Palm Beach Research Paper
5 Underrated Things to Do in Palm Beach Palm Beach in Aruba is the best kept secret among those
who have ventured to this fabulous Caribbean island. Located in the northern part of Aruba, there
are a great many things to do here. The following are five of the most overlooked activities that can
be done while spending time near this beach. Swimming and snorkeling This is clearly an
underrated activity on Palm Beach. The water is very calm and ready made for those who want to
swim without worrying about a wave or strong currents. For this same reason, it is easy to move on
top of the water and enjoy the view under the water. In addition, there are few water activities close
to the shore. Water sports are done farther away, so you never have to be concerned about others.
For that matter, much of the this two mile stretch of beach is not crowded at most times of the year.
Peaceful reflection Unlike similar resorts and vacation spots in the Caribbean, including other places
on this island, it is Palm Beach that has little of the noise and crowds that many vacationers have
grown accustomed to. Here at Palm Beach, a person can relax and empty his or her mind of all of
the distractions and stress of modern life. There is no better place to see a sunset, and for many
visitors, it is the first real sunset they have ever experienced. ... Show more content on

One water activity that can be found here is banana boating. If you are not familiar with this, you
may find it a lot of fun. Also called water sledding, it is done with three to 10 people who straddle
an inflatable device that is shaped something like a banana. In fact, there are models that are made to
look just like a banana. This raft is then pulled by a motor boat, and all you need to do is hold on.
Tubing can also be found here as well. These towable water tubes can be used by one or two people,
and are just as much fun as the banana

Descriptive Essay About Marco Island
When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the
shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every
direction. During the frigid and dreary months of Missouri's winter, there is one place in particular
that my heart longs to be. Marco Island, Florida. When most people think of a luxurious vacation,
they imagine crystal clear water, snowy white sands, and a miraculous five star hotel. Marco Island
is no Bora Bora, but to me it's the most enchanting small town that values simplicity and offers pure
bliss to anyone coming to visit. My father proposed the idea of vacationing on Marco Island before
the summer of 2016 after hearing multiple people rave to him about the breathtaking beaches and
unforgettable experiences. My mother and I had never heard of Marco Island, but after five short
minutes of browsing through images online of the picturesque island, we were instantly captivated
and could not wait to see it for ourselves. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for our trip
to commence, we finally arrived on the dreamy island. Rather than staying at a hotel, we rented a
beach house that was supposedly only a six minute walk from Marco Island Beach. While pulling up
to the magnificent home, I was holding back tears of joy. The pale grayish–blue house looked like it
had jumped right out of a framed photograph hanging up in the waiting room of a doctor's office.

What Is My Personal Experience Essay
Everyone has been through a personal experience, whether it has changed their lives for better or
worse. These experiences can be eclectic events such as going out to explore the world or even
devastating events such as tragic accidents. My personal experience occurred a year ago during the
summer when I took a trip to visit San Francisco, California with my family. This trip to San
Francisco was a thrilling adventure due to the city being very beautiful and breathtaking. During my
visit to the city I was able to take part in the beaches, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Six Flags.
To begin with, the beaches near San Francisco are stunning. California has nice weather during the
summer to attend beaches because it is not too hot or chilly outside. ... Show more content on

My family and I were able to cross the famous bridge a few times in the car as we traveled a bit
around California. The view from the bridge was beautiful during the day and as well at night. It
was nice during the day to see the sun sparkling on the water as boats sailed by, but appealing during
nightfall because of the bright lights on the bridge. Also, the city lights around it brought out the
overall awe of the bridge. During one of our passing on the bridge, we were able to make a quick
stop at the top of the hill and take a few family pictures together with the bridge. My brother would
tease me every time anyone brings up our visit to the Golden Gate Bridge because I was afraid to
stand near the edge of the mountain to take our family photos since I imagined I was going to slip
and fall. Furthermore, as we traveled through the bridge I had noticed telephone posts on either side
of the bridge. These telephones were for the suicidal people who thought it was time to end their
lives. The telephones were used to connect those who were suicidal to a counselor to help talk them
out of committing such a tragedy. They may have helped saved plenty lives. It has been known by
many that the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the many bridges that countless of people tend to go to

"Brrr." I shivered when I stepped into the shallow water. After 30 seconds, though, I adjusted.
"C'mon Tessa!" my brother Zen, called out as he raced by. "Okay!" I replied as I splashed after him.
I was at the beach with my family. I had never been to a beach before, so it was a lot of fun, even
though it was only at Lake Michigan in Chicago. As we ran my dad followed us into the water.
"Hey, Zen, can you do this?" I asked as I waddled like a duck, " Quack, quack, HONK!!!" "That's
easy," he responded as he started imitating the way I was walking, "Can you do this?" Now he was

frankly. "Okay!" I said cheerfully as I started scooping up wet sand. I made sure to get plenty sand
nice and packed. I started shaping the sand into a tower. I could feel the sun beating on my back, my
hair whipping around in the wind. I could hear the waves crawling up to the shore. It was the perfect
summer– "Tessa, can you help me?" Zen interrupted. He had sand up to his knees. "No, I'm busy
making my own sand structure." I responded. I went back to building my tower. My hands were
caked with sand. I brushed my hair out of my face with my arm. I got up up and walked to the water.
My hands dipped into the sun–heated water. I pulled back my hair and plunged the bucket into the
lake water. When it submerged the sand washed away and it was filled with water. I skipped back,
trying not to spill the water, sand spraying with every step. I plopped onto the ground. I poured the
water over the top, creating a bowl shaped tower. I shook my hair back over my shoulders again. I

Robert Frost Essay
"Good fences makes good neighbors," is a small portion from the Mending Wall written by one of
modern times most proficient writers, Robert Frost. Two of the critical articles I examined were
quite helpful in gaining a better understanding of the "Mending Wall" and also of Robert Frost's
poetry. The Gale Research shows the best and most effective understanding of the "Mending Wall,"
mainly because it deals specifically with that poem. It basically states that the poem is built around
two attitudes, that of the speaker, which the Gale critic presumes is the poet, who is imaginative and
an independent thinker and that of the neighbor, who prefers not to question anything (Gale). The
other article deals more with other poetry that Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gale Research article continues by saying the wall bothers the poet, believing it to be
unnecessary. The article goes on by elaborating the poet's feelings saying the wall divides the
speakers apple trees from the neighbors pine trees. The conclusion I receive when I read this portion
of the article is the poet feels that the wall is binding the relationship between the two men and
without it would increase their friendship, while the neighbor likes to keep his thoughts t himself
allowing privacy to exist. My own belief sway more towards that of the neighbor, privacy allows for
good neighbors, hence the statement "Good fences make good neighbors," which is expressed in the
poem.
In the book "Critical Reception," the author, Linda W. Wagner, writes several articles of her opinion
on some of Robert Frost's work. I found "Critical Reception" very helpful in understanding
"Mending Wall" because it gave me an insight on Frost's style and similar themes in his poetry. I
concluded that Robert Frost, in some of his works including "Mending Wall," was a poet fascinated
by the mind and by very earthly objects; dealing with how people felt about life in conjunction with
the environment. For example, in the poem "Sand Dunes," Frost describes the sea and a woman,
who in actuality is the sand dune. He transforms the sand dune into a person by referring to the dune
as a she (Wagner 72).
Some of Frost's works share this theme of making nature into a person, which

Varadero Beach Research Paper
The beach, the place that concedes the chance to the people to be closer to the sea, smell the fresh
air, hear the seagulls, and feel the ocean in the feet. Clearwater Beach, in Florida and Varadero
Beach, in Cuba allows one to experience all this explosion of sensations and beyond. For example,
Clearwater Beach and Varadero Beach provide the vacationists the chance to practice diving,
fishing, shelling, sailing, admire wildlife and snorkeling. Additionally, both beaches offer hotels and
warm waters that invite to all who visit them to fall in love with astonishing sunsets. Nevertheless,
there are other aspects that make these two similar beaches different from each other. To begin with,
the water in Varadero Beach is of a crystal light blue. A transparent and clear water that, on the
cloudiest day, allows the visitor to spot the rich marine wildlife. Starfish are visible from the surface,
even when it is as deep as under six feet of water. The jaibas, a kind of sea crab that is very common
in this area, can also be admired running on the seabed, looking for its next meal. The colorful fish
that are endemic from this submarine landscape provide a multicolor picture that is enhanced by the
sunlight making in its way down; a phenomenon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that visitors are allowed as long as they do not threaten the sustainability of the ecosystem present
there. Subsequently, this tourist trap keeps Varadero beach at an almost virgin and pristine stage, an
asset that seems to gain attention during times where society is more in contact with nature rather
than in contact with the crowded and polluted

Childhood Memories Of My Childhood
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of camping trips my parents would take me on starting

black bags hanging from the hands of all the young children with hopes of catching the mysterious
snipe that had been roaming the woods, gathering around warm fires on cool nights with people you
barely know and hearing out their past adventures, hoping to one day to take their place with
adventurous of my own, getting poison ivy rashes from roaming too far off the trail, scraping up my
elbows and knees tumbling over and through rough trails, and getting a fishing hook to wedge itself

Forbidden Love : A Creative Story : Forbidden Love
Forbidden Love Medusa stood on the bank of the water and stuck her toes in. The water was slightly
above room temperature, making today the perfect beach day. If she looked far enough into the
water, she could make out a small sailboat on the brink of the horizon. The sky appeared dipped in
pastels of yellow, blue, and pink. The melted colors networked together and created a beautiful
sunset. In the midst of this vast world, Medusa felt small despite her stature as she stood at the edge
of the water. With this secret beach unpopulated, she took her shirt off and exposed her shoulders to
the world. From behind, Poseidon took his hands and placed them on her hips and gently kissed her
neck. Medusa broke her train of thought off to pull out her phone and check the time. 6:40 p.m. This
would be their last day together until the end of the summer most likely, as it would be much harder
to sneak away with Athena watching their every move. Poseidon pulled his phone out too and held it
to the right side so that they could snap some cute pictures together. One of them kissing, lying on
the beach, sitting on this rock. Medusa loved making memories with him, letting him baby her and
treat her like a goddess. Poseidon caught her staring into his eyes and giggled. When they were
together, it was like they were both caught in a time warp. 8:02 pm. The beach was cold and dark,

Punta Cana Fun
Visiting a different island in the Caribbean each summer has always been a family tradition of mine.
The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once
my family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts
were not so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to
Punta Cana, falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we
landed we were greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the
atmosphere, coconut smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination.

The sugary sand of a Punta Cana beach is so soft, so perfectly golden that you might think it was
synthetic. My favorite thing to do was build enormous sand castles along the shore as the sun blazed
down on me, the sand glistened in the sun like an eight karat diamond ring. The resorts are laid out
like mini cities, completely inclusive in every way, with many of them offering so many amenities
that it made it impossible to partake of everything available,
such as scuba diving, fishing, golfing, wind–sailing, enjoying a day at the spa, or a day out on a
yacht.
This is the ultimate destination for those who simply want to drop their bags, turn off the cell, and
ignore the rest of the world for a little while. We spent five more days in Dominican after leaving
Punta Cana, but it seems like my memories of Punta Cana overshadowed the rest of the journey.

Title: Best gap wedge
With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your
wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when
playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf
wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from
anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a
compromise between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use
today because the 5–degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now
grown to exactly 10 degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a
new club to fill the "gap", and of course, encourage us to buy more products.

Descriptive Essay On The Beach
It is summer break, in the middle of July, my junior year. The salty, floating breeze on San Diego's

clear, baby blue sky and realize the perfection of life and mother nature itself. In the distance, rolling
clear–blue waves crashed into one another with such force as that of god's fighting for the fate of the

middle–aged adults resting on beach towels, kids making sandcastles or frolicking within the ocean,
and young couples holding hands while walking along the shoreline.

"We must find shelter and resources quickly!, my mother exclaimed.
"Let's head to the bay and see if there is food or water available", Riviera said. It was one great
adventure as we shielded ourselves from the rain and ran to the old store near the bay. We rushed
inside and placed ourselves near the flaming orange fire. Nobody seemed to be inside of the small

Argumentative Essay On Beach Erosion
Every year millions of dollars of state and federal dollars are spent to essentially place tons of sand
on America's beaches. This process known as beach nourishment. Proponents often point to this
method as effective way is a way to fight against beach erosion The causes of this erosion are both
manmade and natural, but regardless of the cause this process is only a stop gap that does not
actually address this issue. Instead, both the federal and state governments have spent billions of
dollars over the last few decades to fight the process of erosion with unintended consequences for
both the environment and citizens.
In New Jersey alone state, local and federal agencies have spent 1.2 billion dollars over the last
thirty years to dump 120 million cubic yards of sand over the state's coastline. This high price tag is
in part due to the fact that the sand that is placed on the coastline quickly erodes and a new project
must be undertaken. In fact, sand used to nourish beaches erodes at a rate that is often two to three
times faster than natural sand. This creates a cycle in which beaches are constantly needing to be
renourished and does nothing to actually prevent the process of erosion. ... Show more content on

I frantically piled sand on top of sand. I was trying to build my dream sandcastle independently,

"Daddy, my sand castle keeps falling down. Can you help me?"
My Dad, with a broad smile on his face, scooped me into his big, loving arms. He walked over with
me in his arms to a smooth spot of sand, and together we built a fascinating sand castle.
When we were finished, he took my tiny, sandy hand in his, and my thick little fingers clung to his

Daddy."
"I love you very much, my little princess."

Irons In A Golf Club
Golf clubs are sold in sets and individually. For beginning players, the set of clubs provides a good
selection of what is needed to start in a package that is normally priced nicely. Before choosing a set
of golf clubs honestly assess your playing interest in the game. You may want to start out with a
lower priced set until you determine if you like the game enough to play often. All golf
manufacturers offer golf club sets. The typical set of golf clubs consists of one or two woods, a
driver, 4 irons a putter and a sand wedge or pitching wedge. The most used irons are the 3, 5, 7 and
9 irons. Most beginning players won't notice much difference between the others.
Clubs are made with different materials for the shafts. The material determines how the club will

"Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink the wild air" –Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson's quote
enlightens the idea of transcendentalism. Declaring to enjoy nature for what it is , to value the idea
of having the freedom of it and to realize there is more to life than what you are living. In the essay,
"Nature", by Ralph Waldo Emerson he finds himself challenged by the honesty of nature, which
compares to Chris McCandless adventure in the book, Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer. First, one
must enjoy things as how they come. Emerson explains this feat in his essay by shadowing there is
more than what meets the eye to nature. His purpose for thinking this is shown in this, "Nature never
wears a mean appearance" (Emerson220). In this, Emerson ... Show more content on

Proclaiming this, Krakauer means after one experiences something so great they learn and are
shaped by the change they had. As one goes on in life they change, just like Chris is when he went
to into the wild. As the book goes on it avers, "The fullest sense of the word, an epic journey would
change everything" (Krakauer22). Displaying that Krakauer is referring to McCandless' trip. How
one thing could change someone so much. The honesty of nature shaped McCandless as he was on
this adventure. It showed him how good life can be. As one can tell Emerson's essay and Krakauer's
book shows how on is shaped by the honesty of nature. Emerson and McCandless' story are similar.
They both feel like nature is a pure thing. Comparing the two, when McCandless is living off the
land and how both feel like one should use the land to its full potential. Also, the two excerpts are
similar for both explain that nature is something that is truly aesthetic. As both stories set out to
prove how one can overlook how extraordinary nature is. It wasn't until McCandless set out into the
wild that he candidly appreciated the outdoors. "Nature" and Into the Wild both state that adults
don't see nature in full. McCandless and Emerson realize that there is copious more to nature as one
grows older, but it's rarely recognized. As McCandless takes his adventure into the wild, he realizes
how superlative it is and how one

Oceanside Relaxation Academy: A Short Story
Shopping malls, fast food restaurants, and at least ten different Starbucks, in a fifteen–mile radius,

Baldwin Hill Academy, which is in West Hollywood. The car jerks to a stop as Danielle pulls into
the Academy's parking lot and finds a parking spot. "Mani–pedi?" She looks at me and grins. "Sure."
I shrug my shoulders, it beats crying alone in my dorm. The inside of Oceanside Relaxation
Academy is calming, peaceful and inviting. A fake waterfall is plastered to the wall adding to the
soothing lull. The walls are a pale–yellow with low–lit hanging lights, and big gray beanbag chairs
are scattered throughout the lobby. Danielle walks up to the front desk and makes a reservation. ...

A – Continue current coastal management strategies in terms of the beach nourishment program.
The beach nourishment process is sand being dredged from one location (in terms of palm beach

A Small, Quaint Beach
A small, quaint beach is located in Texas, and is known by the name of Galveston. It has a very
vivid and interesting backstory, more so than cities twenty times its size. Galveston Beach was
originally home to Akokisa and Karankawa Native Americans during 1528. Robert Cavelier La
Salle, a French explorer, claimed the land for King Louis, naming it St. Louis in the late 1600s.
Later, in 1786, Galveston was named for Bernardo de Galvez; he was a Spanish general and
governor of colonies, and he sent explorers to chart the land (from the Gulf of Mexico of the Texan
coast to New Orleans but Galvez died before he ever set foot on his island. However, the first settler

Long shore currents continuously transport sand south along the coast. Harsh winter weather pulls
sand from dunes and upper beaches, depositing it onto offshore sand bars and reducing beach width,
while gentler wave action during milder summer weather acts to restore the shoreline (NOAA,
2013.) The structure of barrier islands is determined by the movement of sand in the littoral zone,
which is the land–facing side of the island. In August of the year 1933, a hurricane created an inlet
south of Ocean City, Maryland. The inlet separated the island from Maryland (U.S. National Parks
Service, 2012.) After the hurricane, a permanent system of artificial jetties was built for navigation
purposes, and has drifted westward considerably from the original landmass; without the jettisons, it
would have silted back because of longshore drift which is a geographical process that consists of
the transportation of sediments, such as clay, silt, sand, and shingle along a coast at an angle to the
shoreline, which depends on prevailing wind direction, amongst other factors, This process occurs in
the littoral zone, and is on in or close to the surf zone. The artificial jettisons has created wider
beaches and better fishing access, but also has caused erosion problems on Assateague Island. As an
added note, Assateague island is well known for their white sand

Durable When you consider that the oldest structures standing throughout the world today are made
of earth, to say that Earth Blocks are durable seems an understatement. Fire and Pest Resistant Earth
Blocks are fire, bullet, sound and bug resistant to the point of being considered "proofed". Using
Earth Blocks increases your comfort and your enjoyment of your home. Virtually Soundproof Earth
Blocks are so dense a building material that, if they wish, occupants can be effectively "shut off"
from the outside world. Earth block buildings create their own world on the inside which most
people find is an added attraction. Aesthetically Pleasing The use of Earth Blocks as the primary
building material provides an opportunity to explore an endless number of creative architectural
designs. The natural colors of the earth can be used to enhance the warmth of the living
environment. Exteriors are typically given a weather–resistant skin which can be colored or left
natural, while interiors can be plastered with a variety of decorative mixtures or left exposed. Arches
and rounded corners are options that allow for additional flexibility in design. Earth Block buildings
have a look and feel which envelops their occupants and blends beautifully with the natural world.

relaxing and soaking up the sun to almost being in the middle of a beach brawl, the craziness of
ocean city never seems to end.
After traveling for 3–hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After
making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the
morning. After good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting
on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the
creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located underneath the
house. I decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the foldable beach
chairs, after grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weather stairs and towards sand dunes.
As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean's waves started
to become closer and closer. As we traveled closer the vivid orange sun began to ascend from the
deep sea. At this early point in the morning, the sand walkway surrounded by dunes hadn't heated up
from the sun, so it had a nice cold feeling of the sand between each toe. Upon reaching the shore, we
noticed that not many beachgoers had set up their chairs or umbrellas. We took this opportunity

Bronte section
The cutting at Bronte is a section of rock face which made of a sendimetary layer known as
Hawkesbury Sandstone. The sandstone is formed by grains of sand being compressed by the
pressure of the surface above where it lies. Over time, the pressure results in the grains of sand being
fused together to form a sandstone. Our group start from chainage 250 to 260. These section can be
roughly divided into 4 section which are list below.
Section 1,250–252.5 chainage
The main features for section1
There are 3 joints located in the left corner of section one, which numbered 1 to 3 and with the dip
angle of 70–90, however, it towards different direction, the first one towards 151 SE, the second one
is 325 NW, the last one is 96 E. These 3 joints are parallel to each other and vertical to road surface,
all fill in with sand and gray. These vertical joints mainly terminated into rock substance on one side
and continued to the ground on the other side. This suggested that there is a large possibility that the

this section. The bedding plane continued to the other section, with the dip angle of 82, towards 80

Human Development : Causes And Consequences Of Human...
Causes and Extent of Change
¬¬Climate change has caused dramatic changes in landforms around the world, and beaches have
received much of the worst consequences from this. Alongside this, human development has kept on
expanding, especially into previously "pristine" environments, thus removing "access" to a great
deal of the sand that was in the area. Human expansion has also resulted in the introduction of exotic
or invasive species of flora, that may have impacted the native vegetation that existed on the
beachfront, and as a result, changed the structure of the pre–existing sand. This is generally due to
the exotic species impacting the food web, and spreading very quickly, likely due to having many
seedlings or having few predators in the new environment.
In Collaroy Beach, the increase in human development has resulted in various consequences, the
most prominent being the reduction in the size of the sand dune system, which has occurred to a
large extent in the beach, evident by the clear lack of a hind dune. The same has occurred in
Lauderdale beach, and to a similar extent as Collaroy. However, as Lauderdale receives far more
storms than Collaroy, and thus is more likely to need the "sand bank" stored up, it can be argued that
the consequences of human development occurred to a larger extent at Lauderdale beach. On the
other hand, with the increasing effects of climate change, the difference in amount and effect of
storms may become less relevant, as more storms will

Chowchilla Subbasin Case Study
Based on the results from both cases, an excel tool was used to review results and generate head
level maps in layer 6th only for 21 critical subbasins in color ranges (see figure 4 and figure 5).
Based on the results of the horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivity data in layer 6th, I
manipulated the range and average of horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivities for both cases.
With assuming the thickness of layer 6th approximately 100 feet, I also calculated the transmissivity
for Chowchilla subbasin (see the results above). The hydraulic conductivity is greater than the
vertical conductivity for this subbasin. This indicates that the groundwater movement in this
subbasin flows in horizontal direction greater than vertical direction.
In layer 6th for this subbasin, both the horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivities are in large
ranges with large values of standard deviations indicating the geologic information of layer 6th in
Chowchilla subbasin is not uniform. This shows that are more different soil types in this layer. From
the results, the hydraulic conductivities (K1) are in the range from 690 to 0.05 (m/day). According

and 0.0252–0.302 g kg–1, respectively. Total concentrations of As and Cd in control and spiked soil
after one–year aging were listed in Table S1 (Appendix 2). The difference between the spiked
concentrations and measured ones may be due to the particle size (spiked soils were sieved to < 250
μm particle size was used for all measurements.
2.3.3 Relationships between the bioaccessibility, total concentrations and selected soil properties
Strong linear relationships between bioaccessible As/Cd (both gastric and intestinal phases) and total
As/Cd in soils were observed with R2 varying between 0.72 and 0.98 (Figure 2.1). Therefore, within
the spiked concentrations of As and Cd in this study, the soluble As and Cd during UBM extraction
increased proportionally along with total concentrations in soils. Relations in gastric phase was
stronger than that in intestinal phase probably due to the high solubility of both As and Cd in the
gastric phase. These

Palm Beach Research Paper

  • 1. Palm Beach Research Paper 5 Underrated Things to Do in Palm Beach Palm Beach in Aruba is the best kept secret among those who have ventured to this fabulous Caribbean island. Located in the northern part of Aruba, there are a great many things to do here. The following are five of the most overlooked activities that can be done while spending time near this beach. Swimming and snorkeling This is clearly an underrated activity on Palm Beach. The water is very calm and ready made for those who want to swim without worrying about a wave or strong currents. For this same reason, it is easy to move on top of the water and enjoy the view under the water. In addition, there are few water activities close to the shore. Water sports are done farther away, so you never have to be concerned about others. For that matter, much of the this two mile stretch of beach is not crowded at most times of the year. Peaceful reflection Unlike similar resorts and vacation spots in the Caribbean, including other places on this island, it is Palm Beach that has little of the noise and crowds that many vacationers have grown accustomed to. Here at Palm Beach, a person can relax and empty his or her mind of all of the distractions and stress of modern life. There is no better place to see a sunset, and for many visitors, it is the first real sunset they have ever experienced. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One water activity that can be found here is banana boating. If you are not familiar with this, you may find it a lot of fun. Also called water sledding, it is done with three to 10 people who straddle an inflatable device that is shaped something like a banana. In fact, there are models that are made to look just like a banana. This raft is then pulled by a motor boat, and all you need to do is hold on. Tubing can also be found here as well. These towable water tubes can be used by one or two people, and are just as much fun as the banana ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Descriptive Essay About Marco Island When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every direction. During the frigid and dreary months of Missouri's winter, there is one place in particular that my heart longs to be. Marco Island, Florida. When most people think of a luxurious vacation, they imagine crystal clear water, snowy white sands, and a miraculous five star hotel. Marco Island is no Bora Bora, but to me it's the most enchanting small town that values simplicity and offers pure bliss to anyone coming to visit. My father proposed the idea of vacationing on Marco Island before the summer of 2016 after hearing multiple people rave to him about the breathtaking beaches and unforgettable experiences. My mother and I had never heard of Marco Island, but after five short minutes of browsing through images online of the picturesque island, we were instantly captivated and could not wait to see it for ourselves. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for our trip to commence, we finally arrived on the dreamy island. Rather than staying at a hotel, we rented a beach house that was supposedly only a six minute walk from Marco Island Beach. While pulling up to the magnificent home, I was holding back tears of joy. The pale grayish–blue house looked like it had jumped right out of a framed photograph hanging up in the waiting room of a doctor's office. Among it's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Is My Personal Experience Essay Everyone has been through a personal experience, whether it has changed their lives for better or worse. These experiences can be eclectic events such as going out to explore the world or even devastating events such as tragic accidents. My personal experience occurred a year ago during the summer when I took a trip to visit San Francisco, California with my family. This trip to San Francisco was a thrilling adventure due to the city being very beautiful and breathtaking. During my visit to the city I was able to take part in the beaches, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Six Flags. To begin with, the beaches near San Francisco are stunning. California has nice weather during the summer to attend beaches because it is not too hot or chilly outside. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My family and I were able to cross the famous bridge a few times in the car as we traveled a bit around California. The view from the bridge was beautiful during the day and as well at night. It was nice during the day to see the sun sparkling on the water as boats sailed by, but appealing during nightfall because of the bright lights on the bridge. Also, the city lights around it brought out the overall awe of the bridge. During one of our passing on the bridge, we were able to make a quick stop at the top of the hill and take a few family pictures together with the bridge. My brother would tease me every time anyone brings up our visit to the Golden Gate Bridge because I was afraid to stand near the edge of the mountain to take our family photos since I imagined I was going to slip and fall. Furthermore, as we traveled through the bridge I had noticed telephone posts on either side of the bridge. These telephones were for the suicidal people who thought it was time to end their lives. The telephones were used to connect those who were suicidal to a counselor to help talk them out of committing such a tragedy. They may have helped saved plenty lives. It has been known by many that the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the many bridges that countless of people tend to go to in order to attempt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Descriptive Essay "Brrr." I shivered when I stepped into the shallow water. After 30 seconds, though, I adjusted. "C'mon Tessa!" my brother Zen, called out as he raced by. "Okay!" I replied as I splashed after him. I was at the beach with my family. I had never been to a beach before, so it was a lot of fun, even though it was only at Lake Michigan in Chicago. As we ran my dad followed us into the water. "Hey, Zen, can you do this?" I asked as I waddled like a duck, " Quack, quack, HONK!!!" "That's easy," he responded as he started imitating the way I was walking, "Can you do this?" Now he was crawling like a crab. "THAT's easy!" I retorted as my waddle turned to a crab crawl. "We'll take turns." I suggested. "OK." Zen shrugged. He walked over to a pre–built sand castle and started digging out hole?! "Whatchya doin'?" I asked. "I'm going to bury myself in the sand." He replied frankly. "Okay!" I said cheerfully as I started scooping up wet sand. I made sure to get plenty sand nice and packed. I started shaping the sand into a tower. I could feel the sun beating on my back, my hair whipping around in the wind. I could hear the waves crawling up to the shore. It was the perfect summer– "Tessa, can you help me?" Zen interrupted. He had sand up to his knees. "No, I'm busy making my own sand structure." I responded. I went back to building my tower. My hands were caked with sand. I brushed my hair out of my face with my arm. I got up up and walked to the water. My hands dipped into the sun–heated water. I pulled back my hair and plunged the bucket into the lake water. When it submerged the sand washed away and it was filled with water. I skipped back, trying not to spill the water, sand spraying with every step. I plopped onto the ground. I poured the water over the top, creating a bowl shaped tower. I shook my hair back over my shoulders again. I thought back to the only other "beach" I've ever been to. • 11. Robert Frost Essay "Good fences makes good neighbors," is a small portion from the Mending Wall written by one of modern times most proficient writers, Robert Frost. Two of the critical articles I examined were quite helpful in gaining a better understanding of the "Mending Wall" and also of Robert Frost's poetry. The Gale Research shows the best and most effective understanding of the "Mending Wall," mainly because it deals specifically with that poem. It basically states that the poem is built around two attitudes, that of the speaker, which the Gale critic presumes is the poet, who is imaginative and an independent thinker and that of the neighbor, who prefers not to question anything (Gale). The other article deals more with other poetry that Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Gale Research article continues by saying the wall bothers the poet, believing it to be unnecessary. The article goes on by elaborating the poet's feelings saying the wall divides the speakers apple trees from the neighbors pine trees. The conclusion I receive when I read this portion of the article is the poet feels that the wall is binding the relationship between the two men and without it would increase their friendship, while the neighbor likes to keep his thoughts t himself allowing privacy to exist. My own belief sway more towards that of the neighbor, privacy allows for good neighbors, hence the statement "Good fences make good neighbors," which is expressed in the poem. In the book "Critical Reception," the author, Linda W. Wagner, writes several articles of her opinion on some of Robert Frost's work. I found "Critical Reception" very helpful in understanding "Mending Wall" because it gave me an insight on Frost's style and similar themes in his poetry. I concluded that Robert Frost, in some of his works including "Mending Wall," was a poet fascinated by the mind and by very earthly objects; dealing with how people felt about life in conjunction with the environment. For example, in the poem "Sand Dunes," Frost describes the sea and a woman, who in actuality is the sand dune. He transforms the sand dune into a person by referring to the dune as a she (Wagner 72). Some of Frost's works share this theme of making nature into a person, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clearwater Beach, in Florida and Varadero Beach, in Cuba allows one to experience all this explosion of sensations and beyond. For example, Clearwater Beach and Varadero Beach provide the vacationists the chance to practice diving, fishing, shelling, sailing, admire wildlife and snorkeling. Additionally, both beaches offer hotels and warm waters that invite to all who visit them to fall in love with astonishing sunsets. Nevertheless, there are other aspects that make these two similar beaches different from each other. To begin with, the water in Varadero Beach is of a crystal light blue. A transparent and clear water that, on the cloudiest day, allows the visitor to spot the rich marine wildlife. Starfish are visible from the surface, even when it is as deep as under six feet of water. The jaibas, a kind of sea crab that is very common in this area, can also be admired running on the seabed, looking for its next meal. The colorful fish that are endemic from this submarine landscape provide a multicolor picture that is enhanced by the sunlight making in its way down; a phenomenon ... These memories consist of walking a dark forest trail in the middle of the night, black bags hanging from the hands of all the young children with hopes of catching the mysterious snipe that had been roaming the woods, gathering around warm fires on cool nights with people you barely know and hearing out their past adventures, hoping to one day to take their place with adventurous of my own, getting poison ivy rashes from roaming too far off the trail, scraping up my elbows and knees tumbling over and through rough trails, and getting a fishing hook to wedge itself deeply into my palm. I accepted his challenge to learn and quickly began trying to ride and quickly began realizing it might take a while before could. The next few hours were filled with steps to improve my balance and comfort until I was riding up and down small hills comfortably with decent control of the board. Then Tanner decided that I was ready for a real hill, I was hesitant at first but he convinced me and I soon found myself looking down a hill and questioning what I had done to put myself if this position. Before I really had time to think about it I was going. I gained speed quickly, I could see the sun glisten off the water and feel the breeze steadily pick up. It was great. Then I fell. I could feel my feet hitting the ground one after another but soon my feet were behind me and I was landing on my side on the concrete road. By the time Tanner made his way back up the road I was ... • 17. Forbidden Love : A Creative Story : Forbidden Love Forbidden Love Medusa stood on the bank of the water and stuck her toes in. The water was slightly above room temperature, making today the perfect beach day. If she looked far enough into the water, she could make out a small sailboat on the brink of the horizon. The sky appeared dipped in pastels of yellow, blue, and pink. The melted colors networked together and created a beautiful sunset. In the midst of this vast world, Medusa felt small despite her stature as she stood at the edge of the water. With this secret beach unpopulated, she took her shirt off and exposed her shoulders to the world. From behind, Poseidon took his hands and placed them on her hips and gently kissed her neck. Medusa broke her train of thought off to pull out her phone and check the time. 6:40 p.m. This would be their last day together until the end of the summer most likely, as it would be much harder to sneak away with Athena watching their every move. Poseidon pulled his phone out too and held it to the right side so that they could snap some cute pictures together. One of them kissing, lying on the beach, sitting on this rock. Medusa loved making memories with him, letting him baby her and treat her like a goddess. Poseidon caught her staring into his eyes and giggled. When they were together, it was like they were both caught in a time warp. 8:02 pm. The beach was cold and dark, the wind now whipping over the sand and the edge of the rocks. The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana, falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we landed we were greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the atmosphere, coconut smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination. Essay On Gap Wedge Goal: Review post Total word count in this document: 1011 Title: Best gap wedge With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because the 5–degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10 degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a new club to fill the "gap", and of course, encourage us to buy more products. Recommended Products New Cobra S2 Max Gap Wedge RH w/ R–Flex Graphite Shaft: The Cobra S2 Max Gap Wedge has a regular shaft flex and is made with graphite. You don't have to swing much differently when using this wedge from the others. The graphite shaft is a bit lighter, so you need to shorten your backswing on pitch shots and focus on hitting through the ball on both pitches and chips. If you answered a high, soft shot within about 60 yards of the green I think you'd be right. Most mid to high handicap players want to know how to master the lob wedge. From time to time you'll be faced with shots that require high carries over bunkers or water hazards to tight pin positions. You could certainly hit those shots with an open faced sand wedge, but a lob wedge makes it much easier. Lob wedges are used most commonly when players need very high trajectories and a lot of spin. • 29. Descriptive Essay On The Beach It is summer break, in the middle of July, my junior year. The salty, floating breeze on San Diego's coast is enough to make my senses kick into overdrive with unmeasurable excitement. I examine the clear, baby blue sky and realize the perfection of life and mother nature itself. In the distance, rolling clear–blue waves crashed into one another with such force as that of god's fighting for the fate of the Universe. I squint into the distance of the progressing whitecaps and I come upon a floating yacht with a dozen partying teenagers aboard the ship. Focusing my attention to the beach, I observe middle–aged adults resting on beach towels, kids making sandcastles or frolicking within the ocean, and young couples holding hands while walking along the shoreline. I shut my eyes and absorb all of my surroundings and run my fingers slowly and carefreely through my freshly cut blonde hair as I absorb the smell of the salty, evening air that tingles my nostrils. I feel like a larid, drifting endlessly within the wind without a care in the world, comforted by the resonance of the rolling waves, distant voices, and laughter of individuals nearby. "Can we go into the ocean," a young boy asks. "It's so hot out!" an elderly woman yells. • 31. A Beautiful Day : It Was A Beautiful Day It was a beautiful day. The wind blew my hair across my face as I sat down on a hay stool watching over my 3 year old brother Michael. He was playing on the soft sand outside the old, ratty hut that we live in day and night. Mama was out to Belen's Bay, a small bay close by to fetch some freshwater. The story of Belen's Bay was there was a village not far from here with a young woman named Belen who saved the village by building a bridge across the lake to save everyone from the hurricane. After that point, the village dedicated the bay after the great hero, Belen. I want my character to be strong, brave, and courageous just like Belen. As we walked to the hut bright lightning struck the ground that was previously beneath our feet. Cold rain started pouring everywhere and wind was almost pushing us from side to side. "We must find shelter and resources quickly!, my mother exclaimed. "Let's head to the bay and see if there is food or water available", Riviera said. It was one great adventure as we shielded ourselves from the rain and ran to the old store near the bay. We rushed inside and placed ourselves near the flaming orange fire. Nobody seemed to be inside of the small store, so we decided to stay until the end of this massive, bold hurricane. As soon as it had started it had ended, the coldness of the air was replaced by the warmth of the sun. We walked outside and headed back on the trail to our old, comfy hut. • 35. Argumentative Essay On Beach Erosion Every year millions of dollars of state and federal dollars are spent to essentially place tons of sand on America's beaches. This process known as beach nourishment. Proponents often point to this method as effective way is a way to fight against beach erosion The causes of this erosion are both manmade and natural, but regardless of the cause this process is only a stop gap that does not actually address this issue. Instead, both the federal and state governments have spent billions of dollars over the last few decades to fight the process of erosion with unintended consequences for both the environment and citizens. In New Jersey alone state, local and federal agencies have spent 1.2 billion dollars over the last thirty years to dump 120 million cubic yards of sand over the state's coastline. This high price tag is in part due to the fact that the sand that is placed on the coastline quickly erodes and a new project must be undertaken. In fact, sand used to nourish beaches erodes at a rate that is often two to three times faster than natural sand. This creates a cycle in which beaches are constantly needing to be renourished and does nothing to actually prevent the process of erosion. ... The moist, dark sand kept falling apart though, I gave up. With the bow in my hair and swimsuit full of sand, I ran over to my Dad. "Daddy, my sand castle keeps falling down. Can you help me?" My Dad, with a broad smile on his face, scooped me into his big, loving arms. He walked over with me in his arms to a smooth spot of sand, and together we built a fascinating sand castle. When we were finished, he took my tiny, sandy hand in his, and my thick little fingers clung to his large firm hand. I looked up to his smiling face with large, hopeful eyes and said, "I love you, Daddy." "I love you very much, my little princess." It was then the giant majestic waves tugged at my tiny feet like a rope tugging me into itself. His protective hand held mine even tighter as I tried to pull away. I wanted to go play in the playful waves. "Daddy, I want to play in the ocean." "Okay, but I'll come with you to make sure the waves don't pull you away." "No, Daddy. I want to go in by myself." And with that independent statement, I ran into the waves, which welcomed me with full force. They filled my senses with a sharp, salty smell, the foam blinded my eyes, and my energetic little body and pink bow was swallowed by the fast–flowing water. Long shore currents continuously transport sand south along the coast. Harsh winter weather pulls sand from dunes and upper beaches, depositing it onto offshore sand bars and reducing beach width, while gentler wave action during milder summer weather acts to restore the shoreline (NOAA, 2013.) The structure of barrier islands is determined by the movement of sand in the littoral zone, which is the land–facing side of the island. In August of the year 1933, a hurricane created an inlet south of Ocean City, Maryland. The inlet separated the island from Maryland (U.S. National Parks Service, 2012.) After the hurricane, a permanent system of artificial jetties was built for navigation purposes, and has drifted westward considerably from the original landmass; without the jettisons, it would have silted back because of longshore drift which is a geographical process that consists of the transportation of sediments, such as clay, silt, sand, and shingle along a coast at an angle to the shoreline, which depends on prevailing wind direction, amongst other factors, This process occurs in the littoral zone, and is on in or close to the surf zone. • 64. Descriptive Essay On The Ocean City If you ever find yourself in ocean city maryland, you may be overwhelmed on the beach. The time of day you are the beach changes the entire experience itself due to the increase of people. From relaxing and soaking up the sun to almost being in the middle of a beach brawl, the craziness of ocean city never seems to end. After traveling for 3–hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the morning. After good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located underneath the house. I decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the foldable beach chairs, after grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weather stairs and towards sand dunes. As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean's waves started to become closer and closer. As we traveled closer the vivid orange sun began to ascend from the deep sea. At this early point in the morning, the sand walkway surrounded by dunes hadn't heated up from the sun, so it had a nice cold feeling of the sand between each toe. Upon reaching the shore, we noticed that not many beachgoers had set up their chairs or umbrellas. We took this opportunity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Geology of the Sydney Region Bronte section The cutting at Bronte is a section of rock face which made of a sendimetary layer known as Hawkesbury Sandstone. The sandstone is formed by grains of sand being compressed by the pressure of the surface above where it lies. Over time, the pressure results in the grains of sand being fused together to form a sandstone. Our group start from chainage 250 to 260. These section can be roughly divided into 4 section which are list below. Section 1,250–252.5 chainage The main features for section1 There are 3 joints located in the left corner of section one, which numbered 1 to 3 and with the dip angle of 70–90, however, it towards different direction, the first one towards 151 SE, the second one is 325 NW, the last one is 96 E. These 3 joints are parallel to each other and vertical to road surface, all fill in with sand and gray. These vertical joints mainly terminated into rock substance on one side and continued to the ground on the other side. This suggested that there is a large possibility that the defect continues to the underlying rocks. In addition, there is a continuous bedding planes within this section. The bedding plane continued to the other section, with the dip angle of 82, towards 80 E, fill with sand and the length is undefined. Some vegetation can be found at top of section. Section 2, 252.5–255 chainage The main features for section2 This section start from joints 4 to 8. For joints 4,6,7,8, they are with the dip of angle of 75–90, and ... • 70. Human Development : Causes And Consequences Of Human... Causes and Extent of Change ¬¬Climate change has caused dramatic changes in landforms around the world, and beaches have received much of the worst consequences from this. Alongside this, human development has kept on expanding, especially into previously "pristine" environments, thus removing "access" to a great deal of the sand that was in the area. Human expansion has also resulted in the introduction of exotic or invasive species of flora, that may have impacted the native vegetation that existed on the beachfront, and as a result, changed the structure of the pre–existing sand. This is generally due to the exotic species impacting the food web, and spreading very quickly, likely due to having many seedlings or having few predators in the new environment. In Collaroy Beach, the increase in human development has resulted in various consequences, the most prominent being the reduction in the size of the sand dune system, which has occurred to a large extent in the beach, evident by the clear lack of a hind dune. The same has occurred in Lauderdale beach, and to a similar extent as Collaroy. However, as Lauderdale receives far more storms than Collaroy, and thus is more likely to need the "sand bank" stored up, it can be argued that the consequences of human development occurred to a larger extent at Lauderdale beach. On the other hand, with the increasing effects of climate change, the difference in amount and effect of storms may become less relevant, as more storms will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Newhaven Beaches Research Paper Investigate process and/ or landform(s) along a stretch of a coast Hypothesis 'The transport of sediment affects the morphology of Newhaven beach and Castlehead cliff' This investigation will be exploring whether the movement of pebbles, shingle, shells and other materials found on the beach have impacted on the shape and structure of Newhaven beach and Castlehead Cliff. One of the key processes this investigation will focus on is that of long shore drift caused by strong prevailing winds, prevailing wind is the direction from which the wind usually blows. Cliffs are made from mainly two materials, chalk which is at the bottom and sand and clay at the top. If cliffs are facing the direction of prevailing wind it may lead in high rates of cliff ... By using a clinometer it is securing a valid angle to create an accurate beach profile, using a tape measure with units such as cm and mm establishes more precise data. Constructing a beach profile determines how the size of the beach changes. By repeating the investigation it allows results to be as precise and reliable as possible. This ultimately helps me to either prove or disprove my hypothesis. Beach sediment size Beach sediment classification card 1)From each ranging pole A–B, observe the sediment from the distance stretched 2)On the IPad, on the adobe reader app open the document called 'Beach sediment classification card' 3)from this card compare the area of sediment onto the beach to the card 4)repeat steps 1–3 until the top of the beach is reached By identifying the sediment size at each station allows the amount of long shore drift happening at each stage of the beach to be assessed and evaluated. If the size of the rocks decrease in size closer to the harbour arm, it will help prove my hypothesis Cliff profile Skitch app on iPad 1)Take a picture of the Castlehead cliff using the skitch app on the IPad at the top of the beach, further away from the sea. • 74. Chowchilla Subbasin Case Study Based on the results from both cases, an excel tool was used to review results and generate head level maps in layer 6th only for 21 critical subbasins in color ranges (see figure 4 and figure 5). Based on the results of the horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivity data in layer 6th, I manipulated the range and average of horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivities for both cases. With assuming the thickness of layer 6th approximately 100 feet, I also calculated the transmissivity for Chowchilla subbasin (see the results above). The hydraulic conductivity is greater than the vertical conductivity for this subbasin. This indicates that the groundwater movement in this subbasin flows in horizontal direction greater than vertical direction. In layer 6th for this subbasin, both the horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivities are in large ranges with large values of standard deviations indicating the geologic information of layer 6th in Chowchilla subbasin is not uniform. This shows that are more different soil types in this layer. From the results, the hydraulic conductivities (K1) are in the range from 690 to 0.05 (m/day). According to the third edition of the "Groundwater Hydrology" , David Todd and Larry Mays, page 93, Table 3.2.1, soil types in layer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, any changes of the amount of nounrouted delivery to Chowchilla farm, it doesn't impact the precipitation. However, in both cases, there is significant difference between the precipitation and the total final surface water. This significant difference is caused by impacts of evaporation, infiltration, overland flow, stream flow, and ground water flow in Chowchilla farm. Based on the results, the amount of precipitation in 1969 is about 300,000 ac–ft, and the amount of the final surface water is about 5,000 ac–ft, therefore the loss in this subbasin is about 295,000 ... • 76. Questions On Properties Of Soils 2.3 Results and discussion 2.3.1 Physicochemical properties of soils Soil properties are shown in Table 2.1. These soils had a loamy texture with different contents of clay, sand and silt. pH values ranged from 4.45 to 7.73. TC was in the range of 1.6 to 8.37 % without significant amounts of TN and TS detected. TOC varied between 1.48 and 8.37% whilst DOC showed a wide range from 106 to 400 mg kg–1. CEC values ranged from 2.9 to 17.9 cmol kg– 1. Concentrations of Fe oxide, Al oxide, and Mn oxide were 0.28–12.49 g kg–1, 0.5–12.6 g kg–1 and 0.0252–0.302 g kg–1, respectively. Total concentrations of As and Cd in control and spiked soil after one–year aging were listed in Table S1 (Appendix 2). The difference between the spiked concentrations and measured ones may be due to the particle size (spiked soils were sieved to < 250 μm particle size was used for all measurements. 2.3.3 Relationships between the bioaccessibility, total concentrations and selected soil properties Strong linear relationships between bioaccessible As/Cd (both gastric and intestinal phases) and total As/Cd in soils were observed with R2 varying between 0.72 and 0.98 (Figure 2.1). Therefore, within the spiked concentrations of As and Cd in this study, the soluble As and Cd during UBM extraction increased proportionally along with total concentrations in soils. Relations in gastric phase was stronger than that in intestinal phase probably due to the high solubility of both As and Cd in the gastric phase. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The food web of Numbinbah Valley ( see appendix 5) and Hastings Point ( see appendix 6) shows that the relationship between phytoplankton and detritus, microorganisms and other decaying matter (producers) have a mutualistic relationship, which is a symbiotic relationship in which both individuals benefit from the association. The food webs of Numbinbah and Hastings Point visualized a common mutualistic relationship that detritus and microorganisms are eaten mainly from primary consumers such as mollusucs (The primary consumers pink barnacle, common limpet, sea stars, chiton and blue periwinkle) and insects (flies, moths and ants). The connection between the mosquito and the detritus in the Numbinbah Food Web, can be also classified as parasitism which is where one organism benefits at the expense of another organism. Mosquitos feed on the blood of the organism and may cause diseases such as malaria towards the host. Another connection between the two webs is birds are the tertiary consumer in both environments where the tertiary consumers feed on the secondary consumer. The webs of Hastings Point and Numbinbah Valley describe the consistent relationships of producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers and decomposers.
