has to replicate inside one of its hosts cells because it is not a living thing and thereby, it cannot live
on its own. Once one is infected with HSV 1 it stays with them for life. Symptoms: Patients may
display small, painful blisters filled with fluid around the lips or edge of the mouth. There may also

Herpes is a highly contagious viral infection with a family of eight different types of viruses that
affect the human body. There is herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) or the HHV1, which targets the
facial area with cold sores on the lips. Additionally, there is herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2) or the
HHV2, which is known to cause a sexually transmitted disease known as genital herpes. Another
one is the varicella–zoster virus (HHV3) which has been linked to chickenpox. Apart from
chickenpox, it is also known to cause shingles– a recurrent skin infection. Another type of herpes is
Epstein–Barr virus (HHV4) which is the causative agent of the 'kissing disease' or mononucleosis.
The 'kissing disease' is contagious and is passed from one person to the other through sharing
utensils, saliva, or sneezing interactions with an infected person. Moreover, there is (HHV5),
officially known as cytomegalovirus (CMV). Apart from the HHV4, it is also thought to cause
mononucleosis. The virus is particularly dangerous for healthy people as it may fail to show any
signs or symptoms. It can be contracted through sexual encounters, and it affects newborns in
addition to causing hepatitis. Not only through sexual contact can CMV be passed on but also by
breast– feeding, blood transfusion, or by an organ transplant. This infection is one of the hardest

Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today.
Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV–1
which is often found in the mouth area and HSV–2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used
in order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA
involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary antibody
bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better amplified
signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV. Indirect ELISA
however cannot determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample. The cause of HSV–1
is the exchange of body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while sexual contact causes
HSV–2. Though it rarely happens, there are possibilities that false positive or false negative results
were obtained in Indirect ELISA. Interference may cause error.

The adaptive response surface optimisation routine is used to optimise numerical models with a lot
of data points and the time reducing by the algorithm increases as the number of parameters rises
[40]. The routine is designed to handle multiple–output time series data [35]. The optimisation
procedure can be divided into following steps:
1. Starting reference simulation points are ran and a correct object function is built of the difference
between the FE model and the target value (experiment or validation model).
2. The FE model is replaced by a meta–model of response surfaces to decrease the optimisation time
but remains an accurate approximation.
3. The optimisation routine is run on a specific object function. It is possible to use multiple
objective functions or build an objective function related to multiple outputs.

highest predicted inhibitory activities of un–synthesized phenylguanine analogues were
pentafluoroethyl, phenoxy, pentafluorothio, phenylazo, trifluoromethylthio. This was due to their
