2. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by naming
our film “Interrogation.”The title of out film applies to the thriller
genre because the title “interrogation” means the action of
interrogating or the process of being interrogated. This may include
violent actions to get information out of a person. The title is bold and
white so it stands out from the background and also the title will be
easily remembered because it’s one workThe title applies Another
film title that relates to the storyline of the film is “Se7en”.The title
means the 7 deadly sins as is a way to kill people.
3. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by using
an isolated area for our location. The location suits with the thriller
genre because the audience would expect that there are illegal
activities that is going to occur. This is similar to “Lock, Stock andTwo
Smoking Barrels” because the film starts off in a rundown and
isolated area.
4. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by using
the idea of semiotics. The detective wears formal clothing to show his
author and profession. It is similar to James Bond where he mostly
wears a suit. This represents the power of the character and the
dominance of him throughout the film.
5. In this scene we used a low angle shot to show the power of the gang
leaders. Also we used point of view shot so that the audience could
put themselves in the place of the victim. The shot from “Marathon
Man” is similar to our shot because the audience are being placed on
the victims situation.
6. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by using a
jump cut which gives an effect of confusion during the change of
scenes and it makes it all sudden.
7. The opening scene starts off with the phone ringing. This links to
Barthes’ enigma code because the audience doesn’t know who the
caller is and they have to guess what is happening in the scene. Later
on the opening sequence the audience can tell what is happening and
know what the call was all about.
8. We use bold fonts to make the titles stand and also the colour is white
so it stand out more from the background. We used typewriter and
fade out transitions.
9. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by
showing the first character wearing a suit. This demonstrate a little
bit on what he does for a living. The formal clothing shows his
dominance and power in the scene and also the body language show
his masculinity.
10. My group used the codes and conventions of thriller genre by using
black and white filters. This creates a mysterious atmosphere because
certain areas aren't visible so this means that visibility is limited. This
is similar to the opening scene of “Casino Royal” where it started
black and white.
