Careers Genius is a proposed mobile app that would simplify searching for jobs, colleges, and universities in the UK. The app would use simple filters and sliders to refine searches. It would focus on college and university searches as its core feature. A premium version of the app could allow direct applications and resume submissions to further education institutions for a fee. The proposal discusses competitors, mockups of the app interface, and an initial marketing strategy through social media and high schools.
2. Who: People seeking further education or jobs,
What: Applying for jobs, universities and colleges ,
When: When students need to apply for further education,
Where: United Kingdom (May expand later),
Why: Students can be overwhelmed by the options and many want to
refine their search for jobs and education.
The Five W’s
3. • Too much choice
• Hard to see what universities and colleges offer
• No simple way of seeing what jobs specifically require
without individually searching
Problem
4. How can we simplify applying for colleges,
Universities and Jobs?
Question
5. We asked a few people who said there is
confusion and it would be easy if they could have
an app that refines searches for universities and
courses.
Key insight statements
6. My team, Korbinian, is developing a mobile app
to help people seeking further education or jobs.
We will simplify there search for jobs, colleges and
universities by using simple filters and sliders.
Mini Elevator Pitch
7. Many students use there phones a lot and they
say an app will make it simpler and they would use
it.
User profiles
8. That already exist in the market
There are many job seeking apps but none that we
know of about which focus on colleges or
Universities.
Competitors or alternative solutions
9. Our Core feature is the university and college
searches. These ideas who have gone down well
with different students
MVP user stories and feature chosen
10. Flow of app & user feedback integrated
We have not used any user feedback, but some of
our group think it is slightly complicated.
11. Key wireframes 1/3
This is the basic layout of the application anything
we create goes off this.
12. Key wireframes 2/3
This is the careers genius home page where you
can get to any where and every where.
13. Key wireframes 3/3
These are the login/sign up, Loading and search screens, I think that because
they look simple and not too abstract makes them work.
14. Feasibility, Data, content and
technical
We have learned how to do app designs on
Balsamiq Mockups. We learned how to do poplets
which is an easy way to show where the pages
take each other.
15. Business Case & Customer pledges
Our app will be free to download and to browse
university and college courses. The customer will
be able to purchase a premium account which
removes adverts and allows people to directly
apply by sending their C.V. via E-Mail to the
university or College. The people who completed
the survey said they were willing to pay for a
premium account.
16. Initially we would start advertising on social
media (Facebook, Twitter e.c.t.) When we
get money we can advertise on the Radio
and put up posters in high schools. As most
of our target market will be in high school
seeking college courses.
Market strategy
17. We have had two teleconferences with entrepreneurs. They said
they liked the idea and they suggested improvements for the app
like having it free and actually charge the companies advertising.

Editor's Notes
What is the background situation you are addressing? Describe the context users are experiencing.Example: BuzzerBuddiez: Who? Students What? Students are studying for exams When? 7am Where? Student dorm Why? Late night cramming, student likely to oversleep
What specific problem do people encounter in that situation? Use the results from your user researchExamples: BuzzerBuddiez: your alarm does not work and you are thus late for: school, work, exams, doctor etc Transit: Many parents don’t speak English and their children have to translate the feedback that a teacher provides. When the feedback is negative students mistranslate. Oyster on the Go: You don’t remember how much money you have left on your pay-as-you-go Oyster card and run out of credit when you urgently need to get on a train Cattle Manager: You need to run backwards and forwards between the office and your cows, taking notes on paper and wasting time or loosing notes
What core question are you addressing with the app? Examples: BuzzerBuddiez: how can you avoid oversleeping? Transit: how can negative teacher feedback be translated accurately? Oyster on the Go: how can you be more aware of how much credit you still have on your Oyster card? Cattle Manager: how can you keep track of injections for your cows while you are out and about looking after them?
To introduce the judges to your team and the product, include your final min elevator pitch here.Example: - Buzzer Buddiez: Our team, [Buzzer Buddiez], is developing [a mobile app] to help [students] [who have studied late and are likely to oversleep because they hit snooze on their alarm clock] [to wake up on time with the help from friends and family]
