and often misconceived. Contrary to popular belief, North America was inhabited eons prior to the

expose the lies teachers and textbooks have taught students about American History, Loewen talks

break–in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building in
Washington, DC. Because of the scandal that resulted, there were a number of political effects on
succeeding presidential administrations. One of the most significant outcomes of Watergate scandal
was the defining of an obscure presidential power: executive privilege. Because of the existence of a
secret campaign fund which financed the break–in, after the scandal broke, both Congress and the
Supreme Court seriously altered the issue of campaign finance. And finally, the Watergate scandal
altered the relationship between the media and politicians; giving the media the excuse for
scrutinizing the most private aspects of a politicians personal life. In 1981, Ronald Reagan made
"Supply Side Economics" the main economic policy for his presidential administration. This was the
idea that lower taxes would spur economic growth, expand the economy, and ultimately increase tax

a controversial idea because of the concept that lowering the tax rates for businesses would indeed

Nobody is perfect, so everyone all makes mistakes. Human created history and even historical
failures. Some people believe that we usually repeat what we did wrongly before. It sounds similar
to the British author George Bernard Shaw's idea: "We learn from history that we learn nothing from
history." However, in my opinion, that idea is completely not correct, because we must learn
something from the mistakes we made in the past, so that we would not do them one more time at
the present or in the future.
In my essay, I will use three examples from American history (from 1877 to the present) to disprove

Reflection On African American History
Over the course of this semester, I was introduced to many people, ideas, writings, and discussions
that sparked my interest and enlightened me on African American history. However, I feel like this
was just the beginning of my journey of learning the history of my people, as there is still so much
out there to be brought to the surface. Prior to taking this course, I was always ignorant on the topic
of African American history and simply made the connection to slavery. Additionally, I was unaware
of other black activist, movements, and struggles that I had the chance to witness for the first time in
this class. I came to a realization of how deprived of this information I was, because other historic
events have been deemed more important. A quote that stuck with me throughout the course that

Black History Month started off, as Black History Week in 1926 in 1976 it became a month. It is
known that many minorities have suffered in America, Canada, and the United Kingdom especially

Comparison Of Racism In American History X And Romper Stero
American History X, directed by Tony Kaye, and Romper Stomper, directed by Geoffrey Wright,
share similar themes, of racism/ extremism, violence and the influence of idols/ gangs on the
impressionable. In both films, the outsiders (Mexicans and Asian immigrants) are terrorised and
beaten by Neo–Nazi Skinhead gangs in America (Los Angeles) and Australia (Melbourne). Both
texts are also set in a similar timeframe, this being the 80's/ 90's, reflecting the social issues of the
era.
Racism and extremism are depicted clearly in both American History X and Romper Stomper,
accentuated through violent and hateful dialogue. Flashbacks are clearly used to establish the
creation and reason for these racist thoughts and extremist behaviour in American History X. These
flashbacks are shown in black and white, symbolising the state of mind the antagonist (Derek) was
in. He is presented as narrow minded, at the height of his ideology and can only see things in right
or wrong, black or white. Once Derek realises and loathes his wrongs, he sees in colour, a clever use
of film techniques used by Kaye. The violence portrayed in both films is also similar in the way that
the Neo–Nazi gangs of LA and Melbourne terrorise minorities and believe that Mexican (American
History X) and Vietnamese (Romper Stomper) immigrants are swarming into their western suburbs,

American History X is clearly a film dealing with racism. The interesting thing about this film is the
way in which the subject is treated. First of all, it is obvious that, though racism is always a difficult
subject to deal with, American History X presents it without any reservations or dumming down.
Second, the film's figurehead for racism, Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton), is not an unintelligent

Derek's time in prison shows the results of this terrible way of life, and from the moment he takes
off his shirt in the outdoor workout area, revealing his huge swastika tattoo to the other neo–nazi
inmates, he becomes involved in another horrible situation, resulting in his being raped in the
showers when things go wrong. Perhaps the most tragic scene of the film is also its most effective in
delivering to the audience, the emotional destruction that racism can cause. When Danny at the end

There's mostly two types of sports fans – the "old school" fan, who longs for the way things used to

shoes or how to do long division, teachers have been around to help people learn forever. Teachers
are an integral part of today's society, and they will continue to be an outstanding asset in the lives of
all the students across our country for centuries to come. Because of teaching's impact on today's
world and children, I chose to interview my former North Allegheny GOAL teacher, Mr. Dan
Williams for my Honors American History GREEF project. I have always been surrounded by
teachers, and I have invariably been fascinated by the amazing feats they are able to accomplish. I

Williams and a number of other teachers who seemed quite happy to see me. The environment at the
middle school was happy and welcoming, which truly only improved my outlook on teaching. Mr.
Williams and I walked to an empty classroom in which the interview was held and I began to ask
him the questions I had written up earlier that week. I started off with a number of questions mainly
about how he knew he wanted to be a teacher. So, naturally, he explained that he went to Duquesne
University intending to become a lawyer. In his junior year of college, however, after taking three

their education department, and he liked it so much more than any experience he had in law. I found

I have been studying Chinese history for a long time, but the interesting phenomenon is in 5000–
year history of China, there is only one formal empress called Wu Zetian, and the amounts of

Nowadays, Hilary Clinton has been reported by all the newspaper and TV shows, because she is the

I have always been surrounded by teachers, and I have invariably been fascinated by the amazing feats they are able to accomplish.
