Relevant Research Experience:
2. 1) Project Assistant at Institute ofNuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (I.N.M.A.S), D.R.D.O
New Delhi:
BriefWork Summary: I was working as a Trainee Project Assistant under Dr. Sudeep Ranjan Nayak
(Scientist-B) in the Radiation Biology Laboratory at I.N.M.A.S New Delhi. My role there was to
evaluate day to day laboratory activities and also to work in a close corner with the Scientists & the
Research Scholars in different ongoing Laboratory experiments.
Duration: July 2012 to May 2013.
2) Junior Research Fellow(J.R.F) at Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory,Deptt. ofLife Science
& Bioinformatis, Assam University, Silchar:
BriefWork Summary: I was appointed as a J.R.F at Assam University, Silchar for a DBT twinning
project entitled“Characterization of tight junction proteins and use of phytochemicals towards
restoration of tight junctional complex disruption as a possible treatment against cancer”under
Principal Investigator Dr. Sarbani Giri. As a J.R.F, I did extensive field work by collecting the
cancer samples from Silchar Medical College and Hospital (S.M.C.H) for further RNA extraction
and RT-PCR analysis. There I worked with Flow Cytometer, Western blotting, Histopathological
analysis on the tisue samples. Assesement of DNA damage in the peripheral blood samples of cancer
patients with the help of COMET assay. BuccalCytome assay for the detection of nuclear anomalies
like Micronuclei, Binucleated cells were also evaluated.
Duration: 09-09-2013 to 09-09-2014.
3) Dissertation Work: I have done my M.Sc Dissertation work from Institute of Nuclear Medicine &
Allied Sciences (I.N.M.A.S),Delhi under Dr. Sudeep Ranjan Nayak (Scientist-B), of Radiation
Biology Laboratory. The title of my Dissertation Thesis was “Implication of Drug IBG-15 on
Radiation Induced Conditioned Taste Aversion (CTA) & Evaluation of Bio-Activity Relevant to
Radiation Protection.” As a trainee,I was actively involved in performing different laboratory
experiments to evaluate the efficacy of the drug IBG-15 as a novel Radio protector. Some of the
important parameters evaluated in the process were- routine Biochemical estimation to see the effect
of the drug on different cellular antioxidant enzymes, drug effect on the extent of amelioration of
radiation induced neurobehavioral changes in the laboratory animal which was examined by
Conditioned Taste Aversion (C.T.A) experiment, western blotting and PCR analysis of the changes
exerted by Ionizing Radiation both in protein and DNA level etc.
Duration: February 2012 to July 2013.
