Rhetorical Analysis Of Brother Dean
Jackeline Aguilar
Rhetorical Analysis on Brother Dean
Brother Dean is a campus preacher that is talking about controversial topics like rape, feminism, and
gay people. He uses the bible to back up the statements that he makes. Brother Dean walks around
the campus of the University of Arizona wearing shirts with the statements "you whore" and signs
that say "you deserve rape". He is walking around and essentially slut shaming women because he
states that they get raped because they wear revealing clothes. The day that he was being filmed by
Vice was the release of Brave Miss World, a movie about a women named Linor Abargil who was
abducted, stabbed and raped weeks before she won a pageant . He was protesting the release of the
film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does not talk in long speeches about his beliefs because a lot of the students on campus do not
have the time to stop and listen to him. Instead he talks really fast and attempts to persuade people to
believe in his statements as they pass by. His preachings are mostly based on christianity and the
bible. He never uses anything else to back his believes besides the bible. Brother Dean is using the
bible as a weapon to persuade others to join him, proving that he is cultured.
The reason Brother Dean is going on campus and preaching is so that he can get people to convert.
As Nissi Powell, a student on campus said, he is only trying to get people's attention with his
remarks. He is doing it in a wrong way because a lot of people do not respond well when they are
being attacked with words. He could have tried a more effective way to get people to listen to him if
he talked about the religion itself. He could have mentioned what a day in mass was like or passages
from the bible that were positive. Due to his strident approach, he has caused chaos and violence
towards him. People have started to rip his shirt, throw away his signs, and has had a smoothie
thrown at him. His hobby has had a lot a controversy but some women do agree with him like his
friend Sarah. She claims that women put themselves in situations without needing to be there. She
also states that she agrees with everything brother Dean

Racial Identity And Gender Identity
In a recent South Park episode, titles "The Cissy", in order for his own personal gain to use the girls'
bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become
"Erica." Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan's dad) must battle with his
gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a
bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman's and
Randy Marsh's struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through
the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of
the "executive bathroom," and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for
"Cissys'" reveal society's inability to comprehend gender– identity struggles, thus exposing the
uselessness of gender– labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a
bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society's inability to comprehend the
seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a scene of Eric
Cartman contemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says "They've
laughed at me, poked fun at me... They don't know what's in my right pocket but they'll know soon
enough and they'll pay," (The Cissy). This, coupled with the menacing music playing in the
background, further emphasizes the importance of Cartman's

Selena Gomez Research Paper
A lot of famous people have a reputation of being on disney shows or anything kid related then
when they hit 18 they start to change and do things like drugs. For example, Miley Cyrus also
known as Hannah Montana, was a very inspiring person to kids until the show ended and she started
to act out by twerking on live t.v, doing drugs and wearing/saying inappropriate things. But Miley
cyrus isn't the only one that has done this. Even Though, many famous celebs act out because of
fame there are stars who have not. Selena Gomez has been in the spotlight since she was a little kid.
Ever since then she hasn't managed to let fame take over who she is; a successful, loving, humble
person. The first reason why I admire Selena Gomez is because

Cantigny Park Essay
Cantigny Park is an eye opening experience that provides visual aids which give a better
understanding of WWI and its significance to Robert R. McCormick. The McCormick family
altered the grounds of their home to become a public park to show the legacy that the McCormick
family left behind. Robert R. McCormick served in WWI, which had a great impact on his life that
is shown through the grounds of Cantigny Park. He served as the editor and publisher of the
Chicago Tribune for forty–four years, at which he made it a media giant by adding it to television
stations and putting it on the radio. The mansion that the McCormick family occupied is a museum
itself on the grounds, with its extravagance and countless artifacts. While the actual museum on the
grounds takes the public back to the war, where it gives a better understanding of what the war was
really like. The trip itself was very well put together, but could have had some improvements to
make the learning experience even better. The Cantigny Park grounds is a memorable trip due to the
better understanding one can have of WWI and the personal touches added by Robert R.
McCormick himself.
Robert R. McCormick served in the National Guard in 1915 and then in the First Infantry Division
during WWI. The war greatly impacted Mr. McCormick, where he stayed committed to the First
Infantry Division throughout his life as a veteran. He renamed the grounds of his home from being

The Hebrew Exiles In Babylon Essay
The Hebrew Exiles in Babylon
When Jerusalem fell to the conquering Babylonians in 587 BC, most of what was important to the
Hebrew people was gone. They lost their holy city, the Temple was destroyed, and the Davidic
monarchy ended (Beasley 221). Following the destruction of Jerusalem, the Babylonian king,
Nebuchadrezzar, deported most of the population to other cities, including Babylon. These exiles
remained there for about fifty years until the Persian forces, under king Cyrus, took the city of
Babylon in 539 BC. The Persian policies concerning captured and exiled peoples were quite
different than those of the Babylonians, and because of this King Cyrus allowed the exiles to return
to Jerusalem in 538 BC to rebuild the city ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nebuchadrezzar, who had only recently become ruler of the Babylonian Empire in 604 BC, decided
that this "new" Babylon should surpass anything in the fallen Assyrian Empire. Many of the exiles
who were brought to Babylon were craftsmen and artisans (2 Kings 24:14,16), and so could be
profitably employed in the rebuilding and improvement of the capital city. These workmen helped to
make Babylon the most elegant of its day, and its beautiful gardens and architecture surpassed
anything previously from Assyria (Whitely 71–72). It must have been a source of great satisfaction
to some of the Hebrew exiles to know that they were an important part in the reconstruction of
Babylon.
In addition to the more rural occupations, there is also sufficient evidence written in discovered
archives of the time that the Hebrew exiles were involved in the mercantile life in Babylon. Since
many of the great highways of the time converged on Babylon, thus forming it into the center of
commerce in the Near East, it is not surprising to find that some of the exiles became active in
trading and loaning in this "land of traffic" (Whitley 73). The Murashu tablets are a significant
testimony to the commercial activities of the Hebrews in Babylon. These personal business records

What If Apple Is Wrong By Brian Bergstein Analysis
In his article, "What If Apple is Wrong," technology journalist for MIT Brian Bergstein questions
the decisions tech giant Apple made after refusing to give the FBI a backdoor into iPhones' data. In
April of this year, Apple refused the FBI's request to open up the iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook,
who shot and killed 14 people in San Bernadino, California. Bergstein opens by relating the story of
Devon Godfrey, who was shot in 2010. After using security camera footage to wrongly arrest the
suspect on charge of murder, Godfrey's iPhone revealed that the murderer was someone entirely
different. Using this as a springboard for his line of questioning, Bergstein ponders whether the case
would have been solved without access to victim's iPhone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He first points out that since their release, iPhones have replaced a lot of the evidence that was used
in the past, such as cameras and notepads. Logically, this would mean that investigations are more
difficult than they were in the past, because investigators have lost sources of evidence. This also
supports the argument that authorities should have access to iPhones, because everything on them
were accessible in different forms in the past. Bergstein then attempts to strengthen his argument by
using the opinions of other important figures. First, he quotes Cyrus Vance Jr., the District Attorney
in Manhattan, who "thinks the federal government should pass a law that would require the makers
of smartphone operating systems to be able to give data to investigators." Bergstein wants the reader
to see that someone with a lot of experience in the matter, shares his opinion. I think this also hurts
his argument slightly, in that he picked a person with an obvious bias towards his cause. Bergstein
himself recognizes this, and so he brings in another authority figure's opinion: Apple's CEO, Tim
Cook. According to Bergstein, Tim Cook conceded that smartphones could impede justice. I think it
was an intelligent decision to balance the source of opinions he included in his article, and although
the reader knows Tim Cook disagrees overall that smartphones should be accessible by government
officials, he does agree that Bergstein and Vance have a

How Entertainment Has Ruined Society Essay
In every sense, "ruined" is a relative term. On his third birthday, my cousin Collin received a bright
red toy fire truck, which promptly broke after a mere hour of playtime, summoning a myriad of tears
from the young boy. In my eyes, a broken wheel on a toy was not the end of the world, after all,
Collin could still push it around with only three wheels. To me, the toy was still decently
functioning, therefore I didn't consider it to be ruined. However, to Collin, who could not see past
the fact that right at that moment his fire truck had fewer wheels than was acceptable, his truck was
unusable; it was ruined. By the same token, the definition of ruined varies from person to person, as
the term relates to the condition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now more than ever, we are susceptible to the influence of these atrocities and we choose to let
them over power the glimmer of dignity that those with morals cling to. This became exceptionally
clear to me when on the way to church camp, our driver began to sing along to one of these over–
sexed songs. There's nothing quite like hearing the woman who would later lead your Bible study
wailing "blow my whistle" to open your eyes to societal ruin. With the ideas and behaviors hinted at
in movies, music, and television filling the gaping holes where the traditional values of previous
generations once solidly stood, it's implausible to honestly say that there is nothing wrong with state
of humanity. According to some, this moral turpitude found in so much of today's entertainment and
its influence can be ignored, and thus, is not a significant contributor to societal ruin. Most of the
time, this is true if one takes the path less traveled and stays strong in the morals that so few have.
However, Patsy Byers and William Savage, who were shot by the copycat killers inspired to murder
by the movie "Natural Born Killers," would beg to differ. Before the crime was committed, both
victims might have been great people who completely secluded

Analysis Of Cyrus ' Ascension Of The Throne '
Greek society put forth some of histories greatest works of writing, producing some of histories
greatest sources in which granted insight into both their own culture and society and that o other
civilizations of their time. Out of Greece came such a great writer and historian as Xenophon who
through his military experience was able to gain insight into the inner workings of Persian society
and culture under the rule of Cyrus. His authoring of the work Cyropaedia and other Persian related
sources showcase Cyrus' tactics and reformations put into place in order to successfully rule over a
vast multicultural society. It is clear that Cyropaedia is not necessarily meant to be truly written as a
historical document of Cyrus' ascension to the throne. The sources authored by Xenophon instead
playthe role of an artist's rendition mixed with philosophical antidotes towards the role of a leader in
the eyes of Xenophon as he uses Cyrus' life in order to put forth his own philosophical ideologies.
While filled with some inaccuracies due to Xenophon's own motives it does offers great insight into
the transformation of culture and society of the Persians under the rule of Cyrus and the various
changes he implicated. According to Xenophon, The use of his education, the ability to rule through
fear and demand respect along with the transformation of the Persian army were all factors that
Xenophon discusses leading to the shift of Persian culture and society from that of one focused upon

Celebrities Acting with Humanism
In the reading "Existentialism is a Humanism", the author Jean–Paul Sartre presents the idea of
Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man's plan in this world is not pre–
determined, as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre
states that a person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a
scene before defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up
to us to find it through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that
humans have a huge responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to
do so, making us entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, "when we say that man is
responsible for himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he
is responsible for all men." This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives
but also responsible for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born
after us. Everyone that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were
like and to use them as a point of guidance in order to go through life. This quote also implies that
men should behave in a way that improves this society because their actions will likely be replicated
in the near future. An example of such behavior can be the one of a mother, as she is very

Industrialization in America Essay
As America was rapidly industrializing, the products that were being mass–produced were in
demand all over the nation. In order to get food, supplies and raw materials to the industrial centers
that needed them, it was crucial that the speed of transportation was increased. Multiple types of
transportation came forth in early 1800's including roads, canals, steamboats and railroads which
would all contribute to the industrialization of America. This time period would come to be known
as the "Transportation Revolution" of America. (Ochoa 2). In 1815, farmers were struggling to keep

Fulton introduced the Clermont, which was the first commercially practical steamboat. In 1815, the
steamboat service started on the Mississippi River and before long they expanded across the nation
(Ochoa 2). Steamboats could go upriver as well as downriver, which was not possible prior to the
invention of steam power and boats could only go with the current downriver with no way to return
North. Steamboats allowed transportation to be a two–way process and goods could be moved to the
North and the South easily. Steamboats became increasingly important for the transportation of
goods, and in effect the river cities were economically significant and powerful due to the money,
goods and people moving through them every day. River cities such as Cincinnati, New Orleans,
and St. Louis became very influential in American politics and economy. Steamboats were improved
throughout the years and became one of the leading contributions of the Transportation Revolution.
However, steamboats also had negative qualities that completely changed the America rivers'
landscape. The steamboats could be hazardous due to the pollution of the air that the exhaust from it
caused. They could also be quite deadly in accidents that regularly occurred in rivers across
America. Nevertheless, steamboats revolutionized all aspects of the American lifestyle by giving

Song Is Popular Among Teens
In part one of questions, the reason why I think the song is so popular among teens is due to Miley
Cyrus rebel attitude and deliberately goes against the norm of societies values and morals that
expected for young ladies to behave and act with class. However, I believe Miley Cyrus goes to the
extremes to express her femininity the way she feels appropriate to get attention and become
popular with her fans that are easily influenced by sexuality agendas by young teenagers hormonal
changes during this mental and physical changes in their lives. Miley Cyrus reminds me of Madonna
actions with her lyric and album "Like a Virgin" back in the 1980's. Madonna's actions set her apart
from other music artist and caused society to relook how young adolescence males and females
were acting out in the response to a young female that was sexy, talented and has the spirit of free
will to do things against the norm in the music business and society. I feel these two–female music
artists now and then feed off young adolescence psychological emotions to promote their music and
make money.
Secondly, the important concerns that the song expresses for adolescents is how Miley Cyrus
expresses her sexuality and defies the norms of society. Miley Cyrus explicitly uses sex as an
undertone to promote and portray messages to her targeted audiences. An example, "I always get a
ten 'cause I 'm built like that" that refers to her body and thinking that she is perfect in the eyes of
her audience. In

Visual Media's Influence on Society
Information is easily accessible to Americans through the media. Americans can get this information
from print, audio, visual, and online. For eight to eighteen year olds, media in some form or fashion
normally takes up seven and a half hours of each day. Of those seven and a half hours, most is spent
in front of the television. Along with watching TV, video games and use of computers consume an
hour for each (Media, Body Image, and Eating Disorders). Even though there are many contributing
factors, visual mass media has a negative influence on American society.

The National Eating Disorders Association states that mass media are a leading source for the issue
concerning women being dissatisfied with their own body.
As stated by the National Eating Disorders Association, mass media's influence is greatly increasing.
With this issue in mind in 2004, Dove created their campaign for real beauty in the hopes of
reaching women struggling with body image issues. Dove's campaign began as a way to strike up a
discussion over the true definition of beauty. Since 2004, Dove's campaign has had many different
ways of achieving this goal to reach out to those struggling with beauty. These campaigns include
counterarguments on issues including aging, thin as beautiful. Dove even made a commercial which
showed women describing themselves to an artist, and then another individual coming in and
describing that same person to the artist. Later the women got to come back in and see the difference
in the drawings, which gave them an insight to how others view them and their true beauty. Dove
conducted a study in which the results were that only four percent of the women in the world
thought of themselves as beautiful. Their research also states that nine out of ten girls want to
change at least one thing about their physical appearance (Our Research). Since their campaign for
real beauty, Dove has set a movement for self–esteem. This

The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah
INTRODUCTION
The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah
When a critic attacks the authorship of Isaiah, it is like the "devil" putting his foot in the door.
Modern criticism has cast doubt on the Bible. The written Word of God is a battlefield and many a
skeptic has tried to dethrone the Bible claiming it is just another book.
Denying a single authorship of Isaiah:
1. Casts doubt on the written Word of God
2. Makes Jesus appear ignorant when He said Isaiah wrote the scroll of Isaiah
3. Promotes skepticism about the authorship of other books
4. Makes Paul appear ignorant in quoting from Isaiah
5. Makes New Testament writers appear ignorant quoting from Isaiah
A Brief Overview of the Book of Isaiah
As a whole, Isaiah can be divided into three main parts:
Isaiah 1–35 – describes Messiah as a mighty Ruler and King
Isaiah 36–39 – relates to the times of Hezekiah
Isaiah 40–66 – describes the Messiah as the meek and lowly Servant of the LORD
Some scholars feel that Isaiah 1–35 and Isaiah 40–66 must be works of different authors. The first
part of Isaiah reveals a Messiah who is a mighty Ruler and King. The last part of Isaiah reveals a
meek and lowly Messiah who is a suffering victim. This shift from "a mighty ruler" to "a suffering
victim," make some critics feel there are at least two authors to Isaiah. Other critics claim that
certain portions of Isaiah 13:24–27 and certain verses in Isaiah 14 and 21 were also written by
someone other than Isaiah. Therefore, according to

I chose this source because Herodotus, the ancient Greek historian, wrote it, which can make this
source especially a reliable source. The book explains the death of Cyrus the Great and his treatment
of Astyages while he had overthrown his grandfather. Contrary to popular belief, Cyrus treated his
grandfather with honor, which gave him the name "the great". This is extremely consistent with how
Cyrus the Great acted as a person and a leader in ancient times, especially because he was one of the
first major leaders to enforce basic human rights.

Positive And Negative Effects Of The Revolution In Persepolis
Have you ever thought your life was difficult? Now imagine your life in a country where they
decide what you can and cannot do. Where the actions of the people were controlled by the
government. That is exactly how Marjane grew up during the Islamic Revolution. Marjane is a
young girl who grew up in Iran. Her family is strongly against the government and does anything
they can to support the revolution. Marejane slowly starts to understand why she needs to be a part
of the revolution. In Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel Persepolis, the author explores Marjane's
development from a young innocent girl to an intelligent, well–educated woman, in order to reveal
the positive and negative effects of the revolution on her evolution as a woman. The revolution built
Marjane's character by forcing her to form her own opinions. In the upcoming scene, Marjane learns
how the government and society hate a westernized culture. This is described when Marjane says,
"For the first time in my life, I saw violence with my own eyes" (Satrapi 76). When Marjane
witnesses the beating of many women for not wearing their hijabs, she learns the consequences of
not doing what the government says. She forms a strong opinion about Iran's government. Without
this horrific experience she would of never knew what they were really like. I would call this
experience a positive on her life only because it shows the reader she is starting to grow up and

SEXISM, RACISM AND STEREOTYPES IN SOUTH PARK
Racial Stereotyping, racism, gender stereotyping and sexism are some of the strengths of South

South Park is a television show that was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It circumvents the
lives of 4 boys namely Eric Cartmen, Kenny McCormick, Stan Marsh and Kyle Broflovski around
the town of Colorado. This show mainly aims at picking up various stereotypes in different societies

Analysing the character of Stan Marsh. This character has been modeled around Trey Parker and
obviously is one of the more stable characters of the show whereas Kyle is modeled after Matt Stone
and this character also displays a certain amount of stability. Throughout the series there are
accounts of his deep friendship between Stan and Kyle. Since the creators are best friends from
college, in many of the episodes there is a reference to their undying friendship, They have their
fights but they do so without having any long–term effect on their friendship. Stan also maintained a
close relation with Kenny and at many a times Kenny has confessed, "Stan is the best friend a guy
could ever have." Stan is also the only character who has a stable relationship with Wendy. All in all
he portrays a much subtle version of the characters of South Park. But at the same time Stan is foul
mouthed, what the creator are trying to show is how young boys speak to each other when they are
alone.
Kyle Broflovski is based on Matt Stone and displays great signs of friendship with Stan Marsh. Kyle
is also know as the "only the Jewish kid." He is one of the sober characters on screen as he portrays
to be very smart and intelligent and uses it to solve problems in a more moral and ethical manner

The Persian Empire By Cyrus The Great
In 6th century BCE the Persian Empire was the main empire dominating most of the Mediterranean
Sea. It ran from part of modern Afghanistan and Pakistan in to modern day Turkey and portions of
Northern Greece. The Persian Empire was a strict state with powerful kings ruling over the massive
empire. The empire ruled over a vast ethnic group and proved to have success in diversity,
especially with Jews, whose history have been well documented with the Persian Empire.
The beginning of the Persian Empire is accredited to the wise guidance of a man known as Cyrus
the Great. Cyrus was a bright and influential Persian king whose approach for expanding the Persian
Empire was to conquer nearing lands with the goal of uniting them into one vast empire. With his
dexterous guidance and a solid military, Cyrus succeeded in fashioning a massive empire that lasted
for more than two hundred years. The strong roots and influences brought to the Persian Empire by
Cyrus gave the emperors after him much power, like Darius I, who continued to enlarge the Empire.
In the year 550 Cyrus the Great took power over the land of Media. As he began to create a strong
government he elected both Median and Persian nobles as civilian officials. After conquering
Media's people states throughout Anatolia soon fell under his reign. He then even conquered lands
in the area known as the Fertile Crescent. After this the Persian Empire was enormous. Cyrus
implemented a rule of toleration toward all his conquered

of Iran. Fravahar is a symbol that reminds people to have a purpose in life and follow the footsteps
of Ahura Mazda, the God of Zoroastrian. The angel that the symbol represents has 3 simple rules for
people to follow in life: good deeds, good thoughts and good words. He also resembles the angel

The Empire Of The Persian Empire
Extending from Egypt to northern Central Asia, the Persian empire was one of the most immense
empires that the ancient world had seen. Its emergence began in 550 B.C, once Cyrus the Great who
had recently come into power conquered his northern neighbor, the Medes, giving him access to the
reserves of gold and silver that were buried in the Zagros Mountains. Encouraged by his conquest of
the Medes, he captured Babylon and then advanced through Asia Minor to the Mediterranean Sea.
He later united the Persians, allowing him to create the Persian Empire, also known as the
Achaemenid empire. With access to the Mediterranean seaports, the Persians gained control of the
wealth of the ancient world from the regions, allowing them to built a vast and prosperous empire.
Although Cyrus is partially known for being a great conqueror, he is most importantly recognized as
a pioneer of human rights. To manage his boundless empire he divided newly conquered territories
into provinces which helped him rule freely. Even after his death, leaders like Darius I adopted his
influential techniques allowing them to maintain the expansive Persian Empire. Although the
Persians established their vast empires through sanguinary battles, they remained successful and
continued to influence other empires for years because of their tolerant nature and organized society.
Persians leaders allowed the people under their rule to live freely under the law and worship as they
pleased which helped them gain the

The Greek And Persian Empires
Throughout the years, many historians have acknowledged that the classical era was a time when
Greek and Persian Empires flourished. With that being said, from approximately 323–800 B.C.E.,
both the Greek and Persian Empire were experiencing periods of economic, political, and artistic
growth. The Persians, like the Greeks, were Indo Europeans, and were located by the Mediterranean
Sea, which consequently allowed Greeks and Persians to develop similarities. At this time, many
emerging civilizations lacked communication with other societies. Consequently, this enabled many
civilizations to established their own political systems, cultures, and religions. However, unlike

The Greeks were also located near the Mediterranean Sea. Ancient Greek culture was known for its
contributions to the architecture, science, mathematics, theatre and arts, and literature. The Greeks
also made the first significant, fundamental steps in science. The Greeks developed specific
scientific branches, such as zoology, biology, and anthropology. They were also known for
controlling the Persian Empire after the Persian War. King Alexander the Great initiated a war with
Persia, conquered and killed the last emperors. When they got ahold of Persians important city,
Persepolis, they burned it down. After Alexander, Greek culture spread out throughout Persia and it
was known as Hellenistic Era. (Lecture 10). Religion also separated the Greeks and Persians.
Persians placed a great emphasis on ritual, and practiced religious autonomy or religious toleration.
Also, Persia was known to have three distinct religions. However, Zoroastrianism was considered
the primary religion in Persia, because it was the first monotheistic religion. This religion introduced
the idea of a dualistic universe that focused on good versus evil and heaven and hell (Lecture 8). The
Persians were also committed to having people convert to their religion. As for the Greeks, "They
did not recognize a single, exclusive, all powerful God" (Bentley 212). Greeks believed in

21st Century Female Artists : Sex Appeal
21st Century Female Artists: Sex Appeal in the Music Industry
From wearing cupcake bra outfits to basically performing in a lavish swimsuit, Katy Perry has
demonstrated how women in the music industry use sex appeal to captivate their audience. In
today's society, it isn't uncommon to see female artists in very revealing, flashy outfits surrounded
by flashing lights and steam. Artists such as Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj have certainly made news
headlines for their audacious performances. In many cases, artists are presenting false images to
their fans as an investment for future album sales. Female artists are sexually objectified by their
audience which increase their viewership which leads to record labels pressuring artists to keep a
sexy image.
It is important to realize that, ultimately, female artists are sexually objectified by their audience.
Since the 1980's, there has been a significant rise of music videos and new mediums of music
playback such as the internet and CDs. As a result, the music industry has become more based on
visual appearance rather than the talent itself. During the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show, Beyoncé
was heavily criticized by conservatives for sexually objectifying herself. One commentator even
said "She made her sex appeal the main attraction by humping the stage and flashing her lady bits to
the camera" (Cupp 1). Commentators also argued that "Beyoncé's talents can only be fully
appreciated in the absence of sex appeal." With that being

My Experience With Writing Class
Writing is always something that I needed to spend a little more time at. I was much better
answering math problems than I was writing a paper or explaining a book I just read. In my college
writing class I felt that I was always given a challenge. The book " The Book Thief" that I read was
quite lengthy and had a lot of symbolism in it that took me a while to completely understand. The
papers that I had to do in my college writing class were also a lot more challenging than the ones I
had to do in other classes. A song that I would use to explain my experience with writing and college
writing class is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. I would use Miley Cyrus's song to explain my
experience with writing and my college writing class because there is always going to ways to
improve myself as a writer. When I do any assignment in my college writing class I am always
taking a chance with it. Writing can be taking in so many different ways and there is not real right
answer, most is just personal preference. It is also a process that can be quite lengthy; it is not just a
simple one–step process. It requires a lot of editing and having others give feedback about it.
2. If I were going to teach UWRT 1102 I would emphasize on composing processes. As a student
myself, I know that editing a paper is not something we enjoy to do. I, myself often just write a
paper once and just submit it. I think students should learn that writing is not just a one step process.

Reasons for Greek Victory and Persian Defeat.
The Achaemenid empire was the largest in geographical area in antiquity and covered over 6 million

Some of the northern Greek city states had already surrendered to Xerxes. This made the defensible
position at the Isthmus more favourable as the other northern city states were sure to fall as well and
many Peloponnesian city states were reluctant to send troops north to defend cities that were not
their own and vulnerable to the Persians massive infantry. However it was Themistocles that
persuaded the war council to fight at Salamis. Herodotus recounts Themistocles's plan in a
conversation between Themistocles and Eurybiades, the Spartan commander of the allied fleet: "It is
now within your power to save Greece, if you take my advice". Themistocles strategy was to lure
the Persians into the narrowest part of the straits where the Greeks' intimate knowledge of the
waterway and the Persian predisposition for maintaining formations would offset the numerical
disparity between them. It also prevented the Persians from overwhelming the Greeks with their
fleet numbering 500 ships against the Greek fleet numbering 378 ships. Most of the Greek vessels
were equipped with rams and were faster and more agile in the confined waterway. Themistocles
strategy was a complete success with the Persians losing 200 ships whilst the Greeks lost only 40.
The Battle of Salamis was a turning point in the war as the Persian fleet was largely destroyed. This
had severe ramifications for the Persian forces and

Stardom, as a social phenomenon, has strong impacts on the society and its people. Stardom is

Cyrus The Great : The Greatest Leader Of The Great Persian...
Introduction:
The greatest leaders in the history leave behind some sort of legacy. Cyrus the great was the founder
of the great Persian Empire around 550 B.C., which was the largest empire at that time. The empire
was stretched from Indus valley in the east to Thrace and Macedon on the northeastern boarder of
Greece which makes the largest empire of the world. Ancient Egypt was also under the rule of
Achaemenid Empire (Hegel, G. W., & Sibree, J., 2015).
Prior to Cyrus's rule, Persia was a small tributary state to the Median Empire, which happened to be
ruled by Cyrus's grandfather, Astyages. Persia paid the Medes for protection and to maintain a level
of independence. Cyrus came into conflict with his grandfather and initiated a rebellion that
ultimately succeeded in 550 BCE. Cyrus got victory over Astyages by building a city on the site of
the battle and naming it Pasargadae, after his tribe. By defeating Astyages, Cyrus took on his role as
ruler of what had been the Median Empire. Everyone who had been paying tribute to Astyages
accepted Cyrus as their new ruler. In order to solidify his power, Cyrus had to find ways to bring
lesser rulers under his control. His success earned Cyrus the title of "Cyrus the Great." (Empires,
A.O., 2011).
This paper reflects the pattern of Persian rule over the four corners of the world. According to
Cyrus:
"I am Cyrus, king of the world, great king, mighty king, king of Babylon, king of the lands of Sumer

The Persian Empire And World Dominance
b.) The author's thesis of this chapter is that the Achaemenid Persian Empire rose to world
dominance because Cyrus and Darius had tolerance for cultural and religious diversity. Her
argument for including this Empire in her book is that the story of this Empire goes along with the
thesis of the whole book. The Achaemenid Persian Empire rose to global dominance because it had
tolerance and then eventually fell because it became intolerant. Chua even says, "As the world's first
hyperpower, Achaemenid Persia faced, but never solved, the same fundamental problem that would
confront every subsequent world–dominant power. c.) The Achamenid Persian Empire was
successful because of tolerance for people of all ethnicities, religions, and cultures. On page 19,
Chua states that, "Cyrus and Darius had mastered the secret of strategic tolerance, which enabled
them to build an empire that included "the whole of the known world and a good deal of territory till
then unknown," stretching "from the burning sands of Africa to the icebound border of China."".
Since these rulers had tolerance for different cultures and religions, their Empire was very diverse.
This diversity allowed rulers to hire the most talented workers from throughout the empire. It's not
possible to grow world dominant with your military and economically if you only search for the best
in a specific religion or group. You will never reach an immense or powerful number of people.

Sparta was a warrior society centered on the loyalty of the state and military service, at Sparta the
children used to begin their training to become a warrior at the age of 7, leaving their houses to join

Specific Predictive Prophecies Are One Of Daniel’S...
Specific predictive prophecies are one of Daniel's distinctive elements (Rogers, The Date of Daniel:
Does it Matter?). But what is predictive prophecy? Unlike the assumptions of some, not all
prophecy foretells the future (Jackson, Principles of Bible Prophecy). It was frequently the case that
prophets would forthtell past or present events (Jackson). For a prophecy to qualify as predictive, it
must meet certain qualifications. First, the prophecy must be uttered significantly earlier than its
fulfillment (Jackson). Second, the prophecy must contain specific details, not guesswork (Jackson).
And third, the prophecy must be exactly fulfilled (Jackson). Geisler adds that legitimate predictive

However, Daniel addresses these four kingdoms elsewhere in his work, and the traditional
identification of the four kingdoms is clear from a proper interpretation of those texts (Dan. 7:2–8,

does not distinguish between the Median and Persian kingdoms (McDowell 22). His inspired
interpretation of the handwriting on the wall depicts the Persians, not the Medians, as the conquerors
of Babylon (Dan. 5:28; McDowell 23). Even if Daniel was written in the second–century B.C., some
of his prophecies are still predictive since Rome was not a significant world power and Christ's
kingdom was not yet established (Geisler 179; McDowell 24–25). Therefore, no logical reason
exists to reject the predictive element of Daniel's four–kingdom prophecy. Another example of
Daniel's predictive element comes from the prophecies of the Grecian empire (Dan. 8:3–8, 20–22;
11:3–4). A sixth–century B.C. date for Daniel places him approximately 200 years or more before
Alexander the Great began his conquests (Elwell 1: 50). The former prophecy accurately depicts
Alexander's victory over the Persian Empire between B.C. 334 to 331 (Walton 554). The latter
prophecy vividly describes the partitioning of Alexander's mighty empire after his death (554, 560).
Additionally, Josephus preserves a tradition that records Jewish priests presented Alexander the
Great with the book of Daniel

Rhetorical Analysis Of Brother Dean

  • 1. Rhetorical Analysis Of Brother Dean Jackeline Aguilar Rhetorical Analysis on Brother Dean Brother Dean is a campus preacher that is talking about controversial topics like rape, feminism, and gay people. He uses the bible to back up the statements that he makes. Brother Dean walks around the campus of the University of Arizona wearing shirts with the statements "you whore" and signs that say "you deserve rape". He is walking around and essentially slut shaming women because he states that they get raped because they wear revealing clothes. The day that he was being filmed by Vice was the release of Brave Miss World, a movie about a women named Linor Abargil who was abducted, stabbed and raped weeks before she won a pageant . He was protesting the release of the film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does not talk in long speeches about his beliefs because a lot of the students on campus do not have the time to stop and listen to him. Instead he talks really fast and attempts to persuade people to believe in his statements as they pass by. His preachings are mostly based on christianity and the bible. He never uses anything else to back his believes besides the bible. Brother Dean is using the bible as a weapon to persuade others to join him, proving that he is cultured. The reason Brother Dean is going on campus and preaching is so that he can get people to convert. As Nissi Powell, a student on campus said, he is only trying to get people's attention with his remarks. He is doing it in a wrong way because a lot of people do not respond well when they are being attacked with words. He could have tried a more effective way to get people to listen to him if he talked about the religion itself. He could have mentioned what a day in mass was like or passages from the bible that were positive. Due to his strident approach, he has caused chaos and violence towards him. People have started to rip his shirt, throw away his signs, and has had a smoothie thrown at him. His hobby has had a lot a controversy but some women do agree with him like his friend Sarah. She claims that women put themselves in situations without needing to be there. She also states that she agrees with everything brother Dean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Racial Identity And Gender Identity In a recent South Park episode, titles "The Cissy", in order for his own personal gain to use the girls' bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become "Erica." Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan's dad) must battle with his gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman's and Randy Marsh's struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of the "executive bathroom," and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for "Cissys'" reveal society's inability to comprehend gender– identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender– labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society's inability to comprehend the seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a scene of Eric Cartman contemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says "They've laughed at me, poked fun at me... They don't know what's in my right pocket but they'll know soon enough and they'll pay," (The Cissy). This, coupled with the menacing music playing in the background, further emphasizes the importance of Cartman's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Miley Cyrus also known as Hannah Montana, was a very inspiring person to kids until the show ended and she started to act out by twerking on live t.v, doing drugs and wearing/saying inappropriate things. But Miley cyrus isn't the only one that has done this. Even Though, many famous celebs act out because of fame there are stars who have not. Selena Gomez has been in the spotlight since she was a little kid. Ever since then she hasn't managed to let fame take over who she is; a successful, loving, humble person. The McCormick family altered the grounds of their home to become a public park to show the legacy that the McCormick family left behind. Robert R. McCormick served in WWI, which had a great impact on his life that is shown through the grounds of Cantigny Park. He served as the editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune for forty–four years, at which he made it a media giant by adding it to television stations and putting it on the radio. The mansion that the McCormick family occupied is a museum itself on the grounds, with its extravagance and countless artifacts. While the actual museum on the grounds takes the public back to the war, where it gives a better understanding of what the war was really like. The trip itself was very well put together, but could have had some improvements to make the learning experience even better. The Cantigny Park grounds is a memorable trip due to the better understanding one can have of WWI and the personal touches added by Robert R. McCormick himself. Robert R. McCormick served in the National Guard in 1915 and then in the First Infantry Division during WWI. • 13. The Hebrew Exiles In Babylon Essay The Hebrew Exiles in Babylon When Jerusalem fell to the conquering Babylonians in 587 BC, most of what was important to the Hebrew people was gone. They lost their holy city, the Temple was destroyed, and the Davidic monarchy ended (Beasley 221). Following the destruction of Jerusalem, the Babylonian king, Nebuchadrezzar, deported most of the population to other cities, including Babylon. These exiles remained there for about fifty years until the Persian forces, under king Cyrus, took the city of Babylon in 539 BC. The Persian policies concerning captured and exiled peoples were quite different than those of the Babylonians, and because of this King Cyrus allowed the exiles to return to Jerusalem in 538 BC to rebuild the city ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nebuchadrezzar, who had only recently become ruler of the Babylonian Empire in 604 BC, decided that this "new" Babylon should surpass anything in the fallen Assyrian Empire. Many of the exiles who were brought to Babylon were craftsmen and artisans (2 Kings 24:14,16), and so could be profitably employed in the rebuilding and improvement of the capital city. These workmen helped to make Babylon the most elegant of its day, and its beautiful gardens and architecture surpassed anything previously from Assyria (Whitely 71–72). It must have been a source of great satisfaction to some of the Hebrew exiles to know that they were an important part in the reconstruction of Babylon. In addition to the more rural occupations, there is also sufficient evidence written in discovered archives of the time that the Hebrew exiles were involved in the mercantile life in Babylon. Since many of the great highways of the time converged on Babylon, thus forming it into the center of commerce in the Near East, it is not surprising to find that some of the exiles became active in trading and loaning in this "land of traffic" (Whitley 73). The Murashu tablets are a significant testimony to the commercial activities of the Hebrews in Babylon. These personal business records from a Hebrew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. What If Apple Is Wrong By Brian Bergstein Analysis In his article, "What If Apple is Wrong," technology journalist for MIT Brian Bergstein questions the decisions tech giant Apple made after refusing to give the FBI a backdoor into iPhones' data. In April of this year, Apple refused the FBI's request to open up the iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook, who shot and killed 14 people in San Bernadino, California. Bergstein opens by relating the story of Devon Godfrey, who was shot in 2010. After using security camera footage to wrongly arrest the suspect on charge of murder, Godfrey's iPhone revealed that the murderer was someone entirely different. Using this as a springboard for his line of questioning, Bergstein ponders whether the case would have been solved without access to victim's iPhone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He first points out that since their release, iPhones have replaced a lot of the evidence that was used in the past, such as cameras and notepads. Logically, this would mean that investigations are more difficult than they were in the past, because investigators have lost sources of evidence. This also supports the argument that authorities should have access to iPhones, because everything on them were accessible in different forms in the past. Bergstein then attempts to strengthen his argument by using the opinions of other important figures. First, he quotes Cyrus Vance Jr., the District Attorney in Manhattan, who "thinks the federal government should pass a law that would require the makers of smartphone operating systems to be able to give data to investigators." Bergstein wants the reader to see that someone with a lot of experience in the matter, shares his opinion. I think this also hurts his argument slightly, in that he picked a person with an obvious bias towards his cause. Bergstein himself recognizes this, and so he brings in another authority figure's opinion: Apple's CEO, Tim Cook. According to Bergstein, Tim Cook conceded that smartphones could impede justice. I think it was an intelligent decision to balance the source of opinions he included in his article, and although the reader knows Tim Cook disagrees overall that smartphones should be accessible by government officials, he does agree that Bergstein and Vance have a ... • 17. How Entertainment Has Ruined Society Essay In every sense, "ruined" is a relative term. On his third birthday, my cousin Collin received a bright red toy fire truck, which promptly broke after a mere hour of playtime, summoning a myriad of tears from the young boy. In my eyes, a broken wheel on a toy was not the end of the world, after all, Collin could still push it around with only three wheels. To me, the toy was still decently functioning, therefore I didn't consider it to be ruined. However, to Collin, who could not see past the fact that right at that moment his fire truck had fewer wheels than was acceptable, his truck was unusable; it was ruined. By the same token, the definition of ruined varies from person to person, as the term relates to the condition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now more than ever, we are susceptible to the influence of these atrocities and we choose to let them over power the glimmer of dignity that those with morals cling to. This became exceptionally clear to me when on the way to church camp, our driver began to sing along to one of these over– sexed songs. There's nothing quite like hearing the woman who would later lead your Bible study wailing "blow my whistle" to open your eyes to societal ruin. With the ideas and behaviors hinted at in movies, music, and television filling the gaping holes where the traditional values of previous generations once solidly stood, it's implausible to honestly say that there is nothing wrong with state of humanity. According to some, this moral turpitude found in so much of today's entertainment and its influence can be ignored, and thus, is not a significant contributor to societal ruin. Most of the time, this is true if one takes the path less traveled and stays strong in the morals that so few have. However, Patsy Byers and William Savage, who were shot by the copycat killers inspired to murder by the movie "Natural Born Killers," would beg to differ. Analysis Of Cyrus ' Ascension Of The Throne ' Greek society put forth some of histories greatest works of writing, producing some of histories greatest sources in which granted insight into both their own culture and society and that o other civilizations of their time. Out of Greece came such a great writer and historian as Xenophon who through his military experience was able to gain insight into the inner workings of Persian society and culture under the rule of Cyrus. His authoring of the work Cyropaedia and other Persian related sources showcase Cyrus' tactics and reformations put into place in order to successfully rule over a vast multicultural society. It is clear that Cyropaedia is not necessarily meant to be truly written as a historical document of Cyrus' ascension to the throne. The sources authored by Xenophon instead playthe role of an artist's rendition mixed with philosophical antidotes towards the role of a leader in the eyes of Xenophon as he uses Cyrus' life in order to put forth his own philosophical ideologies. While filled with some inaccuracies due to Xenophon's own motives it does offers great insight into the transformation of culture and society of the Persians under the rule of Cyrus and the various changes he implicated. According to Xenophon, The use of his education, the ability to rule through fear and demand respect along with the transformation of the Persian army were all factors that Xenophon discusses leading to the shift of Persian culture and society from that of one focused upon ... • 25. Celebrities Acting with Humanism In the reading "Existentialism is a Humanism", the author Jean–Paul Sartre presents the idea of Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man's plan in this world is not pre– determined, as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre states that a person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a scene before defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up to us to find it through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that humans have a huge responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to do so, making us entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, "when we say that man is responsible for himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for all men." This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives but also responsible for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born after us. Everyone that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were like and to use them as a point of guidance in order to go through life. This quote also implies that men should behave in a way that improves this society because their actions will likely be replicated in the near future. Multiple types of transportation came forth in early 1800's including roads, canals, steamboats and railroads which would all contribute to the industrialization of America. This time period would come to be known as the "Transportation Revolution" of America. (Ochoa 2). In 1815, farmers were struggling to keep up with the high cost of transportation of their goods. Steamboats allowed transportation to be a two–way process and goods could be moved to the North and the South easily. Steamboats became increasingly important for the transportation of goods, and in effect the river cities were economically significant and powerful due to the money, goods and people moving through them every day. River cities such as Cincinnati, New Orleans, and St. Louis became very influential in American politics and economy. Steamboats were improved throughout the years and became one of the leading contributions of the Transportation Revolution. However, steamboats also had negative qualities that completely changed the America rivers' landscape. The steamboats could be hazardous due to the pollution of the air that the exhaust from it caused. They could also be quite deadly in accidents that regularly occurred in rivers across America. Song Is Popular Among Teens In part one of questions, the reason why I think the song is so popular among teens is due to Miley Cyrus rebel attitude and deliberately goes against the norm of societies values and morals that expected for young ladies to behave and act with class. However, I believe Miley Cyrus goes to the extremes to express her femininity the way she feels appropriate to get attention and become popular with her fans that are easily influenced by sexuality agendas by young teenagers hormonal changes during this mental and physical changes in their lives. Miley Cyrus reminds me of Madonna actions with her lyric and album "Like a Virgin" back in the 1980's. Madonna's actions set her apart from other music artist and caused society to relook how young adolescence males and females were acting out in the response to a young female that was sexy, talented and has the spirit of free will to do things against the norm in the music business and society. I feel these two–female music artists now and then feed off young adolescence psychological emotions to promote their music and make money. Secondly, the important concerns that the song expresses for adolescents is how Miley Cyrus expresses her sexuality and defies the norms of society. Miley Cyrus explicitly uses sex as an undertone to promote and portray messages to her targeted audiences. An example, "I always get a ten 'cause I 'm built like that" that refers to her body and thinking that she is perfect in the eyes of her audience. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of those seven and a half hours, most is spent in front of the television. Along with watching TV, video games and use of computers consume an hour for each (Media, Body Image, and Eating Disorders). As stated by the National Eating Disorders Association, mass media's influence is greatly increasing. Dove's campaign began as a way to strike up a discussion over the true definition of beauty. Since 2004, Dove's campaign has had many different ways of achieving this goal to reach out to those struggling with beauty. These campaigns include counterarguments on issues including aging, thin as beautiful. Dove even made a commercial which showed women describing themselves to an artist, and then another individual coming in and describing that same person to the artist. Later the women got to come back in and see the difference in the drawings, which gave them an insight to how others view them and their true beauty. Dove conducted a study in which the results were that only four percent of the women in the world thought of themselves as beautiful. • 38. The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah INTRODUCTION The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah When a critic attacks the authorship of Isaiah, it is like the "devil" putting his foot in the door. Modern criticism has cast doubt on the Bible. The written Word of God is a battlefield and many a skeptic has tried to dethrone the Bible claiming it is just another book. Denying a single authorship of Isaiah: 1. Casts doubt on the written Word of God 2. Makes Jesus appear ignorant when He said Isaiah wrote the scroll of Isaiah 3. Promotes skepticism about the authorship of other books 4. Makes Paul appear ignorant in quoting from Isaiah 5. Makes New Testament writers appear ignorant quoting from Isaiah A Brief Overview of the Book of Isaiah As a whole, Isaiah can be divided into three main parts: Isaiah 1–35 – describes Messiah as a mighty Ruler and King Isaiah 36–39 – relates to the times of Hezekiah Isaiah 40–66 – describes the Messiah as the meek and lowly Servant of the LORD Some scholars feel that Isaiah 1–35 and Isaiah 40–66 must be works of different authors. The first part of Isaiah reveals a Messiah who is a mighty Ruler and King. The last part of Isaiah reveals a meek and lowly Messiah who is a suffering victim. This shift from "a mighty ruler" to "a suffering victim," make some critics feel there are at least two authors to Isaiah. Other critics claim that certain portions of Isaiah 13:24–27 and certain verses in Isaiah 14 and 21 were also written by someone other than Isaiah. Therefore, according to ... In Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel Persepolis, the author explores Marjane's development from a young innocent girl to an intelligent, well–educated woman, in order to reveal the positive and negative effects of the revolution on her evolution as a woman. The revolution built Marjane's character by forcing her to form her own opinions. In the upcoming scene, Marjane learns how the government and society hate a westernized culture. This is described when Marjane says, "For the first time in my life, I saw violence with my own eyes" (Satrapi 76). When Marjane witnesses the beating of many women for not wearing their hijabs, she learns the consequences of not doing what the government says. She forms a strong opinion about Iran's government. Its emergence began in 550 B.C, once Cyrus the Great who had recently come into power conquered his northern neighbor, the Medes, giving him access to the reserves of gold and silver that were buried in the Zagros Mountains. Encouraged by his conquest of the Medes, he captured Babylon and then advanced through Asia Minor to the Mediterranean Sea. He later united the Persians, allowing him to create the Persian Empire, also known as the Achaemenid empire. With access to the Mediterranean seaports, the Persians gained control of the wealth of the ancient world from the regions, allowing them to built a vast and prosperous empire. Although Cyrus is partially known for being a great conqueror, he is most importantly recognized as a pioneer of human rights. To manage his boundless empire he divided newly conquered territories into provinces which helped him rule freely. Even after his death, leaders like Darius I adopted his influential techniques allowing them to maintain the expansive Persian Empire. The Persians, like the Greeks, were Indo Europeans, and were located by the Mediterranean Sea, which consequently allowed Greeks and Persians to develop similarities. At this time, many emerging civilizations lacked communication with other societies. Consequently, this enabled many civilizations to established their own political systems, cultures, and religions. Ancient Greek culture was known for its contributions to the architecture, science, mathematics, theatre and arts, and literature. The Greeks also made the first significant, fundamental steps in science. The Greeks developed specific scientific branches, such as zoology, biology, and anthropology. They were also known for controlling the Persian Empire after the Persian War. King Alexander the Great initiated a war with Persia, conquered and killed the last emperors. When they got ahold of Persians important city, Persepolis, they burned it down. After Alexander, Greek culture spread out throughout Persia and it was known as Hellenistic Era. (Lecture 10). Religion also separated the Greeks and Persians. Persians placed a great emphasis on ritual, and practiced religious autonomy or religious toleration. Also, Persia was known to have three distinct religions. However, Zoroastrianism was considered the primary religion in Persia, because it was the first monotheistic religion. This religion introduced the idea of a dualistic universe that focused on good versus evil and heaven and hell (Lecture 8). The Persians were also committed to having people convert to their religion. As for the Greeks, "They did not recognize a single, exclusive, all powerful God" (Bentley 212). They would mix their form of glue with their paint to make it stick better and have a layer of protection over it. ("Koontz, Robi.") Early glue was made from a lot of animals parts such as hides, horns, bones, and hooves. Sometimes blood, brains, and fish was also used to make glue. When scientists made a better glue for pottery, utensils, and weapons people began to get more into unsung glue. In early years people would use glue as a hair gel time to time. • 65. 21st Century Female Artists : Sex Appeal 21st Century Female Artists: Sex Appeal in the Music Industry From wearing cupcake bra outfits to basically performing in a lavish swimsuit, Katy Perry has demonstrated how women in the music industry use sex appeal to captivate their audience. In today's society, it isn't uncommon to see female artists in very revealing, flashy outfits surrounded by flashing lights and steam. Artists such as Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj have certainly made news headlines for their audacious performances. In many cases, artists are presenting false images to their fans as an investment for future album sales. Female artists are sexually objectified by their audience which increase their viewership which leads to record labels pressuring artists to keep a sexy image. It is important to realize that, ultimately, female artists are sexually objectified by their audience. Since the 1980's, there has been a significant rise of music videos and new mediums of music playback such as the internet and CDs. As a result, the music industry has become more based on visual appearance rather than the talent itself. During the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show, Beyoncé was heavily criticized by conservatives for sexually objectifying herself. One commentator even said "She made her sex appeal the main attraction by humping the stage and flashing her lady bits to the camera" (Cupp 1). Commentators also argued that "Beyoncé's talents can only be fully appreciated in the absence of sex appeal." With that being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. My Experience With Writing Class Writing is always something that I needed to spend a little more time at. I was much better answering math problems than I was writing a paper or explaining a book I just read. In my college writing class I felt that I was always given a challenge. The book " The Book Thief" that I read was quite lengthy and had a lot of symbolism in it that took me a while to completely understand. The papers that I had to do in my college writing class were also a lot more challenging than the ones I had to do in other classes. A song that I would use to explain my experience with writing and college writing class is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. I would use Miley Cyrus's song to explain my experience with writing and my college writing class because there is always going to ways to improve myself as a writer. When I do any assignment in my college writing class I am always taking a chance with it. Writing can be taking in so many different ways and there is not real right answer, most is just personal preference. It is also a process that can be quite lengthy; it is not just a simple one–step process. It requires a lot of editing and having others give feedback about it. 2. If I were going to teach UWRT 1102 I would emphasize on composing processes. As a student myself, I know that editing a paper is not something we enjoy to do. I, myself often just write a paper once and just submit it. I think students should learn that writing is not just a one step process. Writing is a never–ending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Reasons for Greek Victory and Persian Defeat. The Achaemenid empire was the largest in geographical area in antiquity and covered over 6 million square kms from the Caspian Sea in the north to the Indian ocean in the south from Egypt in the west to the Indus River in the east. In the Greco–Persian wars from 499 BC–449 BC this colossal empire lost due to superior Greek military capabilities residing in the exceptional Greek generals and professional troop contingents. Athenian democracy ensured that talented individuals rose to positions of power and influence such as Miltiades and Themistocles. Miltiades was elected to serve as one of the 10 stratagoi (generals) to command the Athenian forces in 490 BC and was crucial to the victory at the Battle of Marathon. According to Herodotus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the northern Greek city states had already surrendered to Xerxes. This made the defensible position at the Isthmus more favourable as the other northern city states were sure to fall as well and many Peloponnesian city states were reluctant to send troops north to defend cities that were not their own and vulnerable to the Persians massive infantry. However it was Themistocles that persuaded the war council to fight at Salamis. Herodotus recounts Themistocles's plan in a conversation between Themistocles and Eurybiades, the Spartan commander of the allied fleet: "It is now within your power to save Greece, if you take my advice". Themistocles strategy was to lure the Persians into the narrowest part of the straits where the Greeks' intimate knowledge of the waterway and the Persian predisposition for maintaining formations would offset the numerical disparity between them. It also prevented the Persians from overwhelming the Greeks with their fleet numbering 500 ships against the Greek fleet numbering 378 ships. Most of the Greek vessels were equipped with rams and were faster and more agile in the confined waterway. Themistocles strategy was a complete success with the Persians losing 200 ships whilst the Greeks lost only 40. The Battle of Salamis was a turning point in the war as the Persian fleet was largely destroyed. This had severe ramifications for the Persian forces and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stardom is firstly associated with the Hollywood film system, but now it appears in all areas, predominantly in sports, television industry and popular music industry. Shuker (2012) defines stardom in popular music as it is "about illusion and appeal to the fantasies of the audience" and is "about talent and creativity" as well. Without overlooking the commercial profits that it evidently generates, at the same time, it brings benefits and detriments to both the artists and the influenced crowd. • 73. Cyrus The Great : The Greatest Leader Of The Great Persian... Introduction: The greatest leaders in the history leave behind some sort of legacy. Cyrus the great was the founder of the great Persian Empire around 550 B.C., which was the largest empire at that time. The empire was stretched from Indus valley in the east to Thrace and Macedon on the northeastern boarder of Greece which makes the largest empire of the world. Ancient Egypt was also under the rule of Achaemenid Empire (Hegel, G. W., & Sibree, J., 2015). Prior to Cyrus's rule, Persia was a small tributary state to the Median Empire, which happened to be ruled by Cyrus's grandfather, Astyages. Persia paid the Medes for protection and to maintain a level of independence. Cyrus came into conflict with his grandfather and initiated a rebellion that ultimately succeeded in 550 BCE. Cyrus got victory over Astyages by building a city on the site of the battle and naming it Pasargadae, after his tribe. By defeating Astyages, Cyrus took on his role as ruler of what had been the Median Empire. Everyone who had been paying tribute to Astyages accepted Cyrus as their new ruler. In order to solidify his power, Cyrus had to find ways to bring lesser rulers under his control. His success earned Cyrus the title of "Cyrus the Great." (Empires, A.O., 2011). This paper reflects the pattern of Persian rule over the four corners of the world. According to Cyrus: "I am Cyrus, king of the world, great king, mighty king, king of Babylon, king of the lands of Sumer and Akkad, king of the four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. The Persian Empire And World Dominance b.) The author's thesis of this chapter is that the Achaemenid Persian Empire rose to world dominance because Cyrus and Darius had tolerance for cultural and religious diversity. Her argument for including this Empire in her book is that the story of this Empire goes along with the thesis of the whole book. The Achaemenid Persian Empire rose to global dominance because it had tolerance and then eventually fell because it became intolerant. Chua even says, "As the world's first hyperpower, Achaemenid Persia faced, but never solved, the same fundamental problem that would confront every subsequent world–dominant power. c.) The Achamenid Persian Empire was successful because of tolerance for people of all ethnicities, religions, and cultures. On page 19, Chua states that, "Cyrus and Darius had mastered the secret of strategic tolerance, which enabled them to build an empire that included "the whole of the known world and a good deal of territory till then unknown," stretching "from the burning sands of Africa to the icebound border of China."". Since these rulers had tolerance for different cultures and religions, their Empire was very diverse. This diversity allowed rulers to hire the most talented workers from throughout the empire. It's not possible to grow world dominant with your military and economically if you only search for the best in a specific religion or group. You will never reach an immense or powerful number of people. Achaemenid rulers like Cyrus and Darius ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 79. Specific Predictive Prophecies Are One Of Daniel’S... Specific predictive prophecies are one of Daniel's distinctive elements (Rogers, The Date of Daniel: Does it Matter?). But what is predictive prophecy? Unlike the assumptions of some, not all prophecy foretells the future (Jackson, Principles of Bible Prophecy). It was frequently the case that prophets would forthtell past or present events (Jackson). For a prophecy to qualify as predictive, it must meet certain qualifications. First, the prophecy must be uttered significantly earlier than its fulfillment (Jackson). Second, the prophecy must contain specific details, not guesswork (Jackson). And third, the prophecy must be exactly fulfilled (Jackson). Geisler adds that legitimate predictive prophecies must contain unusual events that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Daniel addresses these four kingdoms elsewhere in his work, and the traditional identification of the four kingdoms is clear from a proper interpretation of those texts (Dan. 7:2–8, 17; 8:3–8, 20–22; Archer, A Survey of Old Testament Introduction, 376–78). Furthermore, Daniel does not distinguish between the Median and Persian kingdoms (McDowell 22). His inspired interpretation of the handwriting on the wall depicts the Persians, not the Medians, as the conquerors of Babylon (Dan. 5:28; McDowell 23). Even if Daniel was written in the second–century B.C., some of his prophecies are still predictive since Rome was not a significant world power and Christ's kingdom was not yet established (Geisler 179; McDowell 24–25). Therefore, no logical reason exists to reject the predictive element of Daniel's four–kingdom prophecy. Another example of Daniel's predictive element comes from the prophecies of the Grecian empire (Dan. 8:3–8, 20–22; 11:3–4). A sixth–century B.C. date for Daniel places him approximately 200 years or more before Alexander the Great began his conquests (Elwell 1: 50). The former prophecy accurately depicts Alexander's victory over the Persian Empire between B.C. 334 to 331 (Walton 554). The latter prophecy vividly describes the partitioning of Alexander's mighty empire after his death (554, 560). Additionally, Josephus preserves a tradition that records Jewish priests presented Alexander the Great with the book of Daniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
