Science 7 - LAND and SEA BREEZE and its Characteristics
Evaluation question 6
1. EVALUATION QUESTION 6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. HARDWARE
For the production of my product, there were a range of different technologies and equipment I had to use in order to create my
final product as well as conduct my research and planning and evaluation of my product afterwards.
I used the to take my images. This was a good piece of equipment to use as it allowed me to take as many images as I needed.
The images were all of good quality so this allowed my work to look professional. I had never used one of these cameras before
so at first I found it more difficult to use however once I had got used to it I found it easy to use. I was happy with how all of
the images for my magazine turned out and this was because they looked professional.
The main piece of technology I used throughout my work was an apple mac. This is where I firstly did all of my planning and
research and I then went on to use this during the main production part of the magazine. I am used to using apple computers and
find them easy and reliable, meaning I could work efficiently and ultimately meaning my final products looked professional.
I also used studio lights during the photoshoots to ensure that the images looked clear and professional. I found that it was easy
to set these up as well as making sure the positioning was correct in order for the images to turn out the way that I wanted them
to.
3. SOFTWARE
Blogger.com is the website I used to create my blogposts where I documented my progress and idea throughout the whole process. I found this a
good website to use as it was easy to create a blog post where I could quickly add in my ideas or show what I have been doing. It was easy to
document everything I wanted to as it allows you to add in images, videos, text etc. so I could explain the process of making my magazine as well
as my research and evaluating my work.
A second piece of software I used was Photoshop. I have previously used this before however I haven't worked on a piece of work for this length of
time before, meaning there were more complex things to learn how to do, however I found this very useful as it allowed me to edit my images as
well as adding text and other features to my magazine. I used Photoshop to create my front cover as it allowed me to add in the initial ideas I had
which I then developed for the other pages of my magazine. This benefitted my work as it allowed me to make my magazine look exactly how I
wanted it to, especially the images and the layout of the magazine.
Additionally, I used Indesign to create the contents page and the double page spread as these were the pages where there would be larger amounts of
text and images on the pages. I found this easy to use as it is quite similar to Photoshop in regards to the way it is played out and the tools you can
use.
I also used a website called Prezi to document my work further. It is a website that allows you to create presentations. I found this useful in the
evaluation stages of my work as it allowed me to add in images of my work and I was able to talk about them and explain the different features and
why I added them into my magazine. At first I found this complicated to use however once I had used it a few more times it became easier to use.
