have become overpopulated
and harm other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been
destroyed and consequently waterfowl have lost a significant number of habitat to breed and
reproduce in. There is a overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important
to stop both of these issues otherwise certain species will be taken over. Hunters and bird watchers
are those who are primarily concerned with these issues, but other sportsmen and women such as
fisherman should be concerned. As shown in "The Role of Waterfowl in Lower Great Lakes Aquatic
Food Webs" by M. L. Schummer and S. A. Petrie, waterfowl play a important role in maintaining

production technique. By dyeing assembled garments made of unbleached wool rather than batches
of yarn before knitting, manufacturing time was trimmed and Benetton could produce garments
upon demand, which minimized the need to maintain an extensive inventory.
To produce many sweaters at reduced cost and financial risk, Benetton took advantage of an old
Italian cottage industry. Benetton farmed out labor–intensive production––knitting and sewing––to
small, family–owned companies (many owned in whole, or part, by Benetton management)
throughout northeast Italy. Employing advanced technology, these companies allowed Benetton to
manufacture in response to increased market demand both domestically and abroad with reduced
financial risk. About 80 percent of production was farmed out to 450 subcontractors who employed
about 20,000 workers in the Veneto region. The remaining 20 percent of value–added, capital–
intensive production––quality control and cutting and dyeing––was performed in house. By 1983
Benetton payments for contract work equaled nearly six times the labor expense for work performed
in its factories, according to the Harvard School of Business.
Benetton's early success is attributable as much to Luciano's genius, as to the Italian and local
business

The Departure Of The Ship Headed South
Following the departure, the ship headed south. She passed Lisbon on the 15th and had passed
through the Suez Canal by the end of the month. Australian waters were reached by the end of July
and passen–gers unloaded in Townsville from the 1st to the 3rd of August, in Rock–hampton from
the 5th to the 6th, and deposited the remainder in Bris–bane after her arrival there on the 13th. She
departed in ballast on the 26th and proceeded to load wool in Newcastle and Sydney. Destined for
London via Adelaide and Port Augusta, Archibald and Gulf of Carpenta–ria departed Sydney at 6
a.m. on the 13th of September.

She was then going down very fast aft, and had all the appearance as if she would sink in a few
minutes. I then ordered the boats to be lowered, and directed the en–gineers and firemen to come up

neers, sailors, and firemen behaved admirably in carrying out my in–structions, and no one left his
station until he was directed to do so. Before leaving the engine–room the engineer eased the safety–
valves and closed the tunnel doors, and to this cause I attribute the fact that the ship was so long
going down. We were all in the boats and clear of the doomed ship at a quarter to 9 o'clock and
exactly 20 minutes after we struck. Neither myself nor anyone else saved any of our ef–fects. I also
lost all of the books, papers, certificates, and everything belonging to me. I did not consider it safe to

Essay on Once and Future King
Once and Future King
Experience is Everything
In the book, The Once and Future King, T.H. White shows the importance that education relies
heavily upon ones own personal experiences. When Merlyn is called on to tutor Wart, an adopted
child, he uses this exact learning method on Wart. Merlyn, who is a magician, uses transformation as
a his learning tool. Merlyn turns Wart into different animals to show Wart lessons of life. Through
each transformation Wart experiences different forms of power, each being a part of how he should
rule as king. When Wart experiences each of these different stages of lesson he finds out from Mr. P
that mind power is nothing, from the wild goose he learns freedom, and ... Show more content on

As Wart is listening to Mr. P say this he is stunned by the words he is saying to him. Wart is
astonished that
Mr. P is thinking about eating him. At this instance Wart has enough time to turn around and swim
away just in the nick–of–time to escape from Mr. P.
Another one of Wart's transformation places him in a flock of geese. These geese are a peace loving
race that never kill. Wart learns all about being a geese from other geese. Wart learns most of his
lessons from a goose named Lyo–lyok. Wart and Lyo–lyok talk about how the geese communicate
and most everything about geese. When Wart asks, "Are we fighting people?"
(169). Wart and Lyo–lyok get in an argument. Lyo–lyok refuses to listen to Warts explanation to his
question. Lyo–lyok did not understand Wart's point of view. Once Wart explains to Lyo–lyok his
situation, she then helps Wart in his understanding of the goose. Wart learns that there is one leader
to a group who is called The Admiral. He guides them on their flight south for the winter. The
Admiral receives his position because of his knowledge of the southern migration route. He is only
elected if all the geese in the migration group agree he is capable of doing the job.

Analysis: Dogville
I analysen
undersøges denne tese, og i diskussionen holdes filmens form op imod dens indhold. Rapporten
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a bit confusin, and the answer I chose could have been right to begin with. I don't remember the exct

Question 4: Which of the statments are true? i do not remember the answers on this one, so i can't
comment on this one.
Question 8: Vegitarian diets...? On this question the answer I chose said "can avoid difficiancy of
nutrients with proper planning." In class I remember you telling us that a lot of times this diet will
have certain missing nurietants. So this was one of the reason i chose the anser. After finding out i
got it wrong I went into the book to figure out why i had gotten it wrong. The book states on page
103 "Vegetarians who do not select their food combinations properly, however can develope
nutritiaonal deficiences of protein, vitamins, minerals, and even calories." That being said, if one
were to properly plan the vegitarian diet they could avoid difficanty of nutrients. That is why i

what good will taking in less calories do when all the calories you are taking in are from fast food
resturants like mcdonalds. By watching what they eat, they will make better food intake choices,
these food choices, will be healthiar, have a better nutrianal value, keep them more energized, and
keep them full longer. By keeping them full longer they wont be eating as much because they wont
be craving food, thus loweing the caloric intake as well. This is the reason why i chose that answer

We got out and she helped him, we had a first aid kit and she started to clean his wounds. I was just

minutes later rushing to her sons side, thanking Kristen over and over again. After we knew
everything was okay we got back into the car and headed to practice. When we got to my practiced I

Islam and Western Media

Hafiz M. K. Siddiqui
Introduction to Islam
Islam & Muslims in Western Media
In July 12, 2008 publication of the New York Times, it was reported that the President of Sri Lanka
was killed in a suicide attack. The religion of the suicide bomber was never reported. The very same
newspaper (on November 5, 2009), reported that how a Muslim attacker attacked the US Base and
killed US army soldiers. This discrimination against the Muslims and Islam is nothing but the fruit
of Western Media's propaganda against the Muslims and Islam. In Western countries, Islam is often
looked upon as an "extremist", "terrorist", or "fundamental" religion. In many cases, the media's ...

The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on a
battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain
armed at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media's biased
and inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba–Yunus 1).
While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media's misconception i.e.
Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media.
Jihad is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam's justification for war and
violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says "Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against
you, but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression". A Muslim is permitted to
take up arms only as an act of self–defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life, and his
property (Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for
independence in Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and
terrorist mean the same in their dictionary.
Jihad literally means "The struggle in the path of God", or "holy war". However, the Western media
often abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill
non–believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can

The British Government And The European Union
The British government is the process of negotiating reforms before it holds a referendum about
whether Britain should remain a member of the European Union or withdraw. While reforms are
demanded publicly in four areas, there are issues behind those demands that are seldom pronounced
openly.
The demand for change in economic governance, competitiveness, immigration and sovereignty
have been already put in the public domain. In economic governmance, London does not want to
concede more powers to Brussels, to join the euro and to be part of the ever closer union in Europe.
Britain believes that excessive regulation by Brussels has reduced European, particularly British
competitiveness. Therefore it would like to see the European Union 's power to regulate diminished.
It also wants to exercise greater control over its border and impose certain restrictions on the welfare
payment to new migrants in Britain from Europen Union members. And it wants to return some of
the powers to the British parliament that were conceded to the union.
The British cabinet, businesses, and people are divided on the issue. The division in the cabinet is so
deep that Prime Minister Cameron, who supports remaining in a reformed EU, has allowed his
ministers to choose their side without the fear of losing their jobs. For instance, the foreign secretary
support Cameron 's position while the defence secretary doe not.
Although most businesses seem to support staying in the European Union, a minority

Chapter III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Case study research is the in–depth study of instances of a phenomenon in its natural context and
from the perspective of the participants involved in the phenomenon. (Gall, Gall, & Borg, 2003, p.
436)
This qualitative case study analysis was searching for themes that emerged from leadership
structures that support a collaborative culture of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in a
large high school in order to inform the creation of a guide entitled Leadership Structures that
Support High–Functioning, Sustainable PLCs in High Schools: A School and District Leader?s

The research questions that guided this investigation were:
What leadership structures at the school and district level best support teacher collective efficacy in
secondary schools?
Who needs to be a part of the instructional leadership team in order to support Professional Learning
Communities in secondary schools?
What activities of the instructional leadership team produce high–functioning Professional Learning
Communities?
This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of methodology used in this study: research design,
study participants, data collection and instruments, reliability and validity, data analysis, ethical
concerns, and study limitations, followed by a brief summary.

Andy

It was a beautiful spring morning in Mound City Missouri. The population was only around 1,000
people. Andrew and I were up bright and early before the peak of dawn. The forecast looked sunny
with a touch of fog. We were busy at the hotel preparing for our first morning of the hunt. "Andrew
don't forget the snacks and Mountain Dew like you did last year," I hinted. With a chuckle, Andrew
said, "I won't this time, and you make sure we got the shotguns, and shells packed. We can't forget
those." Both of us had our stuff together and headed outside to the truck. They made sure they had
everything and were off on our 20–minute drive to the field. We got out and unpacked. We both laid

I had said to Andrew, "Well Andrew let's go back on our trip and have some fun."
We had left the hospital around 5 am just in time to get to the field. We started off the day, and we
shot a lot of geese that morning. We shot 197 snow geese on the trip. We were at the hotel on
Monday morning, and we were eating breakfast when we saw what the forecast was on the news.
There was supposed to be a really bad snow storm, but we blew it off, and we started our trip home
around noon. We were about an hour into the trip and the snow storm hit. It was blizzard conditions,
and the wind started to pick up, and before long the wind was howling! We had to stay at a hotel in
Maryville.
I blew up at Andrew, "Why did we have to go we could have just stayed in Mound City!"
"Sorry!," "I didn't no it was going to get this bad," Andrew said.

What Causes, And Effects Of The World Without Torture?
So we know that confinement took a great toll on the people, so what about the people chained to
the walls? How were their minds and lives effected? "What makes torture such a heinous crime is
the fact that its impact goes far beyond the immediate physical or psychological pain. Torture can
have serious long–term physical and mental health consequences for the victims." (WWT 3) When
looking across multiple symptoms of the effects of torture I came to see 6 things come across nearly
everytime. World Without Torture (WWT) has an entire site about the how's, when's, and effects of
torture. Anger, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Emotional Numbing and avoidance, Hyperarousal,
and one that may not apply directly to any of these patients, sexual dysfunction. Maybe the last
would apply to those chained to the walls, nude, cold, and hungry. To be mocked by strangers,
possibley by familiar foes, had to be a little more than tramatizing. This could result in a discomfort
dealing with themselves or another person. Anger seemed to develop easily between the pateints.
Those put on display would often throw the urns (used as tolitrey) as gaurds or passerby, drenching
them in urine. This anger would also cause all, if not most, remiaining family and friends to become
inpatient with the victum, and eventaully leave them to fend for themselves. Anxiety can show it's
form in many ways, some may not even know that it's there until tey recive their first panic attack.

Media Portrayal Of Islam Essay

  • 1. Media Portrayal of Islam Essay Islam: suppressor of women, enemy of Western nations, and breeder of terrorists. The West has many stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam that are due to the media, prejudice, and ignorance. Islam is often seen as an "extremist" or "terrorist" religion. Often, the media's reports about Islam are incorrect due to ignorance or not wanting to acknowledge its true teachings. This is one of the reasons why Westerners are often wary of Muslims. In contrast to what the media portrays, Islam is a peaceful religion, which does not promote violence or terrorism. Islamic stereotypes are not new to Western culture. Problems can be traced back to the time of the Crusades, when Christians and Muslims were vying for control of Jerusalem. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although some fringe movements of other religions are quite radical and violent, extremists in the Muslim world receive a disproportionate amount of media coverage. Associating Islam with violence is a false impression that the Western public has long cultivated about this religion. An example of this misconception is that Islam is a religion spread by the sword, meaning that Muslims went from one end of the world to the other, conquering nations and forcing the inhabitants to either convert or die. The truth is that Islam spread through the expansion of the Ottoman empire, not that people were forced to convert or die. A modern day example of the Islam=violence misconception is Saddam Hussein. Although Hussein is of the Islamic faith, not all of his actions necessarily represent Islamic beliefs. As seen from a Western perspective, Islam is a religion that refuses women the right to educate themselves, participate politically, economically, and socially in their communities, and forces them to wear veils as a sign of subjugation to male authority. I myself, until very recently was prone to these beliefs. It wasn't until I participated in an alpha–beta culture game that I was able to grasp a woman's view within a male dominated society. Islam grants women the right to be educated, to vote, and otherwise participate socially, economically, and politically while maintaining that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company has gone through two name changes since it was established in 1957. It was first born to the name of Metro Sportswear, in Toronto, Ontario by Sam Tick. "Son–in– law, David Reis, eventually took over the business, building it into a supplier of utilitarian down– filled coats favoured by the public–sector workers who mostly laboured outside" (Kelly, 2014). The company's name changed to Snow Goose, and it was David's son, Dani Reiss who later changed the name to Canada Goose in 2000. Dani became the CEO in 2001 and while maintaining all production within Canada, he began expanding internationally (Kelly, 2014). Dani ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Culture, Tradition, Traditions, And Traditions The literature review chapter will allow one to have a general insight about the implication of culture, traditions, and their cognation. The level of considering culture, identity and traditions when organizing private events; weddings and the role of modernization .......furthermore, the history of weddings and how marriage have changed over time in the Arabic society is identified. Finally, trends affecting marriages in Qatar are emphasized to provide a deeper understanding of the current marital situations and the reasons behind divorce. At the present time, the idea of culture, traditions and their transparency with evolvement in time has come to fore. Different authors discuss separately these topics in relations to personal needs in a diverse way. However, the apparent gap of this literature review will be identified. As these concepts are interrelated, this literature review will provide a conceptual framework, illustrating the chain thought behind this research, which assists in supporting the aim of this dissertation. 2.1. A Culture Clarke (2008) elaborated in his book that recently writers are struggling to focus on exploring the common aspects of different culture and beliefs in relation to ethnicity, identities and the construction of their boundaries. There are several components which are supporting these unwanted boundaries. For instance, human's behavior, their languages, beliefs religions and not to forget the society they are living in. • 14. Canada Goose Case Study Canada goose is a publicly trading high end luxury Canadian clothing company specializing in outwear. Canada goose was founded in in 1957 by Sam Tick in Toronto, Canada when Sam Tick immigrated to Canada from Poland. The Company was originally created under the name Metro Sportswear Ltd. Ticks son–in–law join the company some years after it was created. It was during this time that the company began to develop and expand. It was at this time that Metro Sportswear was changed to Snow Goose, and soon after the now famous brand Canada goose was born. During the late 170s and early 1980s Canada goose began expanding their product range they introduced the Parka. This was due the growing need of scientist that were traveling to the coolest places in the world for exploration and research along with this new product release came the invention of the Down filling Machine. This machine revolutionised how down filled jackets were produced allowing for a standardised way of filling these jackets in a controlled fashion. Over the succeeding few decades the company enjoyed an ever growing success through its Canadian market opening new warehouses in Winnipeg as well as its privet label and popularity in Hollywood pop culture. Up until this point the company's success was largely based on a whole sale business concept with their product largely being sold in Canada, Europe and the United States. • 16. Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are more obvious when compared between different breeds of the same species. For most domesticated species, the variations within an organism are usually descended from a single wild species. Variation arises from natural selection, and refers to variation both within and between species. Darwin did not believe that all domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics disproves this. Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the wolves. Similar trends are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses, cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds: landfowl (chicken, quail, pheasant) and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild birds. Poultry indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the behavior, evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine the traits selected for different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds have evolved with alterations that could be seen as adaptations to the environment. Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism involves numerous changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting occurrence to note is reduction in brain size from wild to domestic animals. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Canada Goose Persuasive Essay In order for us to enter the luxury fashion market, I have three suggestions that would not only improve the public perception of the brand but also increase our profit. Currently, Nunnavut Puffin is more well known for the functionality of the jackets, rather than for our values as luxury goods. Unlike Canada Goose and Moncler, which are perceived as luxury goods, rather than merely outwear, we have a smaller range of products, our price range is lower, and also we lack efficient marketing strategies. Because Canada Goose also started as an outdoor apparel company, we will be able to transition to a luxury outwear brand if we look closely at the history of Canada Goose and benchmark them. First, we need to redesign our logo. Luxury outwear brands like Moncler and Canada Goose are represented by their unique logos. When someone wears Canada Goose, you recognize the jacket he or she is wearing because of the logo. Their marketing strategies take advantage of human psychology that we like to show off and prove to others how much we can spend on a winter coat that we are only wearing in winter. In order to shift ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They sponsored cold–weather film festivals where the Hollywood crowd could cosplay for a week as snow bunnies. This can be illustrated by Adidas Yeezy, an official collaboration sneaker by Kanye West and Adidas. Taking advantage of Kanye West's fame, Adidas successfully not only marketed their products but also acquired significant amount of revenue. Mikail Anser 7F Rats were the cause of a disease called 'The black death' also known as the bubonic plague, this disease killed over 1,500,000 people in England, this shows that they were a major issue due to the infectious diseases they carried (killing many people). It was also stated that even gravediggers died as for this infection. A reason that this was a big concern was because during the 14r h century, people didn't have good medical knowledge meaning that people with the disease were most likely going to die. Another dispute caused by the rats is that if people caught the virus, they'd be badly infected meaning that they couldn't go to work or any job which leads to no income ... • 22. Trumpeter Swan Research Paper The Trumpeter Swan is an immense waterfowl with a heavy body and long neck; they can stretch to 6 feet in length and can weigh more than 25 pounds. These waterfowl can be found in North America, Alaska, and Canada. They are known as one of the heaviest flying birds and are almost twice as big as a Tundra Swan. The color pattern they are known for is their entirely white body and black legs and bill. Immatures are a grayish brown with a mottled bill that is black at the base. During migration, the Trumpeter Swan can be confused with the Tundra Swan. A few ways in which they differ is that the juvenile swan's plumage persists until spring migration, they have narrower heads, and are larger. These birds once nested over most of North America but began to disappear due to human disturbance. However, due to conservation efforts that have been focused on reintroducing the species, they are having a healthy comeback. Trumpeter Swans inhabit ponds, lakes, and rivers; in winter, they may even inhabit bays. Historically, they seemed to favor fresh water over salt water, but that description no longer applies to them. They forage in shallow water and on land, and will occasionally forage in ... By the late 1800s, their populations were decimated. It was also assumed that the loss of muskrats and beavers harmed Trumpeter Swan populations due to the fact they use their dens and dams. However, due to conservation projects, the species were able to recover by the early 2000s. They are now being reintroduced to certain areas, such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and ... Born in 1852 in Renfrewshire, Samuel fol–lowed in the footsteps of his Cook kin and his own forefathers and went to sea. It seems to have been a straightforward career choice for Samuel in his youth, and, in 1871, while still living under his mother's roof, he was apprenticing as a sail maker. He likely completed his apprenticeship be–tween 1873 and 1876, serving for periods aboard the steamships Caledonia and Karnak, and the sailing ship Lake Ontario. He served as second mate aboard Inchgreen and aboard the steamship Gulf of Suez between 1881 and 1882. He returned to the Inchgreen as first mate between 1882 and 1884, before signing on with Gulf of Carpentaria. The Gulf vessels belonged to the Greenock Steamship Company, a relatively successful undertaking which Archibald had shares in. More cru–cial than that, however, was the fact that he had become the company's marine superintendent about 1880. In this capacity, he seems to have pro–vided his nephews a fast track to employment within the company and Samuel was seemingly no exception. Samuel's half–cousin, Archibald Cook[C.1.2.1.5], was the ship's carpenter aboard Gulf of Carpentaria. Both were aboard the ship when, skirting the southern coastline of the Australi–an mainland, it wrecked off the Victorian coast on the 15th of September 1885. At the subsequent inquiry by the Steam Navigation Board of Vic–toria, Samuel recounted the ship's sinking: I went on deck on the morning of the 15th, at 4 o'clock. We were abreast of Wilson's Promontory at about half–past 7 and signalled. The ship was then steered according to the master's orders, and headed up for the southernmost Anser Island. When we were near the western end, between the two islands, the master, the chief of–ficer, and myself were on the bridge. On one side humans have completely changed waterfowls natural migrating path. With the modern expansion of cities, certain species have adapted and now use them as refuges, such as the Canada goose. Through climate change humans have disrupted waterfowls natural patterns of migration, and most species are un–able to adapt quickly enough to the rapidly changing temperatures. The other side of humans' relationship with waterfowl is that through our modern agriculture practices waterfowl don't necessarily need to migrate to get food, only to leave the cold. Most waterfowl species take advantage of the surplus grain left in agriculture fields, some of which have become overpopulated and harm other species of waterfowl. With the increase of agriculture fields, wetlands have been destroyed and consequently waterfowl have lost a significant number of habitat to breed and reproduce in. There is a overpopulation of certain species and a decrease in wetlands, it is important to stop both of these issues otherwise certain species will be taken over. Hunters and bird watchers are those who are primarily concerned with these issues, but other sportsmen and women such as fisherman should be concerned. Its core business is clothing: a group with a strong Italian character whose style, design expertise and passion are clearly seen in the United Colors of Benetton and the more fashion–oriented Sisley brands, and in sportswear brands Playlife and Killer Loop. The Group produces over 110 million garments every year, over 90% in Europe. Key Dates: 1955: Giuliana and Luciano Benetton buy their first knitting machine and begin selling Giuliana's woolen sweaters. 1965: The Benetton family forms a partnership, Maglificio di Ponzano Veneto dei Fratelli Benetton. 1972: The company introduces a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Production at the company was also unique. In 1972 Luciano introduced a time– and money–saving production technique. By dyeing assembled garments made of unbleached wool rather than batches of yarn before knitting, manufacturing time was trimmed and Benetton could produce garments upon demand, which minimized the need to maintain an extensive inventory. To produce many sweaters at reduced cost and financial risk, Benetton took advantage of an old Italian cottage industry. Benetton farmed out labor–intensive production––knitting and sewing––to small, family–owned companies (many owned in whole, or part, by Benetton management) throughout northeast Italy. Employing advanced technology, these companies allowed Benetton to manufacture in response to increased market demand both domestically and abroad with reduced financial risk. About 80 percent of production was farmed out to 450 subcontractors who employed about 20,000 workers in the Veneto region. The remaining 20 percent of value–added, capital– intensive production––quality control and cutting and dyeing––was performed in house. By 1983 Benetton payments for contract work equaled nearly six times the labor expense for work performed in its factories, according to the Harvard School of Business. Benetton's early success is attributable as much to Luciano's genius, as to the Italian and local business ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

• 57. Islam and Western Media Komail Haider Due Date: 11–14–2009 and Presentation on 11–21–2009 Hafiz M. K. Siddiqui Introduction to Islam Islam & Muslims in Western Media In July 12, 2008 publication of the New York Times, it was reported that the President of Sri Lanka was killed in a suicide attack. The religion of the suicide bomber was never reported. The very same newspaper (on November 5, 2009), reported that how a Muslim attacker attacked the US Base and killed US army soldiers. This discrimination against the Muslims and Islam is nothing but the fruit of Western Media's propaganda against the Muslims and Islam. In Western countries, Islam is often looked upon as an "extremist", "terrorist", or "fundamental" religion. In many cases, the media's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on a battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain armed at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media's biased and inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba–Yunus 1). While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media's misconception i.e. Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media. Jihad is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam's justification for war and violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says "Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression". A Muslim is permitted to take up arms only as an act of self–defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life, and his property (Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for independence in Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and terrorist mean the same in their dictionary. Jihad literally means "The struggle in the path of God", or "holy war". However, the Western media often abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill non–believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can ... The British Government And The European Union The British government is the process of negotiating reforms before it holds a referendum about whether Britain should remain a member of the European Union or withdraw. While reforms are demanded publicly in four areas, there are issues behind those demands that are seldom pronounced openly. The demand for change in economic governance, competitiveness, immigration and sovereignty have been already put in the public domain. In economic governmance, London does not want to concede more powers to Brussels, to join the euro and to be part of the ever closer union in Europe. Britain believes that excessive regulation by Brussels has reduced European, particularly British competitiveness. Therefore it would like to see the European Union 's power to regulate diminished. It also wants to exercise greater control over its border and impose certain restrictions on the welfare payment to new migrants in Britain from Europen Union members. And it wants to return some of the powers to the British parliament that were conceded to the union. The British cabinet, businesses, and people are divided on the issue. The division in the cabinet is so deep that Prime Minister Cameron, who supports remaining in a reformed EU, has allowed his ministers to choose their side without the fear of losing their jobs. For instance, the foreign secretary support Cameron 's position while the defence secretary doe not. Although most businesses seem to support staying in the European Union, a minority ...
